Brooke’s First Double Date

Some days I take way too many pictures and I hope you are okay with that.

Brooke had her first double date yesterday and it was at the mall.   Her bff Brooklyn was there with her so she wasn’t too nervous about this date.

Photo 1 copy

A close-up on Brooke and her date.  As you can tell they are really into each other.

Photo 2

I met up with 3 of my girlfriends and their kiddos and hung out at the mall for 2.5 hours.  We only went into one store so please do not ask me how in the world we were there for so long.  When I left it was already dark outside and my stomach was growling like a maniac.  Luckily I am always prepared and had my jar of chunky peanut butter in my car to get me through the drive home.  What would I have done if I would have had to drive the 15 minutes home hungry?

Photo 3

Dinner was made in approximately 6 minutes thanks to leftover pasta, shrimp and quick garlic sourdough bread.  The water bottle I got from the hospital from when I had Brooke is my favorite water bottle ever.  It is the kind with a straw and it is just the right size.

I created a masterpiece.  Nothing is better than topping your favorite carb with another one of your favorite carbs with a little Everybody Loves Raymond in the background.

Once Billy heard that Brooke rolled over ALL BY HERSELF YESTERDAY he decided it was time to start teaching her to walk.

Yes, I went shopping twice in one day.  When I asked Billy what he wanted to do yesterday after dinner he said he wanted to take me to Lululemon?!?! We went but I didn’t find anything to spend 2 trillion dollars on and instead we found a sweet sweater for Billy on sale at H&M.  I have always wanted a sweater with elbow patches and now I have one (I guess now is the time to remind Billy that what’s his is mine).

Last but most importantly:

I guarantee if you bring the Party Python to your next get-together that you will make a lot of friends quickly.  It is over 8 feet long and has more than 36,000 calories.

Billy sent me this picture and I officially want it.  He is weird and said he would choose the Red Cherry flavor over the other one.  No one really likes cherry flavored candy do they?

How old were you when you went on your first REAL date?  Do you remember your first date?  Any fun details?

I haven’t asked in at least a week what YOUR WORKOUT is going to be today?!?!

Do you keep any snacks with you at all times or in your car?

Brooke looks so cute on her first date!!! And you can totally tell by her face that she is ready to walk! She will be running in no time! :) I love that you keep PB in your car! I don’t drive much bc I work in NYC but I have a ton of snacks stashed in my desk drawer and lots in my bags in case I get hungry on the train :)

Hahahahaha that picture of all four babies together literally made me laugh out loud! Yey for Brokke rolling over all by herself!

Ok, giant gummy bears, chocolate eggs, lollipops, I get, but who in the world thought up a giant gummy snake? I certainly would never argue against more candy in the world though :)

I was 16 when I went on my first real date and it was with a really dorky kid that I had no interest in at all. He was really nice and I didn’t want to be mean and say no!

I always keep a bag of nuts in my purse in case hunger ever hits!

BTW, that gummy snake looks disgusting!

My first real date was when I was 17 and out of high school. I was kind of a dork in high school, I didn’t blossom until I was well and graduated. :)

I ran a little over 5 miles yesterday and my heel issue decided to act up today, so no running for me today. I’m heading to the pool for a nice long swim and a soak in the hot tub.

As for snacks in the car… I am not very good about doing that and some days, I really regret not being prepared.

I always keep a bar in my purse… you can never be too prepared, right? That snake is crazy nuts!!!! Brooke’s date is very handsome. Hope she had fun!!! ;)

I have the day off and it’s beautiful out so I’m planning on killing two whole hours and running 20km. I’m excited!! Fueling while waiting for it to warm up just a bit more. I could use one of those party pythons!! (And Pull n Peel licorice is the only cherry flavoured candy that I like)
It was the summer between grade 10 and grade 11 when I went on my first REAL date. We went to an Italian restaurant and then to see Wedding Crashers.
Ps. Topless women on a giant movie screen during first date = INCREDIBLY awkward.
I am TOTALLY jealous of your sweater with elbow patches — they are equally sophisticated and epic. I definitely hope you get more wear out of that sweater than Billy does.

My workout will be a groove class followed by a power class. Love Thursdays double class!!!
Always have snacks in the car. Usually trail mix or a granola bar

I don’t keep snacks around because I will eat it whether I’m hungry or not. It can get dangerous. I was 15 for my first date. We had dinner at Tony Romas (is that what it’s called??) and went to a hockey game. It was fun.

Oh my gosh this is so cute!! Love that Brooke is going on dates.. Good for her ;)
She’s going to be a heartbreaker when she gets older!

Reply

Love her date and that she rolled over already! She’s going to be so strong!
I also love elbow patches and would totally wear Billy’s sweater, too.
I hope to sweat it out on the bike trainer today, and get in some strength. We’ll see if all that happens after work!

Reply

Congrats to Brooke on her milestone of rolling over! Yay!

Brooke’s date is too cute! Sounds like you had a fun day, even if you didn’t get a $150 gummy snake :).

I think my first real date was when I was 13. I’m not quite sure, though. I do know that my first boyfriend just ran his first marathon and completely annihilated my PR. Now I need to train for another one!

Reply

I LOVE cherry candy!!!! And gummy candies are my greatest weakness, but I think that after a certain size, they become unappetizing. That snake looks gross.

Biked for 45 minutes on the stationary bike this morning. Lame. I’m getting tired of stationary exercise.

Reply

Workout today is a ten mile tempo run. My marathon is a month from today, freak out!

I have snacks with me at all times. I eat about every three hours and if I don’t have a snack I start to feel sickly. I guess I just have my body trained!

Your posts seriously always put a smile on my face! :)

Reply

I almost always have a “in case of emergency” snack in my purse :)

Reply

Those double date pictures put a huge smile on my face! So cute! It was like the best day ever when Everybody Loves Raymond showed up on my Netflix. I’m going to run 2 miles on my lunch break today.

Reply

Brooke looks like she’s having lots of fun on her double date! Too cute!

Btw, thank you for sharing the giant gummy snake! I now know what to get my boyfriend for Christmas! :)

Janae, I am a snackaholic!!! I keep snacks in my bag, I have a drawer at work dedicated to snacks, and keep a “snack basket” in my car. Everyone knows if they have a snack attack to come to me. My kids don’t like driving in my husbands car because they know if they get hungry there will not be any snacks. You never know when a random snow storm or flat tire may keep you out for longer than an hour : )

Reply

Not sure about the date.
I am going to walk/run today.
And yes, I usually have a granola bar or something with me, just in case i break down or zombies attack.

I don’t usually keep snacks in my car, but I would totally keep that gummy python in my cars–in case of emergencies, of course!

My first real date I was only fourteen years, 4 months old. Way too young! I have an almost 15 year old daughter that is not allowed to date yet. Most of her friends do though. Ugh. My first date was with a new driver/16 year old with a brand new Trans Am! We went to the Bon Jovi – Slippery When Wet concert.

I almost always have a piece of fresh fruit with me and or a snack bar.

Reply

I think I was 15, we went to a corn maze! I remember being annoyed since I had dressed up nice and he took me there – he had not told me where we were going.
I always have snack in my desk drawer at work, and usually some almonds in my purse.
It is a rest day today for me :)

Reply

First thing first….What did you use to eat the PB?!?! :) I always carry a Caramel Nut Brownie Luna Bar in my purse…Chocolate/Caramel ‘candy bar’ + 8g of Protein….Best. ‘Healthy’ Candy Bar. Ever.

Can I count my first date from 1st grade with my Boy BFF to go ice skating? I still remember it like it was yesterday, instead of 25 yrs ago!

Reply

My first date was in 9th grade, I was 14 years old and it was a double date! My best friend and I had so much fun getting ready, I remember it so well. It was really a date for her, since she really liked her date and I suppose we weren’t allowed to go out on a one-on-one date. My date was cute, but he made it clear that he was just there to watch the movie and that he had no interest in me. We watched a movie and then walked around a shopping plaza until our parents came to pick us up!

The gummy python is just hilarious…

I love all of the pics of Brooke! Keep ’em comin!

I actually ran today for the first time in a week post marathon! Felt amazing!!

Reply

So I always have a snack when that hunger strikes, I actually keep a recycled pill bottle in my purse filled with almonds. It’s saved me from a bag of chips at the gas station many times!

Reply

I think it’s hilarious that you keep peanut butter in your car! I was 16 when I went on my first car date. He was a senior, and I couldn’t believe he wanted to take a pesky sophomore out!

Reply

So exciting Brooke first date!! Wondering if she’s thinking “hey dude where are my flowers?” heh heh .Its sad but I can’t really remember my first date but if he had brought me a 26 pd gummy worm you mentioned, I probably would have married him on the spot LOL

I had a good but tough stepmill workout yesterday so taking it a bit easier today. Spin and upper body workout. Now that i’m 23 weeks preggo snacking is a constant for me so I always have trail mix (mostly raisins), fruit, and cereal on hand when out and about.

have a great thursday…we’re getting a dumping of snow!!

Reply

Brooke was born in the same hospital that I was! My little long lost twin! I love it :)

Reply

I was a freshman in high school when I went on my first “date.” It was with another boy in my grade and we had barely said 2 words to each other! We have a small movie theater in my town hall (for $2!!) so we went there with a group of friends (so I guess it really wasn’t a date at all!) When my parents were giving me dinner before I left, I noticed that EVERYTHING they made had tons of garlic in it! Then I realized they were trying to sabotage my date! Haha it’s so funny now that I look back on that memory.

Reply

gummy python is NASTY, but definitely a conversation starter! ;-)

The picture of Brooke and her boyfriend in their strollers made me crack up. Fast forward 16 years, and it’s the two of them eyeing each other across the center console.. HAHAHAHAHA!

Reply

I love H&M great prices and good stuff.

Today I work abs and extra cardio.

That gummy is huge!!!!!

Reply

I had my first real date when I was 15 and we went to see While You Were Sleeping and had dessert at a local restaurant nearby. He had really sweaty hands and that is what stood out to me the most about that night. We are still friends today. Today’s workout calls for a tempo run. Since I have three little kids, we always have snacks in the diaper bag or in the car.

Reply

I always keep clif bars and fruit snacks in my car and purse!

Oh my gosh, I just discovered Everybody Loves Raymond about a month ago…and LOVE it! So hilarious!

Have a great day, Janae!

Reply

i love brooke’s shy expression when she is looking at him from the side.

also, i agree…cherry candy is awful.

Reply

Don’t tell me you don’t love cherry flavoured Tootsie Pops & Jolly Ranchers!! Yuuuum!

Reply

No snacks in my car, but snacks in my purse at all times (which is in my car the majority of the time that I am in it).

Current snacks in purse:
one box of Coffee Ginger Chews
one snack sized bag of graham crackers
half a bag of dried apricots
ziplock baggie full of cranberries and pistachios
one wild cherry lifesaver (individually wrapped)** people do like cherry candy
one peppermint wedding mint (individually wrapped)
two Tulsi teabags (do those count as snacks? they are in the snack pocket of my purse….)

Reply

ahhhh 4 adorable little babies!!

Reply

Haha I’m with Billy, I would definitely choose Cherry. That thing has enough a lories to feed me for almost 25 days! Although I think I’d be very sick and hungry after 25 days of that

Reply

That snake is crazy big!! I wonder how long it would take the average person to eat it all by themself?

Reply

I think I was 16 when I went on my first date. It was to the junior prom. It was weird. But come to think of it, I could probably say that about every first date I had with someone. Maybe it is me haha.

I got to run today!! Not far, but it is another step in the right direction.

Tell Billy I would also choose the cherry. The green apple in the blue one sounds gross, and the red one looks fierce.

My workout today is rest! I ran my second half marathon on Saturday (Monumental Half Marathon in Indianapolis)! It was such a great day! I ran a PR at 1:51.24!!! I was pumped! My first I ran in 1:58, so I was VERY happy with my run! I also went from a 9:01 pace to an 8:30 pace!! I felt so strong and happy the whole race! I loved it! I am continuing to train and plan to run a marathon in March- my first! :) I’m stoked! The marathon is in CA- Napa Valley Marathon in Calistoga, CA!

Your runs this week have been making me jealous! hehe I am trying to do the good thing and let my body rest. ;) Get it girl!

Reply

Brooke is just so precious – keep taking too many pictures! :) Yes to always have snacks on hand! When I get hungry it is not pretty.

I remember begging my mom to take me to see Aladdin when I was in 2nd grade. My best friend was a boy, and he was allowed to come with me. We somehow convined my mom that we should sit in the 2-seaters and she sat behind us. Does that count as a date???

Reply

I’m loving all of the strollers next to each other. Super cute. My first legit date was a group movie date in high school. It was really awkward and so funny to look back on.

Reply

I finally got around to doing hill repeats yesterday. I’ll probably do some kind of tempo workout on the treadmill today.
WHOA that party python!!! I guess people have to fork-and-knife it?
And I almost always have a granola bar in my purse (and some hard candies or something in my car).

Reply

I am going to try to get in 5 miles after work today, before it gets dark…silly daylight Savings!
When I was a nanny (and even now) I always kept a Costco box of packaged Bunny crackers in my trunk, along with bottled water. Having easy snacks available for hungry kids saved me from many a meltdown!

Reply

I was 12 on my first date and we went to the movies. When we got to the cash, the cashier asked for my ID to prove I was under 13 (for the child discount), but I didn’t have any! What kid carries an official ID when they’re 12??
Anyways, I had to pay adult fare and my date who was also 12 paid kid fare… She must have thought I was his big sister! haha

Reply

HAHA. Love the double date. Very cute.

And yes, I HATE cherry flavored anything. YUCK.

Brooke is adorbs.

Reply

Brooke and her baby boyfriend are so cute!!

I actually just bought myself a cardigan with elbow patches last week! I love love love it. I told my hubby I feel like a little old man :)

Reply

Brooke is too cute! She looks a little unsure of her date :)

My first ‘real’ date was when I was 17 and I couldnt’ afford to go to prom so he took me to play pool and then back to his house to watch Men in Black which was already way old by then. I thought I was the coolest thing ever.

I used to keep Swedish Fish in my car but they never lasted too long as an emergency snack because I’d just eat them every time I saw them.

Reply

ahhhh this double-date is too cute!!!
Brooke is so lucky to be growing up with lots of little friends her age!
I can’t wait until she is running :)
loveeee u J!
xoxo!

Reply

So cool that Brooke has so many friends her age and that you are friends with their mommas!

Reply

Brooke and her date are too cute!!!

And I LOVE sweaters with elbow patches. I had an awkward thing a few years back though where the sweater shrunk and the elbow pads didn’t hit at my elbows. I still wore it, though. I might have looked strange, but I refuse to waste clothes!

Reply

Awww Brooke is too cute. One day she just going to have to meet my new little half brother Ethan. I really think they’d hit it off ;)

I have a slight obsession with PB. Keeping a jar in your car is ingenious really and I’m probably definitely going to start doing that.

My workout today will be a bike ride and yoga sculpt.

Also, I looove elbow patches and have two sweaters from H&M with elbow patches.

Reply

Ummm… forget your questions. Can we talk about that gummy snake? WT-??? That’s soooo weird! And really gross. It’s probably heavy… and I bet it feels even grosser than a real snake. (I accidentally typed “snack” instead of “snake” and found it hilariously ironic. LOL)

Reply

Workout today is Hot yoga! And I cannot wait :)

LOVE, the picture of the babies together! Super cute. And huge congrats to Brooke on rolling over!!

If my husband asked to take me to lulu lemon I would be so excited. Wish I had your willpower. I will not admit how many items or how much I secretly spend a MONTh lol. Your daughter is absolutely adorable. Look forward to pictures of her on your blog. Workout was a power walk today. Tomorrow 7 km run and tabatha workout.

Brooke is already stealing all the boys hearts!!!

Lets each get one of the flavors and try out both. And share :-)
My workout today was Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred level 1 day 1 and a 2 mile run. It was a glorious sweaty afternoon. Now I want to reward myself with that giant gummy so lets order one!

My husband now officially wants that snake.

My first date was when I was 16. We went to a movie and Steak N Shake. Haha. I only went on 1 date with that fella!
I did a Bodyrock workout this morning before work! 12 HARD min and you call it a day! Sweating buckets!
