3 minute intervals

Brooke is getting a little too much attention today.  She is soaking it all in.

Workout:

Playing multiple games of pool (I wasn’t going to mention it but I feel like I should- but I also won multiple games of pool).

Last night Brooke was up until 2 because she slept the whole way down in the car and so that meant that the three of us slept in and woke up at about 10. I had two choices:  go running or go to heavenly Corky’s for the meal from my dreams.  You know the place will be good if it is open 24 hours a day because that must mean that it is so popular that people want to go all day long.

I don’t know what is creepier…. my brother in law or my neck.

Can you even believe this goodness?

I came up with the best idea ever.  4 out of 6 of us (not Billy of course because he hates sharing food) wanted to try multiple dishes.  We chose 4 very different dishes and set my timer on my phone for 3 minute intervals.  We had 3 minutes with each dish before we would rotate.  I truly think this was one of the best ideas that I have ever had.  The chocolate chip pancakes and bfast burrito were my favorites.

Our waiter wanted to be in the picture with us.

Billy’s brothers love playing with Brooke’s hair and trying to put ponytails in.

Haha I love that I was expecting to read something about running three minute intervals, but instead it was about rotating food. That’s awesome and a great idea! My breakfast of choice when going out is usually a mix of savory and sweet like eggs, bacon, and a side of pancakes. Glad you guys are having such a great time so far! :)

Love all of this!!

LOL at that pic of your brother-in-law :P
I haven’t been on a run since Sunday because of finals :(
And now I want chocolate chip pancakes…

HAHAHAHHAHA!!! I am dying laughing. Hilarious/AMAZING idea about the 3 minute intervals. genius! Also, I think guys are hilarious with babies-my brothers do the same silly stuff with my niece. Your posts make me smile all the time-I find it so refreshing. Enjoy the family!!

Your brother in-law is definitely creepier!! Was this done on purpose? Either way, it’s awesomely creepy.

My husband brought home Chipotle salads/bowls a few nights ago.

My reason for missing workouts for the last year: stupid fractured vertebra!! I’m hoping to start swimming soon. We’ll see.

That table of food is something else. The pancakes look ginormous. My go to meal is pancakes, but I also need protein on the side. Bacon, eggs, sausage. I also like biscuits and gravy.

I’m sure Brooke is loving the attention!

I worked at Romano’s Macaroni Grill as a singer, but I also helped out with other duties when not singing. It was such a fun job!

Have fun with your family! How close in age are Billy’s brothers?

Yes! This is one interval session I can totally get behind. I love sharing/trying food. The more the merrier. Luckily my husband and family are down with it. You should copyright that idea. Genius. We ate at Chick fil A on Monday for Anna’s bday. One day my kids will pick a place other than chick fil a for dinner.

If I KNOW they have good oatmeal (ahem Corner Bakery Cafe) then I got for that. Otherwise I like french toast best. (mmm. creme brulee stuffed french toast from Bear paw). Breakfast burritos are always a safe bet.

The only flaw with your 24 hour theory is that Dennys is open 24 hours and Dennys is fowl.

I skipped running on Saturday because if I didn’t get it done super early, there would be no time. Yet, I chose to sleep in instead of run. You can bet if I missed a run, 92% chance it was because I wanted to sleep.

Looks like you guys are having fun. I can’t even imagine how spoiled Brook will be come Christmas morning. Lucky girl. I am off to convince Ross we should drive to St George for the sole reason to eat at Bear Paw.

Best idea yet- need to try ASAP :)

So cute that your BILs like to play with Brooke! Then again, how could you not?!

Brooke’s little onesie!!

Haha! When I read the title of your post, I thought it was going to be about workout intervals, but I have to admit that I like the idea of breakfast tasting intervals SO much more. Holy.wow do all of those dishes look amazing…

Sometimes too much choice (especially on a menu) can make me panic-order something that I don’t even fancy – intervaled food swapping seems like a great idea!

After at least two weeks of craving Nandos and everyone I meet talking about it, I finally went on Monday night. By myself! Macho peas and spicy rice are the BEST!

Reply

Hah! If I participated in the 3 minute intervals, it would be totally unfair because I eat so fast. I’d end up eating double what everyone else ate. But it sounds like a brilliant idea!! My kind of intervals.

Reply

Hahahahahhahaha the three minute interval idea is killing me! So genius. I can just picture you eating as fast as possible so you get lots of tastes of each food :)
Such a good idea!

Reply

That is a fabulous/hilarious idea of 3 min intervals! HAH. My family would not go for it though. Hah. And it wouldnt be awesome for me b/c I eat so slow. Ugh.

I love eating b-fast out, must do that more next year!

YAY for family! I spy Shelly & danny :) funnnnnn!

I was a waitress at Old Spaghetti Factory while in college.

I last ate out at Gogi’s – delicious Korean BBQ taco stand. YUM!

My reason for not running lately is because I am busy cooking and cleaning up in the kitchen. Preparing food is a very good reason to put off a run. Another good reason is that I am still catching up on How I Met Your Mother.

Reply

That photo of your bil is creepy! LOL

I ate at Jimmy John’s for lunch yesterday. Best subs!

Go to meal that you order when you go out to breakfast? I usually get an omelet. Preferably with nuts and stinky cheese. Yum!

Reply

Not one of your questions but I have to say I think it is so cool you guys have so much fun family around to visit and play with Brooke. What a wonderful Christmas time!!!

Reply

Oh the waitressing days… Let’s see Bennigans, Outback, Peppermill Grille, Texas Roadhouse. Fun times!

Reply

Shopping with my sister trumped the run.
I absolutely love your interval thing. Chris has been makin fun of my dinner plates lately because it looks like I am at a buffet with all these different flavors. He just takes the main dish……(boring)

Reply

Last few days off of running was from being sick (almost the flue). I think it’s a good excuse ;)
When I go out for breakfast, I like ordering a veggie omelette.

Reply

You must be really close to me because the original Corky’s is 3 minutes from my house and the other is just down the freeway.

I have never worked in the food service industry.

Last food outing was my boyfriend’s work party on Saturday at a Brazilian BBQ – meat, meat and salad bar buffet.

Reply

I have been wanting pancakes, French toast, and/or waffles for ages now, and I have yet to get them. That needs to change A-sap! Specifically, I think chocolate chip pancakes are in order!

Reply

I got really excited bc I thought you were in Rancho and we could meet up for froyo or something. But…you’re not in Rancho. Wrong Corky’s. ;)

Anywho… On to the quiz.

Where was the last place that you ate out at?
Olive Garden this afternoon for a department lunch at work. Soup, salad, & breadsticks are sooooo yummy.

What was your last reason (excuse:) for missing one of your runs?
Too busy. I have to run in the evening after work and sometimes other commitments, my daughter’s activities, and or laziness come into play.

Go to meal that you order when you go out to breakfast?
French toast, scrambled eggs (well done), and bacon. And OJ.

Is there anyone reading that is or has been a waiter or waitress? Where?
I was never a server. But I was a hostess at Crabby Bob’s (now closed) for a while.

And the 3 minute idea is SPECTACULAR. Only, knowing my husband, he’d scarf down his whole plate in 3 minutes just so he can pass an empty plate. LOL!

Reply

The last excuse I made to skip a run was that I didn’t want to wash my hair lol sad, but true! the last place I ate out was Barnacle Bills for raw oysters. Delicious!

Reply

Not at all sad!! I consider doing two-a-days but then think, “but that means I have to take ANOTHER shower!” nope!

Reply

I was a waitress for three whole weeks and I hated every second of it. I had absolutely no training and was thrown in. I probably could do it now but at the time I had very low self-esteem and had no idea what I was doing. It really wasn’t a fun time.

Reply

Aww love Brooke’s little ponytail!! :) And that is the BEST idea ever to time the eating! I love sharing plates too, and am the most indecisive person when it comes to ordering food at restaurants, so I would definitely be on board with that! Funnily enough, I was also a waitress! So I could never get annoyed when people took forever to order- I’m the same way! ;) I worked at Spaghetti Factory.

xo

Reply

The last place I ate out was Panera and the last reason I skipped my run was because I was deathly ill. Okay, not really, but it felt like it at the time. :)

Reply

my last reason for missing my run was vampire diaries, yup watched too many episodes before i ran out of time! was slightly worth it!

Reply

My go to meal is always eggs over easy with hashbrowns! Love it!

I used to serve & bartender at Chili’s when I was in college …I think everyone should work in a restaurant at some point!

Reply

Last place I ate out was Chipotle. YUM!

Having a cold was my last excuse for missing a run- I know it shouldn’t be considered an excuse because I was sick, but I was definitely overdramatizing my sickness.

Vegan huevos rancheros or a tofu scramble. I get thrown off when I have to choose between potatoes and grits or an english muffin and a biscuit. Carb heaven!

I was a server for a minute, quite literally, at a Houlihans. (not sure if they have it out west)

Reply

Haha when I saw the post title I thought you were going to talk about ‘Three Minute Intervals” for a workout! This was a great idea. I played pool yesterday and LOST.

Reply

Well done you. I’m always super jealous of girls that are good at pool- instantly makes you seem way cooler:) That tiny little ponytail is adorable.

Reply

How big are those pancakes!?!?

Reply

sorry, i’m actually with billy on this one…i hate sharing food. i’m vegetarian and i hate when people want to go to ‘family style restaurants’ because there’s always only ONE food i can eat so everyone else gets to sample like 10 meals and i get like 2 spoonfuls of the one thing i can eat. i hate it!

i’ve been a waitress, cocktail waitress, and a bartender and i think it should be a life requirement that everyone be a waitress at least once in their life.

Reply

Corky’s is fine for breakfast, but don’t every get their pie. We got boysenberry for my husband’s birthday and it was AWFUL

Reply

last place was togo’s lol funny i consider that a “restaurant”

i just NEEDED rest, when i had rested already for two days…

i actually hate going out to breakfast lol i never like the eggs places make and everything else has milk in it

no, everywhere i applied to said i needed experience, but i couldn’t get experience unless i get hired lol

Reply

Definitely omelettes! Sometimes I like them with veggies, and sometimes I love them with everything but the kitchen sink in them. But definitely omelettes :)

Reply

I love 24 hour breakfast places. They really are the best. The last place I went out to eat was a diner where everything is slathered in butter. It really is heaven.

Reply

Your brother-in-law is awesomely creepy! Thank you for not cropping him out, it was a good laugh!

I love that I was fully expecting running intervals, but it was really food intervals!

Reply

Haha! I thought the 3 minute intervals were fitness related too! Can I just say food intervals just might be the best idea EVER!!
I am loving Brooke’s little pony tail too :)
Last place I ate out was Red Robin! And I too, used to be a waitress at Applebees and Pizza Hut. Those were the days… :) And my last missed run was Tuesday due to snow. crummy!

Reply

Blueberry pancakes! :)

Reply

Your brother in law is creepier ;) I love Brooke’s “ponytail” :)

Omg I love that idea!! I always like getting different stuff than my friends haha
