Pace Charts and Tangents.

I am a numbers person.  I love figuring out splits, times, mph etc and during a race (not one that I am doing just for fun) I am probably thinking about my running numbers 90% of the time.  I found an awesome pace chart HERE through Running Times.    There are plenty of pace charts out there but they usually only show mile times for every 10-15 seconds, I like this one because it shows the times for EACH second from a 5 minute mile to a 16 minute mile.

I get all nerdy and like to look at where I currently am with my training runs and what that translates to be in terms of different distances.  I really love pace charts to look at my GOAL times and see what it takes each mile to get to that goal.

————————————–

1.  Remember how I went to target yesterday to buy ONE thing and set a goal to leave with only one thing.  The one thing I went for was $6.99 and I left spending $33.19.  Dang it.

2.  Billy found a new word game for us to play all day long on the iPhone.  It is called Letterpress and it is beyond addicting.  Please note that I am blue and Billy is red and that I am currently winning.

3.  Brooke has been sleeping a lot better the last few days and she is only getting up once in 9-10 hour stretch.  I feel like a million bucks.

I get extremely excited for morning time because it is my favorite thing in the world to get her dressed and ready for the day while I stay in my pajamas until 3 pm.

4.  My back is slowly but surely feeling a little bit better so I decided to try out the stationary bike for 20 minutes this morning.  My body has been depleted of endorphins for the last 8 days and so I really needed to jump on that beautiful bike today.  My back felt the same as it did before while I was using the bike and after so maybe I will be hanging out on that beautify for the next little while in order to have some sweat in my life.

5.  I am going to Yogurtland with some friends today and I have already chosen my flavors and toppings in my head because I am that excited.  When I searched Yogurtland in the search box on my blog I was embarrassed to see how many posts came up with bowls of ginormous bowls of joy.

6.   3 words.  Best snack ever.

Sadly I can’t remember the last time I went to Target… There isn’t one very close to me so I have to make a big trip out of going and it would take at least 2 hours… But whenever I go home to KC I always go because I can just drive there!

I love avocado! That letterpress game looks fun! Hope your back is totally better soon!

Wow. the last thing at Target that I bought. . . . An oversized t-shirt with an old fashioned dumbo on the front. And that was at least over a month ago. And yes, the Dumbo tshirt was not on my list. neither was the pink dress. whoops.

I haven’t run in a week :( Though I did do a stationary bike last week!

I have to get at least 8 hours of sleep or I am a WalkingZombie for the rest of the day. I dunno how I’m going to do it when I have a baby. Eeep.

I have to look into the Letterpress business. It might be something Eric and I can play with. :) Have fun at Yogurtland!!

Sending your back some healing vibes. <3

Last thing from Target- hmm I go there wayy too often. I went last weekend for some groceries, and halloween candy for the kids tomorrow!

Fave snack right now is pumpin chocolate chip bars I made.

Yay about your back! That’s awesome news. Any sweat is good sweat!
My husband is amazing. This summer when we were driving home for 18 hours straight, he let me stop at Target for a full hour to get my shopping in!!!
I left with mint Oreos (why don’t they sell these in Canada?!), a dress, a skirt, a scarf, and cereal.

Target: bread

favorite snack: roasted pumpkin seed

sleep: i require at least 7hrs.

I am actually on my way to Target after the kids finish their snacks so I can exchange a shirt that I got for Anna’s costume. She needs a smaller size. But of course I went in to get that shirt last time and came out with it, the Taylor Swift CD for my niece’s birthday, some leggins, and some UNREAL candy. <— Have you heard of it before? It is awesome. Probably similar stuff to what you would get at a TJ, but since we don't have those nearby, I was excited to hear Target would be selling them.

Yay for more sleep at night! When they start sleeping more, it makes ALL the difference in the world. I hope she continues to do well in that department. I wish I got 7-8 hours of sleep at night. I always plan on that. And then I get 5.5-6hrs. A night owl for a husband and early gym mornings will do that.

There are too many snacks to choose from to be the best snack. That is like picking your favorite movie. I can have one for each genre, but not sure I could ever pick one overall winner. Have so much fun at Yogurtland! I hope the have all the stuff you have been dreaming up in your head. I hate when I have been thinking about something I want and get my hopes up and then they don't have it! Eat an extra 10 oz or so for me :)

I haven’t been to a Target in a long time. We don’t have one in town and when I go South to the town with all the shopping I would rather spend my time in TJ Maxx. I’ve been eating protein bars for snacks lately. But, I love avocado in anything. Shouldn’t Billy be studying instead of playing games?

Target hmmm What didn’t I buy??;) but this time a dress for a wedding.
Snack?? oh gosh. I love trail mix or candy corn and peanuts!
And probs like 5 hours a night of sleep- terrible, I know!

I just bought gingerbread coffee k-cups at Target! Yum!

My go-to snack lately is honeycrisp apple slices and peanut butter. Yum again!

I just got back from Target and I bought candy for kids instead of myself. I’m trying to give up candy and its hard for me to talk about :)

I thought this title said Pop Tarts and Tangents. I won’t lie I was a bit disappointed when I realized my mistake.

I love target, I can never go there without buying something. Last thing I bought was chocolate and lip gloss.
I love the pumpkin in the background of the delicious avocado picture.

My mom & I went to Target today… for only 2 things but ended up spending $40. Among other things, the most important things we got were ingredients for RICE CRISPY TREATS! :)

My favorite snack would have to be yogurt & granola OR kettle corn!

I have been getting between 7-9 hours of sleep lately.

Have a good rest of your week!!

Reply

Tehe I totally know exactly what froyo flavors I am getting before I go too (not that I still don’t have to sample every single flavor of course)

Yey for sleeping more, hope that helps you heal!

You can’t EVER go in to Target and buy just one thing. Last thing I bought there was those hooks that stick on the wall and come off without damage.
Best snack…..fruit. Or animal crackers.
8 hours sleep. Less is just not an option. But it is never 8 straight hours. I always wake up at least once.

Gahhh I can’t get over Brooke – such a cutie she is! And yes, avocados really are the perfect snack. I just had half of one smashed on top of wheat toast and sprinkled with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. It’s SO good! I’ve been sleeping about 8-9 hours each night lately thanks to the little babe inside of me… He/she wears me out already! ;)

I agree, avocados are the best snack ever. I’ve been eating them lately with cucumbers, tomatoes and cottage cheese with my lunch. So creamy and good. Last time I went to Target I got earbuds, socks, mascara and a tank. Pretty sure I went in there for laundry detergent. FAIL.

Reply

– A set of sheets
– Vanilla greek yogurt + slices apples + pumpkin pie spice + nut butter
– I’m unemployed, so I get 8-9/night. Actually, regardless of my employment status I get near 8 always. I like my sleep.

I’m glad your back is getting better!

Aww and how great that Brooke is sleeping well. (that shirt is so cute on her!)

Sleep? Sleep and I have never got along. I struggle a heck of a lot with it. So seriously, I’m probably running on 4hours-ish a night. It’s baaaad.

I’m glad you were able to work out!

I have a Target both close to my work and home, which is very dangerous! Especially when there’s a holiday coming up, I love the seasonal items!!

Yuummmm avocados are definitely the best. snack. ever! And we just went to Target yesterday, but were boring and just got some air freshener (husband found a good deal!!) soooo, yeah. I was surprised/proud of my restraint! ;)

Reply

I’m glad to hear you were able to get in a workout today – I hope you feel completely better really soon! The last thing I bought at target was 4 boxes of FMW the day they were recalled. Such bad timing!

Reply

i last bought clif bars lol they have awesome flavors when you just need a few!!

best snack ever….my macadamia clif bar, yeah i love clif bars way too much…

7-8 :) winning!!

I love numbers and pace charts! It’s so helpful to see exactly what you have to hit to be successful so you know what is and isn’t realistic.
Glad your back is feeling better!

Reply

I’m actually going to bed at normal times this week because I have a marathon on Saturday. 8 hours/night is feeling pretty good. I might just start a new habit that includes more than 4 hrs/night.

Reply

So funny story…yesterday on my lunch break at work someone asked me what I was reading on my kindle and I was a little embarrassed to admit I was staring at a pace chart…again. Obsessed!

Reply

I usually get about 8 hours of sleep.
Glad you were able to at least sweat it out for 20 minutes! Take it slowly and I hope it heals up soon!

I love this blog always motivating!
The last target purchase was not for me :-(my
Youngest boy redeemed gift cards and bought
Toys, best snack is Nutella, specifically a spoonful
With peanut butter :-)
Sleep? Ha! at night I’m lucky if I get
6hrs but now that I have go to gym in the am
I have to get 8-9!!

Reply

Your poor back! :-(( I really hope you are back to your workouts asap. I really think I would DIE going w/o a good sweat for so long. You are a stronger person than me! I really don’t shop at Target that often even though there are 2 less than 10 min from my house. PB is the best snack ever!! Smooth PB ;-)

Reply

Target gets me EVERY time. It’s such a fun store to shop in!

Reply

Ugh…..Target. Enough said. $135 later or thereabouts ….waaaaay too much to mention. But the one thing that sticks out in my mind (my fave in the mix) was a pair of leopard print booties. Gosh I love them!!!
Best snack ever-Planters Nut-rition cinnamon granola raisin nut spread!!!! If you haven’t tried this it is a must. I had a craving for crunchy PB and came home from the store with both a jar of that and the Planter’s spread. Let’s just say I bought it on Sunday evening and it is GONE! Obviously it would be fabulous on toast, a bagel etc. however it never made it off of my spoon. Honest.
I’ve been getting at least seven hours of sleep which is about two more than my norm. Have to say, I’m quite enjoying it too.
PS. Brooke puts a =) on my face everyday. Darn it she’s ca-ute!!!!

This has nothing to do with this post but I have to tell you, because of your recommendation I made that mac and cheese with ritz crackers recipe for dinner tonight. AMAZING! MMM we loved it!

Now onto your questions:
1. Last thing I bought at Target was a gift for my sister (bought it today). She just found out she is having a girl too :). And I go out of every store spending way more than I plan, its so annoying.
2. I can’t decide my best snack ever but I did make killer pumpkin chocolate chip cookies 2 days ago so that has been my favorite snack for the past 2 days!
3. Kate sleeps really good and usually only gets up 1-2 times in a 12 hour span but I always stay up late haha. So I get about 7 hours of sleep not counting getting up with her.

Reply

My fiance and I looove word games like this!! going to be looking this up!! And yes- buying only one thing at Target is definitely an impossible task :)

Reply

I am definitely a numbers person myself (physics major, track runner…it’s a nerdy combo!)

Add a bucket of salt to that avocado and you have one of my favorite snacks!

Reply

Oh boy the last thing I bought at Target was a swiffer, a few file folder and Essie nail polish. But somehow I spent over $100 so I’m guessing it was a lot more than that, I just can’t recall. Target always does that to me!

Reply

Avocados are the best snack ever! I can’t keep them in the house or I will eat them for all 3 meals and snacks.
I spent $20 at target not too long ago and I think that was my lowest total ever!

Reply

I bought a turkey hat for our 9 month old to wear in the Detroit Turkey Trot at Target :-) Check the bins by the door…I think you need one for Brooke! Best snack for me is cheeeeeese! I’ve been getting about 6.5 or 7 hours of sleep most nights. …wish I had more!

Reply

Woop! That’s great to hear about your back feeling better :D And I’m so incredibly jealous that you’re getting that much sleep! I average about 6 or 7 hours a night if I’m lucky… my brain realizes it’s 6 AM and BOOM… I’m awake. As for best snack – banana, AB, and chocolate – always and forever <3

Reply

No target in Canada but we’re heading to Palm Springs in a month so going to stock up…can’t wait!

I have lots of favorite snacks and go through phases. Right now on a cottage cheese and beets kicks…sorry not very exciting.

Brooke is such a cutie, look at that smile! Enjoy the rest of your day.

Sleep…my goal is 7 hours but sometimes my kids interfere.

Target is my favorite store in the whole world. If I had to pick just one place to shop it would be there. I don’t think I’ve made it out under $50 in my whole life, so you’re my hero.

Glad you were able to bike a bit!!

last thing i bought at target: leopard leggings, glow-in-the-dark leopard gloves, and a leopard mask. to wear while running 4 miles for my club’s halloween run! :)

Reply

I’ve been getting so much sleep lately, but I think it’s because I was so stressed out from the storm that all I want to do is sleep now.

I can’t remember the last thing I bought from target. We live so far from one that I never go.

Reply

I’ve been eating an avocado half (sometimes a whole :)) for snacks lately too–so so good!

Seriously, Target gets me every time!

I LOVE this time chart! Does anyone know of a time chart that showes EACH mile time in progression? For example if I wanted to run a half marathon in 1:45.00, I know I need to run 8:01 miles, but I guess I want a chart to do the work for me and give me each mile split! Does anyone know of something that does this?

Thanks!! :)

We went to Target on Sunday so I could get the bachelorette party invites for my sisters party next month. We are on a budget and trying not to spend extraneously, and we left with the invites and hot chocolate. I’m impressed we only got one additional item!!

I just bought (and blogged about) some leopard print flats on sale at Target! I was only going to buy them, but I can’t resist sparkly things so I got sparkly flats too (also on sale, so that makes it okay, right?!?).

Brooke is one cute kiddo. I like numbers too, I’m obsessed with the pace charts in the book Run less Run faster. Avocados are my favorite and that one looks perrrrfect.
