On my way HOME!!!!

Yeah that early morning workout did not happen.  My alarm clock went off and I laughed and thought about how crazy I used to be when I would wake up every morning at 5 to knock out a double digit run before going to teach school.  I did jump on my mom’s bike for 30 minutes while watching Raymond and did some random arm weights while I biked.  It turned out to be a really good workout.

I had to pay them all a dollar (seriously) to take a picture with me because I was so sweaty after the workout.

I am not even going to talk about how much I am going to miss all of these people.  Good thing Billy is pretty darn amazing and I can’t wait to get back to him.  (I even attempted to get somewhat ready for him and yes I am wearing the exact same outfit as yesterday).

IMG 6729

As part of my mission to ‘never ever spend one cent on food in an airport’ I packed wheat thins, apples with pb and my mom made me a double decker (3 pieces of bread) PB and J.  PS my niece asked me on Saturday for a PB and J sandwich without peanut butter?

I am absolutely LOVING Chrissie Wellington’s book so far and Brooke and I will be reading it together on the plane.  Speaking of Brooke, I forgot to post this picture of her yesterday.  She felt pretty old when she was sitting up all by herself and joining into the conversation with everybody.

And just for the fun of it, I wanted to see if you could match the cookie with the country because we all know that this is very important information.

Ever been to any of the above countries… anyone from any of the above countries?

What book are you reading right now?  Have you read any athlete autobiographies lately?  Any recommendations?

What did you have for lunch today?  Do you usually have a quick and simple lunch or do you cook something?

I know pizelles are from Italy, because I’m Italian! Safe travels!

Pretty sure I am the opposite of not eating at Airports! Always buy some sort of chip or cracker bag Every Time!

Wish I had time for a workout lately!! Working on our extended family christmas card is consuming my life!! Well besides feeding, clothing and keeping the children alive. That is a a full time job apparently!

Been to Mexico and France – clearly not in the same trip! :)

Praying that you and the Brookester have a safe flight home! I love your polka dot shirt–that’s so cute!

I’ve been to Italy before but that’s it out of those countries!

Lunch today was a bean and cheese burrito and cottage cheese with raspberries. :) I think the mini twix are calling my name for a little snack in a few minutes here…I bought them to put in Andy’s stocking this year but there are only a few left! Oops.

Been to Mexico & Italy (been to Italy 5 times in the past year! Yikes! But I live beside it…).

I LOVE the book Born to Run and also the book The Non Runner’s Marathon Guide for Women…it just completely cracks me up!

Lunch…. these days I am obsessed with tomato sandwiches. I’ve been eating them for about two weeks. Also am really loving tortilla chips dipped in the salsa/cream cheese combo dip! Mmmmm…..

Speculoos is from Belgium! :)))) Have you ever tried the variety where they put Belgian chocolate on it? TO DIE FOR!!!

We even have ‘speculoos’ paste.. I think they sell in Trader Joes and the jar is named ‘cookie butter’..

Lunch and breakfast are usually the easiest things I can find because I don’t like dirtying up dishes more than once per day. I save all the messy cooking for dinner time!!

The Macaroons are from France. I am DYING to try one. I’ve heard such amazing things about them…but they are SO expensive. I tried to make them at home…major fail! We’ll just say that someday, when I win the lottery, that will be one of the first things I buy. ;-)

I’ve been to Italy and France and the cookies (and everything else) was delicious! For lunch I am boring and usually have leftovers. Today I had leftover Korean BBQ :)

Reply

I’ve been to them all, actually. Feel pretty international right now. I haven’t eaten the Mexican ones…hmm…must go back. I’m investigating Japanese desserts right now…we tried one made from boiled peas with honey and bean paste. You can imagine how delicious that one was!

Reply

Japanese desserts are something else. They always add something weird. Red bean sno cones, potato or salt ice cream, octopus donut holes…

Oh wow Brooke is getting so big! It’s hard to believe you were posting about being pregnant with her just a few short months ago! I love that you got to spend so much time with your family. I couldn’t imagine being away from mine for more than a month at a time (and a month is a REALLY LONG TIME for me). But I’m also so excited that you’re going back to see Billy! I can’t believe how long it’s been and I’m sure he’s super excited to see you :)

Been to Mexico, France and Italy. Parents are Italian and three of my siblings were born there. I was the first one born in Canada.
Loved A Life Without Limits and am reading Hansons Marathon Method at the moment.
Your daughter is absolutely gorgeous! I’d probably take a bite of her at lunch everyday if she were mine :)

Reply

My son used to ask for the same thing and did not liked it when we called it a jelly sandwich. Sorry you have to say bye “the for now” to your family.

Reply

Ah, that cookie matching thing is wrong! I’m sure it wants you to match Speculaas with Belgium, but speculaas is Dutch (i.e. from the Netherlands)!….I know, because I’m from there! :) Mmmm, love me some speculaas, especially this time of year.
Hope you are having safe and speedy travels and happy reuniting with your man!

Been to France, absolutely loved that vacation. (I do say that about them all, but really top 3 all time fore sure!!)
Bought my mom the Eat and Run book for Christmas. Google it because there is a trailer for it that had me hooked to get it for her. it is about a vegan ultramarathoner.
Happy Billy reuniting.

I am drooling over that candy corn. There’s nothing like a mid-run handful of candy corn in my opinion!

I hope you’re home safe and sound! And no, I haven’t been to any of those countries :(

Ive been to France and Italy :)

Rereading the Hunger Games(third time around)

What did you have for lunch today? Do you usually have a quick and simple lunch or do you cook something?
I ate a pack of fruit snacks, an apple and a yogurt. I was subbing today so thats why I ate a small lunch

Reply

I LOVE that your mom commented!! That’s so sweet! My mom does things like that too, aren’t they the best?
Lunch is probably my favourite meal, but if I’m home by myself I am SO lazy. Today I had leftover turkey taco & all the fixings on salad. That’s pretty gourmet for a lunch for one! PB & J is a go-to also…with both the PB…and the J :)

Reply

I have been to all of those countries with the exception of Belgium. Guess I have a reason to go back now.

Currently reading Blackberry Winter by Sarah Jio. Very good thus far.

I had a salad with hard boiled egg mushed on top with a sprinkling of cheese leftover from tacos. Then I followed that up with Skittles, because that counts as fruit.

Im from Scotland :) (And my guess is shortbread ;-))

Totally not holiday related, but my absolute favorite cookies ever are no-bake cookies!!! Pure chocolately, peanut buttery, oat deliciousness! Ready in less than 5 minutes!

I posted the recipe here:

I usually like to cook up something for lunch. I had a protein pancake around brunch today… but other days, I like to do chicken and veggies.

Reply

I have been to all of those countries except Belgium and Italy, but only because I lived in London as a kid and taking a weekend trip to France or Scotland then was sort of like driving to another state is now…no big deal. I’d love to get to Italy someday, though!!

I’m definitely obsessed with one thing for lunch and have it pretty much every day – crunchy P.B. on 2 slices of cinnamon/raisin Ezekial bread, topped with apple slices, and usually a Greek yogurt. I always have big ideas about making green smoothies, but by the time lunch rolls around and I’m starving, a smoothie just doesn’t seem like enough food!

Safe travels home!!

I asked for the Chrissie Wellington book for Christmas!! Cant wait.

Reply

Chrissie’s book is so good! I read the whole thing on my iPhone.

Reply

I loved Chrissie Wellington’s book! She is such an inspiration.

My go-to lunch lately has been an arugula salad with half an avocado, shaved parmesan and olive oil and vinegar. Or sometimes I will make a big green smoothie with some Vega protein powder (vanilla chai flavor is my favorite).

I traveled all over Europe in college but then didn’t go back for many years…until my husband surprised me with a trip to Italy in October for my birthday. So amazing!!

Reply

Pizzele’s are the best! Use them as cookies for an ice cream sandwich… mmmm!!!

Reply

I am reading Bringing In Finn by Sara Connell right now and it’s seriously changing my life! I can’t put this down and I can’t pick it up without crying.

Hope you made it home safe and sound and are now snuggling in Billy’s arms :)

Reply

I’m reading Great House by Nichole Krauss right now. And today I had black bean soup in my mini crockpot at my desk at school. And that picture of Brooke in the chair is pretty dang cute!

Reply

Hope you have (had?) a safe trip, Janae! I’m kind of travel-obsessed, and I’ve been to all of those countries except for Scotland… would love to go there too, though! As for lunches, lately mine have been super simple and snacky. I’ll often opt out of having a real lunch and just end up grazing on random things throughout most of the afternoon; but when I’m not doing that, I’m usually having something simple like a sandwich or wrap.

Reply

Been to France! Seems the whole world’s been there, though. I also made it to Scotland and Mexico. Now that I write it down, I’m kind of impressed with myself!

Reply

Omg. That pic of Brooke melts my heart! Before you know it she will be running right along side of you and Billy… Babies need to stop growing and stay babies!

I cook because I work from home and I can. But today I just had soup. I am reading Serena right now. The last athlete book I read was Meb’s book. It was good.

Not reading anything currently – after working on my own book for hours each day, my eyes are too tired – but the last one I read was Charity Shumway’s TEN GIRLS TO WATCH. Absolutely LOVED it!

Safe travels home!

No athlete autobiographies but I read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn recently and I could not put that book down! So good (and creepy)!

Reply

I read Chrissie’s book last summer. Loved it! But even though I was marathon training and sort of tri-training as well, I felt like such a major slacker compared to what she did day to day!

I just read (listened to audiobook) Finding Ultra by Rich Roll. It was a great book but he’s really into being a vegan and although he doesn’t want to come off “snobbish” when it comes to being vegan, he does. The running/ultra stuff is great and when I listened to him on the Joe Rogan podcast he was pretty knowledgeable. I took notes. I’m a nerd.

Reply

I’ve been to all of those countries except Mexico which is actually the closest to me geographically! Haha go figure
I don’t really like airport snacks but I always stop by Jamba Juice and get an apple ‘n greens smoothie bc it’s the only place in the area where there’s a Jamba Juice stand!

Reply

I love cookies but I could not figure that quiz if my life depended on it! I’ve been to mexico and it was the best 2 weeks of my life. I recommend any John Green books or Born To Run by Christopher McDougal.

Praying for your safe trip home!
I went to Mexico when I was 14 on a mission trip. I got to help build houses for people it was an awesome experience! I usually go for quick and easy for lunch.

I love that your mom’s comment was the first one! I can’t wait to go to MI for the holidays to see my Mom!!

Brooke looks like she is totally a part of the conversation… too cute!

Once my final exams are graded I might start reading J.K. Rowling’s book… I have avoided starting it because I know I’ll be out of commission for everything else once I do.

I’ve been to France twice! First for an exchange then for a follow up vacation with my exchange family. It was awesome! We ran through the French country side in what seemed like endless fields with wild flowers. Absolutely beautiful. They also had tons of delicious macaroons!

I wonder about them too some times. Especially this one, until I ralelced the one that happened at a place I once worked. Seems some computer systems require twist-lock plugs to ensure they have their own circut. Also 120 Volt and 240 Volt twistlocks look remarkably similar, but are not interchangable. Now, with only one receptical handy under the raised floor — a twist lock 240Volt. A new server with a conventional US type flat-blade plug, a spare twist-lock plug that fits the receptical, a hardware tech haddy with a wire cutter and screwdriver, 15 minutes to swap the plugs and thee days to get a new power supply on site and installed.

I’ve been to Mexico, France, and Italy. Dying to go back to Italy soon!

I had Amy’s Chili with Vegetables, a big dollop of sour cream, sriracha, and a wedge of cornbread for lunch. hit.the.stop

Airport snacks are a necessity…travel makes me hungry.
