It’s that time again….

My run this morning wasn’t so great at all so instead we are going to talk about way cooler things like picnics and eating Easter candy.

For lunch I met my bff from college at a park near her work for some lunch.  People here think I am crazy for being in summer clothes already.

I seriously love reminiscing with this friend about our crazy college days of calling our own snow days and staying home from class and watching The Hills all day or our crazy nights hanging out at 7-11 drinking slurpees.

Lunch that was packed in approximately 12 seconds.

On an extremely random note, I gave Brooke my phone to play with and when I took it back 2 minutes later this was on the screen:

She unlocked it, entered in the number for the text message and sent a picture of a house to #=$}]{#.8.  We have a baby genius on our hands Billy.

It’s that time of year again where we have a friendly debate about the absolute best Easter candy ever.

Your options are:

A.  Cadburry Mini Eggs

Cadbury

B.   Jelly Beans (starburst jelly beans included)

C.  Cadbury Creme Eggs  (or the Cadburry caramel filled egg)

D.  Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs

E.   The classic chocolate bunny (even though these ones look kind of creepy).

Easter canada candy

F.  Sour Patch Kid Bunnies.

Sour patch bunnies

G.  PEEPS.

Sorry you didn’t have a good run. I am not sure it is possible to decide between starburst jelly beans and mini eggs. I love them both so much!

Reply

Peeps peeps peeps peeps. My husband says they are not for eating- only for decorating the basket. Yeah right!

Reply

I just had the Reese’s Eggs and they are the bomb! I was so surprised how good they were! I’ll be filling the girls’ basket with those for sure. And then they’ll have to share :)

Reply

I don’t like chocolate as a rule, so out of your selection, only the reese’s eggs appeal. I agree about college bffs. I could sit and remember college with those friends for ages!

Reply

Grrr! Hopefully the run improves soon! Glad you moved on to way cooler things though. This is a very important issue you have brought up so I hope people take it seriously! I say Cadbury mini eggs!!! And also dove bunnies. DEFINITELY NOT PEEPS. So gross! Although microwaving them and watching them grow and explode is cool that’s about where it ends.

Reply

Reese’s Eggs! Reese’s Santas…Reese’s Pumpkins…Reese’s anything, please.

Reply

Sorry your run didn’t go so well! A. Cadbury Mini Eggs FOR SURE get my vote, followed by D. Reese’s Eggs.

Reply

Peeps!!!! PEEPS!!!! PEEPS!!!!

Reply

Mini Eggs are hands down the best Easter candy ever. I remember going all out and stocking up on them big time when they were only available during this time of the year, but thankfully they now come out around Christmas too, so I only need to buy a 6 month supply at a time instead of a 12 month one ;)

Reply

C and D… All the others are just for decoration :)

Reply

Definitely cadbury mini eggs!!!

Reply

I laughed out loud (in class) at that text message that Brooke sent. Not only did she send a house, she was about to send that picture of that hospital. Hopefully that wasn’t a hidden message. I’d have to say that I would choose Reese’s eggs as my favorite. Peanut Butter and Chocolate is a “no-lose” situation in my book.

Reply

Starburst Jelly Beans!!!!

Reply

Cadbury eggs and reeses’ eggs for life! Also….ever try Zitners Chocolate covered eggs? There are a lot of different kinds and ohhh so good!! My fav are the dark chocolate covered coconut eggs and the butter cream egg. I binged on swedish fish today and some brookside dark coco pomegranate bites. Ughhh. Can’t help it!! :)

Reply

I’m going for D. It always seems that the peanut butter-chocolate ratio is so much better when they put them into fun shapes!! Runner-up would probably be B, definitely the Starburst kind!!

I’ve never seen Sour Patch Bunnies!! I’ll definitely be on the lookout for them!! :-)

Reply

Jelly Beans!! I’ve already eaten TWO bags by myself this season…

Reply

Definitely cadbury mini eggs!

Reply

Ahhh! Such a difficult decision. I love all fruity candy. I think for Easter, I’d have to choose Peeps because they’re so Eastery. :c)

Reply

omg, EASTER CANDY my fav. I love recees eggs, see’s scotchmallow eggs (everyone needs to try these now), and the chocolate bunnies… obviously i am a chocolate addict

Reply

Cadbury mini eggs and Reese’s eggs are tied in my mind! I couldn’t choose between them! Yum! Easter really has the best candy, hands down!

Reply

I love that when I married my husband he kept a candy jar in the living room…as a bachelor he would keep it filled with the same boring thing!! Then he got married, I moved in and I switch depending on the holiday!!!! So what’s in it now?? Starburst Jelly Beans!!!! I love coming home to that jar after my long runs:-)

Reply

Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs. No question.

The Kidless Kronicles

Reply

Definitely E. – whopper robin eggs.

You are such an inspirational person. If I were you I’d be dwelling on the run, but you always find the positive.

Reply

definitely…..A) Cadbury Mini Eggs and D) Reese’s!

Reply

Reese’s PB eggs without a shadow of a doubt!

Reply

ooh the mini eggs for sure! i bought some robins egg candy at williams sonoma the other day and they were white chocolate. such a disappointment when i thought they were a chocolate fudgy truffle when i bought them.

Reply

PEEPS!! Or how about a candy salad with A-G (minus the black jellybeans) plus any others?

Reply

My Easter tradition is to have jousting Peeps. Put a toothpick horizontally through each of them, facing each other on a plate. Put plate in microwave and heat them up. Both will puff up, first one to poke and deflate the other wins. :)

Reply

oh man…. this is tough…. Can I just say all the chocolate candy???? haha

Tomorrow’s run will be better :)

Reply

Random question for you: where did you get the long white tank that you wear under your shirts? I can’t seem to find one long enough.
I can’t choose a favorite candy. I love them all equally (except the sour patch kids).

Reply

Hey Melissa! I love long white tanks and my favorites are from Nordstrom rack!

Reply

Cadburry Mini Eggs and Peeps coming in a close second.

Reply

I think you need to have two distinct categories here, to be complete and all, lol:
Chocolate and Other!
For chocolate, I vote Cadbury mini eggs. They have the perfect chocolate to crunch ratio. For other, Starburst jelly beans. So perfectly tart and chewy! What more could a girl want?

Reply

Peeps and cadbury caramel filled eggs!!! <3 <3 <3

We all have bad runs, but the good mostly out weigh them :) Hopefully, you feel better and have many more good runs soon.

Reply

Bummer that your run wasn’t so great, but I like the way you didn’t let it get you down, and decided to move on to other important matters! My choices: Easter colored M&M’s or those pecan covered cream eggs….

Reply

PEEPS. Hands down, peeps are my favourite and always will be. I am SO EXCITED to eat like a million of those bad boys. As for specifics, I’m going to have to say I prefer the bunnies over the chicks, but you know. That’d be silly. ;)

xo

Reply

I just bought a 4-pack of that exact same yogurt, should I be psyched for breakfast tomorrow?
And anything chocolate without too much milk ties for top place, so here those are the bunnies and Reese’s cups :) Only wait – caramel in a chocolate shell? Dangg

Reply

No contest–Reese’s peanut butter eggs! I also like peeps but more just the way they look, plus they are made in my hometown. I do microwave a peep or two every Easter (it’s a tradition in my family to put it in the microwave and watch it plump up then eat it while its warm), but Reese’s are just more delicious!!!

Reply

Bumpy Nerds jellybeans- although I haven’t seen them out yet!!!

Reply

I am sorry your run was not good…but you know what that means? I great run is on the horizon!

My kids have taught me how to do things on my phone. No joke.

You say ‘starburst included’ like they aren’t THE ONLY jellybeans that matter?? In my books they are. And while I love em, I would have to go with those devil mini eggs and the egg shaped PB cup. What is it about that shape that makes them so much better than any other shape??

Reply

Cadbury Eggs (C) for sure!
Sorry your run was a bummer.
Glad you got to have lunch with an old friend!!

Reply

Peeps are clearly the best classic. Eyes must be eaten first.

My boyfriend and I always get the holiday shaped Reese’s for every holiday… but the eggs are the best for some reason (we’ve tested this).

But you have missed the best Easter candy. White chocolate M&Ms available only at Target during Easter. I have stocked up for the entire year, don’t you worry. These are an absolute must.

Reply

I’m not a regular chocolate lover but I LOVE white chocolate and those M&Ms are yummy! When I was a little girl the Easter bunny used to bring me a big white chocolate rabbit, smart bunny!!

Reply

jelly beans for sure! starburst are good, but I’m dying to try those swedish fish ones you posted a while back – haven’t been able to find them :(

Reply

CADBURY mini eggs. For sure. No question.

Reply

Definitely Cadbury Mini Eggs! No question.

Reply

I’d have to go with the classic chocolate bunny or the Reeses Peanut Butter Egg. I’m really not a sugar person..and peeps creep me out!!

Reply

Peeps is the clear winner. It is a must have in the Easter basket. In college, my roommates and I would have a stash year round! It is always a good day to have a peep!

Reply

I gotta go with Peeps. They’re the go-to Easter candy in this household. I especially love them stale. I guess it’s weird, but I can’t help what I like!

Reply

Peeps! I am eating way too many of them right now!

Reply

I think I missed your blog about your injury. I’m so sorry! What happened? I have been training for the annual OKC Memorial marathon, my first, and my stupid IT Band decides to rear it’s ugly head. Had no idea what it was, and even more, how stubborn it is to heal! Ugh! I’m bummed too.
But nothing that a handful of Cadbury eggs can’t “temporarily” make things better! Ha! Love your blogs!! Brookie is presh! I hope you heal faster than me. :(

Reply

Starburst Jelly Beans FTW, followed closely by the mini eggs. I eat the Starburst jelly beans year round though so they are more of any everyday candy for me, not reserved for holidays.

Reply

Assorted sours Jelly Belly brand. Yum! Starburst jelly beans are good too. Basically anything fruity and chewy.

Reply

Cadbury mini eggs followed by some jelly beans.

Reply

Oh my gosh, this is a no-brainer. You cannot go wrong with a Reese’s Easter egg. I know, I know, you can get a Reese’s anytime, but they just taste DIFFERENT in Easter egg format, you know?!

Reply

Ugh such a tie between Cadbury Cream Eggs and Reeses Peanut Butter Eggs. Great now I have to have both…………….

Reply

Oh my word! I can’t pick one Easter candy! Starburst jelly beans are by far the best jelly bean out there…. but I love Peeps (have you ever roasted one or put one in the microwave for a few seconds?? you should try it)…. and Reese’s eggs!!! I love all of the candies you mentioned except for the chocolate bunny.

Reply

sorry your run was less than desirable. i believe you’ll be back to it in no time though. you’re the runner girl.

brooke is a genius :)

mini eggs compliment the jellybeans. therefore you NEED both!

Reply

I’m sorry about your run! That is super frustrating!!! Peeps are super gross!!! I have to say sour jelly bellys! They did not make your list but they are awesome!!!!

Reply

Cadbury mini eggs are 100% the best! Second place would have to be Hershey’s chocolate coated eggs. 3rd place, Reese’s eggs :)

Reply

starburst jelly beans are the best candy around at easter time!!!

Reply

Reece’s… It’s a way of life.

Reply

PEEPS!

Reply

STARBURST JELLY BEANS!!!!

Reply

Reese’s eggs or Milky Way bunnies. Or caramel cadburys. Ohhh it’s too hard to decide! Def not the regular Cadbury eggs though, the creme is gross.

Reply

Hahahaha that text is so funny :P
And I’d have to go with the Reese’s for SURE!

Reply

Easter candy is by far the best holiday candy ever! It’s a close call, but I’d say Reese’s Eggs come in first with Cadbury Creme Eggs in a close second. I also love those Whopper Eggs!

Reply

I’m so sorry your run wasn’t good this morning :( Boooooo. I hope Billy gets you lots of Easter candy to make you feel better. My fave are the Cadbury Mini Eggs – I think they have the perfect amount of dense chocolate-to-crunchy shell!

Reply

I love the little cream filled cadbury cream eggs..the big ones used to be my fav but now I’m a gma and they are too sweet for me :)

Reply

Reese’s Eggs… HANDS DOWN! :)

Reply

This is seriously the hardest choice ever! I think mine has to be the Jelly Beans.. both Starburst and those cheapo ones, especially the purple and hot pink flavors. But my Easter basket MUST have every item on the list or I am one sad girl.

Reply

Cadbury mini eggs. Hands down. I have already purchased “some” and am trying to instill in my 3 boys that these are the best and you MUST get as many packages for mommy as you can. Hopefully this works and my basket is filled.

Reply

Can I just say I saw this blog post title on Twitter and immediately KNEW it would be about Easter candy… Great minds I tell ya! Easter has too much good candy to choose from. I guess I would go with C — Cadbury Eggs.

Reply

A, hands down. Not even a question. :)

Reply

Have you tried the carrot cake m&m’s?

Reply

Have you seen the Cadbury Mini Eggs–DARK CHOCOLATE???? So good!

Reply

It’s not a fair choice to make!!! I can’t decide between starburst jellybean a (I’ve been averaging 4 bags a week) peeps or Cadbury eggs. I need to take a trip to the store now.

Reply

reese’s pieces easter peanut butter pastel eggs

Reply

A!!! Mini Eggs!

And other: The Snickers PB Eggs!! They have the PERFECT ratio of Snickers: Chocolate: Peanut butter.

Jelly beans, peeps, and cadbury eggs are probably my least liked candies of all candy.

Reply

I must tell you that Brooke is just too adorable :)
Three favorite Easter candies…Cadbury Cream Eggs, Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs, and….Peanut Butter M&M’s…they are little egg shapes and bigger than usual :)

Reply

I love the Reese’s Eggs–perfect ratio of chocolate and peanut butter.

Reply

cream eggs!

Reply

Cadburry Mini Eggs by a long shot!!!

Reply

Cadbury Cream Eggs! But I only actually eat the center, I don’t care much for the chocolate, but after eating one of those I usually have enough energy to clean my house top to bottom.

Unrelated note, I finally got to try the Trader Joe’s Cilantro salad dressing you recommend and OMG its fantastic! Not so fantastic for my breath but oh well.

Reply

Ummmm, I think I’m on my 6th bag of jelly beans this month!! Ha! My poor baby will be addicted to sugar like me! Ack! How fun to connect with your friend!! :)

Reply

Oh my gosh, Reeses peanut butter eggs for sure!!! Although, I’m kind of into those chocolate covered marshmallow eggs, too…

Reply

TOTALLY the Cadbury Mini Eggs. Or as I like to call them Those Amazing Little Chocolate Eggs With Delightful Crispy Shells That I Buy A Million Of The Minute I Spot Them On The Shelves.
And black jelly beans…because I am a weirdo. :)

Reply

C or D! I can’t decide. It’s like Sophie’s Choice!

Reply

Every single day of the year I would say Sour Patch Kids, but on Easter – hands down the best candy is Cadbury Cream Eggs. There is nothing better than digging into that foil covered egg of creamy goodness!

Reply

Cadbury eggs are the bomb dot com. I think the Easter M&M’s are the best though! Pastel colors are purrty :)

Reply

I cannot wait for lent to be over – I need me some Cadbury creme eggs! May have to stock-pile for April to make up for missing them in Feb and March!

Reply

Mini Eggs are my absolute favorite! Though a couple years ago I ate WAY too many, and since then I haven’t been able to eat them much, but I still call them my favorite.

On the flip side my least favorite are peeps. As much as I like marshmallows, I hate them in candy or cookies. I only like them by themselves and fire roasted.

Reply

Cadbury Cream alllllll the way! I love those things like nobodies business! I gave us sweets for Lent so I told my boyfriend that there’d better be a few of those in my Easter basket if he knew what was good for him. :) After that, its on to finally eat my Valentines candy.

Reply

Sorry your run didn’t go too well.

I’m indecisive as always and can’t decide between Cadbury Mini Eggs and Creme Eggs. Just to confuse me even more, Cadbury have brought out a new chocolate egg called Egg ‘n’ Spoon which is filled with chocolate mousse. I need to try it!

Reply

D with A as a close second!!

Reply

Reese’s!!!!
And that phone screen shot made me laugh out loud :)

Reply

Reeses eggs are ridiculously good.

Reply

Cadbury Mini Eggs for the win. I also used to LOVE Robin Eggs….yummy! Thank God these things aren’t around all year.

Reply

MINI EGGS!
HANDS DOWN :)

Reply

Bummer about your run, hope it wasn’t bad because of pain or injury. I’m so weird because I don’t care for Easter candy. I don’t like peeps or Cadbury eggs or jelly beans, can’t stand the “fake” chocolate in the bunnies-see I’m weird. But I would eat a gold brick egg :)

Reply

Cadbury Mini Eggs are DEFINITELY my favorite Easter candy of all time. Followed closely by Starburst/Jolly Rancher Jellybeans and Cadbury Cream Eggs though. Oh man, now I can’t wait for my Easter basket! (My mom still gives me one even though I’m 25. I’ve trained her well ;))

Hope better runs are just around the corner for you!

Reply

Brooke’s jacket – LOVE! So adorable, and so on-trend.

Candy, I have to go with Mini Eggs. I’m on/off about the dark version of them; I don’t know if I like them or just think I should like them because they are dark and are theoretically better for me. Or at least as good as something sugar coated could be.

Reply

One cannot simply chose a favorite candy?!? That’s like asking Jan Brady to pick a favorite child. No way. I am in LOVE with Reeses eggs AND peeps… :)

Reply

The Reeses eggs…you got chocolate you got peanut butter and you have an awesome ratio of the two. It’s really no competition

Reply

Mini Eggs get my vote! They taste so much better since you can only get them at a certain time of year.

Reply

I think it’s a tie between Mike & Ike Jellybeans and the Reese’s Egg! Also– I am dying laughing at Brooke’s text message! Lol.

Reply

Only and I mean ONLY because hot cross buns are non existent in the states, I will have to say Cadbury Creme eggs. Hands down.

Reply

Mini Eggs all the way. Those things are dangerously addictive.

Reply

Whopper Robin Eggs!! I don’t know why they are so much better than regular whoppers, but they are seriously addictive! It’s a slippery slope my friend.. caution.

Reply

I forgot about those! <3 them too!!

Reply

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh reeses or cadbury eggs. Love them both. If they had dark chocolate reeses eggs, THAT would be my absolute favorite.

Also–I hope that your run was not bad because of your knee :(

Reply

1. Reese’s
2. Cadbury Mini eggs
3. regular Cadbury eggs

Reply

Jelly beans – hands down! Also, super impressed with Brooke right now!

Reply

Sweet Tart’s jelly beans and Sweet Tart’s bunny gummies!!! I’ve already gone through 2 bags of each! Ooops!

Reply

Sweettart Jelly Beans!!! Oh, my goodness…I stumbled upon these when I was buying candy to fill for Easter eggs. I love sweettarts…and these are magnificent!!!

Reply

But anything chocolate, too!!! Cadbury and Reese’s eggs!!!

Reply

Jelly beans are the best!!

Reply

Reester Eggs (yes that was intentional( are by far the best chocolate Easter candy!! Close second is Starburst jelly beans

Reply

Like most have mentioned its so so hard to choose. I love candy so sour patch kids are definitely up there but also love cadbury cream eggs FROZEN…try it, so so good.

Reply

reese’s pb eggs! =)

Reply

Hands down Cadbury Mini Eggs! I recently finished off my first bag of the dark chocolate ones. I thought I would love them and I didn’t. This surprised me because I usually prefer dark over milk. The milk chocolate ones are currently on my grocery list!

Reply

CADBURY MINI EGGS! hands down. there is no debate. haha! i wait for these every Easter!

Reply

Uh oh. I hope things aren’t too bad or anything! Brooke has the same skills I do when it comes to text messaging! I looove peeps but jelly beans are a close second. Do they make peep flavored jelly beans?! That would be perfect.

Reply

Mini egss. Just don’t even say anything else. Mini eggs.

Reply

Mini eggs, mini eggs, mini eggs.

Reply

It’s not even close. Peanut butter eggs! Pure deliciousness.

Reply

This is SO HARD because Easter candy is my all time favorite candy! When I was a teen, I used to seriously eat a bag of Starburst jelly beans at a time. Then it was peeps, then it was cadbury cream eggs (seriously, I sound like I could be like 300 lbs!) – but my all-time favorite is now the cadbury mini eggs. YUMMY!!!!

Reply

Tie between Cadbury mini eggs and Cadbury cream eggs!! I’m a Cadbury lover 4 everrrrr! :)

Reply

Its not even a contest…Canbury cream egss…best candy ever!

Reply

Um this was really hard for me because I kept thinking I had made my mind up but then would change it as I scrolled down. I think I have to call it a tie between Mini Eggs and Starburst jelly beans! Chocolate and fruity candy are two different food groups in my opinion. :) I am thinking I will use starburst jelly beans for fuel on a half marathon I am running on the 24th!

Reply

Cadbury Creme Eggs. No question, they are the clear winner!

Reply

Cadbury Mini Eggs, duhhhh! :)

Reply

D!

And I was laughing hysterically for like 5 minutes over that text message. I am amazed

Reply

Best baby text ever! Max figured out how to phone my friends from work once…..

Hmmmm…..mini eggs!!

Reply

Jelly Beans!! PB eyes used to be my favorite – but with 2 allergic kiddies in the house no PB here. :(

Reply

Cadbury mini eggs are THE BEST! ;)

Reply

Holy crap, mini eggs all the way…but specifically the dark chocolate variety.
Since i’m on a mission to lose 50lbs from the past two pregnancies (already down 30!) I won’t be partaking in these all that much this year and that makes me shed a tear or five :)

Reply

Peeps.

Especially the pink bunnies.

Reply

Reeses eggs or Sour Patch Bunnies!!

Reply

I cant decide between A,C,and D. Please dont make me ;)

Reply

Sorry about your sad run. Remember…you’ll be 100% soon and appreciate running even more than usual!! Sometimes an injury is necessary to put everything in perspective—like appreciating our health. :(
Ok, don’t block me from your blog, BUT….I’m not a candy fan at all. I know,I have a problem. I will place a vote for my sister, though, Reeses PB eggs!

Reply

Reese’s PB eggs but that is a tie with my other absolute fave….mini robin eggs. OMG…..simply heaven! Also, I consumed a bag of carrot cake M & M’s in about 36 hours all by lonesome. I bought them with the mindset that they would not be too tasty but I looooooved them. Yesterday I was pretty much sick from Easter candy overload. Nice.

Reply

Thanks a lot. Now I have to go to the store tomorrow and get a lifetime supply of Easter egg shaped whoppers.

Reply

Reese’s eggs! Everyone has a favorite Reese’s shape, it’s the law. I thought for a long time that I didn’t have a favorite shape because I like the regular ones better than all the shapes, but then my friend made me realize that my favorite shape is simply “cup” cuz I like the crispy edges. What’s your favorite shape??

Reply

Cadbury mini eggs!!! I live for Easter time just so I get to have those little bites of goodness!! I just love the crunchy outer shell and then biting into the creaminess of the chocolate. Perfect combination.

Which one is your fave?

Reply

Suzanne,
Do you know that they make them in red, green, and white at Christmas time?? So now we can enjoy them twice a year!

Reply

Definitely Reese’s PB eggs! I saw them today and it was all I could do to just walk away! Sour Patch Kids are pretty amazing though!

Reply

Cadbury creme eggs, I must stay out of CVS to avoid these little gems. I like to eat the center first and then the chocolate.

Reply

I’m sorry? You said choose one? IMPOSSIBLE!
Reese’s, peeps and I’ve recently (this past weekend) discovered cadbury chocolate creme eggs!

Have mercy for this time of year!

Reply

A hands down!

Reply

I just want to encourage everyone to please think about buying organic or fair trade chocolate this Easter. Chocolate from the big candy companies (Nestle, Cadbury, Hershey’s and Mars) is all made with cocoa produced through child slave labor in West Africa. This needs to stop, and the best way to do it is to vote with our dollars…and encourage others to do the same.

More information here: http://eatocracy.cnn.com/2012/04/04/slavery-free-chocolate/

And I wrote a post on my own blog regarding my thoughts on the subject: http://dagbeproject.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-simple-truth-about-chocolate.html

I really don’t mean for this comment to come across as judgmental or to make anyone feel bad…I just want to raise awareness. My brother founded an organization that works to prevent child trafficking in the West African country of Benin and reunite children who have been rescued with their families, so I am very aware of the reality of child trafficking and slavery and it breaks my heart…especially when it’s all happening to satisfy our desire for something like chocolate, which is really a luxury item and not a necessity.

Thanks for reading.

Reply

A, those darn eggs by far! I can’t buy them…it’s SO dangerous when I do.

Reply

I have already devoured 2 packages of Peeps. I basically love everything listed above. There is nothing I would eliminate!
