Day #1 of meal planning was a huge success. Instead of wasting 50 minutes trying to decide what to eat for dinner, I already knew and could use that time to make the best darn carbohydrate this side of the Mississippi. I don’t know where that came from, I am sorry.
I used to make THIS BREAD all of the time but somehow I forgot about it. The one on the right is a garlic one and the one on the left is just plain and we ended up freezing that one.
This caesar dressing made the salad. Would anyone ever want me to do a post about my absolute favorite Trader Joe’s items since I have tried the entire store?
Every evening must conclude with some sort of dessert (pudding with white chocolate chips along with a few more handfuls of those white chips) while watching Flash Point.
Brooke was so exhausted that she fell asleep holding on to the toy that was dangling above her. She was even snoring a little bit while grasping on to her favorite toy.
What is your workout going to be today? Are you looking forward to it or not?
Do you ever make bread? Do you have a favorite recipe?
What was the last kind of salad that you had? Favorite salad dressing?
On a scale of 1-10 (1 being wide awake and 10 being really REALLY tired) Brooke was a 10 last night! What are you on the tired scale right now?
She’s just such a pretty little baby :)
aw I’m glad Billy was off!
I’m so particular about my dressings – love Italian!
The windchill is feeling like -20 and I have no gym access..and I *REALLY* want to run, but I might turn into an icicle mid-stride…sigh..
Emma @ Culturecopia
TR, I was listening to z103.5 this morning (online) and they kept talking about the extreme cold weather alert and temps that feel like -28!! That’s rough!
it is COLD out there – and I need to head out and grocery shop!!! lol!
Elizabeth @ My Neon Running Shoes
Glad Costco didn’t kick you out again ;-) that was probably a dumb thing to do to their number one customers. Today’s workout is 8 miles. I am looking forward to it because I foam rolled yesterday for the first time ever and want to see if it worked.
extra chocolate chips are a must!
You definitely should do a TJ’s favorite items post! I’d love to hear what your go-to items are :) Workout today was Insanity Cardio Recovery (yoga-esque workout, but still burns like crazy!)
That bread looks AMAZING. Oh my gosh I need it so badly. I think I’m going to go hunting for some today while grocery shopping. Also, that pudding cup is genius. I think I’d add marshmallows to mine.
Shay @ Whine Less, Breathe More
Î make bread occasionally. So good!
Today is a run day. Trail in the woods next to lake. Can’t wait!
Yes please on the Trader Joe’s post! I’m headed to Phoenix from Colorado for a half the first weekend in March and will bring an empty bag to stock with goodies if you supply me with a list of must haves! I have never been to Trader Joe’s, sadly!
Chelsea @ LittleOneRuns
omg that salad looks bomb!! running 6 miles this morning! maybe 8 if i get time. last salad i had that was amazing was caesar :) 2, only because i got woke up by my little turdy cat last night, and because it’s kinda early lol
That bread looks incredible! I have never made bread so I just might have to try it! TJs Thai Peanut dressing is my absolute favorite..you MUST try. Its right next to the Ceaser on the shelf.
Workout will be another easy five miles during my lunch break trying out my new HR monitor (obsessed, so much fun!) Before heading off to a much needed mini vaca in Arizona (today in MN it is -10) :(
I am heading to the gym (early) for elliptical and weights. I am ok with it, but would rather be running. Just trying to be smart about it.
I don’t make bread much unless it comes in one of those blue Pillsbury cans!
Went to Sweet Tomatoes yesterday!
I am a 3 right now. But ask again later in the day. Stayed up WAY too late watching tennis and still got up with the alarm. That will hit me later.
The Kidless Kronicles
YES! Please do a Trader Joe’s post! Another of my favorite blogs, An Immovable Feast, has a collection of huuuuuge TJ’s posts that I’m obsessed with reading.
Post your bread recipe.. I love my bread with garlic!
I was super tired yesterday and took a 2 hour nap on the ride home from our mini vacation in Duluth. There is just something about car rides that makes a person super tired. Plus, I went to bed at 8:30pm last night. I really needed the extra sleep on this cold, cold day in Minnesota!
Charlie (The Runner Beans)
I made bread on Friday, and I think I need to find a simpler recipe, it was so time consuming!! Tasted amazing though! I do make amazing Naan bread that is tastier and healthier than the real thing!!
Julie @ Sweetly Balanced
I was planning a nice morning run before work, but when I realized the roads were a sheet of ice I decided I turn around!! That bread looks amazing and I like your idea of meal planning, I’ve been trying to do that but I never seem to get around to it and always have to scramble last minute!
Salads for dinner means for room for dessert, right!
Never made bread before – but yours looks super easy! Would love the recipe- I love making things like that with my little chef!
Todays workout – currently doing chalean extreme so will do tuesdays video. Also will get a tempo run in at the gym (I hate hate hate cold weather running and its currently 17 degrees outside without factoring in the wind chill!) and will end the day doing push-ups (doing a challenge – today is 12×3 sets)
Workout is a speed set today so I’m not entirely looking forward to it because I’m a 10 on the tired scale. Way too many sleepless nights in a row and I can’t blame a cute little pumpkin like Brooke for keeping me up.
One of my fav go-to recipes right now and easy as anything is baked salmon steak with feta and lemon juice. Last salad was spinach and romaine with tomatoes, feta and avocado. I just make a simple dressing of garlic powder, salt, pepper, olive oil and red wine vinegar.
I’m totally jealous of Trader Joe’s. We don’t have one up here, but I can live vicariously so I’d love to see your favourites.
Emma @ Culturecopia
I was going to do some yoga and/or body pump today but then my GARMIN arrived in the mail and I just can’t resist trying it out!! I’m a bit sore from yesterday’s and Sunday’s run but oh well!
Megan S @ gourmet or go home
I am absolutely obsessed with this bread recipe right now. So so easy and comes out SO delicious:
Kari @ Running Ricig
That picture of Brooke is too cute! She definitely loves her toy.
I make bread a lot. I make this dough (http://www.artisanbreadinfive.com/2010/02/09/back-to-basics-tips-and-techniques-to-create-a-great-loaf-in-5-minutes-a-day) and use it for bread, pizza dough, calzones, etc. It’s soooo good and super easy.
Today’s workout is a 10k at 10k pace for speed work. I’m a little scared. Tomorrow is 14 miles. I’m not sure which will be less fun for a mid-week run!
Kait - @runkaitrun
spin class on tap for me today. that bread looks freaking incredible!
Michele @ Nycrunningmama
Doing speedwork later today or tonight. Planned on it this AM but with Ryan deciding to stay up until 1030, AJ getting up at 2 (for 2 hours), and Ryan getting up to nurse at 5, I am a total zombie :/
She is the cutest baby I’ve ever seen.
Staying out of the cold and going to the gym. Will run a couple miles then do some arm work! We’ll see what the mood strikes! That bread looks amazing!
Julia @ FitFreshFood
I have a tempo run planned for today, and it looks like I’m going to have to get to the gym. We have so much snow coming down right now! I’m probably sitting at a 3 or so on the tired scale, feeling pretty good…but the lazy scale, well that’s a whole other story :)
That bread looks delicious and I definitely need to give it a try!!
NYC Fit GIrl
I just have to tell you Brook always looks so happy!!!
Have you tried trader Joe’s salon Cilantro dressing? So good!
Jessica R @ fromthekitchentotheroad
The windchill this morning is -26 which means I didn’t run. That means I didn’t have to get up at 4:30am! My tired level is a 4 because of that. I feel mostly awake with a little residual sleepiness. I am satisfied.
I love TJ’s Goddess dressing – it has tahini in it so it kinda reminds me of hummus. I was going to go to the Y for a killer Body Pump class but my littlest is sick, so I’m working out at home today. Maybe.
My workout today will be a 3 miler followed by some Yoga. I love the Tuesday instructor! He really pushes you into great stretchy positions. I always wonder how I managed to get into them. He is that good.
The last salad I made was a Roquefort Pear Salad. It is so delicious, I just have to share the recipe. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/roquefort-pear-salad/ Thanks all recipes!
That bread looks amazing! I used to make this bread called zopf all the time. I had it on a trip to Switzerland and came home and immediately needed to figure it out. Now I’m going to have to break out the recipe again, you’ve inspired me :) I got my workout in nice and early, an upper body strength training and now my arms are shaking and I don’t know how I’m typing this. I think I’m about an 8 on the tired scale. Bad news since I’m at work. Oh well. Brooke is the absolute cutest, she wants to make sure no one steals her toys while she sleeps!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Putting chocolate chips in pudding?! Genius! I’ve added mini marshmallows before, but I’ve got to try out the chocolate chip route next. And I’ve also really got to try my hand at making my own bread. I’ve been wanting to for SO long, but the idea of working with yeast scares me.. it just seems like there are so many other things that could go wrong in the baking process!
That bread looks delicious!! Today is a cross-training day with a kettlebell workout. I am really looking forward to it….esp since it’s snowing here!
Brooke is too cute!
My workout today is a jazzercise class, and I sure am looking forward to it.
Best salad I last had was this Mexican one last night at Rojo..I basically made a whole post about how good it was. Not really but kinda…
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries
I LOVE homemade bread! I’ll have to check out that recipe you linked. My husband and I are loving Courtney’s (Sweet Tooth Sweet Life) Cheesy Italian Quick Bread lately. I just discovered it a couple weeks ago, and we can’t get enough!
Too cute! My niece was wearing that same exact shirt (the pink one) yesterday too.
Natalie @ Free Range Human
I love bread, and I really enjoy making it. I should do it more often!
Andrea @ Andrea Out Loud!
i am a 6 on the tired scale today. i really didnt sleep well last night sadly!
also, that bread looks so amazing it isnt even funny!!!
10 I have a head cold, and you know how when you’re sick and can’t sleep very well at night and then you end up tired X2. Hence, I think no run today.
Workouts for today already done: 30 minute run, and yoga.
I “make” bread…or at least, my breadmaker does. Love that machine. We had friends over for brunch, and they couldn’t get over Fresh! Bread! I felt like a rock star, when in reality, I spent ~5 minutes tossing ingredients into the pan. Win.
My mom makes an italian bread (I guess it’s kind of like a calzone). She uses frozen bread dough. You have to let it thaw and rise for several hours. She braids it but on the inside she puts pepperoni, salami, basically any italian meat, roasted red peppers, sauteed onions and provolone cheese. Braid the bread, brush with olive oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake. Seriously so freaking delicious!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats
Awww Brooke is too cute! And I’m about to head to the gym to get a little ellipticalling in, and hopefully run for 5-10 minutes… my PT says to do that to work on my form, but I’m not officially allowed to start running again until Sat/Sun.
I’m new to your blog and love it! I don’t have a work out planned for today. I ran 5miles on Sunday and 6miles on Monday so I planned a day of rest today. I’m getting married in 6months and need to shed a few pounds/define my arms!! How many days a week do you run? I’m trying to get into a routine but getting up at 530am has not been very motivating :-/
p.s. Brooke is adorable!
Yes, please do a favorite TJ’s post! We finally have one near our house. So glad they finally decided to bring them to Texas!
Andrea @ mainerunnergirl
That bread looks amazing! Workout today was a quick run outside- windchill of -6 brrrr!!
I don’t eat that much bread, although I like it very much. I made a wholemeal bread a couple of months ago, and it was far, far better than the bread bought at the store. So good! I have to make that again. Your breads look amazing! Can you post the recipe? And they have the perfect shape.
I have a 10K-run today and look forward to it. I vamped up my training a little bit for a half-marathon, and my runs feel great these days.
The day is so much better when you get to spend it with your hubby at home, I agree! For my workout I’m going to get on the treadmill and see what happens! Definitely looking forward to it!
Yes please, do a post on your favorite Traders foods! I’m a loyal Traders shopper and I rarely go anywhere else (except for stocking up at Costco).
I am trying to decide if I am going to run or do a barre workout after lunch. I woke up this morning at about a 7 on the tired scale, which I guess is an improvement over the 8-9 of a few days ago. Still, it is definitely not easy to find run motivation when your body barely wants to move.
Allee @ Griselda Mood
I’m going to do a Jillian Michaels workout and maybe some speed work on the treadmill…NOT looking forward to either, but I have some baby weight that needs to goooooo!
Erin @ erinruns
Can we talk about that bread???!!! I am clicking that link now! Looks delish ;)
That’s so funny that Brooke fell asleep holding that thing! So cute :) I am very intimidated by bread. Well, making my own bread at least. I can buy it like nobody’s business, but I’m scared to make my own. It seems like such a process!
That picture of Brooke asleep with her toy is too cute! And yes please on the favorite TJs items. I only get to go once in a blue moon so I am afraid to try out things I don’t know for sure I will love.
I’ve been wanting to try braided bread. But, I’m just too lazy. I like making quick breads…I don’t have to wait for them to rise. Looks so good, though!
Yes yes please on Trader Joes!
That braded bread is so pretty! Great job!
Brooke is so cute! I love when kids fall asleep in rediculous situations.
My workout today is just an easy spin on the bike. I did 6×400 last night which I used to do in my sleep but my legs are super feeling it today!
Homemade bread is the best but I almsot always find a way to mess it up! Maybe this will be the magic recipe!
Right now I’m an 11. I’m still trying to find my energy for the day. I love homemade bread. I love wheat and I make it in the bread maker (which I would die without now). The last salad I had was a fruit salad and the dressing was cool whip ;)
Jamie @ PistolPackinMotherRunners
After stalking your blog for quite some time….I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve never been to TJ’s. Like how I use that abbreviation like I have, though?
Plan is 3 mile run and/or Jillian’s Body Revolution as it finally came and I’m anxious to start it!
Please, please, please do a Trader Joe’s post! As you know we just got one in Utah and I haven’t been yet because I don’t know what I “need.”
Karen @ Runner Girl Eats
I had Caesar salad last night and it is def one of our favorites. Today I have a 4 mile run followed by yoga, can’t wait!
The bread looks amazing! I tried my hand at some whole wheat loaves this weekend but now I will need to try this recipe.
I had a 3 mile speed interval workout today – I really wanted to run outside but it’s SO COLD. I envy your treadmilling abilities.
Lisa @ Lisa the Vegetarian
My workout today is already done! I did a bootcamp workout this morning at 6:30 that kicked my butt. On the tired scale, I’m probably a 3 right now – pretty awake, all things considered.
Oh that dressing looks/sounds awesome!! I love TJs, so I would love a post all about TJs! :)
I am at about an 8. I woke up real early again today to teach….so I’m trying to stay upbeat thru work!
Kate @ So Cal Runner Gal
I have also tried basically everything at TJ’s. As soon as they come out with something new, I notice right away! Have you seen the mini Joe-Joes ice-cream sandwiches?
Yes! Please do a review of your favorite TJ items. It’s the best learning about new items even though I feel like I know the entire store, too. There is just always good stuff coming out and only so much time & money to try everything. There is a great blog devoted to reviewing TJ items: http://www.whatsgoodattraderjoes.com/
Does anyone ever ask you how much you weight? I just got asked how much I weight by another woman. I answered, but isn’t that rude? How do you feel about giving out your weight number?
The Hungry Runner Girl
Hey!!! I think that is really strange! I have no idea how much I weigh so I couldn’t even answer them ha!
Ashley @ Eat Run Live Happy
Today is a redo of day 1 of the insanity dvd. I was doing good for two weeks until I fell off the wagon.
The last salad I had was yesterday and it was amazing! I made hummus and grilled corn and black beans. I even have a handy dandy picture of it here… http://wp.me/p2QeYg-qf
P.s. Brooke looks adorable as always!
Laura @ runningjunkie123
I just did an easy 5 miler on the treadmill and lots of stretching…..I did 17 miles yesterday so I didn’t have it in me…..tomorrow will be cross-training (spin class!)
I make my boyfriend “crack bread”. It is the only thing I’ve made from pinterest….Him and his family LOVE it.
Please, please, please to a post on your fav TJ’s stuff. I went to TJ’s for the first time this weekend and was a lil overwhelmed. It was crowded and I didn’t get as much time I would have liked to browse. At least there was a froyo place next door to make up for it.
Brooke @ Running In Heels
I was literally just looking for a new bread recipe and reading blogs at the same time and yours was the first I read and I’m glad I did!! Cinnamon loaf here I come :)
I had 5 miles this morning, which I was really looking forward to since I had to get up at 5:30 to do it, but I feel good having it done now!
That bread just made my stomach growl!
Workout – Yoga!!
Scale 1 – 10: amazingly I’m nearer to 1… maybe a 3 or 4
Could you please do a TJ post of your favorites? I would have to make a special trip to Prescott to go and I don’t want to go in there and walk around in awe but not know what to buy!
That bread looks AMAZING!!!
Mary @ Fit and Fed
I figure skate so that will be my workout today like almost always. I’ll be working on my new program plus some ‘moves’ (footwork) that I’m learning for a test. Favorite bread: maybe walnut currant bread from the King Arthur Flour cookbook. Last salad: last night’s dinner, a home version of Trader Joe’s Super Spinach salad that I make.
Ha ha! That pic of Brooke is hilarious! So freaking cute!
please do a trader joes review!!!!
tired scale, 10…. every day
Natalie @ Twenty-Something Talk
You HAVE to write a post about your favorite TJ’s items! I get so overwhelmed by all the awesome when I’m in there, I definitely need more recommendations to try!
My favorite salad dressing right now is Annie’s organic raspberry viniagarette, so yum!
I love bread and that bread looks amazing! I am definitely going to try it!!
My work out today was a very easy paced treadmill run. 6.7 miles at an 8:57 pace. Yesterday was hills and tomorrow is speed work.
I just had a random, but tasty salad; lettuce, spinach, avocado, garbanzo beans, tuna, green peppers, cucumbers, croutons & a little balsamic dressing.
natalie @ southern fit foodie
Brooke is such a beautiful baby. Seriously.
That bread looks insane – since I’m doing no grains right now it’s killing me! I have made homemade bread and rolls before, but right now I’m doing some baking with coconut flour which is quite tricky. I did come up with a good recipe for honey coconut muffins this weekend that I can’t wait to make again!
You MUST write a post about your favorite TJ’s products!! It’s so overwhelming to go in there! I never know where to start and then try stuff sometimes that is just ok.
Brooke is adorable! She’s getting so big so fast. Enjoy every minute!
Weights and abs workout today. Did an old Tracy Anderson post-pregnancy abs video that I used to do(my youngest is 4) and boy it’s still HARD! Healing from another round of tendinitis so I’m in a boot and then no cardio on my feet until Valentine’s Day. Guess my bike and my swim suit will become my new best buds over the next few weeks. Hope it warms up around here!
I LOVE baking bread! I’m trying my hand at a sourdough bread recipe right now. It’s a gazillion steps including making your own sourdough starter. I had no idea what I was getting in to. You should look into the books Artisan Bread in 5 minutes a day and Healthy Bread in 5 minutes a day. They are both great books with a lot of recipes and the bread turns out delicious everytime. Website–http://www.artisanbreadinfive.com
Favorite salad-Cheesecake Factory’s BBQ/ranch chicken salad(YUM!)
Favorite salad dressing-Bolthouse Farms yogurt blue cheese
How tired am i right now–maybe a 3
I think I’m going to do strength training once the kiddo is actually asleep and a short run on the treadmill at the gym after a meeting on “strength training for runners” – convenient! It’s 11 degrees and windy outside soo… That bread looks absolutely amazing and I too would love for you to post about your favorite TJ items as I’m going there later this week or next!
Brooke looks like “Straighty” (haha cant remember Curly’s sister’s blog name…) in that first picture! Id say thats a good sign since your nieces and nephews are so freaking cute :)
Courtney @ CardioQueen
So my mouth dropped wide open when I saw the picture of the salad dressing you used! haha and the reason is described here: I used to live in Louisiana and would love to read about and see all your TJ’s finds, but we didn’t have one anywhere near us (not even 5 hours…which I would’ve driven!). Anyway, a week ago, my husband and I relocated to Los Angeles for his job (crazy!), and now I scream with excitement when I see a TJ’s on every corner! I LOVE the place, and I would love for you to do a post (or several..haha) about the amazing finds you get there so that I can now enjoy them, too! I already want to get one of those huge pound plus candy bars, but I’m really afraid of eating it all in a day right now as I sit at home and watch Parenthood and Biggest Loser….I mean, search for a job! :)
Courtney @ CardioQueen
Oh, and so the moral of the story that I forgot was that this weekend I bought that dressing and we used it last night, so when I saw it in your post, I was like “Janae and I are total TJ bff’s! :) haha
I’m making Smitten Kitchen’s soft pretzels for the super bowl, I’m so excited I’m not sure I can wait 2 weeks. Last bread I made was cheesy beer bread, it was delicious but I’m not sure it’s up your alley. :)
just made that bread recipe, and omgosh thanks for posting it! put it together this morning and my 6-month old daughter seemed to enjoy watching the dough in the mixer:) just baked it, ate a warm slice and am now trying not to eat both loaves myself before my husband gets home for supper. deliciouso!
The Hungry Runner Girl
That makes me soooooo happy! Enjoy!!!
Oh my gosh, that’s so cute how she’s sleeping holding onto that toy!!
No running here today. Single-digit temps and wind? No thanks. (no treadmill).
Janae, Since you linked back to an older post, I was looking at some of your other old posts..and this one caught my eye about being a Mom.
You should re-read it…unless you already have recently. It made me smile…because now you are a MOM & an AMAZING MOM at that! xo
YES! PLEASE do a TJ’s post ASAP – I will be in the States ( I live in Australia) in about 3.5 weeks and I need to ensure I buy every delicious thing in the store to bring home!
Was it the Greek yogurt Gogurt? Because I was so super tempted to but those at Costco today since I had never seen the Greek like that before.
3 miles on the TM today sonce it was about 6 degrees outside!
Pleeeeeze write a post about your favourite TJ products! I have never lived near one, but when I visited my in-laws in San Diego, I went there 4 times within a week. It was really traumatizing to go from TJ bliss back to no TJ. I’m still trying to recover, so please let me live vicariously through you!
I love honey mustard dressing on my salad, but it also goes on a lot of other foods even pizza! :)
Karla @ myhighonlife
My goodness Brooke is so cute in every picture!!
I love Trader Joes and must make a stop there soon… yum. That dressing sounds fantastic.
I can’t wait for the teeth and mouth to feel better. 24 hours post wisdom teeth and I am so hungry! That bread… is calling my name.
Ok, totally random but I just have to comment…
I clicked on the “THIS BREAD” link and it brought me back to your orignal post in 2010. Naturally I just kept reading from there (because I love your blog and love reading it even if its a throwback post :) and two posts later was “Babies and Chicken”. In that post you said how you visited one of your bfs who just had a baby. Anyway, point of the story is you ended that post with this sentence: “I guess being a mom is pretty amazing, I will have to try it sometime.” I just thought it was the coolest thing because fast forward a couple of years and now you have Brooke!! Little did you know you would indeed “try it” and turn out to be an pretty amazing mom yourself. :)
Hugs from Baltimore!
The Hungry Runner Girl
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for writing about that old post!!! I was right… It is pretty amazing!
That last picture of Brooke is hilarious. She’s so precious!
Thanks for every other faantastic article.
Where else could anybody get that type of info in such an ideal
method of writing?I have a presentation subsequent week,
and I am on the look for such info.
whiten skin mexican breakfast casserole with potatoes
Your pictսres look great !!!
