Continued thoughts and prayers to Boston. The running community continues to amaze me. Keep on supporting each other and dedicating our runs to those hurt by Monday’s tragedy.

Brooke thinks she is pretty cool now that she just stands up all by herself all of the time. I am going to be very upset if she gets any more independent. Why doesn’t she just want me to hold her all day long anymore?!?!
Brooke’s nap = therapeutic cooking and watching Glee at the same time for me. It felt really good. You know a recipe is going to be good when it starts with a layer of french bread. The four cups of cheese might have something to do with its deliciousness. Don’t tell Billy that my iPad was on the oven, it is just the best place for it so that I can properly view my high school drama shows while I cook.
I made Sausage and Egg Casserole and oh my goodness it was delicious. My friend made it a few weeks ago for us for brunch and I have been craving it ever since.
For this recipe you are supposed to let it soak overnight but I do not have the patience to do such a thing and so I only let mine sit for about 2 hours and it still tasted amazing. Definitely went back for more.
And then Billy went back to school. I know. It must be really tough on him to leave me at night… actually it probably isn’t because I fall asleep at approximately 9 pm most nights.
(He wore his Ragnar race shirt!)
When he left I ate cookies (his dad gave us these, yum!) and watched an episode of Love It or List It and then I went to bed.
Here is today’s spin playlist (I’ll also use it for my Friday class because it is at a different gym = different people).
In case you are wanting to follow along with Brooke’s developmental stages she is currently in the stage where she wants to pull or eat my hair 90% of the day.
(Sister, when I come into town next month prepare to cut/color/give my hair some moisture again while I am there:)
—————————————————————————
Do you have a good hairdresser? How long have you been going to her/him or do you try lots of different places to get your hair cut/colored?
Have you ever ran a ragnar or relay race?
-Billy- yes, me- NOOOO and I need that to change asap.
On a scale from 1-10 (10 being you love it a whole lot) how much do you like cooking?
-7 and a 10 for baking.

10 if it’s something awesome, 0 if it’s routine boringness! I don’t have a regular hairdresser (and it shows… haha). What is a ragnar? I’ve never heard of it! Brooke is getting so grown up!!! She looks like a toddler!
mountain girl heidi
I ran 5 miles yesterday for Boston. It was gray, windy, and chilly. Quiet. A few other runners were friendly. Some weren’t. But I shed a few tears and still had my fastest run since starting back up again in March. Maybe I just needed something to run for.
Emma @ Culturecopia
Hmmm, I would say a 6 or 7… my biggest problem is I’m running out of easy/healthy/cheap ideas?!?! I know there’s a million recipes out there, but… ;). I definitely don’t have a regular hairdresser considering I move so much! Speaking of which, I must get a haircut ASAP! And a ragnar/relay is on my to-do list!
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl
Your egg and sausage casserole looks delicious! Looks like a must try playlist too…..Thanks for sharing!
Kelly
I love cooking when it’s for more than just me (and when I’m not totally busy from school). But baking I love to do anytime! I wanna try that casserole, the bread and cheese has me sold :)
As always, Brooke is soo cute! She seems like the funnest baby ever!!
Mary @ Maresy Dotes
I LOVE all of your playlists, Janae! Have you ever thought about making playlists on Spotify to share? I’d love to be able to listen to them while I workout. And if you have already done this and I’ve missed it forgive me, I’ll do better with my HRG stalking ;)
Erin
oh yes, please!
Cori @olivetorun
I am itching to do a Ragnar race! I think it would be so fun with the right group of people. Want to join my team? ;)
Sarah @PickyRunner
I’m not a cooking fan. I’d rather have other people cook for me. But I’ll gladly taste test any dessert sent my way… I love your playlists! Makes me wish I was by you so I could try a spin class :)
Kathee
Ragnars rock I’m telling ya! I’ve done 7 and planned 8 & 9. Of course, its the van that makes the difference.
I’m fickle about cooking. Sometimes a 2 and sometimes a 10.
Jill
Kathee, I’d luv to hear which Ragnars you liked the best. I have done SoCal and Napa. Napa was by far better.
Kathee
I think each race has many variables. I loved So Cal, but Napa had too many unsupported long legs. The people I know that have ran more then me all love Del Sol in Arizona. I just participated in Del Sol and loved it!! I have been super lucky to have had a blast in every single Ragnar. The van makes the race.
emma @ a mom runs this town
i have no hairdresser… hence why my hair looks like a run over bird’s nest. I sport a bun everyday b/c hair pulling is now a new hobby for the babe.
i give myself a 10 for liking to cook when everything goes in the oven on foil for easy clean up. otherwise, we’re looking at a 1.
Lisa @ Live and Be Awesome
I’m with you… 7 for cooking and 10 for baking. Also, Brooke is basically the most photogenic baby I’ve ever seen. I’m constantly amazed by her and I’ve never even met her haha. :)
Julia B.
I loooove my hairdresser! I randomly made an appointment with her two or three years ago and haven’t looked back since. Cooking is a 9 for me- it is relaxing and I like trying new things.
Renee @ Renee Runs Miles
I need a new hairdresser…I have curly hair and my old one doesn’t understand curly hair. I went for the first time with an idea of what I wanted and she wasn’t even close.
I ran a local relay (it was only like 60 miles) but it was a ton of fun! I think a big one would be a blast.
I like cooking as long as I know what I’m making and I love baking. So probably like you a 7 and 10.
Jackie
I’ve had a lot of feet injuries lately and I have to ease off running and focus more on spin I would love of you could share how you got into teaching!
Beth @ Running with the Sunrise
Ooh, I’m totally going to check out your playlist–I’m running a marathon in just over a week and I’m going to be running it very slowly, so I need LOTS of awesome music suggestions to keep me pumped and going during the race. I just love Brooke’s face in that photo where she’s chewing on your hair–happy as a clam and loving hanging out with her mom. I generally stick with a stylist once I find a good one, but I just had to switch because I moved from South Carolina to Chicago. Finding a new stylist is stressful!
Kelly in Canada
I’ve always loved baking (10) and I’m growing to love cooking as I become adventurous in my ripe old age of 31. I’m looking forward to making my new favourite dish tonight: Red Thai Coconut Curry with Tiger Prawns.
Last night one of the running training clinics in my city organized a Boston tribute run around our city’s park. I ran without music and as I passed families out enjoying the sunshiny night I thought about freedom. It’s funny, the biggest 10k race in Canada is coming up this weekend in Vancouver. They got a surge in registrations yesterday, by the thousands.
Gracie (Complicated Day)
I actually cut my own hair and have never been to a stylist. I do the layers and everything, and it’s funny you mentioned this today because that’s what I’m doing today once my hair dries!
Laura @ Live, Run, Sparkle
That breakfast casserole looked amazing! My mom does something like that for Christmas morning called “wife saver” with bread, egg, cheese, etc. I wonder if its the same thing.
I am a 9/10 for cooking and a 6/10 for baking.. I would be a 10 for cooking, but I don’t like to have to do it EVERY day, so I couldn’t give myself a full 10/10 enjoyment score. Luckily my boyfriend is an amazing cook, so he usually takes care of dinners and I sip on a glass of wine and watch him. :)
Wendy @ New Moms Talk
About 2 weeks ago I proclaimed that I was going to shave my head after Susanna got a grip. Her fingers are wonderfully strong and can find a single strand of hair and wam! A really tight pull followed by eating it whenever she can. No hair is free of her fingers!
I’ve yet to shave my head, and I feel you!
Baking = 10 and cooking = 6.5 for me.
Karen @ Runner Girl Eats
I think Ragnar sounds like the most fun thing ever but have never done one. I like coking about an 8. Thanks for the playlist!!
Sarah @ OurPersonalRecords
That casserole looks delicious and fairly simple. To me, that is the best kind of recipe. I’m at about an 8 on the scale of loving cooking. I love it more when I know what I’m doing and less when I am trying something new and feeling slightly incompetent.
I also love that playlist. Half of those songs are on my “must” list for running!
Britt @ BrittsRunningStyle
I have not done a ragnar relay… I do like to cook. I give cooking a 6 and baking a 10! Chris is a way better cook than me. I just started using a new hairdresser and I love her!
Erica
There is talk of us doing a math department Ragnar here. Totally want to!
this has only recently reversed………cooking 9.5 and baking 7. (I think it is because my sweet tooth lost its edge) :(
After going to my stylist for a year we became facebook friends, now we are truly friends and actually go out together. I guess you can make friendships in all sorts of places.
Samantha @ 24 to 30
Sadly the hair pulling stage doesn’t go away for awhile…my 2 year old still does it then he laughs hysterically when I say ouch. If it weren’t for the pain it would be cute, haha. I went to the same girl to get my hair done from age 13-26 and she was awesome, but she was in a different town…once I had a baby and got busy with working it was hard to find a sitter on Saturdays so I had to switch to a different girl in the town where I work so I can go at lunchtime. Switching stylists was really hard and it felt like breaking up! I would say cooking is a 6 – I used to love it but not so much now that I have to every night. I do love it when I try something new and everyone loves it – happening tonight I think – Cheeseburger Pie for dinner!
Adriana @Laced Up With Lipstick
Oh my goodness Brooke’s thigh rolls are awesome. My daughter has lost all her rolls :( I really miss them. Don’t worry about the independent part when she starts playing tea party and kitchen or doing puzzles she is going to want you to play too :) And I’m sure when she’s old enough to run she will want to join you as well.
Amy
I just ran my first relay race last month. 100 miles, 5 team members, it was very hard but also very rewarding and fun (in a strange way). I will certainly train a little different for the next one! Love your blog and pictures of Brooke!
Ashley @ OurPersonalRecords
I have an issue with hairdressers. I’ve been going to the same one for the past 4 years, but she changed locations and her price went up $20! It’s insane. Not to mention the fact that after lying for the past two years about still being a college student, she has finally realized that I graduated and no longer gives me the student discount ($10 off — well worth the lies if you ask me).
I at about an 8 for cooking. It would be a 10 if someone else did all the dishes afterward :)
nerri @LaPetiteRunner
I’m a 8 for cooking and a 10 for baking!! I’ve never run a relay but a Ragnar is on my bucket list!
Karla @ myhighonlife
Oh my gosh she is cuter everyday. Just like her momma :)
I am going to run 26:20 tonight. I really wanted to yesterday but my legs are ridiculously sore from yoga {we’re tlaking falling to toilet to go to the bathroom!}
Lindsey
I love my hairdresser. I have been with her for about 2.5 years. But have been at the same salon for 6 years, I had two other hairdressers at the same place before but both moved. I am lucky I loved every one of them!
No, but I would LOVE to!
A 8 most days :)
Megan
I HATE getting my hair cut. The last time I cut it was March 2012… WOOPS. I do like my hair dresser and have been going to her for about 3 years now, but I also like chopping my hair short and then letting it grow super long and doing it again ha.
Cooking: 10
Watching my mom bake: 10
Melissa V.
I don’t get my hair cut nearly as often as I should and I tend to pop around to different hairdressers (I moved away from my hometown where I had the same hairdresser for YEARS and just haven’t found someone I really like where I live now). I’ve never ran a ragnar race but they look fun! As far as cooking, I’m getting into it much more now, trying new recipes so I’d say a good 7-8/10.
P.S. – You have inspired me to start doing the “8 minute abs” video – holy cow my abs are so sore. Also, I just started doing “8 minute buns” today…if you haven’t tried it yet, you should!! I have a feeling I won’t be able to walk tomorrow (which is not good considering I’m a physical therapist and have to run around a hospital!)
Katie
I had a haircutter/friend/person at home since I was little, but now that I live in California, I haven’t exactly gotten my hair cut in 6 months. I actually love cutting my own hair but only really do that when it’s longer (aka easier).
Natalie @ Free Range Human
I would say 9. I love to cook! My dad was telling me about a relay race that takes place in Oregon. It sounded awesome!
Christine
I have been going to my hair dresser for 7+ years. Even after I moved, I still drive an hour every 10 weeks or so to get my hair highlighted and cut for $70! Well worth the drive..if you lived in Boston I’d totally hook you up!
10 for cooking! If I didn’t have to work full time, I’d cook elaborate meals every night! I love cooking asian and mexican food the most…my egg rolls are pretty killer, just sayin’ :-)
p.s. I think wearing race shirts is a fantastic way to honor Boston during this trying time!
mary @ minutes per mile
I haven’t cut or colored my hair since July! Hahaha. Considering I have an upcoming wedding I should probably take care of that soon.
Lauren
Cooking is probably an 8 and baking is a 13. It gets three extra points because you can lick the batter off the spoon which is WAY more delicious than anything raw you’re cooking lol. Plus, it has sugar. Let’s be real.
Brooke is getting to be such a strong girl!
Janee
We have an open spot on our Wasatch Back Ragnar team ! :) I love my hairdresser and I love to bake. It really is therapeutic.
Monica L
Still praying for Boston.
I love my hairdresser. I was lucky to find a good one when I moved here to Cincinnati 4 years ago-I’ve been with her since then. I’ve never done a Ragnor or a relay race but I would like to-they sound fun! I actually love to cook and bake-maybe a 7 or 8 but I HATE HATE HATE cleaning up afterwards so that makes that number dro down to a 5 or so :)
Brooke=adorable!
Andrea @ Andrea out loud!
On a scale from 1-10 I love cooking about a 9. i looove it! but its not a 10 because there are times where i just dont feel like it still :) usually one night a week I feel sorta lazy about it!
Dana
10 for cooking, baking 7. That casserole looked insane!! yum! I have bene going to my hairdresser for 20 years now. she’s very talented but her skill is with color; she’s incredible and I ONLY trust her. I hope she never moves. :)
I feel you’d be proud to know that I ran 2 miles yesterday and it felt great!! I’m really not a runner, but I’m starting to like running outside way better than the treadmill.
Lindsey
Ohhhh I love Brooke’s little chubby legs!!
I wish I loved to cook (and I bet my husband does to lol) but I prefer to bake. I cook cause we need to eat but some Sunday afternoons I bake up a storm. 10 all the way for baking, 5 for cooking.
Noelle
I am running the Cape Cod Ragnar in a couple weeks and stoked about it! I also was at the marathon, but left a little before the bombs. It’s very somber in the city now.
Jessica R @ fromthekitchentotheroad
10 for cooking and baking. I love cooking and baking and trying out new recipes. They don’t always turn out but it is fun to try. I don’t have a hairdresser. I don’t dye my hair and probably go a solid year between haircuts. I wear my hair long so it doesn’t seem to be a problem.
Linda @running4two
I’ve been using the same guy for about 13 years and I love it! He knows what I like and his wife always baked chocolate chip cookies for the clients!
I really like to cook and bake…but it comes and goes in waves of how much I actually do it.
I can’t believe Brooke is so big!
Emily
I actually have 3 different people I’ll go to. Not sure if I have a favorite of the three.
Never run any kind of race!
8 or 9 for cooking and like, 12 for baking, haha.
Does Brooke have small feet? My daughter is 1 month younger than Brooke, and she can hardly keep size 1 shoes on her feet! Everything is too big!!
Cate
How dare Brooke grow up and stand up on her own. The nerve! ;)
I’ve not run a relay and am terrified of the evening legs!
I wanted to go to culinary school when I was younger, but now that I’ve been on my own for so long, I’ve really started to dislike cooking. It was a nice break to go to my parents last night or dinner and not have to cook! I own a small baking company, so I guess you could say I like to bake. :)
Have a good day!
Nicole @ Work in Sweats Mama
My typical hairstyle consists of pulling my hair into a ponytail. I just don’t know how to do anything else! I’ve never colored my hair, but right now I’m seriously contemplating it. My ponytail is sporting a lot more ‘sparkly’ strands these days. And my 1-year-old never seems to pull those out. Nope, she’ll pull out brown hair by the clumpful, but she leaves every gray hair firmly in place!
In 2007 I had the awesome opportunity to join an all-women’s team to run a 24-hour relay race in Nova Scotia. The Cabot Trail Relay was AMAZING and one of my top racing experiences.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
5 for cooking and 12 for baking… Dinner is overrated, but desserts definitely are NOT :D I’m actually going to get my hair cut at a new place this Friday. I used to go to the same hairdresser for years and years, but the past couple of times I’ve been trying something new to see if I can find one that really wows me. So far, no luck, so I’m going to keep looking.
Jennifer @ Healthy Wifestyles
I have gone to my hair dresser for 11 years (she even came to me the day of my wedding to do my hair), and I love her! I also started using WEN by Chaz Dean in January, and my hair has never been so conditioned (it holds the color longer ad better too since it is a cleansing conditioner). I would highly recommend it!!
Baking used to rank 10 for me, but I’m in a phase where it is probably a 7, and cooking is a 10.
Heidi
My cousin cuts my hair- thank God. She is way cooler than me and encourages me to take risks! :)
Never ran a relay- sounds like fun!
Cooking on days when I have the time to do it? 9. Cooking when I am late getting home from work and have to hurry out to a meeting? 1.
Karen
On a scale from 1-10, how much do I love cooking??? NEGATIVE-BAGILLION. I really hate cooking of any kind. I wish I loved it, I see people just gushing over baking and cooking and it looks like fun…but I just cannot muster any enthusiasm for it. We have “make-your-own” dinner all the time b/c mom just cannot bring herself to slave in the kitchen after a long day. LOL
Megan D
10 for both….unless you are factoring in all the dishes I have to clean, then maybe I will drop it down to a 7.
Ross asked me when I was pregnant with Annabelle how long it would be before I cut my hair after she was born. I was a little worried that he didn’t know me as well as I though after all the years we had been married! I would never cut my hair! lol. He thought is was just something everyone did after they had babies. I get WHY people to (the kids pulling it, it takes less time, etc) but it will still never happen for me. I just don’t think short hair would look good on me. I have been going to the same girl since we moved into our house – so 4 years. I don’t color my hair and it is so boring that I am sure Anna could probably cut it.
I have ran the Red Rock Relay and LOVED it. Probably one of the most gorgeous races I have ran. I have been invited to the Ragnar races 8 times now, but still have yet to do it. One day.
Hope you are doing better today. Love ya girl!
Anne
Petit Ecoliers !!!! Love those cookies :D And your playlists rock ! :) :)
Jill
Love Ragnar! I’m going to run my 3rd one this weekend, SoCal. You guys should do Napa. It was so beautiful.
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats
I’m like a 2 for cooking and an 8 for baking. Haha I don’t like cooking – it’s overwhelming! And I’d LOVE to do Ragnar, we were going to do it in Chicago this June but my group of friends are all really busy this year and coudln’t get it together. Maybe next year!
Sarah
You have the BEST play lists! Thanks for sharing!

Chelsea @ LittleOneRuns
No I haven’t ran a Ragnar, but I want to REAL bad!!! 10 for baking, and 8 for cooking :) I have been with the same girl since 1st grade, and just finished my 2nd year in college…..
Amanda
I had a great hairdresser and then he moved so I had to switch. I like the new girl but not as much as the one before. I love cooking when I have time and someone else cleans up. I hate doing dishes
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona
I love baking, but cookies is just kind of meh.
Ashlee
I love to cook! It’s almost as therapeutic as running :-)
Leigha
Aww Brooke is growing up so fast!! Omg I need some of that casserole. That looks awesome. I don’t have any special hair dresser I just go to whoever can get me in the fastest haha.
Charlotte @ Commitness to Fitness
Cooking 3, baking 9.5! I am horrible at eyeballing stuff, or adding a touch of this, a hint of that, which i feel are required skills for being a good cook. however, i can certainly add a teaspoon of this and a cup of that and suddenly cookies appear- i mean, whats better than that?
Lauren
I always put Flo Rida in my spin playlists! Something about that beat and his chorus just works!
Tiffany Dutson
Ragnars are fun! But sooo expensive:(
Alyssa @ See This Girl Run
I have not run Ragnar. I think it sounds a little miserable with either not sleeping or sleeping in uncomfortable places. But I think it needs to be on my running bucket list one of these times, so I can at least say I’ve done it. Maybe we could pick one and make a team of blog friends! ;)
I would say 6-7 overall for cooking. I do enjoy it when I do it, I just don’t have a lot of time/motivation to do it very much at the moment. Hopefully I’ll have time to explore the domestic side of me soon!
Taylor
Those cookies are the best! I love being in the kitchen cooking but my favorite is baking!
[email protected]
I love the playlist, thanks! I love baking, but cooking it depends on the day. I love it when it turns out well haha
Rachel @ Undercover Diva: A Sitcom
I love Can’t Hold Us! I specifically love the part (now it’s gonna get weird) when Ryan Lewis is like “Ma-a-a-a-a-a-acklemore” (hopefully you know what I’m talking about and I don’t look too crazy.)
I had the same hairstylist since I was a little girl because she’s my mom’s best friend, but now that I have short hair, I can’t wait the 6-9 months I used to between haircuts because then I can’t see anything..so now I have to go to strangers. It’s sad, really.
Cooking for me is a 9.5, baking is a 7. I love experimenting with food when I’m cooking :D
Macalla
Love cooking! And I’m totally going to try the egg casserole. It looks amazing.
Cathryn
Petit Ecolier chocolate cookies?? Where did you get them??? My favourite french biscuits and I haven’t had them since I moved here!!!!
shelly
I have the best hairdresser!! I’ve been going to her for about 15 years! Once I found her, I stopped going to the in/out places I was going to. I love cooking!! I could do it all day long. It doesn’t matter what I’m cooking/baking, I just love it!
Erin
That casserole looks amazing! I might have to try it…
And I’ve had the same hairstylist for a few years now.. I love her, she’s a friend and she does amazing things with hair.. I’m always up for a change so she deals with my constant, ‘I want to do this’ and then a few weeks later another ‘now I want to try this’ which are usually two completely different hairstyles. hahaha.
Liz @ Tip Top Shape
I bet Billy is going crazy with it being around finals time. I know I am. I love cooking. Probably somewhere around a 9 for both cooking and baking. It’s the best hobby – I mean, you get to EAT afterwards!
Kari @ Running Ricig
I’m not a huge fan of cooking, but baking is my favorite. We always have baked goods in the house. Mike said he has to keep running forever or he will get very fat.
I’ve been going to the same hairstylist since college. She’s awesome. I used to wait until I came home from school to go see her.
Amy N.
I have run a few ragnars – including one as a part of an all girls ultra team. Super fun. Super hard. I really want to have that much fun again without it being so hard.
I despise cooking. So I really, really appreciate when others cook for me. I love, love, love eating. We are excellent guests for dinner, feel free to invite us.
Rebecca Jo
Depends on the day what the level is for cooking… some days, I even get excited about it – others, please just stab me in the eye with a fork & pick up take out
Whitney
YAY!!! You used the Macklemore song!!!! :)
How did your spin class like it?? :)
Lisa @ Lisa the Vegetarian
I’d give cooking an 8. I love to make up new dishes on the fly in the kitchen, and I LOVE eating, so that’s probably why the number is so high. I have to say though, that after work, it’s really tough to get me in the kitchen because I just want to relax and do nothing!
Natalie @ Twenty-Something Talk
I don’t really have a hair person and I usually go like a year between getting it cut which is why it looks so BLEH most of the time. Oh well!
I agree, if cooking involves chocolate or copious amounts of sugar then it is WAY more fun, because obviously it means I will be licking the bowl. 10/10.
Roxanne @tribalancegirl
Hehehe… the hair eating is hilarious. That is why my hair is in a pony tail 99% of the time. One day I will do a Ragnar. There is one that goes from Huntington Beach to San Diego. It’s a good one.
I love to cook, but I’m the type that I don’t like a lot of mess OR for it to take forever!
[email protected]
That bake looks delish! I just recently found out what a Ragnar race was! I’m contemplating doing one in the va md area this summer!

I go to a hair school. They are totally supervised and do a good job. It just takes forever.

I loveeee my hairdresser. She has become such a good friend!! I LOVE cooking so a 10. I am awesome at baking and love it….so a 20! Can I do that!?! :-)

Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs
Brooke has the BEST facial expressions!
I think I’d give cooking an 8 and baking an 11 :)
Amy
I have yet to run a Ragnar. I want to try for next year. The one near me is actually this weekend. Last year I saw a few team vans and was so jealous. Next year, next year.
I enjoy cooking when I’m actually not too lazy to do it so a 7. I love to bake and decorate cakes with my mom (she is amazing) but keeping the sweets in the house is dangerous so I don’t do it often.
Stephanie Rigg
i really really really wish i could come to your spin class! you ALWAYS have THE best music. Music totally makes or breaks the class for me.
Nicole @ One Running Mama
No hairdresser. My friend (she’s a hairstylist) did a hair smoothing treatment on my hair about a year ago, and then she moved away. I can’t afford to go to a salon to get it done “for real” so…frizzy hair it is. I wear a pony 98.7% of the time. It’s really sad actually.
No relay. But Ragnar is on my bucket list for sure. We should do the SoCal one together! My hubby and Billy can be our drivers and we’ll wrangle up 10 other unsuspecting girls. It’d be awesome. :)
I really enjoy baking (let’s say a 8-9 on the scale) but would be thrilled if I had a personal chef to cook for me all the time. It’s a chore I don’t love at all. Which is probably why we spend far too much money eating out.
Katie
Baking gets a 10 for me, too. I can whip up anything having to do with sweets, cookies, cake, brownies, etc BUT give me some raw meat or any sort of “food” recipe and I kind of get much less confident. I’m working on it… Thanks for sharing your playlist! I’ll be running to it :)
xo
Caitlin
I LOVE my hair dresser and have been going to her for probably 7 years.
I seriously want to- after reading Meaghann’s recap of the one she did I’ve had it on my list!
I love to cook and bake- give them both 10’s. I don’t bake too often- not a fan of having enormous batches of sweets with a short expiration laying around the house.
MartinaNYC
Hi! I just found this on my running team’s FB pace and felt like sharing this with you. Such a wonderful story of kindness and gratitude…
https://www.facebook.com/lwell
Lizzie
I’ll run a ragnar with you!! I haven’t run one, either, and really want to!
Katy
Brooke is the cutest!!!!!!!
I’ve been going to the same hair dresser for 11 years. I randomly went to a Hair Dresser for a quick cut and loved the magic she created. I’ve followed her to 3 different salons and even travel 45 mins to see her now since I’ve moved out of the area. When I first moved I tried to find someone local, the guy messed up my hair and color so bad that I vowed to keep with my girl!!
Cooking/baking for me is a 10, LOVE to do it! I’m single so I don’t do fancy meals all the time but am always having friends over so I can cook for them! Let me know if you head to VA!!! :)

10 if it’s for myself, 7 if it’s just for the kids of the bf.
I am actually a licensed cosmetologist so I color my own hair. It’s nice to save so much money on my hair and kids cuts! Almost pays for my student loans.

All I want is to be in your spin class!

Two words: BROOKE’S THIGHS!!
So cute in that top picture!!

I actually just found a new hairdresser and I love her! Since I moved I needed to find a new one, and I got lucky with this lady. She did my hair just how I wanted!
And 10 for sure! I love cooking! If I had more money and more time I would cook so much more!
CatieB
I need to be better about trying new recipes. You’re so good!
Brooke is just the cutest!
Ryan and I are thinking of getting a Costco membership – do you and Billy use yours a lot?? Is it worth the $55 a year membership???
Becky
Did you see what stephen colbert said about Boston last night on his show?? I think you can relate to what he said about marathoners :)

Delicious looking! I want to eat the cookie first then the egg-bake :)
Debbie @ Deb Runs...
I really want to run in a Ragnar Relay, but our local one always falls on a weekend that my Hokies play at home and I not going to miss going to a game, even for an awesome race!
Ali @ Hit the Ground Running
I love Billy’s Ragnar shirt! I’m doing my first Ragnar next Feb…I’m so excited!
Suzanne @ Mixing It Up
I like to cook as long as I am not rushed. If I am crunched for time, I HATE IT!! Also, I like to do the cooking, not the cleaning so I have to factor that in, too. Mostly because I am a horrible messy cook!!
Lindsay
Hey suggestions for your ipad in the kitchen… i bought a cheap picture frame holder from the dollar store to use for when i bring mine in to watch shows when i’m cooking or reading recipes :D that way it’s off the counter and ya dont have to break the bank hehe
Get Fit With Krista
I love my hairdresser! I’ve been going to her for about 8 years!
Cooking I am definitely like a 3 (not a fan) and baking a 7. I like baking but always seem to ruin everything! Even the cookie dough you just pop in the oven! I always seem to burn the cookies!
Beth @ Mangoes and Miles
I don’t get my hair cut or colored that often. When I do, I base it more on prices than on anything else. I think having someone chop my hair off for $80 is slightly ridiculous!
I love cooking! I’m so sad that I can’t do more of it at college (because I live on campus, we’re required to have a meal plan, and I’m not about to go out and by unnecessary food when I already have food my parents paid for!).
Koryn @ High Heels & Healthy Alternatives
It’s a 10 for cooking when I have an awesome & fairly simple recipe…more of a 7 when it’s a routine/boring recipe that’s complicated. :-p
And yes, I have a good/regular hairdresser. I actually have 2 that I go to now… ha! The first I’ve been going to since college (whew! :-) and the other stylist I only go to occasionally or when I need my hair done during the week, since she’s expensive. Her salon is much closer to where I now live though, which makes it convenient. Gotta take the bitter with the sweet I guess to look good. ;-)
Alicia
Those cookies make the best s’mores!
Runningwithscissors
I’m a hairdresser so pretty much take care of everything myself. ;) once in awhile when I have a class my hair gets done by someone else. # amazing treat.
I tend to go in streaks with baking and cooking. Baking would be a 9 and cooking would be a 6.
That casserole looks phenomenal!!!!
In June I will be running my first 200 mile relay. Soooooo excited!!!!!!
Miranda @ Miranda Runs
hahahah BROOKE’S KNEES <3 I love her baby chub! It's adorable. 9 for baking and 6 for cooking!
Emily
Baking 10 AND cooking 10! But only when I’m by myself, I don’t usually enjoy cooking with others, it’s like my quiet/therapy time. And I love my hair dresser!

I might do a Ragnar in October and I’m really excited about it!
I do NOT have a hairdresser and I need one badly :(
Brooke has the best eyes! She’s adorable!
Kay
I love my stylist, and she is currently on maternity leave, and I refuse to go see anyone else haha.

Ragnar Relays are the BEST – I’m running Cape Cod in 2 weeks… I highly recommend it, they are challenging, fun and crazy all at once – plus the teamwork to reach the goal is fantastic. We ran Ragnar Adirondacks last year with a team that had 6 minute milers all the way to 12 minute milers, in the end it didn’t matter how fast you ran, just that you finished your legs so the team could complete the distance!
I’m also running a Relay Race in the NY Fingerlakes this weekend – Seneca 7 – can’t wait, our team is sporting tutu’s – it’s nice to be able to take the pressure off of a race event to just run around and have some fun.
Hope you can sign up for one – I’m sure you’d have a great time!!
Aniek
I’ve had to wait a whole month for an appointment with my trusted hairdresser (that’s testament to how good she is!) The worst thing is is that I was about 3 months overdue for some hair loving when I finally called to make the appointment! :s
Big fan of the relay race! I took part in a 24 hour, 10km relay cross country race here in the UK last summer and can’t wait for it again this year! We have a really fun team of seven running friends! There are some absolute champs that run it solo – so much admiration for those guys. There’s something magical about camping out, getting woken up at 4am and running 10km through the woods as the sun rises :) Get on it HRG!
Right there with you on the 7/10 love for cooking, 10/10 for baking!
Arrienne
I could watch Love it or List it all day!! I’ve never done a ragnar, but would like to. I just don’t like the thought of not sleeping in my bed haha
Logan @ Mountains and Miles
I really want to do a relay race. They have one in Colorado called “Get your ass over the pass” =) that goes over the continental divide that I really want to do sometime.
Peachylau
oh wow I used to eat these LU cookies all the time in France when I was younger. I have such a craving for them now.
Kristin
LOVE macklemore, that looks like a great playlist!

I just got home from my 13th Ragnar last night. My husband and I put teams of total strangers together, and then we bring all the gear and make all the arrangements so people can just show up and run (and sleep?) People like not having to think about the details, especially when they are sleep deprived. This was Cape Cod. Sleeping in a tent a 45 degrees is NOT what I like about Ragnar. There is usually a time between 1-3am when everyone thinks “Why the F am I here?!” But then the sun comes up and all is right with the world again and the FUN kicks back in. Let me know if you ever want to join us!! http://www.digitalrunning.com/events/
