Why am I not on an airplane right now?

My new BROOKS PUREFLOW 2s came in the mail.

Yesterday was the kind of day that you get in your pajamas at 2 pm and stay in them for the rest of the day.  I wish my mom would decorate her fridge or something, it’s so plain.

Chicken enchiladas are my second favorite dish (after lasagna) that my mom makes.  So much delicious sour cream and cheese wrapped up in a tortilla.

The rest of the night was spent watching Iron Chef episodes with my mom.  It is amazing how they can make a show about cooking so dramatic.  One of the challenges was that they had to make a dish with anchovies…yum!

FYI Brooke enjoys holding a piece of my hair at all times.  She doesn’t pull it, she just really enjoys holding on to it.

ooooh! I’m glad you get to stay and have more time with your family! I’m sure you’ll be missing Billy lots though!

Those Brooks are so nice. The colour is perfect!

Most days if I’m running on the treadmill, I’ll alwaaaays leave on the Food Network to watch. I can’t cook, so I can live through those who can!!

Yay for more time with family! I’m sure the Billster misses you, but he’s got to get good grades, right?

Yay for postponing! Will u guys be coming back to Utah for Christmas?

What a long time for the finals to be stretched out! I imagine Billy is glad it is that way for study reasons, and yet can’t wait for it to be over! My finals for engineering school was one wk and done. Tough week, but over so quick.

I haven’t watched Food Network for a long time it seems. I gave up watching it as I started to lose weight this year and couldn’t bare to watch it cause it would make me crave food too much. But I have always loved watching ‘UnWrapped.’ Pretty sure because it is generally about junk food, and you gets to see the manufacturing plants (engineer nerd)

I made meatballs and homemade sauce the other day. YUM!

Awww I’m sure Billy misses you all, but it’s great that you get to spend some extra time at home and he can really focus on getting through finals! Tell him I said good luck and he’ll do great!

Enjoy the extra time with your family!

I feel like I should send your mom my picture to put on her fridge.:) what a cute lady!

Very cool you can stay longer!

No fish for me.

Mom made spaghetti for family last night, but I’m not a fan of red sauce in general. Everyone else loved it.

It is great that you have that option. And that Billy can focus on his finals. I am not sure I could be away that long.

So great you’re getting to stay extra with your family! But I’m sure you miss Billy a lot. Love your new shoes!

The last TV show I watched was Doctor Who.

I can’t say that I’ve ever tried anchovies, but don’t they put them in cesar salad dressing? So maybe I have had them.

Glad you get to have some extra time at home with your family!

Yum, I love anchovies. If I see a Caesar salad is made with real anchovies I order it every single time no matter what. Last show I watched was the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, not exactly quality tv but still entertainig ;) Last night my BF made me arroz con pollo, one of my favorite meals ever!

My daughter used to hold and roll her hair in between her fingers when she was tired or with her bottle or wanting to sleep. When I cut her hair short she cried until I gave her mine to twist and roll. Loved it.

Utah is lucky! Keep enjoying yourself, you deserve it!!

Next recipe I am in need of………that rice that is on your plate up above. Looks delish.

My neice is 2 now and she wants to twirl a peice of your hair in her fingers if your close enough (like if your holding her) especially if she is upset. She will twirl her little ponytail too and she has done it for just about as long as we can all remember. Brooke is sooo cute. Just love her.

I like anchovies on caesar salad! They are so salty and delicious. The last tv show I watched was Catfish on MTV – that show gives me anxiety!

janae, enjoy the extend-a-week with your family. and that is awesome that you have ONE MONTH to look forward to when billy is done his exams (wishing him the best!).
i watched foodnetwork with my parents this weekend, too! restaurant impossible (i think that is it) is our latest fun find. and, of course, diners, drive-ins and dives is a favourite!

i am not a fan of anchovies… they weird me out!

I tried anchovies for the first time a couple of months ago. super salty, but really not bad.

My husband and I have been watching ALIAS on netflix.

I made chicken strips, sweet potato fries and green beans Saturday night, we had pizza last night .

Have fun with your family!

Awwwr that’s so awesome that you’re able to spend more time with your family. I’m kind of spoiled because mine live pretty close and I’m able to see them whenever I want… like on Sundays when I go mooch food ;) Last night mom made a sweet ‘n sour chicken stir fry which is probably one of my favorite things she makes… aaaaand I’m sad to admit that it’s probably one of the few home cooked meals that I eat every week – I’ve just gotten a little lazy when it comes to being in the kitchen. Oops…

Interesting read, thanks for the link. However, as Dr. Wright said in the article, the large study that they seem to be basing their conclusion on was hardly done in a scientific manner. Since the conductors of the study did not measure the health of the participants’ hearts before the exercise began, it would be impossible to attribute a definite amount of degradation in heart-health to running. This study merely shows a coincidental link, not a causal one. That being said, of course running long distances and pushing yourself to run faster breaks down your heart. Your heart is a muscle and just like any other muscle in your body, the harder you push it the more it breaks down. The key however is that the breakdown is temporary. Just as the article states, the slightly elevated troponin levels which they are using to show heart damage returns to normal levels after the intense exercise is completed. This article is telling us something that all of us already know. We are human, and when we physically push ourselves out of our comfort zone we run the risk of injury. But just like the commuter who gets into his car every day for work despite the chance of getting into a car accident, pushing ourselves to achieve excellence is a risk that we as runners are willing to take isn’t it?

super good answer!! very true.

Last home-cooked meal was Korean rice rolls (resembling sushi, but it’s not sushi because there’s no raw fish).
There’s also a Korean sidedish with dried anchovies that I really like. I haven’t tried any other kind but I hear they’re really salty.

I’ll watch anything on food network, travel channel, bravo, etc! I Love it ALL! So excited that you’re staying in Utah for another week, except I’m sad you haven’t seen Billy in so long. But at least you’re living it up with family and friends and food :)

Those are some pretty new shoes! I have had bright link running shoes in the past and they are super fun.

We are going through a no eating out phase for the next 10 months so home cooked meals happen daily. Good thing I love to cook!

gotta say, Curly’s face in that photo is PRICELESS! she’s definitely up to something…

Those enchiladas look delicious! You should “borrow” your mom’s recipe to share ;)

Brooke gets cuter every day!

I’ve spent years thinking that I don’t like anchovies, but recently discovered that they’re quite cool in the right food! I normally cook almost every night, even if it’s only me at home, but the last week has been horrible with unplanned hecticness (yup, I reckon that’s a real word!). I’ve only cooked once in a week!!! It was bolognase at least :)

Reply

Love the new Brooks AND that you are getting an extra week with family! Yay!

I love Food Network….one of my favorite shows is Chopped but I like most the shows on there (except for the cupcake wars/cake competition shows).

I cooked last night but it was nothing fancy – I made roast beef and hot pepper cheese paninis. They were easy, but very tasty!

YAH for staying with fam! I bet you’re having a blast :) So sad about missing Billy though. GOOD luck to him!

Food Network is my favorite channel! I look forward to Next Iron Chef every week. I was STUNNED that Elizabeth Faulkner went home. She is one of the best chefs on the show! I’m cheering for Alex Guarnaschelli because we need a female Iron Chef!

But really my favorite FN show is Food Network Star. This past season might have been my favorite because I LOVE Alton Brown and he coached all my favorites! (Plus the winner). I could go on and on but I’ll stop here.

Oh my goodness that last picture of Brooke is seriously the cutest. She is so photogenic and I just love her to peices.

Lets hang out this week. :)

Anchovies are great! Love the natural salty taste, and anchovies on pizza….mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Is it sad that I am jealous of your nephew’s pajamas even though I am an adult? Last TV show I watched was Dr. Who! And my last home cooked meal will be coming up within the next hour because my mom is making lunch =)

Reply

I’m glad you and your family get an extra week of hanging out!!

Reply

I love pajama days! I also love Iron chef on Food Network, I could watch it over and over again and never get bored!

Glad you two were able to spend more time with your family while Billy studies.

I just ordered the same shoes today. I have been wearing the Pure Connect and can’t to try these. I wear a size 12, so it’s always waiting for the mailman for me.

LOVE the picture of you and Brooke! She is really starting to pay attention to the camera, isn’t she? Also, Curly’s side eye? BEST. EVER.

I’ve never had anchovies. Not that I know of, anyway? I probably have and just don’t know it. Last show? Currently, “Friends”. (That question could probably be answered the same at any time.) Last home-cooked meal? Chicken noodle soup. It was “meh”.

Reply

Mmmmmm….enchiladas are the best, I make really good veggie ones (if I do say so myself!). Enjoy your fam for those extra days!

OMG that picture of your baby girl holding your hair is so adorable. She is too cute for words actually :)
