My Dad will be so proud of me.

Brooke was super excited to finally see her bff again.  She even wore her fancy ponytail.  PS Brooke can hold a plank for like 8 minutes, don’t be too jealous.

Last night we had The 2013 Easter Egg Decorating Extravaganza.  Each couple was given 6 eggs to decorate.  EVERY year growing up (aka until I was 25) we dyed Easter eggs, one of my favorite traditions.

Turns out the boys weren’t really into the whole egg thing and instead laughed for a few hours straight while playing cards.

And the girls hung out together on the floor.

My Dad is an artist (an incredible one) so I think he is going to be very proud of my beautiful finished products:

We will all be eating hard-boiled eggs for the next week.  I am craving an egg salad sandwich so bad right now.

Then out of nowhere, Bangs Friend just whipped up a huge pazookie in approximately 10 minutes.

I promise I am not even exaggerating when I say this but this was the best Pizookie I have ever had.  The key is that the cookie dough has to be the best cookie dough ever and you really have to under bake the cookie so that it is super gooey.  I like it half-baked.  And vanilla bean ice cream must be on the top.

What are your Easter traditions?

Did you decorate Easter eggs this year?

Ever had a pizookie (a huge hot delicious cookie with ice cream on top)?

Is Bangs a chef or something? She always seems to be making the best things! Jealous! Happy Easter!

oh yes I am quite familiar with the pizookie :) Love them! Mixing cookies and ice cream? Best idea ever.
I didn’t decorate eggs this year. Honestly didn’t even think of it at all. Oops.
We have a huge Easter egg hunt at my grandparents’ but that’s not for a couple more weeks.

Well I just ran a 10 mi road race by my bf’s parents house yesterday and I told everyone I want it to be a family Easter tradition and they all have PLENTY of time to train for next years ;) Not a tradition yet but definitely a work in progress!

Happy Easter :)

I sooo want an egg salad sandwich… but I dont want to peel and mess up any of my pretty decorated Easter Eggs!!

Your eggs are so fun! I was going to decorate eggs with a classmate, but then something major came up in her family so we weren’t able to decorate eggs :/ It’s okay, they would have gone to waste anyways because I don’t eat eggs. I’ve been away from home on Easter the last few years, so I’ve spent it with friends. I have guests coming over for dinner in a few, and my house smells AMAZING so I cannot wait to eat.

I’m not a big fan of pizookies…don’t hate me :(

Hmm, I may need to try making a pazookie. That looks incredible!

I’ve made the kind of Easter eggs that you actually hollow out by blowing all the yolk etc out of a pin hole, so in theory you can keep them around…But then you can’t make deviled eggs with them, and those are the best, so you way seems better.

Wow that looks so tasty!!! I have never had one, but now I want to!!! We don’t normally do anything for Easter now, but I used to decorate eggs when I was younger. Mine were never as cool as your though – no sparkles!

I have never heard of a Pazookie but must have one asap. We had a very intense egg dying competition last night too. Def one of the greatest traditions.

How fun! I love Pizookies!

We always get lots of candy on Easter! I like peanut butter eggs, but that’s just me… ;) Nope, no dying eggs this year. Too busy! We did hard boil some though.

I’ve had pazookie before, but I had no idea that was what they were called! Good name, thanks for enlightening me :)

I need a pazookie. I’ve been wanting one for so long but no restaurants around here have them! Maybe I need to make one. Your Easter eggs are so colorful! I used to do te plain Jane ones and I haven’t gotten to dye them in years. Need to change that.

Tell Bangs Friend that we want the recipe!! ;)

Reply

how do you make a pazookie? Just regular cookie dough in a pie pan?

Reply

Pizookies are the BEST! And they must be undercooked and still warm! Your dad will definitely be impressed by your eggs :-) Beautiful!

We used to dye eggs every year while I was growing up, but somewhere along the way the tradition died and we don’t do it anymore. BUT! The good news is that we have a Polish tradition of filling an Easter basket with tonnes of food and taking it to church to bless it on the Saturday before Easter Sunday. That always makes it feel like the holidays :)

I have never heard of a pizookie…looks good though

What a fun day!! And omg I want that Pizookie soooooooo bad!

Awesome eggs and Pizookie!! I’ve never had one :( We always have 3 different Easter egg hunts and Elijah and I go to Sunday School together :) then a ham sooner at mom & dad’s.

Oh boy … that cookie is making my Passover-food-eating-self REALLY jealous! ;-)

Not a big fan of warm desserts…I know I’m weird! I like my apple pie and brownies etc…out of the fridge lol.
We decorated eggs! I do them with my 3 year old. And we do an egg hunt at my parents house and my house on Easter. Other than that…we go to the early morning church service and have a big dinner at my parents.
Happy Easter!!!!!

Great work on the Easter egg decorating! they’re awesome… I haven’t done it since I was a kid. Looks like so much fun!

Happy Easter to you and your family, Janae!
That first picture is adorable and made my day! haha!

We always have Easter dinner of some sort. I usually try to cook but this year we went out to one of our favorite restaurants.

I can’t remember the last time that I actually dyed eggs, but I look forward to doing it when my daughter is old enough.

I want that pazookie now…I will have to make due with my multiple bags of Cadbury Mini eggs :).

I think that “half-baked” is the Golden Rule for sweet baked desserts (except maybe pies). Cookies and brownies should DEFINITELY be soft and gooey and only slight warmed. :)

Reply

Pazookies are the BOMB! Maybe my favorite dessert of all time. Nothing beats a hot fresh from the oven cookie with ice cream on top! Drooling just thinking about it.

Reply

That cookie looked so good! Please tell me you ate the whole thing… just the two of you! My bf in high school and I used to make chocolate pudding pies and then sit with two forks and eat the whole thing. Ah… memories!
Glad you had a great Easter :)

My family and I get together every Easter (my dad is one of 10 kids!) This year we went to Brentwood and we went on a walk. Around mile 2 it started pouring rain, and I mean POURING!! I was soaked! Finally went running in the Rain!

I’ve never had a Pizookie, but that looks amazing and I might be already addicted to half baked cookies. I know what I’ll be dong tomorrow =)

Reply

I’ve never called it a pizooki and I don’t know why because even the name makes me laugh.

Reply

We don’t really have any good Easter traditions. My mom still did egg hunts up until a few years ago, but now that my siblings don’t always come home, we don’t really do it anymore.

Reply

Your eggs turned out great! It has been way too long since I had a pizookie. last time i had one was at BJ’s resturant, it was so good. I might have to go back just to have one again. We did decorate eggs this weekend. I tried going the natural dye route this year, most of them turned out good. I even did a blog post on it over the weekend.

Reply

YUM!! Now I’m totally craving a pizookie!

And your eggs turned out WAY better than mine! I love the idea of an egg-dying party, I may have to do that with my friends and our littles next year!

Reply

Mmm pizookie (though I have never heard it called that before!). My mom makes me one every year for my birthday (yes, even now… at 26) AND this year my coworkers got me one, too!

No Easter traditions here… maybe when we have some kiddos around ;)

Happy Easter!

I think your eggs are beautiful!

I have never heard of a pizookie. First brookies, now pizookies… You are teaching me so much about desserts! Every year I make an Easter Buny cake, and this year his head fell off!

Totally jealous of Brooke’s planking skills ;)

Such artfully dyed eggs! Lovely! We dyed Easter eggs at my parents house and again, one of the guys didn’t really care to dye them. I wonder why? I mean, who doesn’t like to dye eggs??

Pizookie’s are soooo yummy.

I had an egg salad sandwich for dinner! Man it hit the spot!! Your eggs are beautiful :)
