All I want for Christmas is…..

Another day of roaming around the aisles of Costco eating as many samples as they let me before kicking me out.   We went to Costco to pick up the pictures we dropped off on Monday and ended up leaving with chicken nuggets and pajamas.

Every time my mom goes to Costco she just has to buy a new pair of pajamas for Brooke.  Today’s pajama selection was the zebra.  (She is pretty tuckered out from her day at the salon).

IMG 6589

Actually we did get one more thing at Costco and that was a frozen margarita pizza that was very delicious.

My dad took my nieces and nephews to get donuts because they rocked their science project and since Brooke was asleep I didn’t go with them but I did write a detailed list of the exact ones that I wanted.  Sprinkle donut last night and snowman donut for sometime today.  I am still kicking myself that I forgot to ask for an apple fritter.

Don’t act like you didn’t start making drafts of your Christmas list 3 months ago like I did.  I finally have made all of the revisions and all I want for Christmas is a best little chocolate lab friend for Brooke:

Chocolate lab puppy by buddenbohn

Okay, so Billy vetoed that idea since we already have 3 people sleeping in one room.  What I really think I want is a juicer.  Actually I wouldn’t call this my final decision but I am pretty sure this is what I want from Santa but I need to find the cheapest version possible so that I can afford to put food inside of the juicer.   I want to be that person that drinks a juice full of every vegetable and fruit every morning so that I can be super healthy ya know?  Added bonus: Juice is delicious.   Second added bonus is that this one is red and maybe somewhat affordable.

Unnamed

I need your help:

Any recommendations on a good cheapish juicer?  Do you have a juicer?  Do you think it is worth it?  How often do you use it?  Favorite things to juice?

Have you started your Christmas shopping?  What is number one on your Christmas list?

Anyone reading have a chocolate lab (or any lab)?  I want to know so that I can covet you.

Would you rather have a cupcake or a donut?

I do not have a juicer but I would love one. I find myself buying the Naked brand fruit and veggies smoothies and while they are delicious and healthy, they are $$$. I don’t know if I would actually use the juicer if I bought it. I always start out well with those things but then forget about it…

I have a chocolate lab named Sophie and she is 6. We got her when I was pregnant with my first son so they have grown up together. She is THE BEST DOG EVER. So sweet, so calm, and so fun. If you ever decide 4 in one room is ok (or move), chocolate labs are the way to go!

My best ever present was my cat – there’s something about a pet for Christmas that is very special!!

I don’t have a juicer but I do keep meaning to try the whole juicing thing.

And cupcakes…red velvet ones…all the way!

Reply

I think a juicer would be one of those things you use a few times and then it sits in the cabinet forever. You can juice things by hand. Or with a blender. I thought I wanted a steamer once. It wasn’t worth it.

I would much rather have a cupcake!

No help with a juicer here! I just had a Santa brownie for breakfast so no greens for me. :).

Most days I would prefer a cupcake over donuts but cookies are my fav.

My Xmas want was a pair of boots & I bought them the week of thanksgiving. My husband has strict orders to NOT buy me anything else! Lucky for me my birthday is New Years Eve! :)

The PJs they sell at Costco always look so comfortable! The snoman donut looks adorable! Is it filled with anything?

We have a juicer here! There is a lot to clean, but love it every time we use it. We have a Breville Juice Fountain Plus. ($149) The pulp is really dry and gets a ton of juice out. I actually JUST did a post on how I give my boys ‘Green Monster Juice’ to round out their poor veggie eating. http://rockorangefive.blogspot.com/2012/12/green-monster-juice.html

My #1 item on my list keeps changing. From a GPS Garmin, new wool coat, books, etc…I just update my Amazon wish list whenever I think of something and hope Santa (mom) sees it :)

Ditto what Deana says about the Breville….

No juicer, but I do have a chocolate lab named Kona. He looked just like that puppy in the picture when I got him! (He is 3 now.) I live in NorCal also if you ever want to borrow him ;-)

Reply

I’m usually a cupcake girl, but I’ve been loving donuts lately! I think it’s because I rarely ate them before so it’s like I’m discovering a whole new world :D

Reply

Lemme help you out here, Janae. You can have MY expensive juicer that I bought and used once! The freakin’ MESS it made was astronomical and the cleaning of this unit? OMG
Then I DRANK the darned juice it produced and it went straight to my blood, the sugar did cuz I was shaky and felt weird til I ate real food, with the fiber and God’s way He made it in tact. Hahah
I could not figure out why I just paid all that money for aallll those veggies it took to make a small amount of juice and then THREW OUT the fiber!!! IN the garbage went a big pile of my money and fiber. Then I spent 20+ minutes cleaning up the mess.
That’s my review of the juicing process..haha. Literally I live in CA and used mine once. Want it? (smile) I’m really serious

Reply

Your experience is exactly how I imagined I would do with a juicer!

Reply

That’s exactly how I feel about my juicer

Reply

I 100% agree!!! I juice everyday but with a blender. I get to keep all the nutrients/fiber in my spinach and carrots and fruits and have no mess after.

Reply

Haha, so true. Ours is SUCH a pain to clean. Also, the juice doesn’t taste as good as the actual fruits and veggies did alone. (maybe I’m a bad juicer). I gave ours away last week to some unfortunate soul.

Reply

Took the words outta my mouth…juicers are seriously overrated!

Reply

I have a Hurom juicer (it was a couple hundred bucks) that I used at least 3 times a week and I LOVE it. You have to be willing to put in the prep time which just depends on what you are juicing. But it’s totally worth it! I am always in need of more healthy stuff in my diet and there’s nothing like a fresh green juice! Also, when I’m feeling like I’m getting a little sick, I juice a couple oranges and strawberries and its like a power shot of goodness that helps instantly.

Juicing isn’t for everybody, but I absolutely recommend it!

I feel like a juicer is calling my name. First Sarahfit was doing a juice cleanse. Then I was reading old posts on rabbit food for my bunny teeth about her doing a juice cleanse. Then I watched Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. Now you are talking about a juicer! I don’t want to do a juice cleanse or anything, I just need a method to get more fruits and veggies in my life and juicing sounds like an excellent option for me :)

Reply

I would rather have a cupcake!

So what does one do with the remaining fruit pulp after making juice?

Reply

Big thing on my list is a laptop. Pretty sure that is not happening since I just got a tablet for my birthday in October.

Also on my list is Yurbuds, preferably in the Tiffany blue and a Magic Bullet.

Reply

yes yes yes! we have a chocolate lab! You must get one. Brooke needs one. THen we can be pup twins!

Reply

I thought I wanted a juicer, too! I got one last Christmas but ended up hating it. It took so much produce just to make a glass, was a PITA to clean and I did not feel full from drinking them (no fiber). I ended up going back to drinking smoothies (I always sneak spinach in and you cannot even taste it) and am much happier.

What I do love it my Magic Bullet. I use it ALL the time. So affordable and worth every penny. Great for smoothies, slushies and soups! I even used it to make purees for my 15 month old when he first started on solids.

Reply

I second this!!! Get a really nice blender or a Magic Bullet. Such a better investment. Unless you feel like spending $30 on produce to make 2 glasses of juice!

Reply

If you want a nice blender, check out the vitamix line. They’re pricey, but worth it!

Reply

I totally agree. My sister had a juicer for a while years ago and the amount of money she spent on produce just to get a little bit of juice was ridiculous. She has since dropped the juicer and is a smoothie girl all the way (as am I).

Reply

A lab would be the best Christmas present of all time. Bungee is the best. I’m about to change into running clothes and go running with her. You totally need a running buddy.

I don’t have a juicer, so I’m no help there. This year I struggled coming up with things to ask for for Christmas. I ended up asking for a wood floor steamer. Being a grownup is so exciting.

Reply

baby PJ’s are adorable.

Now, THAT is a hard choice…cupcake or donut :O May we never truly have to chose..I’ll go with cupcake!!

Reply

I don’t have a juicer… just not a big juice person. I feel like it’d be one of those appliances that I’d get and then use once and never again.

CUPCAKE OR DOUGHNUT??? Impossible to pick!!!!

Reply

The thing about a juicer is that it is a pain to clean, and you have to buy a TON of produce to make a little juice. It’s really not worth it, in my opinion. I borrowed a friend’s juicer for a few weeks to see if I wanted to buy one and my final decision was no. Because I’d rather just eat the fruits and veggies rather than putting ten into a juicer and getting half a cup of juice. If you can afford to buy one to use every once in a while, fine, but I can’t. And like I said, it takes at least 30 minutes to clean it and you have to do it right away or all the gunk hardens and would be impossible to get out.

But if you’re going to get one, get the Jack Lalanne. It’s the cheapest and works just fine.

Reply

I have no idea what I want for Christmas. My birthday is on Dec. 9th and I do not know what I want for that either. I just bought myself an early b’day present, a Canon Rebel t3i with a lens kit. Arrived last night! So excited!

I have a 5 year old chocolate lab named Boozer Butler. He is the best and is so protective, cuddly, sweet, and he loves to give me hugs and kisses!

I would much rather eat a cupcake, but doughnuts are tasty too!

Reply

I don’t have a juicer-I have a VitaMix which is awesome! It will grind up everything and anything, and you’ll end up getting more fiber in your drinks. I also use it along with a steamer to make my baby food. My drinks I usually make are green smoothies with either spinach, kale, romaine then with a bunch of yummy frozen fruit.

Reply

Hm, I don’t know much about juicers but don’t see the difference between a juice and a small blender. I throw everything in my small blender and am able to drink lots of fruits and veggies daily. and its not miserable to clean either.
I don’t have a lab since I am allergic but I do love them. They are very fun, loving dogs. But big, def not an apartment dog. Sorry :(
I would choose a cupcake over a donut every time.

Reply

I have the Jack Lalanne juicer. I think it was around $100 and works just fine. I’ve had it for 2 years and used it like 4 times. It takes so much fresh produce just to make a small glass of juice. And like everyone else said its such a pain to clean.

Reply

This post cracked me up because 1) I asked my mom for a juicer for Christmas and 2) my husband and I just bought ourselves a flat coated retriever for Christmas! We named him Hobbes (after Calvin and Hobbes) and he is adorable!

Reply

I’m kinda with all of the above. LOVE the fresh juice I get from my juicer but it is a pain to clean. But then again, the juice is amazeballs. For two small glasses of apple, carrot & ginger juice you will need three massive carrots, four apples minimum and two bits of ginger. And we’re talking small glasses. Maybe that gives you an idea. And you’re left with a half a pitcher full of stuff for your compost heap. It can be quite the, ehm, intense thing for your body to get used to (if you’re not used to vitamin bombs like that in one go) as it might just go straight through you, just sayin’…. Overall verdict? We don’t use our juicer as much as I’d like to because of the hassle but every time we do we LOVE it. :)

Reply

That lab is precious! I have a very special place in my heart for that breed. I have a beautiful yellow lab named Daisy that I got for a graduation present. She’s 10 1/2 years old now, and we may not have her much longer. She’s a great pal!

Reply

That Jack LaLanne Power Juicer that you have a picture of is fantastic. We got one a couple years ago with extra wedding gift money! : ) None of them are SUPER easy to clean, because there’s fruit pulp everywhere, but this one is at least a little better. You just have to rinse it and put it in the dishwasher. Also- if you don’t get all the pulp off, your dishes come out with little fruit specks. Gross.

And now you know everything you need to know.

Reply

I would rather have a donut, but it would have to be from my hometown bakery, seriously they make the world’s best donuts. The Centerville Bakery (in Centerville, SD) – no joke you have to get there early in the day or they sell out and they don’t make more. mmmmm I am now (as usual) wishing I didn’t live so far away so I could go eat one!

Reply

That chocolate lab puppy picture looks just like my Harley girl did when she was a baby! Labs are the BEST!

I have that same Jack LaLanne juicer (except mine is white), and I love it. I juice every week, and in the summer I juice daily. My favorite combination right now is romaine lettuce, zucchini, cucumber, celery, apple, orange, lemon, parsley, and ginger.

I’m almost done with my Christmas shopping, so I’m pretty pumped. What I want most is a new phone. The main reason is just to have a better camera on it though so my blog’s pictures can look a wee bit better. New running shoes are close second.

Reply

I’d rather have a donut! I don’t have a juicer, still living like a gypsy/college student.. One day though!

Reply

Hey Janae! I have a juicer that I got for SUPER cheap because it was a summer deal of some sort and I swear I got it for like $100! Of course it’s not the best, but it does well and I have only used it a few times..I think the downside of a juicer that I don’t like vs. a blender or VitaMix is that they are such a pain to clean! All the vegetable compost gets stuck in the blades and you can’t put it in the dishwasher :/ For me, I would rather just go out and get my juice made for me because it usually tastes better, and no clean up! Plus I don’t use my juicer that much..but use my blender all the time!

Reply

I’ve thought about getting a juicer but then I’d spend so much money on vegetables!

Reply

I have a yellow lab, and he is my baby! Definitely the best dog breed ever, but I could be a little bias :)

Reply

Christmas shopping is super fun! I’ve gotten some gifts but am still trying to come up with an idea for my dad…he’s so hard to buy for! As for my list, I’m hoping Santa will bring me a DSLR camera…specifically the Pentax K-30…but we shall see.

Reply

I never start Christmas shopping until at least two weeks into December. I always tell myself that I’m going to start earlier, but I just love that last minute rush way too much. And I’m horrible for figuring out what I want for Christmas – all I have on my list so far is a pair of brown riding-style boots… and now maybe donuts too… seriously craving one right now…

Reply

I’d love a juicer! Fresh juice everyday yum!
I had a yellow lab and she was so high energy but so adorable.

I just have to buy stocking stuffers for the husband and I’m done! My number one gift that tops my list is a race medal holder. All of mine r in a shoebox. I’d also love a preordered pair of the pure connect2 brooks shoes that come out next month.

Reply

I’ve always read that you get more benefits from eating the whole fruit or vegetable than with juicing. And the thought of using so much food to make one glass of juice has always turned me off.
My #1 gift was a new Garmin, and it’s ready & waiting for me. But my husband said NO TOUCHING until Christmas, and it is killing me.
A lab/hound mutt adopted my family while I was in junior high. Best dog ever. So smart & so sweet.

Reply

Labs are dream dogs…they are THE BEST. Our lab is so sweet and gentle (he is a yellow lab- 3 years old, named Dakota). We could literally take a huge steak out of his mouth, and he would NEVER even think of biting. He is a fantastic dog. He thinks he is human- and tries to climb up on our laps and sit on us like a baby. He lets me brush his teeth, and he follows me around the entire house every minute of the day. He sleeps at my feet when I’m on the computer or going to the bathroom ;) He LOVES our kids and they love him back. He brings HUGE JOY to our family- and I’m not even kidding. I kiss him on the lips every day of his life. :)

There- now doesn’t that seal the deal for you getting a lab?

Hugs

My husband insisted on a juicer when we got married. He used it one time and one time only because I was the one who had to clean it. I have been trying to get rid of it for months, you are more than welcome to have it :)

Those snowman donuts look fantastic! The donut vs cupcake question is harder than it should be. I have no answer. They are both great.

Reply

I always get a tub of grapes when I go… so good! I miss donuts… I can’t remember the last time I had one. Sometimes they’re exactly what you’re craving. I love that about Costco though. When you walk in with specific things in mind and you walk out with everything but that. I always stock up on my grapes. 3 pounds of grapes sounds like a pretty good deal to me!

Chocolate labs are THE BEST breed hands down. My chocolate lab Java just passed early this year, but she was amazing. :) And a great running buddy!

Reply

I want a Vitamix soo badly-which won’t help you much because they are super expensive. My mom thought that would be “a great xmas present” until I told her how much it cost. She claims she’s gifting me some cash to go towards buying one. Every little bit helps!

I want to have green juice/smoothie every morning for bfast too. I actually made one this morning in my food processor but it was apparent how much I need a juicer. It came out quite clumpy. However I did feel really good and energized after drinking it…goes to show!

Reply

I have a juicer and have only used it a couple of times because it takes forever to clean! I got a Blendtec blender (from Costco:)) and make my juice in there and it is sooo much better and takes only a couple of seconds to clean. I use it daily!! I make smoothies, soups and all sorts of things. I was hesitant because of the cost, but it was the best purchase ever!!

Reply

I have a Breville juicer and use it almost every day. I love it! I juice anything and everything. It’s really easy to clean too, takes 5 minutes max. We also have a Vitamix blender, which is great for smoothies, but you can’t make juice in one unless you strain it…

Reply

I’m not a dog lover but we recently got a chocolate labradoodle puppy. He is super cute. He has curly hair and doesn’t shed like a pure lab. Something to think about when you eventually get that dog.

Also, I know you are super busy being on vacation and all, but if you get a chance to answer my email about your stress fracture that would be greatly appreciated! :)

Reply

I have a chocolate lab!! She is 2 years old and the cutest thing in the world! When I saw that pic I almost died because that’s exactly what my little Molly looked like when we got her 2 years ago! They are the best dogs in the world and I think you should DEFINITELY get one :)

I don’t have a dog, but I use to work at a vet. hospital. Chocolate labs are super hyper and kind of dumb & clumsy. They are super cute, though. I personally think yellow labs are the best!

I have a lab and she is the best dog ever! Ok, she’s my parent’s dog, but adorable none the less.

I’m doing a juice cleanse at the moment (3 days), but I have a service that does the juicing for me. I have a good friend that has a juicer and she loves the juice, but hates cleaning it. Maybe look for one that is easy to clean so it doesn’t make you turn down juice for fear of a 20 minute cleaning exercise?

We don’t really do presents, so I haven’t really done anything (lame).

I would have to go with cupcake, but I am dying to try some of the gourmet donuts I see around Chicago.

I have the breville juicer. It works amazing and cleans easily! I bought it at Macys when they had double discount and got it for $90.00! Just watch for coupons!

I’d most definitely prefer a donut over cake any day! Those Christmas sprinkle ones look incredible.

Labs are the best dogs!! I hear they make awesome running partners too :-) Win, win, win!

I don’t have a juicer but I do have a blendtec. I absolutely love it and it blends things well enough to make juice. I think its more versatile too so you can use it more often.

My Christmas shopping is about halfway done :)

I don’t have a chocolate lab but I do have a austrailian shepherd. She’s my baby :)

Growing up my family had 2 labs, one black and one chocolate. They’re seriously the best dogs and oh so cute. :)

The #1 thing on my Christmas list is a dslr camera. It’s pretty pricey but I’m hoping my boyfriend may have scooped one up on black Friday.

And I would choose a donut over a cupcake any day, though I’m pretty sure it’s been at least a year since I’ve had a donut. Total travesty. ;)

I recommend the Jack LaLane juicer from costco.
http://www.costco.com/Jack-LaLanne's-Ultimate-Power-Juicer%e2%84%a2.product.11590808.html
We have it and love it. It definately got used more when we first got it (the novelty of new made it fun). But even now, we juice here and there. And it isn’t that bad to clean up. The key is to clean it right away after using it.
I think the warehouses sell them for $10 less than the website. Bonus – you can have some samples while you’re at the store to pick it up! :)

Yay PJs from Costco and juicers! I got one for my birthday last year. I L-O-V-E, LOVE it! I have heard not to go too cheap on them as they wear out quicker or even leak! I juice all the time in the summer but not that the good fruit and veggie season has passed I juice a lot less because the fruits and veggies are as taste and the price is often higher. One thing I will say, overall it is quite expensive. Some of my faves include kale with beats, an orange or apple. I put everything in to taste and adjust accordingly. If you like carrot juice or tomato juice, a juicer might be your best investment ever. I for one, hate both of those… I think you should look for matching zebra PJs, I bet Billy would love that!

Reply

Also keep in mind, yes the veggies are expensive and you don’t get a ton of juice but if you can include veggies you normally wouldn’t eat you’re still getting a nutrition punch and a normal juice serving is 6-8ounces… Check out the move ‘Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead’ if you are still up in the air about it….

I found a juicer at a thrift store for $5! It works like a charm.

Okay, I don’t blame your mom for always buying Brooke pj’s. She is too stinkin’ cute!!!!

He even made a little shout-out to you! :) Gosh, I love that man.

Oh my… I’ve been craving donuts like crazy lately and now that craving is back! Brooke’s new PJs are adorable!

As for the juicer – I got a Bella Juicer from Macys last winter when it was on sale for about $65 (and we had a 20% coupon from being a Macys card member). It’s kind of difficult to clean, but definitely worth the cost compared to some of the $200+ juicers.
You might be able to get a sweet deal on Amazon Prime because Billy is a student at SCU. I know that I get a free Prime membership for being a college student and it is great! Free two day shipping on everything :)

I have owned a juicer which I used once and then gave away via freecycle. Juicing is extremely expensive and a pain. Growing up we had labs and they were the sweetest dogs. I have started Christmas shopping but I’m no where near done. I like to wait until days before and then go to the mall in a made panic. I am all about cupcakes because we have a lot of cupcake shops in DC thanks to Georgetown Cupcake. I would like to eat more donuts but with only Dunkin’ Donuts in the area it would just be boring.

JUICING!!!! ONE OF MY FAV THINGS EVER!!!! GET THIS:

It’s a super awesome juicer and it’s super on sale right now – totally worth the moolah, I promise! The only pain is to clean it after you juice (but that’s the case with pretty much all juicers) – my favorite juice is carrot apple ginger beet! YUMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

p.s. Brooke is getting so big!!! AND ADORABLE!!!! Congrats mama!

Well I don’t have a juicer but I do own a bullet. Best appliance ever!! I use it for smoothies, salsa and milkshakes.
We adopted a lab/great dane pup over the summer and she is awesome! Mandy is such a sweet dog. And surprisingly, not that large. We also have a greyhound (Boyd) and he is such a lovebug.
Most definitely a cupcake girl! I love to bake them and eat them. It’s the perfect dessert. I break it in half and put the bottom on the top so it’s like a bite of cake.

I want a juicer so bad! I feel like my day would start so much more healthy if I had one :)

Well… I started shopping for myself if that counts. I want a JJ watt jersey…or some shiny jewlery from the man :)

We have two black labs at home. I love them so much-they’re so sweet!

Totally rather have a donut!!! :) My parents have a chocolate lab and my aunt breads chocolate labs! They are SO wonderful!!! If you ever decide to get one (and Billy doesn’t veto it ;) ) get an English lab. They have boxier snouts and are shorter to the ground. I think that they are not as hyper as American labs and MUCH cuter!!! :) hehe

I went to look at a lab mix at a shelter and came home with a boxer! She is way more calm than any lab I’ve ever met. Love both breeds though. Well pretty much all breeds :)

I have a chocolate lab and a juicer! Oh snap!! lol. I have a cheapo Hamilton Beach juicer that hubby got me from Wal-Mart for Christmas 3 or 4 years ago. It works great! I don’t use it as much as I’d like though. My favorite thing to make with it is carrot, apple, pear juice. We got the chocolate lab around the same time for my daughter when she turned 3.

Reply

Judging from friend reviews, Jack Lalanne’s power juicer is one of the best.

We had a yellow lab who was the sweetest dog ever. She was great with my nieces and nephews, and so gentle even in the midst of her hyperactive puppy moments where her chew toys were involved. They are such smart animals, and they love to be around people. They can be very destructive in their puppy years, so hide your expensive shoes. Sadly, after living a wonderful life, our Kadie died just four days after her 12th birthday. They don’t live long enough, but are worth every moment they are here.

I would recommend a magic bullet. I have a juicer and it cost so much to make one cup and the cleaning every time is horrible. I got a magic bullet and the list of things I can do is endless! I make fruit smoothies, protein smoothies after runs, and recently started making veggie smoothies (spinach, carrots, cucumbers, celery, orange juice). Virtually no clean up and you can make salsa, guac, salad dressings with it as well. Whenever mine breaks I plan on buying anther one!

Reply

I bought a nice juicer a few years ago for a juice fast I was planning. I only lasted a few days on the fast and haven’t used the juicer since! We got it from Wal-Mart. It worked really well, I just personally don’t care for the taste of making my own juice. I think we paid like $100 or $120 for it? Anyways, if you would like to have it I’d be more than happy to give it to you! That way you won’t have to waste your money in case you don’t end up liking it. I think I only used it 4 or 5 times. I’m sure you’d get WAY more use out of it than me! If you’re interested, let me know! :)

Reply

I have a Breville juicer which I love when I use it. It is unbelievably expensive to make your own juices b/c you have to put sooooo many veggies and/or fruits into the machine to make the juice. I also get sort of upset when I see how much pulp there is left over, I mean there is a lot and it’s all completely dry of course so it’s not like you’d want to just eat it. I have fed the appropriate pulps to my dog on occasion and she loves it, but I feel kind of wasteful when I juice. Over the summer I would go to the farmers market and get huge bags of seconds, apples, tomatoes, whatever I could get and that was a cheaper way to do it.
I am a weirdo about desserts, I would rather not eat a cupcake or a donut but I can definitely eat a huge cup of frozen yogurt any day of the week!
Brooke is so darn cute! Is she ever upset b/c she is always happy or sleeping in her pictures? Lucky mama you are!

I have the Jack LaLanne juicer and I love it! It takes me about 3 minutes to clean – I never put it in the dishwasher. I keep thinking that I will save the pulp and use it somehow (carrot cake maybe), but haven’t done it yet.

The biggest piece of advice I can give you is that if you do get a juicer, clean it immediately when you’re finished using it.

Best juice ever – carrot orange!

I LOVE my juicer and use it at least once a day for our morning green juice. I have a masticating one (so that I can make nut butters, sorbets, mince veggies and meats, etc), but if you want something cheaper I’ve heard Breville are great for the money. I hope you get one, it sounds corny, but it really has changed my family’s life for the better. I love knowing I’ve gotten that extra oomph of nutrition, and especially where you are breastfeeding, what could be better? I actually did the math and found juicing to be less expensive, because when I juice I eat more healthy and don’t buy all of the processed junk I used to spend money on. It just depends on the person I guess. Also, masticating juicers are far less wasteful, take less than a minute to clean, and produce better quality juice, but like I said, a cheaper version is a great way to start. I juice a lot and have a lot of recipes on my blog if you’re interested, as well as a lot of posts about the juice fast my husband and I did, and why I chose our specific juicer.

Good luck!

Oh and the zebra jammies are darling, I almost bought them too, then realized my girls have 8 million pairs of pajamas. It’s an addiction.

I just asked for a juicer for christmas today too!! Don’t know if I’ll get it, so please post a lil review if you get one. I’m on a juicing kick right now but making big batches at my parents house os getting annoying (prob more for them than for me!).

You want a blendtec! they are expensive but so worth the investment. I put any fruit/veggie combo in there and it blends it up into a magical smoothie. so great!! ps- so sad i haven’t seen you while you’ve been in town. it’s finals time for me! :(

A juicer is a great Christmas idea! I would not go real cheap though because when it comes to juicers you really get what you pay for. I have gone through a number of juicers and most juicers I have tried including Jack Lalanne juicers do not really get all the juice out of the veggies! You need one that ends up leaving the pulp dry. I now have a Kuving juicer (I ordered it online from COSTCO!) and it works great. It was over 100.00 but I love it because it provides more enzymes in the juice with the low heat it produces, it leaves the pulp REALLY dry, and it even grinds up hard to juice veggies like Kale and wheatgrass. Plus I love that Costco has the best return policy ever and you can return things at anytime!

My family has had 2 black labs. I might be biased but they are seriously THE BEST dogs. My sister was 2 when we got our first one and he was wonderful with her. She liked to share her food with him though and therefore he thought everyone wanted to share their food. So, he would steal things off of your plate. Don’t let Brooke do this…you’ll be sorry when he steals your donuts! He was a massive Lab (like 140 pounds massive) and we rode him like a pony. It.Was.Awesome. The second lab is the most cuddly old man and probably the sweetest dog EVER.

Can you tell that I really love Labs?! Someday, Billy will give in and you will have one!

We loved our juicing experience this past week. Very fun. We fed the pulp to our chickies. Feel so healthy and good inside out! We borrowed a breville juicer from Alex’s coworker to see how we liked it. I don’t know the model # but we’ll probably start saving our pennies to get a juicer just like it.
