HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESSIE!!!!

Photo 1 1

Yesterday I got to hang out with one of my besties that I met during college that now lives out here (secretly I think the only reason she moved to N. Cali 1.5 years before we did was because she predicted that we would move here eventually for law school).   I brought her a Sprinkles cupcake.  It was the first time I have ever been to Sprinkles and it was beautiful.  She shared her red velvet cupcake with me and holy cow it was good and I think the frosting alone gave me 3 cavities.

I invited two other couples over to have dinner last night and somehow the only thing that I ended up doing was opening a can of biscuits and putting them in the oven.  Billy made the salmon (using his Sous Vide which cooks things to perfection) and our friends brought everything else!  It worked out quite nicely.

The star of the salmon was this sauce.  Try it.  You will love it.  I loved it so much I might even put a little of it on my FMW.

My cute friend Katie brought my FAVORITE DESSERT.

She made it with cookies and creme ice cream instead of mint chocolate chip and I think I like it better this way!  Added bonus was the chocolate shavings on top.

We hung out and talked about some of the crazy cases that Billy is reading about in law school, watched The Office and at 11 when everyone left we still had a baby wanting to party.  Brooke slept a total of 2 hours throughout the entire day yesterday and finally went to bed at 11:30.  Is that normal?

Hopefully we all sleep in until 10 and stay in our pajamas until 5.

It’s my birthday too!! I have never had sprinkles but have been dying to try it. We have the cutest shop by us called duck and bunny and they have my all time favorite cupcake: banana cake filled with Nutella with a banana cream cheese frosting and Nutella drizzle. It’s heaven.

I had salmon for dinner last night and used the trader joes island soyaki sauce. It’s so much better than the normal kind so if you see it definitely get it! Brooke is gettin so big it’s crazy!!

I had salmon the other day, love it! I went to bed wayyyyy past my bed time last night (1am!) and am paying for it this morning. You guys are such an adorable family. And I love how Brooke’s mouth is always open! Too cute :)

With newborns and sleep it seems Nearly anything goes. My little guy is 4 mo now and sleeping through the night. When he was 2 months he was still up every couple hours. The first 3 months I was surprised by how he would muchhe was awake. He was pretty much always awake and eating.

Happy birthday to your bestie :)! That cupcake looks gooood! I know this sounds terrible but my absolute favorite frosting is straight out of a Betty Crocker tub!

There is a cupcake place near me (well my hometown, there are no cupcake places in my college town! Sad day). Called the Cupcake Shoppe and their cupcakes are sooo good because they have just as much frosting as cake. You pretty much have to eat it with a fork because it’s so tall!

Salmon, and i went to bed at ten, up at four. Cute pic of you three!

Sprinkles cupcakes are everything they are cracked up to be. Have you ever been to their vending machine?? Definitely love soyaki :)

I love that photo of you three. Last night I was up way too late, I think I finally went to bed around 4 am.

I love salmon but I’ve never cooked it at home–something about it intimidates me!

That cupcake looks so good! P.S. There can never be too many pictures of Brooke…just sayin’ :)

I love how every picture of Brooke she looks so happy:)
We have a cupcake stores around town, Crave Cupcakes..mmmmm so good. They have Thanksgiving speacial cupcake this weekend which will be fun to try (i’m in Canada, Canadian thanksgiving)

My husband cooks a mean Tilapia on the bbq…we try to have it every week

I went to Sprinkles in Chicago for the first time this past May. The cupcakes were SO good! I think I had a vanilla and chocolate one, and tried the salted caramel. I think that was my fav ;)

I live in Maryland and we have this place called Georgetown Cupcake. Absolutley To. Die. For. One of my friends from highschool works for them in HR and hooks me up every now and then…makes my day every time. I think my favorite is chocolate cake with PB frosting…I want one now.

I had salmon for lunch and dinner yesterday. Think I’m set on my fish quota for the week.

Went to bed pretty early last night. Boyfriend works early on Saturdays, so we usually hag out for a bit and then I come home and crash around 10:00pm.

Brooke looks so cute wrapped up like that…like a Glow worm : )

We love that soyaki sauce- it’s awesome as a dipping sauce for dumplings [TJ’s frozen chicken dumplings ROCK] or fried rice :D

P.S. I want that ice cream cake… pie?!

Lovely pic of you three :-) happy times! x x x

I have been craving salmon all week and then you post this picture along with a picture of a Sprinkles cupcake?! How rude! I am convincing my mom to make Salmon tomorrow for dinner.

Sprinkles cupcakes really are the best. Whenever we go visit my brother in AZ we get some, or my mom had him bring 4 dozen, FOUR DOZEN last time he came up here. I am sure the people in the airport thought he was crazy. However, this is completely normal for my family. Much better than Sweet Tooth Fairy. One Sweet Slice in South Jordan is pretty good and Lucy’s in Ogden is good too, but Sprinkles are the best.

Babies like to keep you on their toes with their scheduling. Sleeping 2 hours every day would definitely not be normal. But doing it every so often, totally is, unfortunately. And she looks pretty darn happy, if you ask me, so I think you are doing swell.

I stayed up until 1:30AM. Boo. Hitched a ride back to my parentals with my dad after the BYU game cause I am going out with some friends for breakfast in Ogden and we didn’t want to take 2 cars up North. AGAIN. Leaving for breakfast now. All you can eat French toast at Kneaders. Yessss.

Totally off subject of this post, but every since I started following your blog, you, Billy and Brooke have been popping up in my dreams! Last night, you guys were coming to live with us and I was so excited that I was going to have someone to share my passion of food with! And of course squeeze sweet Brooke!!:) Weird, I know! But I had to share!!

Reply

Brooke knows how to take a picture, not sure what you and Billy are doing ;)

That is the cutest picture ~ ofcourse of the three of you not your favorite dessert :)

The last fish I had was some cod that I baked at 350 & sprinkled with lemon pepper. The fish is from costco. We are trying to incorporate more fish but it is a struggle for me.

Usually when my husband works (he works 24 hour shifts as a paramedic/fireman) I have a hard time going to sleep so I didnt make to bed until midnight – eeeccckk…very tired today.

We went to bed late last night, because we had a wedding. ONe of the guys at our table was an amazing tri-athlete. When we talked about love of running, he told me how he even loves the treadmill and has run a number of marathons on it. That is when I referred to you as my friend, even though we have never met, and told him about your TM marathon.

Have a great Saturday, friend. :)

I love every picture of Brooke but this one is my favorite :)

Okay, that picture…my heart has completely melted

Ha! We just slept in until 10 am. :-) Hope you did too.

I swear, you have the cutest happiest baby ever.

We have Sugarbelle’s here in Connecticut. Mmmmm…cupcakes.

I’m not a big cupcake fan, but oh dear do I LOVE sprinkles! It’s my mom’s and my guilty pleasure to go there after shopping at Stanford. We’ve tried a few flavors, but every time decide that red velvet is the best – by far. I tried Crumbs in NYC this summer and thought it was too dry compared to sprinkles. and Brooke is sooo happy, it’s darling!

Reply

hahahah omg that last picture is amazing! so funny. You guys are the cutest little family ever!

I seriously think I’m going to make cupcakes today…no joke. Mine are going to be chocolate with a vanilla-cinnamon icing!!

I went to bed around 11pm last night. The husband had to be up at 5:30am for a golf tourney today so I didn’t want to party too hard and all last night ;) haha

Reply

I love the family portrait!

Sprinkles is so good, I especially love their cinnamon and sugar coated one yum!

Reply

Ooooh I want a cupcake so badly! I’ve never had a Sprinkles cupcake before but Bridget has them all the time on the Girls Next Door and I know I would love them!! I’m a huuuge lover of cupcakes :)

The last fish I had was fish & chips (maybe haddock?) it was delicious, instead of being deep fried it was bread in whole grain bread crumbs and herbs then pan fried. It was so good! I live in Atlantic Canada so we eat a lot of seafood :)

I went to bed at midnight last night.. I keep saying I’m going to start going to bed earlier but I work late most evenings and you need time to unwind, run and hang out with my pup and bf so it’s hard!!

Reply

And that would be my new favorite family photo :)

Reply

I’ve never had a Sprinkles cupcake, but there’s a shop here called Fuss which I absolutely love. They make a cupcake called ‘Soulmate’ which I would basically marry if I could. It’s a chocolate cupcake infused with buttercream frosting, and then the whole thing is dipped in chocolate ganache… it makes me weak in the knees!

Reply

I’ve never had a Sprinkles cupcake. I bet they are amazing! I haven’t had a chance to find the best cupcakes here, yet. And my waistline is pretty happy about that!

No fish for me.

Last night I was in bed at 11:00 PM and then quit reading around 11:30 PM. Got to sleep in until 8:00 AM!

Reply

Yes! I have been to Sprinkles! I have had the Red Velvet and the Chai one! The Chai was my favorite. But they only have it on Friday! Boo, and I have to drive really far to go there. I don’t know of any other good cupcake places. Gives me a GREAT excuse to make my own. And you can’t make just one, you have to make a dozen.. therefore giving me the perfect excuse to have 2!

I don’t eat fish.

I went to bed super early (for me) 10 o’clock because I had a RACE this morning! (:

Reply

Sprinkles, red velvet is so delicious! The carrot cake one is pretty good too. They’re all good, it’s sugar! haha

Reply

I had a Sprinkles cupcake in Chicago, but it was sadly a bit disappointing. My husband got the red velvet and it was really good, but my chocolate one wasn’t so good. I think maybe if I had gone to the original Sprinkles shop, it would have been better! ;)

Reply

I’ve never tried the regular Soyaki, but I frequently use TJ’s Island Soyaki Sauce! They’re probably really similar…and it’s sooo good!! I NEED to try it on salmon. That last picture of you three is so adorable :)

Reply

All this time I thought you were exaggerating about Brooke’s late night energy…now I believe- look at that party animal face!

Reply

Spencer was drooling over your cake. DELISH! And, I can’t get over how adorable your family is–Brooke seems to be engaging more and more–happy baby!! Hugs! P.s. I bought TJ’s Champagne Pear Vinaigrette and thought of you!

Reply

I live near the La Jolla Sprinkles and sadly I go there way too much, lol! I love love love the salty caramel. It’s my all time favorite anything right now! They only have it during certain months and I am counting down the days until it comes back in November. And running extra to save up the calories!

Reply

Is there a sprinkles in NorCal? This is exciting!!!! And I LOVE the photo of you three at the bottom!!

Good luck tomorrow! So excited for you.

Reply

Waaaaa I wish I could hang out with you and Jess! I’m jealous.

I can’t believe you never had Sprinkles before!! I hope you were not disappointed. They are magical. Even better than Psycho Doughnuts, which I have never had, but Sprinkles has to be better.

Reply

I’ve never had Sprinkles either. I’m scared I would want one every day. :) are you running Nike Women’s Half next weekend?

Reply

BTWe don’t have a single cupcake or froyo shop where I live!! But we do have a smoothie shp that makes chocolate strawberry cupcakes, they’re awesome.

Reply

Thanks so much for that smile! Brooke is a cutie – her picture alone is enough to make me crack a smile! Yum to the cupcake. The last fish I had was…lots – I had a marinara mix last night.

Reply

That last picture is so cute! Brooke looks the most awake of the three of you. :). Hope she sleeps in for you this morning!

I worked the overnight shift last night, so technically I still haven’t gone to bed … I’ll probably get to sleep at around 9ish am and will be up at 1:15 to make a 2pm running date — 20km today (so around 12 miles), but I don’t think we’re planning on pushing it too much. It’s more just to get the mileage under our belts.
Cupcakes. Ohmygoodness don’t even get me started!! :) They are my ABSOLUTE favourite food. We don’t have Sprinkles cupcakes up here in Canada; however, if I had to pick that infamous “last meal” it would be a cupcake from the Thimble Cakes bakery here in my city. Baked daily — gluten-free, vegan, and sugar-free (blasphemy/oxymoron to have a sugar-free cupcake, I know, but they’re for the diabetics and are definitely NOT diet) — flavour rotation and they’re actually like small bites of heaven wrapped in silk and make me feel as though I’m four and have found a puppy under the Christmas tree from Santa. They’re just that heart-warming … I think I might just dream about them all day!!

Love, love, love Sprinkles cupcakes and the red velvet is my favorite! Sounds like Brooke doesn’t want to miss out on anything. ;)

Reply

I loooove Sprinkles cupcakes!! Their red velvet and peanut butter chocolate are my two favorites. It’s been way too long since I’ve had one though… I need to get to AZ or CA and have one pronto.

Aaand I LOVE that last photo of you three! Brooke’s little face is priceless!

Sprinkles. The Dark Chocolate, Cinnamon Sugar or ANY of the ones with PB.
I don’t eat fish. Unless you want to count shrimp.
I was TIRED last night and in bed by about 930. Now I am debating a run.

I went to Sprinkles when I was in LA a few years ago, but I don’t remember what flavors I tried. I do remember they were delicious, though.
