I refuse to run in the dark

We are down to the last 48 hours of Utah time and so my day is packed trying to fit everything in so the only time I could fit a run in was early.com when it was still dark.  Even if I hated the treadmill you still couldn’t pay me a trillion dollars to run outside instead of the treadmill when it is dark.  I do not run in the dark by myself.  I will be the first to admit I am afraid of the dark.  Off to the gym I went to run 8 miles at an 8:04 pace. This is the first run that didn’t feel like my lungs were on fire since I have been here, just in time for me to go back to sea level.

Good thing you don’t HAVE to move your arms when you are running because they are so sore from CrossFit that they refuse to move.

I got home, didn’t stretch which is surely going to help the fact that I am incredibly sore and then we were off to a neighborhood Christmas party.

Pancakes, muffins, eggs, grapes and chocolate milk… a complete bfast:)  The eggs were the best part, they were so fluffy and perfect.

Brooke had her first Santa visit and she was more interested in her hand than the big guy in a crazy costume that is going to bring her presents.

I really wish I was crafty.  Like, I really want to be crafty but I am not.  I just have to live through my friends and go buy their incredible things.

I went to jr. high and high school with these beauties and I love seeing them every chance I can.  They both were selling things at the boutique and so I will have to show you later what I bought.

Our last stop was to pick up the things that we painted last week when we went to Color Me Mine!  You can kind of see Brooke’s foot prints on the tile but in real life you can see them better.  (See my niece’s bow necklace?  Yeah, we both got one so that we can be twins)

Off to go hang out with Mer and one last trip to Yogurtland to say goodbye (even though I have a feeling I will be back to Utah within 2 months.

I’m definitely not a fan of running in the dark either, so I don’t blame you for doing your run on the treadmill! We have a Christmas party tonight… It’s potluck style which I love so I can try a little bit of everyone’s various delicious foods! I go back and forth with pancakes vs. waffles. Lately pancakes have been winning! And I LOVE eggs of any kind, particularly since I’ve been pregnant. ;)

I do run in the dark early morning hours! There are quite a few other runners in my neighborhood and its well lit :) I love how peaceful it is!

I will never run outside in the dark EVER!! Way too scared and I keep hearing about crazy things happening to runners!
Nooo parties yet and definitely WAFFLES but I make pancakes more often because I am too lazy to take the waffle maker out!

Have fun with Mer!! xoxo

I definitely prefer running in the dark to running during the daytime. First: I feel like I’m going a million times faster than I actually am. Second: the FL heat is definitely at it’s least brutal very early in the morning and very late at night. Third: my painful facial expressions going into the last mile or so should not be seen by others ;)
Love that bow necklace – so cute!

I don’t like running in the dark unless it’s at the well lit/populated track!
No Christmas Parties yet :)
I definitely prefer both pancakes AND waffles with lots of butter and syrup! yum!
Now i’m going to have to go makes some! lol ;)

I pretty much wouldn’t be able to run if I didn’t run in the dark. I don’t have a gym membership so it is outside or nothing. I work long hours so it doesn’t matter if I go before or after work, it is always dark. I am currently running in the morning so there are less weirdos out there and some days it gets at least a little light out before I am done. Those days make me happy. In the summer it will be light in the morning, that will be nice.

Now I really want pancakes and eggs for lunch! And grapes…but they are sadly out. Alas. Running in the dark creeps me out. Our first christmas party is next saturday!

I’m so sad you are leaving, it was so fun to see you! I love that little Brooke and will miss you both greatly :( I sure hope you let us all know when you come back!! Hey, at least it snowed before you left. Let’s go run in it :)

No running in the dark for me! I love both waffles & pancakes, but if I had to choose it would be waffles!

I also only run in the dark when I’m with someone. It’s too dangerous to go alone! And my friend’s and I are having weekly Christmas parties every Friday night! We ge together for dinner, drinks, and a Christmas movie! It’s a great way to start the weekend and get in the holiday spirit!

Oh, my mom has a running curfew for me when I’m home. Rude if you ask me. It is kind of scary though, so I guess I see where she’s coming from…

I definitely have to pick pancakes. We’re off to our first Christmas party tonight!

I run in the dark if it’s close to my house, and never without some kind of light (I just got knuckle lights) and stun gun. I prefer to have someone with me, but it isn’t always possible. Sadly I rarely go to trails by myself, even in the daylight.

I love both, but will have to go with pancakes over waffles.

Enjoy the rest of your visit!

No running in the dark for me either. I’m a big chicken!

I used to see runners running at night and I thought they must be insane. I am NOT an early morning runner so I always run after work. Well, it starts getting dark here around 4 PM during the winter! (I just started running in April so this is my first winter since I started.) I was petrified the first time and ran so fast I couldn’t believe my time. My time since that first dark run has gone back to normal, but I do find that I really do love running in the dark. And bonus: I get to see all my neighbors’ pretty Christmas lights!

If I chose to never run in the dark, then I would nevet be able to run. I go to work when it’s dark and come home when it’s dark. I carry pepper spray on my run and run sans music to keep me aware of my surroundings. I hate treadmills and refuse to pay a gym membership.

Pancakes or waffles-the most difficult decision ever! I guess I’d have to say waffles?

I’m not against running in the dark, but I’m fortunate that my schedule allows me to run when it’s light out because (and I know this will hurt your heart), I don’t like running on a treadmill.

I don’t run in the dark. I had to run the three minutes down to my apartment complex’s gym one morning and I was utterly terrified…it was about 6am so hardly murderous times! I’m a chicken!!!

I only run in the dark with someone…and living in the country where there’s no lights at all, it’s a bit dangerous. Sometimes it’s almost completely dark when I get home though.

No Christmas parties yet?

I’m a big fan of pancakes and waffles. I’d say it’s a tie. And I do like scrambled eggs.

Your day looks super fun.

Your friend on the right looks just like Amanda Bynes! Well, before she got all crazy…lol.

Waffles > Pancakes. I like when all the craters fill with sugar goodness.

Love the bow necklace as well! Do your friends have an etsy shop? or some other online way of selling things?

I wish I had the key to making good scrambled eggs. Mine never look as fluffy and delicious as the ones on your plate today.
Running in the dark alone takes away any serenity i am seeking from a run…….so no!

Reply

I refuse to choose between pancakes and waffles, I love them both too much! I hate running in the dark. I only do it if someone is with me. Otherwise I’m convinced ill be hit by a car or kidnapped or both.

I love running in the dark as long as I am with someone. I really love running in the dark this time of year and enjoying all of the holiday lights!

No Christmas parties yet. They start for us next weekend.

I love pancakes and scrambled eggs. I make them for lunch a lot when it is just me and my 3 year old. It us so easy to make just what I need and it is always a hit with him!

Enjoy the last of your trip to see your family. It looks like you are making he most of your time there!

Aw, it looks like you had a great day!!

I would never run in the dark, I own way too many black workout clothes haha.

I run in the dark, mostly because it’s the only way I get to run. I kind of hate the treadmill so I do what I have to. Luckily I live in a safe neighborhood, but you never know. I swear I heard a coyote howling one night. But I live in Tennessee so I kind of doubt that it was really a coyote.

wow, time has really flown by. I can’t believe it’s the last couple of days for you already. I hope you enjoy every bit of it! :)

I will NOT run in the dark either. Unless I have someone trailing with me in a car or something. haha. safety first! :D

I hate running in the dark but unfortunately the sun doesn’t rise until 7:30am and sets at 4:30 and for some reason my job won’t let me run in the middle of the day. So if I want to run its gotta be in the dark during the week. Good news it’s only a couple weeks till the days start getting longer

I don’t run in the dark either! I am totally a TM girl when it comes to that!

Love the idea of the footprint. SO cute!

Reply

I totally agree with running in the dark. Won’t do it!! Not even with the dog. Although right now in Utah you only have about 9 hours of the day that you can actually run… Haha.

Reply

I run alone in the dark, but I live in a subdivision with
a lot of other early morning runners, and I never wear
headphones when I run in the dark, whether in with
someone or alone.

I love running in the dark! I don’t feel on display and it’s kinda peaceful. I usually run with my run club though and when it’s just me I run up and down main roads with lots of lights and traffic. And definitely no music.

I love pancakes but unfortunately find them hard to make. I always end up burning them or having them gooey in the middle.
No Christmas parties for me this year.

Reply

i used to be afraid of dark runs too…but then i basically forced myself over that when my schedule was getting super crazy and i had to either run crazy early are crazy late. still though, i ran on streets with lots of street lights, so nothing pitch black.

oh, i’m a chocolate chip pancake girl forever! :)

enjoy those last few hours with the fam!!

NO running in the dark. Can’t decide between pancakes or waffles at the moment. LOVE Brooke with Santa. :) Can’t wait for my boys to meet her. :)

Reply

I run alone in the dark, though in recent years I’ve become much more nervous about it than I used to be!

No Christmas parties yet, but I’m secretly ok with that because I’m in the middle of preparing for a move on 21 December AND working on assignment that’s due for my Masters degree, not to mention trying to tie up loose ends at work before the holidays. I am really looking forward to relaxing with friends and my adopted Australian family this Christmas :)

I’m a wimp: I can only run outdoors when the sun is out and temperatures are apt!

I do run in the dark, but only in the morning. Is that weird? Well, I don’t really run at night anyway.
First Christmas party was Sat with Cookie Day! Thanks Mom.
Waffles. With peanut butter. I like scrambled eggs ok.

Ok this might be strange but I totally prefer to run in the dark. My usual departure time is between 4:30 and 5 am. I know my gait is atrocious so that’s the reason……I make less of a fool of myself.

Reply

ACK! I need a bow necklace! Where can I get one?

Reply

I love running late night or early morning buti refuse to run in the dark alone! I don’t even go in the downstairs of our house if the lights are out (or I bring a bat and make my dog come with).
My group of friends got wise this year and started the christmas parties on Friday Nov 30th!! Every weekend is filled up through christmas. I LOVE christmastime!

Reply

I don’t mind running in the dark if there are safe places to run and street lights. Around my neighborhood, though, that’s not the case and it’s basically just pitch dark and no sidewalks.

Reply

I feel the same about running in the dark. I won’t do it unless I am with someone. I can’t see ANYTHING in the dark, so it makes it EXTRA scary!

Reply

I also am not a fan of running in the dark. I’ll do it with other people, but even though I don’t like it and get freaked out that something is going to happen.
I am definitly a pancakes girl! I love my waffle maker, but I crave pancakes over the waffles.
