I cannot get over how much I love this little cherry outfit on her.

The shoes might be a tad bit too big but I couldn’t resist and had to put them on.

For lunch Billy assumed that I wanted a turkey and avocado sandwich like he did.  I had actually been dreaming about my pb/jelly/banana grilled sandwich throughout church and I couldn’t wait to come home and make it.  When he realized there was only a little bit of turkey left he offered it to me and I pretended like I was making a huge sacrifice in giving him the last of the turkey…  hopefully he doesn’t read this post today and realize that I wasn’t even wanting the turkey in the first place.

I added some fruits and veggies too but the sandwich was all I really cared about.

My latest favorite dessert is frozen butterscotch chips.  I have gone through this bag way too fast.

DSC 4132

A few of you noticed how clear my personal peanut butter jar is in a previous post.  I do not waste an ounce of that stuff and practically lick the sides clean.

Yesterday on my run I was thinking about how different my running schedule is from before I had Brooke.  When I was a teacher I would wake up every morning at 5:30, run, shower and go to work.  The only thing that prevented me from running was if I chose to sleep in.  This last summer I was really busy and productive (okay, not at all) and would stay up late watching tv or hanging out with my family and then sleep in until 10 every morning and head out the door to go run after some breakfast and stalking blogs..  Now my running schedule is not a schedule at all but somehow it is working.   I base my runs off of Brooke’s naps and somedays I run at 8 and somedays I run at 1 pm but somehow it is working out really well for me, Brooke and Billy (Billy fully supports my need to run because without it I am a scary person).

How do you make running/fitness/exercise WORK IN YOUR SCHEDULE right now?!?!  Does your schedule change often or does it usually stay the same?

What is your latest little dessert that you have at home that you are loving?

Does your significant other read your blog?

-He better… I mean it isn’t like he is busy or anything at school every day!

aww that outfit is so cute! And yes the shoes area must :)

I love frozen chocolate chips.. so good! Lately i’ve been snacking on some frozen chocolate chip cookies I found in the freezer :)

I used to be super rigid about my workout schedule- Like getting up at 5:30 am to work out even on my days off. Now I’m a lot more flexible and if I can’t fit it in that day- no big deal.

I am loving peanut butter smeared on frozen bananas right now.
I love my chocolate NOT frozen. When I get the fro yo, I put the choc chips and m&ms in another cup on the side, just so that they will not not not freeze. They lose all the flavor to me when they’re frozen!

I run in the a.m but it’s dark and that I dont’ love. I try to make my long ones on the weekends so I can start later and get home later and it won’t matter because there’s no work to go to (three cheers for THAT)
My running schedule has to be every other day. If I don’t put that rest day in between, my performance suffers dramatically. Even if I feel great and like I can do it, I resist. Today is a rest day. Yesterday was five hilly miles with hill sprints (not many and not long!) on the end. Today I’m tired.
Tomorrow should be a long one but I won’t have time so it’ll be whatever it is
I am enjoying running the more fit I get…it’s sooo hard at first, or if I overtrain. Striking that perfect balance is not easy, but I’m getting better
ADORABLE child you made, there, Janae! We love seeing her grow, thanks for the blog

My schedule literally changes on a day to day basis (sometimes working day, evening, and night shifts within the same week) — so sometimes I’ll workout before work, and sometimes after. I know that for my sanity I need that 60-90min of ME time, whether to get my day started right or to brush of the stress of the shift. I like it that way though — it keeps my body guessing.
Right now, I’m all about a mix I made of sunflower and pumpkin seeds, sliced almonds, and semi-sweet chocolate chips. I dip my hands into that little bad boy whenever I pass the cupboard / whenever I make a really lame excuse to pass the cupboard.
I think my Mom read a few posts, but my Dad hasn’t read my blog at all and the verdict is still out on whether or not my brothers can read (kidding!!). I think that most of my close friends read it though, which is strange because I’ll start telling them a story and they’ll interrupt saying they already know. It’s nice though — with all my stuff out of the way, I get to listen more about their lives. :)

I go for my power walks first thing in the morning before work. That way, whatever happens in the evening (ie: hanging with the girls/boyfriend, stressful day = sitting on couch watching TV) I’ll already have my exercise finished. :)

The latest dessert that I’m obsessed with are these vegan cookies from a local grocery store. I’m not vegan but dayum these cookies are ridiculous!

Butterscotch chips?! I have never heard of them before, but wow, they sound delicious!

Brooke is such a doll!
My schedule is loosely based on my school schedule/kid’s activity schedule. I’ve done a good job this semester of getting some type of workout in every day, except Sunday, and my family thanks me for it. Working out is such a stress reliever for me.
I just threw a bag of peppermint patties in the freezer and they are delicious.

I need to get back on a real workout schedule after the marathon. Surprisingly it’s made me more lazy… I take more rest days and don’t get up as early to get my runs done, I need to get back to my workout dedication! It helps me to have an early morning workout routine

What a cute lil cherry!! Love the ‘fit!! :)
I have to admit I have pulled the whole ‘no you take it, you were first thing’ too, when I didn’t even want the food in question – lol

My dessert cravings change often but you can never go wrong wiht a chocolate chip cookie – or fro yo!!!!

Reply

The only way I get my running in is by getting up at 5am before getting kids off to school and heading to work. If it doesn’t happen then, it doesn’t happen!

I am loving Butterscotch chips right now too. I make chocolate chip cookies and use half Butterscotch half chocolate chips, yum!

I worry a lot about making things work after my baby is born. Right now I get up and work out before work, but I’m concerned about how much time it will take to nurse/pump and get the baby ready and get myself ready and drop the baby off at daycare before I go to work. Especially after a night of little sleep. I guess I’ll just have to manage my expectations.

bittersweet chocochips from the fridge. it has made my dentist happy i am sure : ) i have 4 little cavities i am getting filled in a week and a half due to this lil treat i enjoy. coming from a person with only 1 cavity growing up, im still in denial that i have 4 cavities!

it just takes time to figure out a fitness schedule after a new baby. rest is SO important right after u have a baby, so sometimes, you just have to rest instead of working out. i am addicted to sleep. but i am also addicted to endorphins! that is something i struggle with big time after my babies. but i knw my body needs rest and i have to listen to it. and i just tell myself, my kids will only be kids for so long! i will have many years to workout and run when all my kids are grown up and gone! you are such an inspiration! : )

Reply

oh man I relate to the cavities-due-to-eating-too-many-sweet-things issue! Going to the dentist tomorrow morning :(

My running schedule that works is unstructured structure. Like on school days I like to run after school, but before dinner…….but the time frame is loose. Same with long run Saturdays, before lunch is my window. Maybe Brooke’s naps are your unstructured structure.

Not dessert, but my out of the norm treat is Hint of Lime chips. I eat like dessert though, I have a handful after every meal :)

I so wish I had the capability of waking up early to go for a run but I just cannot drag myself out of bed. Otherwise that would be the perfect time for me because my days are SO varied in what I do (I’m a church youth worker and a nanny). So I just go whenever I can. In the winter that’s even harder because it gets dark so early and I don’t have a treadmill or a gym membership! Lunch times seem to be the most popular time for a run at the moment.

My latest dessert that I’m loving is leftover birthday cakes!

:)

That is too cute! I think the shoes are my favorite part :)

Reply

Right now I am running after work to take advantage of daylight savings time but I don’t know what I will do once the dark comes earlier, I guess I will try to get up and run in the morning or hit the treadmill after work.
Good job getting your run in even though you have a different schedule!

Reply

my schedule changes often, though i shuld actually set it…. i paint in stduio in after work and sometimes i go drop Lando off at doggie day camp and then pick him up after work. i have to somehow balance it all with working out/running. very hard.

i have been eating Nutella by the spoonfil our of the jar as dessert. ;)

I don’t think Eric reads my blog. id be surprised if he does.

My schedule really depends on whether I am working or not. I am a substitute teacher (hoping for full-time or at least a long-term position) and I don’t work every day. I am starting to work more now that the school year is in full swing, which makes it hard for me to get everything I want to get done done in 24 hours. My schedule definitely changes, but as long as I can get my workout in…I am happy and so is everyone else! :)

Right now, my favorite dessert is Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream or anything minty!

Yes, my husband reads my blog…he likes to know what I write about him! :)

Reply

Right now my favorite dessert is candy corn and peanuts. All thanks to you!

I’m in school, so I just smoosh running in wherever it fits every day. Unfortunately my class schedule is all over the place so I don’t have much of a running schedule.

I bought these cookies at Trader Joe’s called “Gingeroos” and they are amazing. Try them.

Reply

janae, that pic of brooke’s little feet is adorable!
my *training schedule* is zen-ish right now: i go by a) how much time i have b) has to be a distance different than the day before c) how do i feel d) where do i want to run…and out i go! and it’s very fun!

Reply

My workout schedule is constantly changing. I used to be a morning runner but now that I have my own apartment and my daughter has school I have to wait until later in the day. I try to get them in during work but sometimes I get to busy and have to do it when I get home. I have zero motivation in the afternoon but it’s really great if my daughter gets to do it with me!

Right now my dessert is Sunflower Butter and Nutella, on a banana or rice cakes. I swear, I can’t keep either in my house because they don’t last very long……

My boyfriend does not read my blog. lol. I don’t even think he remembers that I have one:-)

You must try frozen reese pieces, so yummy!
The cherry outfit is very cuute, i laughed at seeing little Brooke’s feet in her “huge” shoes.
I run most days at 8:30am during Olivia’s morning nap.. (I take her to our apartment complex gym because our stroller allow her to lay down.)and I am always able to get an hour run in :) But she won’t let me run longer, as soon as I try to re-start the tredmill (they gym tredmill only allows us 60 minute option.. so rude) she fusses, apparently I was caught trying to take advantage of her.. oh well I cant complain she does allow me the full hour even when she wakes up 45 minutes into my run.

My workout schedule pretty much changes with my kids’ schedules and right now it’s pretty few and far between. :(
My significant other pretty much only reads my blog when he’s bored.
Dessert I’m loving now is TJ’S frozen Greek yogurt with fruit.

Reply

My schedule is completely erratic. It has been for years…since I had my first kid :) Now that my youngest is in preschool part-time, I *should* have a guaranteed window of opportunity…but it never works out that way. Sometimes I run at 9:30 after I drop her off, sometimes at 11 or 12 if I have an early appointment or need to grocery shop, sometimes I time workouts to finish right before I pick my kids up at 3, sometimes I go after everyone is asleep at 8 or 9 at night (probably how it’ll play out tonight).
Latest favorite dessert…toss up between TJ’s coconut popsicles and a fistful of dark chocolate chips with a spoonful of sunflower seed butter.
My significant other cannot stand my blog. So no, he doesn’t read it.

Reply

Not a dessert, but I have NOT been able to get enough watermelon lately. I’m going through about half a day, and I’m starting to worry about what I’m going to do in the winter when I can’t get any in the stores. Where’s a place where they have watermelon year round?? I think I need to move there. But if we’re talking actual dessert, dessert, something I’ve been kind of obsessed with is adding milk to a bowl of Annie’s Chocolate & Vanilla bunny cookies and eating them like cereal. Not exactly full of vitamins and minerals, but so, SO good.

Reply

I discovered something magical the other day. I take a dark chocolate candy bar and dip it in peanut butter. It’s so tasty. It’s my new pre-run snack. Almost like a power bar, right? Protein + sugar?

Anyhow my significant other does read my blog. Good thing because I write about him a lot.

As for running, I work full time (teacher) and have two kids. I can’t get up in the a.m. and run because my husband does one of his workouts at that time (he’s a competitive triathlete). I typically run at 5:30 or 6 but sometimes it’s after the kids go to bed at 8:30.

Reply

I am a wake up early and work out person. I have a toddler…..I would never be able to get it done after work without missing out on family time. Unfortunately I just got a new teaching job and it is an HOUR away so getting up early means ridiculous 4 am workouts. I’m so over it, I cannot wait to move!

Love the outfit…adorable!

I’m a very busy wife, mom, nurse, and many other things. Working out is VERY important to me- so I squeeze it in whenver I can. It might be different every single day of the week- as I try to balance my life and my family. I plan my day the night before- and I plan my workout then. I MAKE TIME for it- if I have to get up early due to a busy day that day, then that is what I do. If I go right before dinner on one day, then that is fine. I schedule it in- just like every thing else. It is working for me. It might not be the time I WOULD LIKE TO WORK OUT- but as long as I get it in each day- I’m fine with that right now. :)

My friend got me hooked on lowfat or fat free vanilla yogurt, with some Natures Promise (or any brand that is loose/runny) peanut butter drizzled on, along with a touch of hershey’s chocolate syrup…sooooooooooooo good..and mostly good for you:)

I’m a teacher too and right now I get up at 5 on the days I run. That time really isn’t that bad and it feels so good to have my run done with before I head to a day of work!

I have to get up early and get my run in before my husband goes to work/school. I can workout at my gym anytime because they have an awesome daycare. I HATE running on the treadmill though so I really try not to sleep in on running days.

I’m really enjoying my bag of peanut butter m&m’s right now.

My husband reads my blog during his breaks at school. He says he wants to make sure I’m not telling lies about him!

When we moved to Arizona, I learned very quickly that I had to be up EARLY to beat the sun and heat. So I am up at 530 and out the door by 6. And I have managed to stick to it. In NC, I rarely got up before 7am.
Dessert is fruit and carrots. I did eat part of a milky way in Las Vegas.
My husband does NOT read my blog.

I have been really into chocolate at the moment. We had a house guest that brought us a box of fancy chocolates and I cut them all up to find out what’s inside.

My husband reads from time to time when he has time, but he probably only reads 1 out of ten posts that I put up.

I love freezing treats; they always taste even better and last longer, like Cadbury cream eggs and blueberries. I’m going to have to try chocolate chips (sorry don’t like butterscotch)

I always run/train in the morning. I’m 17 weeks preggo and mornings are when I have the most energy plus the rest of the day just gets to busy. Once our little peanut arrives I’ll have to play by ear like you are and get it in where I can. Looking forward to when he/she is old enough to join me in our jogging stroller.
Have a good evening:)

i think i love those shoe BECAUSE they are soo big! they make it even more adorable, her tiny little feet can’t even fit into a pair of shoes. :)

oh the clear PBJ’s, i still think u should run like a contest or something to see who can guess exactly how many days it takes u to lick a full jar clean. :)

and for running sked’s, it is funny that mine has evolved over the years too. i used to get annoyed if i ran later than 7am…now, my word, if someone would try to pry me out of bed at 7am i would be on angry runnerchick! lol

Reply

So I guess you can’t do oats in a jar like the rest of the blog world ;-) I clean my PB jars too!

Sometimes I wish I had a job where I worked 5 days a week with a set schedule because I could plan my life more easily and say do what you did where you ran before work. With shift work it makes things complicated cause I’m either too tired to run before/after work or if I’m doing night shift I sleep most of the day. But on my days off then I get tons of free time to do workouts/runs so it is a balance I guess. My life may look more like doing little-to-none when I’m on my working set and most-to-all when I’m on my days off :)

Sounds like you are going with the flow way better than I did after my little girl was born!! I try not to be super rigid but it was a little hard to adjust at first! I usually get up between 4-5 to get in my workout before she gets up. It’s hard but my day is just sooooo much better once it’s done and out of the way. If I don’t make it up, I try to run with her or run while she’s napping. I find the best thing for me is just not to have expectations of how many miles I want to go and just do what she allows me to!

I’ve been doing the butterscotch and white chocolate chip thing lately! And for some reason Werther’s hard candies!!

Reply

My running schedule sounds a lot like yours right now. Although, my little boy is old enough now (finally!) for the jogging stroller so it’s a little better. We usually go out for a run in the morning, but on really cool days I wait till the afternoon so he doesn’t get as cold. Long runs are always reserved for Saturdays.

As for dessert, I am loving the cake batter blondies from Gracie of Girl Meets Life. Best ever.

Yes, my boyfriend reads it. Since I’m at school (in San Francisco) five days per week, he reads it to see what I’m up to. It’s like a glorified Facebook update.

I think the shoes fit Brooke perfectly! :)

Right now I am really working hard to fit runs in… but I am doing it! :) When I started running my workouts were relatively short – though they didn’t feel that way – because I was doing 25 – 30 minute workouts with Couch to 5K. Then summer came (I teach and so does my husband) so we just pretty much ran when we wanted. Now we are both back to work, the boys are back to (different) schools and (different) activities and we are both training for our first half-marathons. YAY for you for working these runs in even with a newborn! YAY for you for working the runs in even though your husband is in school (yay for him, too!)! Keep it up! I believe it’s worth it!

Hey there!!!! It’s been too long. Your baby girl is so adorable!!!!!
A little late, but CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Great to hear that you are back running already and the scheduling is working out.
Great that Billy is so supportive, I can be a very scary person when I go without working out for 5 days (max!) too. It’s just not fun for anybody :)

Reply

It’s a crime to waste even an ounce of peanut butter! Next time try adding Greek yogurt & warm apples to your near empty jar- amazing!

Reply

You’ve got me hooked on frozen Swedish Fish!!! Gosh Darnet.

Reply

How adorable is she!!?? I would love every run to be at the same time every day, but I know that it’s not always going to be like that. If I stay up late the night before, or don’t fuel my body correctly, then it’s a no go the next morning. :) But I don’t mind running in the late afternoon either.

Reply

That outfit is so precious! Matt reads my blog occasionally…which I consider a huge deal considering how not into blogs he is haha I am currently obsessed with dark chocolate pomegranates from Costco. They are so addicting and wonderful.

“Billy fully supports my need to run because without it I am a scary person”
HILARIOUS- and so true for me too!!!

My friend just sent me a half dozen of crumbs cupcakes and I have eaten one for 5 consecutive days and it has been GLORIOUS!

Unfortunately I’m not running as much as I’d like due to Avery and working full time at home, maybe twice a week? One weeknight and definitely Saturday morning. :) maybe this will change as she fits in the bob stroller!

Favorite dessert right now are Flipz chocolate covered pretzels (sold in the candy aisle) and raisinets. And the nursing newborn is currently determining my schedule as well-that and the 2,4,6,7,&9 yr olds who are home all day bc I homeschool :) hard to get in a run before my husband leaves for work bc of the inconsistent wake time right now of the baby (anywhere between 6&8) so I have been doing evenings after he’s home before I make dinner. Then Saturdays I can feed the baby and put him back down before my long runs. Training for my first marathon right now (MCM) so it’s a little frustrating not having control over my schedule but at least it’s a nursing baby and not being pregnant still bc running pregnant is much less fun :)

Reply

Um. Wow, Janae! I never ever thought about putting chocolate baking chips in the freezer! I’m going to start this as soon as I get home. I prefer all chocolate to be cold, and Girl Scout thin mint cookies of course. Brilliant! Thanks for sharing! :-)
