Theme night. My favorite. Stadium foods. Candy corn. We won.

I am REALLY into the idea of themed nights lately.  Last night’s theme was ‘pretend like you have enough money to buy tickets for the Giant’s playoff game 7 and watch the game while eating stadium foods on your couch.’   This is why I asked you on Twitter what your favorite stadium foods were.   A few of you mentioned cotton candy and I am sad to report that Target does not carry cotton candy but rest assured that I threw a tantrum at the customer service counter because WHO doesn’t sell cotton candy?

For our first course we had stadium treats like red vines, sp kids, sunflower seeds and my favorite candy corn/nut combo (not stadium food but it should be sold everywhere).

Brooke even dressed up in Giant’s colors for the occasion.

The amazing Holly sent Brooke the CUTEST tutu from her Etsy shop.  Check it out!!!  I have told you this before but Brooke really gets into watching baseball and so she was stoked to support the team with her outfit.

What would stadium themed night be without hotdogs on toasted buns?  Our friends brought over really strong (don’t come near my breath for a long time, don’t tell me I didn’t warn you) and delicious homemade garlic fries.  Garlic fries are the signature food of the Giant’s stadium.

Billy was a happy man with his baseball, fries, hotdogs and pellegreno.

Our friend’s also brought the amazing cookies for another signature Giant’s stadium food… cookie ice cream sandwiches.  We all had Snicker’s ice cream in ours but Billy wanted mint chocolate chip?

They WON and they are headed to the World’s Series.  Look forward to more posts in the next few weeks with an assortment of other stadium foods like nachos, soft pretzels, cotton candy (I WILL FIND SOME) and churros.

I don’t even know who I am anymore because I am really getting into this baseball thing and I even watched the entire game.  California is changing me.

Are you into baseball?  Any Giant’s fans?

Favorite stadium foods?

Have you ever bought anything on Etsy?  What was it?

Have you tried the candy corn and nut combo yet?  What was the last candy that you had?

Sorry can’t answer any of those questions- too busy drooling at those ice cream sandwiches :)!

Baseball is my favorite sport to watch but my team didn’t do so hot this year unfortunately!
Favorite stadium food = popcorn!

Reply

I found a huge box of individually wrapped cotton candy bags at Sam’s for a circus themed baby shower last year. They may have it at Costco near you! The tutu is beyond amazing!

Reply

So fun! We did a themed world series party a few years ago when the Phillies won. It was a blast! The food is always a major influencer in any sporting event. :)

Reply

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I LOVE Brooke’s tutu!!!
Those ice cream sandwiches look Ah-Mazing, I wouldve had one of each flavor!
I love football, and consequently breaking out all of the football foods on Sundays!

Theme night is a great idea! We love watching baseball!
I think my fave stadium foods are just the combo of junk that you don’t normally eat!

Reply

I think garlic fries & that ice cream cookie are the perfect dinner combo. I could eat that nightly :)

Reply

Tigers fan here!! My boys always like watching baseball – I love how it always puts them to sleep! :)

We did a baseball themed party for my oldest FratBoy when he turned 2. You can’t forget bubble gum as a sub for chewing tabaco and we had cupcakes with baseball lines drawn in top with licorice.

I have bought fabric off of etsy…I don’t think much otherwise though.

Reply

I’m stoked about the Giants! I went to college with Buster Posey so I like to see him do well :) stadium food themed nights are the best. At our house we do Manly Monday Night Football with beefy boy foods (chili, ribs, nachos, etc). And I love etsy. I’ve gotten a few accessories from there and have always been super happy.

Reply

ohhh thats so cool!! i <3 Buster!!!

Kmart is the only place by me that sells cotton candy.. they put it up by the slurpie machine by the registers.. awesummm…

I’m not really a big baseball fan, but I blame it on being Canadian. Things like baseball and football aren’t as big up here as they are down in the States…. we’re more hockey people :D But that doesn’t mean that I don’t love stadium food! I think that nachos are probably my favorite, but hot dogs definitely come in a close second.

Reply

I LOVE that your mom got first comment :) HRMOM is the coolest :D

and Janae I am super impressed with this idea. I actually don’t even like watching baseball but if I could have stadium food in my living room I think I could learn to love that :D

Reply

I’m loving your theme nights! That’s a great idea to make stadium food to pretend you’re there. And I love Brooke’s Tutu, I wonder if I can find one in my size…

Reply

I found cotton candy at the dollar store!

Reply

I love baseball, especially since moving to Milwaukee and getting married. My husband and this city love their Brewers. We did watch the game last night and wanted the Giants to win.

I saw a candy corn and peanut combo at the grocery store the other day. I didn’t know it came premixed like that too.

Reply

I’m telling you candy corn, nuts and m&ms…just do it! Love etsy! I’ve bought some hand stamped jewelry. I’m bitter…my Texas Rangers aren’t going this year. :(

Reply

That’s nice SF cameback and won that series, but here’s hoping they aren’t so lucky against Detroit. ;-) Go Tigers!

Reply

The last candy I ate was a few hot tamales! Yum! I love that spicy cinnamon flavor! My favorite stadium food is probably soft serve ice cream!!

Reply

I saw cotton candy at a Target in Atlanta yesterday. Granted it wasn’t a big bag of it, it was pretty small but it was in with the Halloween candy.

Reply

I love baseball, but sadly my Rangers are already done for the season!

Reply

How sad is it that it took me a good two minutes to realize you were talking about baseball Giants, not Football giants. I was like “that tutu is not the right colors!” I think I need a nap.

Reply

I never watch baseball on TV but find have been to a few live games and liked it way more than I thought I would.
Ice cream!
I bought a lot of stuff on Etsy for my wedding, my bridemaids’ gifts and my veil. Itry and stay away since its addicting!
I had Jelly Bellys last night :)

Reply

i bought a collar off of etsy for my dog! and a tote one time as a gift for someone else!!

I love the idea of a stadium food party, especially for baseball. Usually we do tailgate foods for SuperBowl, but that ‘s it. Stadium food is a whole new ballgame! (I’m such a dork) I’m a big Yankees fan, so I’m disappointed they didn’t do too well in playoffs this year. My fave generic stadium foods are soft pretzels with nacho cheese, but my favorite stadium specific foods are roasted buttery corn at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, and the purple kettle corn at Kansas State. I love etsy. I just bought my sister and I matching bracelets and bought a friend a gorgeous lace romper/ headband set for her baby girl. I have not tried the candy corn/ nut combo, but might make it for this weekend’s tailgate.

Reply

I love you but I hate this post because I live and breathe Cardinals baseball. UGGGGHHHHH the heartbreak!!!

Reply

I’m with Diana! I may have to screen your posts over the next week. The pain may be too much to bear. We may have lost, but we are CARDINAL NATION!!! We’ll get ’em next year!

Reply

how on earth do you have so many friends already? we have tried church, and so many other groups and we always seem to be on the younger side…Now im jealous of your social life :)

Reply

We’re HUGE Giants fans!!! Unfortunately wrong sport…we follow NFL football LOL. But its all played in a stadium so we can share wonderful food. I love love giant pretzels with mustard and cotton candy.

That is the cutest skirt ever that Brooke is wearing. I’ve never bought anything off Etsy but I know lots of people that do and have said they have loads of cute baby clothes and items. Online shopping time!!

Have an awesome day….i’m going to fight through the 6 inches of snow that fell last night. Looks pretty but makes traffic a pain. Toodles!

Reply

I think I have seen cotton candy at Walgreens..it is packages, not sure how yummy it would be.

Reply

I love this idea! I will be stealing it someday! I adore Brooke’s skirt she looks so cute!

Reply

mmm candy corn and peanuts, might be doing that for my carb load/taper this week ;-)

Looks like some fun!

Reply

I was born and raised in the Detroit area so I’m super excited to be watching baseball right now!!

The last candy I ate (last night) was candy corn with peanuts. What are we going to do when the Halloween candy is gone from the shelves?!?! Please tell me you can buy it year-round!

Reply

I’m a crazy obsessed sports fan. It’s kind of embarrassing. I’m actually a Reds fan (I live in Southern Ohio) and since my boys choked which resulted in losing 3 in a row to your Giants. I’m hoping they win it all because then I can say “well, we lost to the Champions”. Plus, you guys beat the Cardinals and I love anyone that beats the Cardinals! :)

P.S. Brooke couldn’t be cuter if she tried! That tutu suits her.

Reply

Looks like some tasty stadium food to me. Oh man. It almost makes me want to like baseball.

Reply

It looks like you had the best night! I want to do theme nights! So fun!
The last candy I had was jolly ranchers… I’ve been on a jolly rancher kick lately.

Reply

I LOVE her tutu! If I could be promised my first born would look just like Brooke, I would already have kids :-)

Reply

I like going to baseball games, but I’m not sure about watching one on TV. The garlic fries look great. That’s pretty fancy for stadium food.

Reply

I am now craving garlic fries. Your family is so adorable!

Reply

Love baseball. NOT a Giants fan.
Popcorn!
I have not bought anything on Etsy that I can think of. But my good friend (Taylored Fibers) spins and dies her own yarn and sells it there.
Last candy was Reese’s Pieces. I need to have a Reese’s pumpkin before they are all gone.

JANAE! I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE THE GIANTS!! I am a huge huge giants fan. I also absolutely adore SF, even though i dont live there right now, ive been to AT & Tpark (the most GORGEOUS stadium) a whole bunch of times and see the giants whenever they play teams on the east coast. i get so excited to see you are watching those games!!!!

i have a question for BILLY!!! i thought he was an angels fan?? does he like both bc the angels and the giants are in 2 different leagues (and they are both CA teams?) how does he feel about the dodgers? just curious, and yes I know its creepy but i saw on your blog you guys going to angels game and i think you said he was an angels fan :)

your night looks amazing brooke is the CUTEST!

Reply

Hi Suzie! I am most definitely an Angels fan. And a Giants fan. As long as the two don’t meet in the World Series it works out to like both teams. And since I don’t like the Dodgers I get along just fine up here in Giants Country. Did you grow up in SF?

Reply

BILLY! i am so honored you answered my question!!! i am actually a fan of 2 teams as well- the GIANTS and the YANKEES. since they are on two different leagues they don’t play each other so I totally get being a fan of both (i like the old ny teams- yankees, dodgers, and giants!) i wish i grew up in sf :( i am from the east coast, but am a bit SF-obsessed. I want to move there and may do it in a year or so- if i do I am going to hunt you guys down to hang out!

Reply

What did you do in 2002?!! That was a sad year for the Giants…

Reply

I have introduced everyone to the candy corn/peanut combo and everyone LOVES IT!! It’s been a huge hit!

I am not the biggest baseball fan…I love my football, but I don’t mind going to a baseball game!

Did they make the chocolate chip cookies themselves? They look really good! Please share the recipe.

Here in South Africa baseball is nearly non-existent. Here it is all cricket and of course rugby. I don’t really follow rugby but enjoy cricket. I love our different worlds!

Reply

HOT DOGS-best stadium food ever.

Unfortunately, most team sports make my eyes glaze over. The second somebody says “baseball” I’m just not listening anymore… funny since intramural softball was one of my favorite things I did in college…

Reply

I am a HUGE Giants fan! Best game ever!

Reply

I know nothing of these sports you are talking about.

Reply

Awww, YAY! I’m so happy that the tutu fit :) She is the perfect little model for the tutu- I wish you guys lived closer so Brooke could be my model on the website :D
GO GIANTS!! I’m so glad they are in it…if it wasn’t the Orioles, then I wanted the Giants…and the best part about it is that they are the same colors- black & orange…so it all works out!
I’m obsessed with Etsy…I have bought way more than I care to share on there- haha!!!
Again, thanks for the candy corn + peanut addiction….I cannot get enough.

Wow! Such a cute idea! Homemade garlic fries and ice cream sandwiches? AWESOME. Haha, since I live in SF, I really SHOULD be watching the Giants… but I’m just waiting for basketball season to start :P

Reply

GIANTS BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m sooo excited cant wait till tomorrow night game 1! My favorite treats to get at Giants game is Gilroy garlic fries, frozen lemonade (when it’s hot) and Ghirardelli hot chocolate with whipped cream (when it’s cold) GO GIANTS!!!

Reply

What a fun themed night!

Technically I am a Cardinals fan b/c I am from StL, but I couldn’t care less about baseball. I think it’s totally boring (sorry)! But I LOVE that tutu on Brooke!

Reply

Omg those cookie sandwiches. Must have immediately

Reply

Great game! BUt they are coming to the D and sorry, my Detroit Tigers will win! :)

Reply

Not into baseball and not into candy corn (sorry).

I love ETSY and last thing I bought was a cute little pouch for my iPad. Love it.

Reply

I love going to pro sports games. The Diamond Backs of AZ are pretty sweet…the game we went to this summer was INCREDIBLE. Then it ended with fireworks set to Star Wars music which was the icing on the cake for my 9 year old. Last candy I ate was Swedish Fish, I tried running with candy corns a few weeks ago but had to spit them out. Yuck. I don’t normally like them but the candy apple flavored ones are really good. I bought my daughters ballet teacher a dancers necklace on Etsy…was so cute.

Reply

Favorite stadium food would have to be giant soft pretzels with mustard. YUM! I’ve bought a few Christmas gifts on Etsy, an iPhone case, and I’m planning on buying LOTS of wedding stuff (veil, cake topper, possibly his wedding band).

I have yet to try your candy corn + peanut combo, but I plan on it this weekend when road tripping. I may switch up the peanuts for pretzels or do both. I’m rebellious like that!

Reply

I probably buy something from Etsy weekly. I got a ton of great stuff there for my wedding and now that I am decorating our home, I have been loving the art and the vintage items.

Reply

You have inspired me to create a stadium food night at my house. Except I will be rooting for the Tigers!! :-)

Reply

HUGE GIANTS FAN HERE! You must go to one of the games. What a fun night Janae!

Reply

LET’S GO GIANTS! There’s a 5K/10K/Half marathon every September where the finish line is on the field of AT&T Park. So you can race … and then run the bases when you finish. 100% recommended!!

Reply

WOOOOOO!!!! Yes, we are big Giants fans, and went to a restaurant with friends last night to watch it!!! It was SO exciting :) I LOVE your stadium food themed party, and definitely will be copying you during the World Series!!!

Reply

I grew up in the East Bay and have been a Giants fan my whole life! Needless to say I was very excited about last nights win. :)

Reply

Since it’s in California – does sushi count as stadium food? ;o)

Reply

Loveee baseball, especially going to the games in the summer :) I’m not big on stadium food [doesn’t agree with my stomach] but I cannot resist a big, doughy pretzel and the smell of sausage + peppers is heavenly!

I bought a bunch of things on Etsy for our wedding, love that you can customize everything!!!

Reply

Can I fly to Cali and come eat with y’all!!! YUM!!! I am obsessed with candy corn and sour patch kids right now! I stalk up weekly at super target! BLUE SOUR PATCH?!?! How? when? what?? where do I find these!!!

Reply

I still am tempted to try the candy corn/nut combo. The last time I even had candycorn I was in gradeschool and won a container of it that was half the size of me in a neighborhood block party contest.

I was so excited that I couldn’t stop eating them and decided if I took a bath that night instead of a shower I could set them on the edge and eat them while pretending I was in a spa. Then, the lot of them fell into the tub coloring my bath a pretty orange color. [I also maybe continued to eat them afterwards, just maybe though]

I ramble. Point being I think I should buy me a bag of them because obviously I loved them a lot once upon a time.

Reply

I’m into baseball for sure, but we’re in SE Michigan… lifelong Tigers fan! Gonna have to route against you on this one :)

Reply

I think Billy should wear a matching skirt! ha ha! His Giants really rolled last night–we were watching too. So, he’s not a Dodger fan? I just assumed being for SoCal he might be!

Suddenly I’m craving red vines… ;)

Reply

Love your idea for theme nights! It’s so creative! Those ice cream sandwiches look so good, I need to make one right now. Too bad I’m in class and don’t have cookies at home. And Brooke’s tutu is adorable!

Reply

Ugh – if I had known it was to cheer on the Giants, I wouldn’t have given you any stadium food suggestions… ;) Just kidding! I am from St. Louis though, so last night’s game wasn’t happy time!

Reply

Babies are so lucky, they can get away with any outfit while looking absolutely adorable!

Reply

Just bought some peanuts today at Target- because after seeing so many of your posts I can’t wait any longer to try the candy corn/peanut combo!

Reply

Yay GIANTS!! Last night was such a glorious night, can’t believe the world series starts tomorrow–can’t wait!! This post by the way looks delicious. You’ve officially made me hungry. On a separate note, my favorite SF half has been rebranded to be a RNR race (http://runrocknroll.competitor.com/san-francisco/register)
I’m so excited, I think I’m going to do it–since you are a local now I thought I would share :) Have a nice day Janae!

Reply

I am not into baseball and being that I live in Boston Red Sox territory, you get stoned if you say that out loud! Big time football (Patriots) and hockey (Bruins) fan though! I am in the middle of planning my wedding and I think it will be made up of 95% Etsy purchases. I am obsessed!

Reply

HUGE baseball fan!!! Not of the Giants, sorry! lol. It was a pretty awesome game last night though; Matt Cain was amazing. Mainly a Phillies fan but since they missed out this year I’m going for the Tigers.

Reply

that hot dog looks really good. . . don’t know why – I don’t usually eat/crave them, but now I totally want one! And those cookie ice cream sandwiches!!!

Reply

HUGE Giants fan here! What a great game!
Those ice cream sandwiches look amazing! Why have I never done that?

And I’m stealing your stadium foods idea for dinner tomorrow night! It will be perfect! The hubs will think I’m a genius!

Reply

It always makes me laugh when people in different countries call things by different names. We call cotton candy “fairy floss”. Insure hope they don’t floss teeth with that stuff!

Reply

Yum- how do you make the garlic fries? Love your blog, all the way over here in New Zealand. xx

Reply

This is a great idea, Janae! I’m a big GIANTS fan and there’s no way a World Series ticket could ever fall into my hands (that won’t stop me from wishing though). I don’t have cable so I watched half of game 7 at the gym and the other half at a restaurant in downton Mountain View. I’ll give the ballpark theme night a shot for one of the upcoming games!

Reply

I’m very happy that one of the first comments rooted for the Tigggerrrs! ;) Either way, as girls, I think the best part is the food and company anyway, :p.

Reply

ok so I know those garlic fries are probably pretty easy to make but they look AMAZING so could you please share the recipe!?! I want mine to look that good. :)
