I signed up for my first post baby marathon.

On June 8th I will be running my first post having Brooker marathon, the Utah Valley Marathon.  I have ran both the Utah Valley full and the half and so I already know that I absolutely love this race so it will be the perfect ‘Welcome Back to Running 26.2 Miles.’

Screen Shot 2013 01 13 at 7 16 37 PM

I really can’t wait because I love Utah, I love the course, my mom can come cheer me on because it is right by her house and I know that YOU GUYS are going to come and run it with me right?!?!

I am really liking my 2013 race calendar so far (just need to add about 20 more races and I will be happy).

-January 26th:  The Coyote Hills 1/2 Marathon.

-February 23rd:  She Runs 1/2 Marathon.

-June 8th: Utah Valley Marathon.

—————————————————————-

I am really on a soup kick right now.  It just always sounds really good (well, that and pizza, chocolate, grapes, cheez-its and brownies ((and chocolate covered pomegranates and juice)) and I think it is perfectly acceptable to have it for lunch

and dinner.  We also had leftover pizza with our Chicken Tortilla soup, why isn’t soup and pizza a popular combination already?  I think I might be onto something here.

DSC 6556

After church we spent our last day of Billy’s break doing what we do best which is sit on the couch for multiple hours.  The best way to spend our last party day together.  I am not going to lie, I am not looking forward to this whole Billy studying 80 hours a week thing.  Good thing Brooke is the best entertainment ever.

DSC 6529

And a close-up on Brooke’s favorite thing.  She now sucks on all four fingers at the same time.  She has never taken a binky or sucked on her thumb or anything like that before, is it possible she could be teething at 5 months?!?  When does that normally happen?

DSC 6532

I had to catch up on The Bachelor because I am going to a Bachelor watching party tonight.  One of the guys had Billy’s same shirt so I forced Billy to go put on the twinner shirt and point at his shirt and the tv and let me take a picture of him.

DSC 6553

I hope you have a fantastic Monday!!! (Brooke and I will be moping for a few minutes but then we will get over it;)

Yay!! Congrats on signing up for your fist post Brooke marathon!! When is this race? I’m trying to find a FIRST TIME EVER marathon to run this year!!! Would you suggest this one for a beginner marathoner???

Reply

I don’t have too many other races on the calendar (like you I need about 20 more.) What are your goals for your June marathon if you’ve made any? I have been in a fish mood lately! I can’t get enough. Weird I know. WE ARE WATCHING THE BACHELOR AND CAN’T WAIT!!! I love how Sean seems like a family man and super sweet! Have a great Monday Janae!

Reply

The Utah valley marathon is going to be my first full ever! Maybe I will see you speeding past me :) aside from that I have a half in Februart in Fort Lauderdale.

Reply

It’s going to be my first too!

Reply

Woohoo! I’m a little nervous about the elevation but SO excited nonetheless:)

Reply

I am hoping to run a half this year. Now the problem is fitting it in around my work schedule. Congrats on signing up for the marathon! I can’t wait to read all about it!

Reply

You are such a talented runner, Janae!! Amazing! Will be here to cheer you on :)

I’m hoooooping to run my first marathon at some point this year. The thought freaks the daylights outta me!

Reply

I love the picture of you and Brooke; you look great!!

So, question: are you aiming for a sub-3 PR in June? Or are you just going to see what your body can do? Or is it too early to tell?

Reply

I am running my first full marathon in May. I’m running a half in April. That’s all I’ve got set up so far. I want to see what the full is like before I decide on my fall races. That’s no fun that party time with Billy is over for now! Silly school.

Reply

Yay for the marathon!! It sounds like that is a perfect time for you to run a marathon. And, how cool is it that it goes by your mom’s house!! Having good “cows support” really helps me push through the miles. Can’t wait to hear more about your training!!

Reply

I haven’t figured out the schedule for this year until I figure out what is wrong with my leg. Today should be a good start on that.

Can.not.wait to watch The Bachelor tonight. I’m obssessed! haha I will be counting down all day at work :)

Reply

Congrats on your race! Yes, she can get teeth. My son is 7 months and already has two on the bottom and two coming in on the top. Teething is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be though. Brooke may need some Tylenol at night time and a bib (aka drool catcher) 24/7 but that’s about the worst of it. Yay for big girl (baby) teeth! She will get 10 billion times cuter once she gets little chompers :)

Reply

That sounds bad..she’s already the cutest, but little white teeth just are SO adorable. I wasn’t implying…you know what I mean haha.

Reply

I’ll definitely be watching tonight! It’s the highlight of my Monday night (that’s sad, isn’t it?)!

Reply

Yay for signing up for a marathon! That one is def. On my bucket list- Utah looks so pretty. And this year I don’t think I will do a marathon, but I’m doing something entirely different and biking across the country this summer for cancer!! http://4kforcancer.org/profiles/erika-morrissette/
I am running the Nike Womens half in DC though and I am super stoked about that!
Have a good Monday!!

Reply

I am running a marathon this year! But it’s not until December, so I have some time. Definitely watching the bachelor tonight. That’s what is going to get me through my run today.

Reply

Exciting race season! And it’ll be great to have your family there to cheer!
I have two Ironmans on my calendar, so I’m not going to put anything else on there. (Hopefully I’ll make it to both of them injury free.)
I haven’t watched a Bachelor since the Andrew Firestone one years ago!
Have a great day alone with Brooke!

Reply

Yessss, I am so excited for you. Hopefully the Utah air won’t give you too much trouble! I’m running my first Marathon in over 4 years in May…. sooo nervous!

Reply

Exciting…can’t wait for the updates on your training! I a running The Bayshore Half in Traverse City MI on May 25. Other than that I don’t have many scheduled..MI races haven’t opened up yet since we are still in the throws of old man winter. We have been eating a lot of soup and comfort food trying to stay warm under all the snow :)

Reply

I am so excited to run NYC Marathon this year! After not running in 2011 because of injury and 2012…. Well, I am more than ready to run it!!!

Still debating on a spring marathon….training like I am going to run one….thinking about Cleveland!

Reply

Hahahah billy is such a good sport. You guys are too cute. That’s so exciting that you’re going to be running a marathon again!! You are always so impressive with your ability to run so far and so fast. I won’t be running any marathons anytime soon, but I’ll be doing two halfs so that almost the same thing, right?

Reply

I feel your pain…my husband returns to work today after taking a few weeks off to be with our newborn baby girl. It’s my first day home alone with her!
My son (now 8) got his first tooth at 4 months…I came home from a mountain bike race & my mom, who was babysitting, asked, “Why didn’t you tell me he cut his first tooth?!”
And I was like, “Huh??”
I hadn’t even noticed…there was no teething drama and I wasn’t expecting it so early.

Reply

My niece was born three days before Brooke and already has two teeth… I’d say it could definitely be teething!

Reply

Exciting! I cannot wait to run a full again!
I have 2 races confirmed, another I am waiting for reg to open and want to find one more. Still on a running break this year though so only 10 races for me.
Alot of homemade soup and juices, trying to get in all my fruits and veggies!

Reply

I want to sign up for ALLL the races, too! Except for fulls. I’m running my first full next month and the training is so time consuming. Good luck in your races!

Reply

I cannot wait to follow your marathon training!!!………..and refueling ;)

Reply

whoohoo! congrats on pulling the trigger and getting back at it!

Reply

It’s very possible she’s teething.. It can happen at any time really. If so, stock up on some baby Orajel!
I’m hoping to start racing some this year.. I’ve been pregnant and having babies the last 3 years and haven’t had much time (races are not in my neck of the woods so traveling would be required) but I’m hoping 2013 is my year!
I will for sure be watching The Bachelor!

Reply

Lots of halves and 10 milers on my schedule, but no full marathons. I just don’t have the time to put in quality training with two kids and a full time job. I know lots of other women do it, but I also like to sleep, so for now, 13.1 will be my longest race.

And both my kids got their first teeth at 5 months. Brooke could absolutely be teething. It might take a while, though, for you to actually see a tooth poking through. Soon she’ll be able to share caramel apples with you!

Reply

Yay for post-baby marathon! I hope your training goes great.

The race I’m looking forward to the most is a 4 mile trail race. I haven’t ever run a full, and I’m not sure my body would hold up to the mileage load so I’m not sure I’ll ever run one.

I’ve been on a fajita kick lately…

Reply

Yay for signing up for your next marathon!! I love that feeling :) My next marathon is coming up in May and I’m running a half marathon in February, then ULTRA in August (eeeek!)

I’m excited to read all about your training again! I loved reading about the whole journey for the last few :)

Reply

woo post-Brooke marathon! You’ll kill it.

I was signed up for the WI Marathon in May but decided to step down to the half. My heart isn’t into the LONG runs anymore–I’m really enjoying lifting. Plus I {sweet} talked the boyfriend into running it with me and pacing me to a killer PR.

I will be DVRing either the Bachelor or Biggest Loser. Of course both my favorite shows have to be on the same night.

Reply

Yay! I’m so excited for you!

Reply

Janae, it’s totally possible that she is teething. I think the average is about 6 months but my son didn’t get his first tooth until he was about 10 months. It varies from kid to kid.

I am 38 weeks pregnant with my second and I can’t wait to get back to running! I can’t believe you were able to run for your entire pregnancy, at this point I am waddling when I walk because it feels like I am holding a bowling ball between my legs. I guess you were just in MUCH better shape eh?

Reply

I will be watching The Bachelor tonight. It’s one of my guilty pleasures in life!

Reply

Awesome that you are running a marathon you know you love and in Utah! I am signed up for my first marathon this year!

Reply

Definitely possible she is teething! My little guy’s first tooth popped through just after 4 months. I think normal is 6ish months? Look out for the middle two on the bottom, they are the first ones to show.

Reply

I want at least one half marathon this year and then maybe a full next year. I can’t get over not being part of the 20th Anniversary WDW Marathon weekend. Thinking I can’t let another one pass me by. *gosh did ‘I’ just write that?!

Not Bachelor – but Biggest Loser for sure!

Brooke would certainly be teething at 5 months. You may see teeth right away or be another month or two down the road.

Reply

you are a frigging machine! I have my first marathon EVER in less than two weeks in Dubai. AHHH!! EXCITED!!

Reply

Ok. Was the whole ‘Oprah-like’ scene between Arie and Sean not the weirdest and most awkward thing EVER?! I was hiding behind my hands watching it. What was that even supposed to be? Funny that Billy has Arie’s shirt. Too bad it was Arie that has it. lol. I do not like him. Let’s talk about the back walkover girl = awesome. I rewound that so many times.

Congrats on signing up for the marathon! That is so awesome. If I am not prego then I will totally come run it ‘with’ you. If not, you better believe I will be there with posters and cheer with your mom ;)

My kids didn’t get teeth until they were almost 1, but that is on the later side of the spectrum. 5 months would be normal too. Have a good day today – hopefully you will survive without Billy. Just make some yummy food with Bangs – that will do the trick ;)

Reply

I have not decided on a race schedule yet this year.i do plan on doing shorter races to work on my speed this year.

Reply

I just figured out my races for the year. I’m most looking forward to the dinosaur half marathon in sept. (so far away!). I was 9 months pregnant last year so I missed it but it was my first half marathon ever so I want to go back and run it again!

No marathon this year but I’m planning on running my first one next year for my 30th bday haha.

Reply

My running calendar is wide open. I really want this year to be the year I do a marathon, but I’m getting nervous. I was thinking about Chicago, but my BFF is getting married on that weekend, so that takes it off the table. Wisconsin is the first week of May and that’s looking like the best option.

Reply

That is SO exciting!! You’re going to break that sub-3 FOR SURE!!!

I am signed up for the Rock and Roll DC Marathon on March 16! I am shooting for 3:40(ish) but I haven’t been able to run in a week because of foot pain (which seems to be gone now) and the fact that my daughter is really sick with the flu and it’s just us two. The mom role comes first:-)

Since we have been stuck in the house since Wednesday I feel like all I’m eating is carbs, carbs, carbs. haha. I reallllly need to go to the grocery store. As soon as she feels better and I can go, we’re having salads:-)

Reply

I’m sorry to hear that Billy has to go back to school! I’m sure you guys will be back in your routine soon but it is tough, isn’t it? I’ve always been proud of my husband for being so very hardworking, but sometimes I wish he weren’t. Not really, but you know. Anyways, summer break will be here before you know it!

Congrats on getting your racing schedule set up! I have been feeling burned out since running my first half last fall, but I am just now starting to feel interested in running again.

PS: that picture of Brooke with the sunglasses in your last post is the cutest thing I have ever seen. I have decided I need to start a shopping list of adorable things to pre-buy for when I finally have kids!

Reply

I am all registered to do the Utah Valley half and am so excited to do so! Last night I also registered for the Porter Half (in Draper) in August. I’m trying to convince my friend to run it with me but she wants me to do a sprint tri in return. Swimming might be a deal breaker for me!

Reply

I have two halves scheduled four weeks apart (Lincoln, NE and the Sandhills Half Marathon), so that kinda counts as a full……right? I did have a goal this year to run a 26.2 race, but I don’t know if I can commit to the time it takes for training. I’m shopping for treadmills right now, so that could be a game changer.
As far as teething….both my kids started drooling and gnawing on things at about 4 months, and by 5 or 6 months they had teeth!

Reply

I just discovered your wonderful amazing blog! My husband and I just decided to do the Disney World Wine and Dine half in November. I hope to add several 5k and 10k’s before that. Like you I am a mommy (two step sons, 7 and 8 years old) and I have two daughters, 21 months And 7 months) how often do you run with a jogging stroller? I find that 95 percent of the time I have to take the double jogging stroller when going for a run because I have the girls with me. I’ve gone up to 6 miles so far with the girls. Keep up your amazing work, and cheers from Sunny south Florida!! Xoxo

Ps I love soup and one of my favorites is a tomato cheddar soup that is absolutely delicious. Here is the recipe!!
http://morefruitplease.net/2012/04/23/tomato-basil-and-cheddar-soup/

(I used cream instead of Greek yogurt but I’m sure it’s great either way!!)

Reply

Great choice! :-)

We’ll see you there for sure!

Reply

Hopefully the altitude doesn’t kill me ha! Any tips!?

Reply

I don’t think altitude makes quite as much of a difference when you are running downhill, and they changed the first 5-6 miles a bit (now easier). The toughest part, coming from sea-level, will be the hills past the reservoir and the one at ~16 mi. Those will be hard if you try to run them too fast. I would make sure you do long runs that have hills in the latter part of the run, so you can practice running them when you are tired. I bet you’ll do great!!

Reply

Awesome! Thank you so so much!!! I am hoping that trail running will help me with those huge hills too! Good to know that they changed the first few miles! Have a great day and can’t wait to see you guys!

Reply

My daughter is only 3 weeks older than Brook & she’s been doing the same thing for a few weeks. She is sucking & chewing on everything! Her blankets, our hands, her hands – anything she can get her gums on!

I have my first 1/2 marathon scheduled for April & a 15K scheduled for July. I think I’m going to do a relay with some friends in October too. I will probably add more, depends on how my 1/2 training goes!

Reply

I’m on a crazy pizza kick. Pizza for breakfast lunch and dinner! How exciting about your first post Brooke marathon! Cant wait to hear your training updates. She will be the cutest cheerleader! My race schedule for this year is slowly coming together, I’m thinking a marathon might be something I decide to try end of this year or maybe early 2014.

Reply

My daughter is 5 1/2 months (born August 4) and got her two bottom teeth last week, so yep, totally possible she is teething :)

Reply

I’m running the Maine Coast Marathon in May!! We just moved and I miss my bachelor watching parties I used to have with a group of friends… My husband isn’t much a fan of the show ;)

Reply

Boo at Billy going back to school so soon. My guy works obscene amounts every week so I definitely know what it feels like to have to put up with someone’s busy schedule, but Brooke looks like she’s pretty amazing entertainment :) I might have to get a puppy or something… And I think I’ve been eating far too much fruit lately. You would think I would stop craving the stuff, seeing as it’s winter and all, but nope… Seems to be all I want to eat.

Reply

I am hoping to sign up soon for my first full marathon in April!!

Reply

yay for you comin’ to utah. next time we need to meet up. oh, and you have to come to blend retreat!

Reply

I’ve been trying to convince billy that I need to come to that!

Reply

‘Pain you enjoy’. hahaha I love it. So excited for your marathon!!

Reply

Hahaha I love that Billy was wearing the same shirt! And I would totally come run that with you, but I’m hopefully doing a Ragnar Relay that weekend!

Reply

Where did Billy get that shirt??? I remember thinking I wanted it for my husband when I saw what’s his name wearing it on the Bachelor!

Reply

Hey!!!! It is from target… Our favorite store:)

Reply

WHAT?! How is it possible that I have not seen it then?? I am in Target so often that the workers started calling me by my first name…so now I rotate between two different Targets just to keep them guessing ;)

Reply

I’m excited for you to do your first post baby marathon! You are going to be superb!

How exciting that Billy’s shirt is famous!

Reply

great minds think alike, because we got that same soup at costco this weekend!
haven’t tried it yet but i’m glad you liked it! see you tonight for some bach!!!!

Reply

I am watching the Bachelor! If not tonight, then tomorrow online. I loved that whole scene between Arie and Sean. I was cracking up. Especially when he was practicing giving out the roses and how to break up with the girls. “I can’t use the ‘It’s not you, it’s me,’ because it’s them!” LOL.

Reply

i have been eating tons of mexican lately! lots of tacos, qusadillas, tortilla soup, enchiladas. its just so easy to make! (and delicious of course!)
also, that is hilarious about billy’s shirt! haha love it!

Reply

bahaha TWINNERS! That is awesome.

I’m considering signing up for my first half… which might also be a good training plan since I’m going to get *married* in September! I’m super nervous though I keep putting it off and don’t have anyone to train with :/

Good luck on your post-baby marathons!!!

I’ve been craving warm, hearty dishes in the cold like chicken sausage with twisty noodles and pepper-y mushroom cream sauce, and I’ve got chilli in the slow cooker today (which makes me nervous the entire time I’m gone from the house!! I don’t know why… it always turns out fine!)

Reply

Lately I’ve been eating fresh mozzerella, artichoke hearts, tomatoes and pasta. Sometimes I throw in tuna or chicken, sometimes mushrooms and raw broccli.

I caught The Bachelor last Monday and am so in! I had gotten away from it for a while but it has sucked me back in.

Reply

I’m really looking forward to my half marathon in march and my color run in aug!

Reply

Trying the NYC Marathon again! :) It’s a toss up between that and the 1/2 marathon I’m running with my parents (an annual tradition!) in February!

Reply

So I totally have pulled that move Billy did, once I was watching the Kardashians on E! and Kourtney and I were wearing the same PJ set. Def had my dad take a picture of me with the TV. It didn’t come out as clearly as Billy’s though.
Congrats on signing up for the marathon! Love your passion for running.

Reply

Right now I just have one half marathon scheduled for march, going to see how the season progresses.

Reply

YAY!!!!!!! This makes me SO happy!! BTW. Not to sound like a mom, but I am really proud of you for not jumping back into a marathon! Giving yourself time to train (for sub-3!) is SO much smarter than feeling like you have to prove something by running one a few months after Brooke was born. I was SO SO SO tempted to run one in Dec and then another in Mar but am being patient and not doing one until May =)

Reply

That’s great you’ll be running your first post baby marathon so close to your family! I have a friend whose daughter got her first tooth at 3 months, so it’s possible Brooke’s teething! My kids didn’t get their first teeth until 10 months. So far I’m registered for Eugene Marathon, but I’m considering a fall marathon, too, and probably CIM again :) CIM for you?

Reply

How fun!!!! I can’t wait to follow along!

I love pizza with soup bc the crust is perfect for dipping. I am still figuring out my race calendar. All I know for sure is that I will run my first half marathon in march!

Reply

You are so awesome with all of your running! Do you have a recommendation for a book about running for a beginner? Brook is so adorable. I just know she will be cheering you on for all your races. I also love soup at anytime of the year:) Here are couple of my favorite recipes: http://hugsandkisses-handmadewithlove.blogspot.com/2010/12/let-there-be-soup.html
and http://blogs.babble.com/family-kitchen/2011/03/01/spinach-tomato-orzo-soup/
and http://www.5dollardinners.com/lasagna-soup/

Maybe you and Brook should call Bangs for a play date that way you wont be so sad over Billys back to school week:)

Reply

Oooopsss…I think I already gave you links to my fav soups, sorry about that. I am just a big ole soup lover:)

Reply

OMG! Billy is such a good sport. My husband would not do that (you’re so lucky). I am obsessed with meals in a tortilla right now- if it can go into a tortilla I am eating it. That is kind of weird.

Reply

I LIVED off of soups last winter, but not so much at all this year. I am having a lot of black bean burgers this year, bought from Costco of course! ;)

Reply

Your husband has amazing patience to go put on his matchy bachelor shirt and pose for you – mine would laugh at me.

Not putting any pressure on myself for races this year with #2 due 3/25…would love to get in some trail races later in the year if possible but just in a wait and see phase now.

Reply

That blazer you are wearing is adorable, along with your baby of course :) where did you get it, it looks so cozy? and now I am referring to only the blazer, not lil Brooke ;)

Reply

Haha thank you! It is from urban outfitters!

Reply

I like repeating races as well, takes the question out of whether or not your performance was an improvement or if the course might of helped/hurt you. I’m training for the Napa valley marathon….. And we are running the Diva’s half in SF in May, right? That should be a fun one.

Reply

Oh ya the teething question… Yes she certainly can be teething that early. My daughter had 2 at 2 months, 4 at 4 months, 6 at 6 months and on. She just turned 2 and already has al her 2 year molars. Caution while breast feeding…. ; )

Reply

CANNOT wait to run a race with you. One day. We will! :)
And thank you for the text this morning, I woke up with a smile on my face- you are the best!
SO funny about the sucking thing- G is doing the SAME thing. (don’t mind that I just sent this to you in a text…haha!) I was feeling her gums this morning for teeth buds, but nothing yet. I think it’s just a comfort thing…and I hear they are ‘discovering’ their limbs- and I cannot wait until she finds her feet- haha!
XOXO

Reply

I just signed up for my first baby post marathon too!!! BOOYA!! I’m running the San Diego Rock N Roll on June 2nd. Do you follow a training schedule or make up your own? I’ve always just followed Hal Higdon’s schedules but am wondering if I should be following something else.

Reply

I’m running the Big Sur Marathon at the end of April and the Mountains 2 Beach Marathon at the end of May..
I’ll be volunteering at the Coyote Hills Half (probably doing something with the bibs. Don’t be alarmed if someone starts waving frantically at you saying, “HungryRunnerGirl!!!”).

Reply

I love the matching shirts!! I am planning on running 4 half marathons this year. I am currently signed up for one in March, I picked out the one for June, and now I just need a September and December race! I will definitely be watching the Bachelor : )

Reply

My husband has that shirt too :-)

Reply

I haven’t run a marathon yet – and won’t this year! Not sure I would like to run one – I tend to like the shorter distances.

I’ve signed up for 2 5K’s, a 10K and will sign up for the Ottawa Army Run half as soon as registration starts – I’ve also signed up for my first ever triathlon! (a small one though)

Reply

We’ve been eating a lot of soup lately, too, because our oven is broken and we’re eating only crockpot meals until the new one comes.

I’ve only signed up for one race so far: a March marathon. I can’t wait! I think I might like spring marathon training better than fall.

Reply

I do have my race calendar set. I can’t wait to run Boston marathon with my dad and to run my first 50 miler!!

I’ve got 5 marathons and 1-50 miler on my schedule as well as a couple halfs.

Reply

Wow! Stephanie!! That is awesome! You will have to let me know how they all go!

Reply

I can’t get enough taco salads recently. Mostly so I can just cover them in excess amounts of guac – YUM. Can’t wait to watch The Bachelor! :)

Reply

Awesome that you signed up for the whole shebang. All 26.2 miles. WOW girl! You’ve got this, though. :)

Reply

Post baby marathon? You are a rock star!
Brooke looks adorable.. Like always and your hair is so long and gorgeous.. Jealous!

Reply

How exciting to add your full marathon!

My 2013 race calendar started with the Disney World marathon this past weekend. I’m running the Keys 100 relay (in the Florida Keys) in May and hope to do some 5k’s in between now and then. I want to add a half marathon for the fall but not sure which one yet. We don’t do any summer running because it’s too hot here and there’s no races available.

Reply

Yay! Good luck with the marathon, that’s awesome! Haha and the twinners shirt – that’s so funny. Love it.

Reply

She could definitely be teething! My mother constantly tells me the stories about how I got my teeth when I was just 3 months old…so it’ s very possible! She is so adorable!

Reply

That’s exciting that you will be doing the Utah Valley Marathon. I was looking at that one as a potential, but instead am doing the Mountains2Beach Marathon in California the end of May. I’m also getting to run my first Boston Marathon in April. I can’t wait!

Reply

hahah the shirt twins are awesome, I love Arie :)

Reply

Utah Valley is on my to-do list, seems like an amazing race. I actually have to travel to Utah a lot for work so I’m just waiting for my schedule to sync up so I can stay an extra day or two to run some awesome races at altitude!

Reply

I need to catch up on the Bachelor!! I missed the first one :( Oops.

You would make Billy put the shirt on to take a picture haha!
Although he’ll be away studying that leaves you more bonding time with Brooke so you can convince her it is cool to hang out with your mom 24 hours a day until she’s at least 47.

Reply

I just ran the Disney marathon yesterday (new PR! 3:43:38 Not as speedy as you but I’m super happy about it!) and though I’ve been relaxing all day, I can’t help but think about the upcoming races and new goals I have! Big races for 2013 that are on the calendar include the St. Pete Rock-n-Roll half in February, St. Anthony’s Olympic triathlon in April, Marine Corps Marathon in October and Space Coast Marathon in December. I will also add a handful of other shorter races in there to keep it fresh and fun!
Hope Billy’s first day back to school was great and you and Brooke are coping okay! ;-)

Reply

Ahhhh congrats on your awesome pr! You are amazing!!!!

Reply

I have never run a race before, and it’s so motivating to hear about all the races you’re planning to do! The food I’ve been eating the most lately is pepperjack cheese. So good!

Reply

I’m still trying to figure out my first post-baby race (most likely a half!) I think there’s one in April I wanna run in, but I haven’t even started training. I think I know what I must start doing soon…

Does anyone else find it kinda funny that she is sponsored by Brooks and her daughter’s name is also Brooke? Clever and so cute!

Congrats on the marathon sign up! You will have the cutest little cheerleader on the sidelines :) As of right now all I have is a Tri in August. Looking to add a few small races, some halfs and I really wanna do a full marathon but I’m not sure this is in the book for me at this time.

Soup is great for the college kid like me. Open a can and put in the microwave.

And of course I’m watching tonight, I mean, have you seen Sean? Adorable! He really has his hands full this season. I can’t wait to watch all the drama with my roomies tonight. Enjoy your party!

Brooke is so cute! Just wanted to say that she definitely could be teething…all 3 of my kids had teeth by 4 or 5 months!

That’s so awesome Janae! Now, remember you’ll be practicing at sea level and running at what?? 5500 above that? Just be careful… I kill myself switching between sea level when I go home for the holidays (I can run so fast!) and then coming back to UT

Congratulations on signing up for your first post baby marathon!
I am running an 8k this month, a 10 miler in February and my first half marathon of the year in March and then probably another half in April.
I am super excited!

Don’t have my whole calendar figured out yet, but in 2 weeks, I’ll be running my first solo race in 8 months (Green Corridor Run), and my first race out here in Singapore. The race should be a refreshing course of green through an otherwise super-urban area, so I’m pretty psyched.

And as the wife of a former law student and current attorney, I can say this – it gets better in the second and third years of law school. Then it gets worse again when he starts work. But that goes in busy/less busy cycles, so we find it sorta evens out. For now – hang in there!

OMG! I am flying out there and running the half. We are going on a 9 day trip to Colorado and Utah. I’ve never been to either state and am so excited.

I’m running the Utah Valley Marathon as well – my first full marathon after 20+ half-marathons. You’ll probably have finished running, showered and eaten lunch before I cross the finish line. Lol.

This is tempting me to sign up and have it be my first post baby half marathon. I’m so excited for you that is totally your race and you will rock it! Even if I don’t sign up, I would love to venture that way from Ogden and cheer you on!

I’m changing my plans a little because I have a baby on the way! So no marathons or halves for me! I think ill stick with fun 5k and 10ks and just rly try to keep running all the way thru this pregnancy.

Congrats on signing up for your first post baby marathon!! I just discovered your blog )

I won’t be running any fulls anytime soon. I am recovering from a surgery I had and am also 6 months pp. I had an ostomy bag placed one week after my son was born early (10 weeks!) and had that for almost 5 months. During that time I was running and spinning, my usual workouts because I hardly noticed the bag. I had the bag taken off dec 28th and have a 4-6 wk recovery. I am feeling pretty good but my legs want to run! I am not working right now and I am not allowed to run plus I think my abs would hate me!

When I do run again I hope to run a half on June 2nd, but if that is too much I can try a fall half, and the 10 mile race I do in August. I’m not sure if training for the half is gonna work which would have to start in early march but want to run as soon as I can. I was up to 6 miles before having surgery. We shall see :)
