I don’t know how I feel about this and part of my new strength training plan

Brooke keeps taking long, I mean LONG, morning naps and it is starting to bother me.  I really just want to wake her up to hang out with me but I guess that probably wouldn’t be the nicest thing to do.

Speaking of Brooke and her sleeping, I have decided on the theme for her nursery and this is one of the posters that will go on the wall.  Best song ever.

Second best song lately:

Stay by Rhianna.

It isn’t a workout song but it is the song that I have been listening to on repeat in the car.  I really like music so that is probably another reason that I love running… listening to music while getting high on endorphins= the best.

This morning before spin I tried a new workout that I have never ever done before.  I watched some youtube videos yesterday on how to use the rowing machine correctly and crossed my fingers that it wouldn’t hurt my IT Band.  Verdict= killer workout, felt great on my leg and made me sweat.  I think I did 5000 meters but have no idea what that really means but my core is already sore.  For spin I just kept my tension very very light and no problems.  Today is the first day that I am feeling it really getting better.

We (Billy actually did but I want to take all of the credit) found the best topping for our yogurt.  We get our yogurt at Costco and the Muesli from TJ’s took it up to the next level.   By the way, Billy and I have been trying to figure out what the advantage is for putting the fruit at the bottom of yogurt?  Why don’t they just mix it in in the first place?

I am really sorry for the randomness of this post but my brain really is everywhere and I can’t stop the madness. How old were you when you first went to Disneyland?

And last but not least my new running coach just sent me a list of things to get for my strength training plans that he will be giving me….

-Bosu Ball

-Medicine Balls

-Kettle Balls

-Resistance Bands

-Loop Bands

-Fitness Resistance Balls

-Fitness Dumbells

Ummmmmm I am sore from just reading the list.

————————————————————————-

Do you ever use any of the above strength training tools (besides the dumbbells, I am pretty sure we all have used those at some point)?

-I have never used a kettle ball or a loop band!

Ever tried the rowing machine?

How old were you when you first went to Disneyland?

What toppings do you put on your yogurt?

I need to be better about strength training. As in, I need to actually do it, because I sneakily hide from the weight room at practice which is only hurting me so there’s no need to hide, really. I went to Disney when I was 4. Love it. My dream is to run the princess half. And the goofy challenge. And basically any other excuse to run in the parks. Brooke is one lucky girl!

Reply

I used the resistance loops for a circuit class I was teaching, and I really liked them. And then I saw them in Runners World, which made me feel uber special. Obviously.

I use a body bar, dumbbells, ball and resistance band on a fairly regular basis. I also keep meaning to use the Swiss ball more for core work but have thus far been too lazy.

5000 metres is 5K, which is just over 3 miles! ;)

Try Craigslist to buy used equipment – you can get some great deals that way!!

Reply

I tried the rowing machine for the first time last week and boy was that a good workout. Although now that you mention it I should probably check out some YouTube videos to make sure I’m doing it correctly.

Reply

I can’t wait to see Brooke’s nursery!!! Never used a rowing machine but I’ve heard they are killer. Fro yo toppings are cookie dough and brownies! Sometimes Reese’s or snickers or something else chocolate :-) please never apologize for your randomness I love it!!

Kettle bell workouts are great! My school gym offers kettle bell classes and I always leave feeling like I got a full body workout

Reply

Yogurt toppings- gummy bears all the way. Yep, I’m cool with only one topping. It’s simple yet amazing. I may even get some this afternoon.

I’ve used all of those strength training tools at some point… and none of them consistently. : )

Call me a grinch but I’m not a Disneyland kinda gal! I went once in high school with friends but I’d rather hit up the mountains or the beach…

Reply

I like how you mean (healthy) yogurt toppings and I automatically assume you mean fro-yo….

I have a kettle bell (or is it kettle ball?) that barely gets any use. I got it when I bought a workout DVD but the workout scared me and made me think I was going to snap my wrists so I didn’t try it again. I occasionally swing it around without a DVD though. I LOVE Disneyland. I am from LA so we used to go all the time growing up. I remember one time my parents surprised us by blasting some Disney song in the morning to wake us up and told us we were ditching school and going to Disneyland. It must have been exciting because I still remember it a million years later.

Reply

I have to go with the Disney question first – We have taken all of our boys to Disney starting at 6 months. They love everything they see, have no opinions on what we do, and they are FREE!! I really love taking them from 1-2yrs of age. Best Time. :)

I’ve looked at a Rowing machine. Does this count? (just kidding. I have used one before but never as a routine)

Love Special K’ Bit of Honey Granola on my yogurt. :)

Reply

Ahhh I LOVE Disneyland!! Me and hubby had annual passes 2 years in a row, and this year we didn’t, and it’s sad :( Because I seriously NEVER get sick of that place! I think the first time I went I was 10. And we went a few times growing up. LOVE love love that place. As for yogurt toppings, I love mixing it with cottage cheese and cut up bananas and berries, yummm.

I strength train at a local Power Cut class for 65 minutes, twice a week, and we use almost all that equipment in never-pausing-to-get-a-sip-of-water workouts. Loop bands are deceptively tough but I’ve never tried a kettle ball (yet). My half-marathon training plan calls for strength training twice a week, and this class really kicks my butt! I also think I’m the oldest one there, LOL!
I’ve used the rowing machine on my hubby’s bow flex once in a while, but it’s kind of boring.
Believe it or not, I’ve only just started eating yogurt and haven’t tried anything on top yet!
Love the picture of sleeping Brooke….

Reply

AND I love love Disneyland -much nicer than Disney World in my opinion (smaller is better in this context). Like Sarah I’d like to one day run the Princess Half in the park <3

Reply

DO IT! The Princess Half is totally worth the money, the experience is AMAZING! I’m running it again this February (hopefully!!!!!)

Reply

I LOVE granola on my yogurt. And my first trip to Disneyland is this August – for the half marathon weekend!

Where did you find your running coach?? I’ve been interested in getting one.

Reply

Those are all on my list for an at home gym. We have some already but are missing a few.

I love granola on my yogurt and I’m really digging kind snacks granola right now.

Reply

I love the rowing machine!I’m also doing that before my spin class tonight! I use to go to Disneyland all the time. I was probably about Brooke’s age when I first went.

Reply

I love the Concept2 rowing machine!! My husband bought me one several weeks ago. I do it on my non run days. I also did 5000m last night:). It’s gonna give you some killer arms!

Reply

The one and only time I went to Disneyland I was in Kindergarten or grade 1. I remember it, but my brother who was only 3 or 4 at the time only remembers a few things about it.

Reply

Ahhh I hate strenght training but I know its really important! Love the rowing machine.

Love the song Stay and yes I listen to it running:)

You all are making me jealous with your TJ purchases!

Reply

I love Greek yogurt with my granola. The Ancient Grains granola at Costco is the jam!

Reply

I love the rowing machine!! And I think you are being a very responsible parent for starting to think about taking Brooke to DL early!!

Reply

My first trip to Disneyland was sometime before the age of 2. We lived in Sand Diego at the time, and one day I’ll be back with Susanna.

Regarding yogurt, this is my favorite granola topping-

http://www.newmomstalk.com/2013/02/04/super-yummy-homemade-granola

I could eat it nearly every day (with or without yogurt), and I need to make more tomorrow, too! (I’ve been busy or lazy and haven’t gotten it done yet this week.)

Reply

I have NEVER been to Disneyland OR Disneyworld! I am hoping that my boyfriend will take me one of these days… but seeing how we live in Illinois we can’t just hop in the car and drive there lol.

And my yogurt toppings (I buy plain vanilla Greek yogurt)= granola and/or cereal (cheerios, oatmeal squares, or special k… or all of them) with strawberries and blueberries… and sometimes bananas and a spoonful of pb!

Reply

I definitely need to start strength training more again! Sometimes I get so obsessed with running that it falls to the back of my brain, never to be found again.. oops

Reply

Just looking at Brooke makes me tired. She makes napping look good!

Reply

I am having serious ITB issues right now-I’m on day 38 of no running. Blah! I have done some strength training (more now that I’m in PT) but I need to do more.
My favorite thing at the moment is plain Greek yogurt with fresh blueberries with about 1/8-1/4 cup of Kashi GoLean sprinkled in it-yum!
My first trip to DW was when I was 14 and only that one time. Then I had a kid, when said kid was 4 months old we moved to California pretty close to Disneyland and I got a season pass. Then I became a Disney nerd…freak??? Even when we moved back to Louisiana we (now just me and my son) went to Disney World on every break. He was about 17 when we went for the last time-he was done! I still love it though and really really want to do a Disney race!

Reply

I Love the kettlebell! It’s almost like it’s a full body workout! I’ve never actually used a Bosu Ball though, so I’m interested to see what that entails =) I’ve never been to Disneyland =( Or even Disney World! How sad is that?! I think we need to get there asap, especially since the girls want to go!

Reply

That poster is so cute! I love it!

Reply

Kettle bells are killer workouts! The best!

Never been to Disneyland, but to Disneyworld! We live in SoCal now, so I think it may be time to visit. It’s so expensive though!

Reply

Love the blueberry museli from TJ’s! :) I also like putting granola and fresh fruit on my yogurt.

I don’t remember my first trip to Disneyland, but I know I got lost at Knottsberry Farm and some punk stole my hat. I was 4 or 5 at the time. I only know this because when my parents found me, all I said was someone stole my hat. haha.

I have never used kettleballs before. I’ve tried the row machine once or twice, but couldn’t figure out how to use it properly. :)

Reply

You need to use running as your excuse for a Disney trip! They have the Dumbo challenge & Tinkerbell Half! That would be an awesome blog post. I just ran the Princess Half Marathon & loved it!

Reply

Current favorite yogurt toppings: strawberry, Cascadian farms granola, and COCONUT! The coconut seriously makes it. :)

Reply

Ooooh, you should DEF take Brooke to Disneylan soon! She can still get in for free! And they just revamped something in Fantasyland, so maybe some of the ride lines for the good rides might be shorter now. And I mean, the DL half is Labor Day weekend….so….kill two birds with one stone? As far as yogurt goes- berries, granola, and just a couple of chocolate chips to look forward to!

Reply

Hooray for the rowing machine! I’d say that’s a pretty good split for a first timer. Just a helpful tip – there’s a big misconception that rowing is mostly an upper body workout, but really it’s all legs. So focus on pushing off from your legs when you get up to the catch (up to the monitor) rather than yanking on your arms.

Of course, you might already know that in which case just ignore me :)

Reply

I have never tried the rowing machine.

Never been to Disneyland. Went to Disney World for the first time when I was 19.

I usually eat my yogurt by itself.

Mine I sound lame! LOL

Reply

Probably the deepest thought ever (the fruit on the.bottom one). You need to get to the bottom of this and find out why!

I want to cuddle with Brookester. Sleeping babies are the cutest.

Hope your it band gets better. Super frustrating but I know you are going to come back stronger than before!

Reply

I don’t remember how old I was on my first trip to Disneyland, but you should bring Brooke at least once she starts to walk on her own! It is super cute seeing babies’ faces light up and watch them enjoy the park. (I know this from watching my friends’ daughter.)

Reply

I have never used the rowing machine, I am a bit scared of it tbh

Reply

I have a medicine ball that is currently collecting dust. I use resistence bands on a daily basis with a moms workout group that I am a part of. We workout with our kiddos in their strollers and run through the neighborhoods doing different workouts at each stop.
I believe I was about 9 months or so when i first went to dland. Obviously I don’t remember that. I don’t eat yogurt :(, currently living a paleo lifestyle.
love your posts!! Always look forward to them every day!!

I’ve never been to DisneyLAND, but I’ve been to Disney World 4 times, the first time being when I was 13. Now, my bf and I are trying to go every year just the two of us because we both love it so much. It really is magical!

Reply

I believe I was a toddler when I first went to Disney World (was 9 when we made it to your side of the country and went to Disneyland). We’ve had passes many times throughout my life and my parents got us passes for Christmas last year! We took our daughter when she was 3 months old :D I completely agree – start ’em early! I would live at Disney if I could!!

Reply

I love the rowing machine! It’s my second fav cardio workout. I have never been to Disneyland but my first disney world trip was when I was just a few months old :) it’s never to soon to go to the happiest place on earth!

Reply

A better question would be what toppings I DON’T put on my yogurt  Cereal, fruit, almond butter, applesauce, cocoa powder, dried fruit, trail mix, chocolate chips… Anything is fair game :D And I definitely think you should introduce Brooke to the wonderfulness that is Disneyland soon. My parents waited until I was about 7, which is way too old in my opinion!

Reply

I have used everything but the loop bands–not sure what those are for. I like kettle bells tho :)

Reply

Did Brooke start sleeping longer when she got sick? Maybe that’s just her lil body’s way of recovering! I have used resistance bands and medicine balls! Resistance bands for PT. I am curious about the rowing machine but don’t know how to use it… I might use it though if it doesn’t bug your IT band because I need a killer workout if I’m going to take a break from running (EEP! DO NOT WANT!) I have never been to Disneyland, but I have been to Disney World and I first went when I was like 2. I was last there three weeks ago. Hopefully I’ll go back soon! I love topping my yogurt with granola, peanut butter, chocolate chips, and fruit…

Reply

I’ve used a loop band for physical therapy. And I went to Disney World when I was about 5, and Disney land several times… but I can’t really remember. Between the ages of 2 and 8.

Reply

First went to Disneyland when I was 8 or 9. Couldn’t go when I was 7 because it wasn’t built yet! For the last year or so we’ve been going at least every month. Yes, I like Disney, and I like running. That’s why I runDisney! Currently training for the Dumbo Double Dare.

Reply

I love the rowing machine! Definitely an amazing workout! Very cute theme for the nursery.

I like using medicine balls when given the chance, but I really want to try this whole kettlebell craze. It’s intriguing.

For an awesome cover of Stay youtube: “Stay” – Scott Hoying, Rozzi Crane, and Kevin Olusola
In my head I sound exactly like this girl…. My neighbours may beg to differ.
Yay for trying rowing!! I have been trying to psyche myself up to attempt it… For now I just walk by the rowing machines and eyeball them intensely… Totally normal.

Reply

I love the kettlebell! Kettlebell swings are my favorite! I also use them for a lot of core exerciss. I think you are going to love your new program!

Reply

I have never been to Disney Land! (gasp!) I know! I heard it’s actually better when you’re older though? What do you think? I have used all of those training tools, and continue to use them, even in my current workouts. You will love (read hate) the loop bands, especially if you use them for “monster walks”. Hopefully he has you do them, because they give a great burn!

Reply

Glad your IT Band is feeling better! I’ve never tried a rowing machine but it looks like a really intense workout.

I use dumbells and used to use medicine balls all the time for dry land training when I swam.

I’ve never been to Disneyland, but we went to Disney World when I was 6 (and again when I was 13). The first time we drove down and back, 12.5 hours each way! The second time we took an auto train down (it hauls your car down, too) and then drove home.

I agree, it’s definitely not too early to take Brooke to Disneyland!

Reply

I’d love it if you shared the link to the rowing machine video!!
I just did it for the first time this past weekend and was definitely sore, but I’d love to see the “right” way to do it because I just sat down and started pulling haha

Reply

Oh I love the rowing machine but I find that not many gyms have them. There is an old one stuck in the corner of my gym that I use all the time.

I tried Muesli for the first time last month at the Ritz Carlton and it was delicious. Do you add it to the yogurt and let it sit over night?

Reply

YES! I love all those pieces of equipment! I can’t wait to read about your experience with them. Ummm, I don’t like toppings on my yogurt. Weird?! I just want the yogurt!

Reply

I don’t know what kettle balls are, but I’ve used kettle bells and they are KILLER for explosive movements (but you really need to be taught by someone who knows what to look for… or study several YouTube videos like I have, haha).

Reply

Do you ever use any of the above strength training tools (besides the dumbbells, I am pretty sure we all have used those at some point)?
– Kettle Bell is used often.

Ever tried the rowing machine?
-Nope! My gym doesn’t have one

How old were you when you first went to Disneyland?
– I was 6 years old!

What toppings do you put on your yogurt?
– Usually nothing. But granola when I have some!

Reply

I am so happy that your it band is on the up and up!! That is great!

…and I was really little for my first DL trip! Never, ever too early!!

Never been to Disney land but been to Disney world multiple times. First time was age 3 and I don’t remember a darn thing! Love the stay song but I heard on radio it was about Chris brown which makes me kind of eh about it :/

Brook looks so sweet sleeping. I agree with you. I love playing with my boy in the morning. They are just too sweet. I also love your poster for her room. That is the one song I always sing to baby W when he wakes up and goes to bed.
GO TO DISNEYLAND! Plan it now while its still cool.
Most of the things you have on your list to buy are in our house. I’m trying to think of an awesome workout to post and share with others. Can’t wait to see yours for some inspiration.

Reply

I have all of those pieces of equipment in my basement and use them regularly for my clients, and myself! He’s got some good stuff listed for you to use! :-)

I was 21 the first time I went to Disney World. I’ve never been to DL. BTW, my Granddaddy used to sing “You Are My Sunshine” to me when I was little. It brings back such fond memories!

Reply

Great choice on “You Are My Sunshine”! I have always loved it too and it was the father/daughter dance at my wedding – and now we also have a poster of the lyrics hanging in our guest room!

I LOVE the rowing machine! And kettlebells are also great. Enjoy your new strength training plan – I never stick to it but I feel so much better when I do.

JANAE!!!! I am such a lousy commenter, but I do read every day! I have been saving my pennies and just got a “home gym” which consists of all the things you listed and a TM. BEST MONEY SPENT EVER!!! I can work out whenever and it kicks my trash. I put up 3×5 cards on my wall with various exercises and move them around to create my workout on the wall. (My most favorite workout includes the one-arm pushups on the Bosu…burn baby burn….)

I can’t believe how such little equipment can make you so sore. It has been SO very helpful in my SF recovery. When muscles aren’t strong, things break. My final addition my gym will be a poster size picture of me standing under the Boston Marathon finish line. Someday…..

I’m SO very excited that you got a coach. I’m sure it will take you to the next level. Go JANAE!! Gotta post some of those workout…the masses will want to know!

I think I was 3 my first trip to Disneyland. I still love it.
I tried to rowing machine a few months ago for the first time. It was tough!!! I can’t wait to see what your strength workouts are like!

I am a strictly mochi on froyo girl. I also just discovered there is a yogurtland very close to where I am moving in the next couple of months and immediately thought f you!

I haven’t ever used a bosu ball (not even sure what it is??) or a loop band.

I just tried the rower a few weeks ago for the first time and LOVED it! It’s a killer workout!

Reply

Billy always looks different to me in old pictures that you post…has his face gotten thinner since he started running? It’s not a big deal, I just can’t figure out what looks different about him. Or maybe nothing’s different and I’m just crazy!

Even asleep that baby is adorable! I didn’t go to Disneyland until I was almost 15, but I went to Disney World for the first time at three, and was so terrified of the Beast (from Beauty and the) that I cried for, according to my mom, a solid hour after he left my vision. lol!

I LOVE THE BOSU. Also, yes. Those sound like they will be some intense sessions – fingers crossed you never have to use ALL that equipment in the course of one workout.

Reply

i was 5 for my first dland trip. but then you are probably pretty close to it. relatively speaking. our kids will have to wait a while.

any granola -ish topping is yummy on yogurt. i often sprinkle it with grape nuts too.

all that workout stuff is expensive! can you do some strength at the gym you teach at?

Reply

I am so happy that yogurt companies continue to put the fruit on the bottom. I much prefer it over blended yogurt! The rowing machine is pretty killer and excellent cross training especially when you have an injury. I love vanilla granola on vanilla Greek yogurt with blueberries.

Reply

You HAVE to look up you are my sunshine on pinterest !!!!!!! TONS of super cute and I mean super cute ideas!!!!!!
I am a total running junkie, which is not necessarily a good thing, and have only ever used resistence bands for stretching and dumbells a few times when I was super motivated. I am really really trying to do more. I even got a Jillian dvd and have done it twice! I am also trying to do at least 15 push-ups a day. I was thinking about getting a bosu ball though.
I have never been to Disneyland but Disneyworld and I LOVE it! We took our kids there when they were 4 and 6 and again when they were 6 and 8 and we are saving to go again next year! It is kinda pricey though so we wanted to wait until they were old enough to remember it.
I put Just Bunches on my vanilla greek yogurt…I LOVE it…I think because it has a good bit of sugar in it though…:)

Little Miss B is probably going to start taking longer and longer naps now. Max used to never nap, then he took 30 minute naps – now he takes 2-3 hour naps in the afternoon some days. Trust me – once Brooke starts really crawling/walking around – you will kind of need those nap times to just do your every day things (even running – no way Max would put up with me on a treadmill). :-)

I think I was 6 the first time I went to Disney World. I am thinking seriously about doing the Princess Half next year at DW, so Max would be just 2 at that point. We will be in the vicinity of DL in August, but probably won’t go.

Reply

Oh geez, The rowing machine. Im a third year rower for Wichita State. My life revoles around that machine. I could answer any questions you have about that thing. We rowers are not big fans of the rowing machine ( we call it the erg), but it is great for our fitness! I spend about 6hrs on the rower a week.

Reply

I’m glad your IT band is feeling better! I’ve never tried the rowing machine because there is only one and I’m afraid to be in the spot light. It might get a little awkward especially since I have no idea what I’m doing. My first and (sadly) only trip to Disney was when I was five years old. I don’t remember anything but going to breakfast and having characters dancing around all the time. And Mickey pancakes… Can’t forget about those!

Reply

We took Livie to Disney when she was 3 months old and she loved it. Seriously, I have the happiest pictures from that day (it was also Braeden’s first time – he was 3). Granted, we live in Orlando – but it’s quite the trek to get out there so it is really a treat!

I really need to get some kettlebells for home workouts!

Reply

I haven’t tried any of the items besides dumbells. I do believe I rowed once…
My first trip to Disney World was the summer before Kindergarten and I went to Disney Land in 6th grade during spring break!

Reply

I’ve always been more of a Disney World girl, but that’s probably because I lived closer to Florida. My first time at Disneyland was actually for the Disneyland Half last September (I’m well into my 20s).

I love, love, love the bosu ball. I’ve been thinking about doing some kettleball action…but haven’t worked up the courage to give it a shot.

Reply

Before you know it you will be kneeling on the stability ball doing bicep curls like a boss!
I love kbs! They are so fun!
Dare I mention that I dread the Rower, more then the treadmill? But I am coming around.. I may be having a love affair with the treadmill lately…

You should totally take Brooke to Disneyland next time you guys are down here. How adorable would she be with little Mickey ears?!

I was 3 or 4 my first visit and obviously I was a big fan. Disney was my first half marathon, so I’ll always have good memories there.

You’re such a smarty to check out video BEFORE trying the rower. I’ve recently started using the rowing machine and i love it! A great workout for cardio and strength training, and doesn’t bother my knees or IT band. A rare combo. This evening though while on the machine i had the thought of i wonder if i’m doing this right, and that i should look at some videos. Picked up some good tips. Let me know how it continues to go for you, i for sure think it’s going to be a good workout addition for me, and you too i hope.

Reply

Hope your IT band feels better soon! Okay, I’m dying- who is your new coach????????? You (and Brooke) will love the BOSU!!!

Reply

TODAY I DID THE ROWING MACHINE TOO!!!
For the first time in 2 years and it felt amazing. My whole body was flexing the whole time. 5000 meters is a great workout. I’m slightly injured right now and want to work in this no impact cardio into my routine.

Reply

I LOVE Disneyland! Either take her when she’s small enough she doesn’t mind being in a stroller all day or old enough that she can walk all day. In between is when it’s super hard. Get a childless couple (grandparents are best) to go with you so you can ditch the baby at night and get some good ride time in.

I’ve been wanting a Bosu ball forever, but they are so flippin’ expensive and I’m so darn cheap. That workout list makes me sore too! I’m excited to hear how you like working with a coach though! I love working with mine!

Reply

I love the song Stay. That song and Pink’s Just Give Me a Reason have been on repeat for me. The first time I went to Disneyland I was just under 2. My parents took all my siblings to Disneyland at that age since admission is free :)

Reply

enjoy those long naps she takes now! you know, never wake a sleeping baby. Right? but she is pretty darn cute just sleeping

A friend of mine just got an awesome new rower and I’ve been taking advantage of it. It is a nice change of pace for an added evening workout.
I’m not sure when I first went to Disney but thinking I was around 4 or so. I still enjoy going there every couple of year, even without having any kiddos.
I’ve used loop bands and a bosu. The bosu is definitely challenging.
Speaking of yogurt…I just wolfed down the exact one you have pictured and have always wondered the same thing??? why fruit on the bottom???

Reply

I did the rowing machine a couple times when I belonged to a gym, but I just found it so boring. Maybe it’d be better if I could watch tv while doing it.

I think the first time I went to Disney, I was still a baby, so you should definitely start taking Brooke now.

Reply

I love to throw a little granola or chia seeds on top of my yogurt, so yummy and crunchy.

I still have NEVER been to DisneyLand, but I do hear people say that you want to wait until your kids are old enough to remember, but you are so lucky because you’re at least in the same state so it’s not as much of a huge expensive vacation endeavor.

I keep hearing tons of things about rowing and really need to give it a shot, but I’m not even sure if my gym has one! I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled next time.

Reply

I love Nature’s Path granola (http://shop.naturespath.com/Granola/c/NaturesPath@Granola), especially the coconut chia one!! That’s super delicous in yogurt, and add some blueberries… or a crushed Nature Valley chocolate granola bar is nice too…

And I’ve only been to Disneyland twice, and it was in Tokyo, Japan. I think I was about… 12 and my little brother was 8. Riding the Haunted House when it’s all in Japanese is a fun experience. You never know what’s coming even when they tell you..

Reply

I enjoy using the rowing machine, I find it to be anice break from a typical cardio machine. I went to Walt Disney World for the first time when I was 2 years old. My family and husband are both beyond obsessed with Disney. We have gone every year, and my husband and I go a few times a year!

Reply

I love the kettlebells and you will too! The rowing machine was something I used for the first time this year too. It really is a nice workout.

I’ve never been to Disneyland. I better hurry up and have kids so that I have an excuse to go.

Reply

I was a rower in college and its still a killer workout. Make sure the resistance is set at 4 (located on the right hand side of the wheel). 4 = the resistance of water, for some workouts its ok to go to a 6, but going any higher is meant for specialized workouts. I am the weird person that randomly goes up to people on these machines to tell them this, I don’t want any back injuries.

Ahh I LOVE the new song by Rihanna. Different, but catchy and addicting. (And definitely not a workout song.)

I’ve used the kettlebells and loop bands before. I’m actually considering getting some loop bands again – I loved them! And I really want to get a Bosu ball – never used one but would like to get started.

We went to Disney when I was 8 (I think). It wasn’t one of my favorite family trips, and I think I’d enjoy it much more now that I’m old enough to understand and appreciate all that Disney has to offer.

We just took our 10 month old girl and 2 and a half year old son to Disney World for a week. They loved it! We first took my son to Disney World when he was 7 months. And while he may not have “gotten” it, he was fascinated by all the characters and rides. The one down side for me was having to stop to breastfeed often and having to take lots of breaks for naps. But if you go into it knowing you won’t ride many rides but that it is more about seeing your child enjoy it, then it’s all good.

I went to Disneyland when I was little and used to live in SoCal!

Yesssss I love that Rihanna song too!

I remember going to Tokyo Disneyland when I was really little, and then growing up my family went to Disney World/Land at least a few times- so many fun memories!

Do you mean kettlebell? We use the kettlebell a lot at Crossfit (which I LOVE, by the way!). It is pretty versatile- you can use it for your typical kb swings, one-armed snatches, goblet squats, and sumo-deadlift-high pulls (deadlift with a wide stance, continued into a pull up to chin level).

I’ve used medicine balls for wall balls (squatting and then coming up and throwing the ball at a 10-ft target), squat jumps (bear-hug that darn thing and do some squat jumps), and torturous sit-ups (when on your back, the ball is held straight up in the air, when you’re sitting up, the ball is directly above your head).

The rowing machine is also great. I’ve used it for rowing sprints, rowing distance, rowing calories (which is soooooo hard), and other torture. :)

Love the nursery theme song!

Rowing is such a burn! Good work! And, I’m sure you know I have most of those items at home–it’s SUPER convenient especially with a napping Brook! ;)

I LOVE absolutely LOVE kettlebells. I took classes/almost personal training with them for about a year and I was super sad when I had to stop (I moved away from my beloved trainer).

I was 17 when I went to Disney Land for the first time and 29 the second time. I’d say it was because I’m an east coast girl, but I didn’t go to Disney World until I was 28.

Hi Janae! I’m pretty sure the fruit is at the bottom of the yogurt because of the way it is manufactured – it is probably easier for the manufacturer to fill different fruits/syrups on the bottom of the cups and then make one plain yogurt that can be used for all the flavors of fruits. That way they could make small batches of the fruit and large batches of the plain yogurt, and it would help from a cleaning perspective as well. Hopefully that makes sense! (I’m an engineer who works in food manufacturing so that’s the first thing I thought of!)
