A Saturday in our new life.

There have kind of been a few changes for the Billster and I in the last month and so far I kind of love it.   Here is how our Saturday went down in our new life.

After the normal morning routine of diapers, eating, gym, put on normal people clothes and an episode or two of The Hills (Billy wants me to make sure that you know he was not included in this activity) we went to Subway to use a gift card from my mom.  She knew that we might starve to death without the grocery shopping that I did every other day in her kitchen and so she hooked us up with some Subway mula.

People really think you are cool when they walk by as you are telling your husband to take a picture of you holding your gift card up in the air.

Good news.  This months special at Subway for the $5 foot long is turkey.  I have been waiting for this month for far too long and another piece of good news is that pepper jack cheese tastes amazing on a toasted turkey sub.

We hit up another mall yesterday to get my screen protection fixed on my phone.  I don’t know how I go through a new one of these each month but I think that I should go back to the flip phone I had in high school because that thing was indestructible.  It handled a drop on the sidewalk way better than my iPhone does.

We discovered a Ghirardelli outlet in the mall and they gave out samples of pumpkin spice carmel squares.  All of you pumpkin lovers would die of happiness eating this.  PS do you see how Brooke is in the brightest pink outfit ever and how she looks 100% girl…. some lady called her a HE… the nerve.  Billy had to escort me out of the store.

When we went to the mall Billy told me I could choose any treat I wanted there (he knows how to win my heart) and so after exploring every option possible I decided on Coldstone.  The funny thing is they gave me two spoons?  Did they really think I was going to share my ice cream?  I had the cookie dough ice cream that came with cookie dough, chocolate chips, caramel and fudge mixed in.  Froyo is good but let’s be honest, real ice cream is where it is at.

We all came home and crashed. Billy had to take the couch because I was making an X with my limbs on the bed and there was no longer any room for him.

Another night with an amazing family bringing us dinner.  We really got lucky with the friends we have made here.   Tomato pasta dish, salads and the most delicious rolls.  I wondered why she brought over so many rolls but once I tried them I understood because I needed at least 3 more because they were so good.

For dessert she brought over TJ oreos.

Saturdays are by far the best days of the week and I have banned billy from doing any homework except for when Brooke and I are at the gym.  The countdown until our next Saturday has already begun.

What are three things that your typical Saturday include?

What kind of cell phone do you have?

What treat would you choose at your mall?

Do you have any good gift cards right now?

I just won a $50 Visa gift card in a race yesterday. I was pretty excited about that even though it will most likely go towards juice boxes for the kiddies, lol.

Honestly I never go the mall. I wouldn’t even be able to name a snack place. Pumpkin chocolate sounds AMAZING to me. I’m one of the pumpkin obsessed bloggers :)

iPhone here for life! On my third one. My first I spilled Diet Coke on…yikes! And the second I replaced with the iPhone 4.

People never cease to amazing me … first of all, she’s clearly an adorable little girl in her pink outfit! And if you aren’t sure, say something like “What’s the baby’s name?” I have too many friends that have been upset b/c someone called their baby the wrong gender … I refuse to make that mistake!

Oh my goodness, Joe Joe’s are so good! The vanilla ones are soo addictive (well, the chocolate ones are, too…).

I have a Droid Incredible and I go through screen savers like crazy. Luckily I found somewhere on Amazon that sells really cheap packs of them so I just keep ordering more!

I tried to email you but it bounced back. Anyway, I had connected with you earlier this year about wanting to get back into running. I never really got there. But I did get puppies! Maltipoos and they are just adorable. But I digress…. I just wanted you to know that I love reading about your family every day and Brooke is simply to die for!!! I’m finally, after seven yo-yo months, getting back to the commitment of moving and getting healthy. I’ve found a schedule I’m going to follow and it feels good to be changing into some healthy habits. Your blog is so encouraging, uplifting and a bright spot in my day. Thank you for sharing yourself and being so open! When I read your blog every day, I feel like I’m visiting with a friend. Take care!

Saturdays always include a long run, and ginormous salad, and an afternoon nap.

Gift cards: right now I have starbucks and banana republic.

Absolutely love your red pants outfit.

Happy Sunday!

Our Saturdays always include a walk (run when I am running), church in the evening and share a huge bowl of ice cream (I remember to be less selfish in church and share my ice cream for a day).

Have a wonderful Sunday! And why, why, why do girls get called a ‘he’ when they are decked out in pink?! I even had Addy in a dress and someone called her a boy.

$5 turkey subs? Why didn’t I know this?! Those are my absolute favorite, so you just totally made my morning :D

My Saturdays always involve cleaning, seeing friends/family, and grocery shopping. You don’t have to tell me how exciting that is ;)

Right now I have an iPhone4, and I’m impatiently waiting for the new one to come out because I dropped m y phone a few months ago and the front screen cracked. It looks kind of BA, but I’m always afraid that the whole thing is gonna shatter and all the glass is going to fall out or something. Eep.

I’m actually really surprised… and a little bit disappointed… that you didn’t get a larger cup of ice-cream ;)

Haha me too but the small was $5.50 and I felt bad spending anymore!

My subway always includes pepper jack. :)

For the past week I have been obsessed with all things pumpkin and now I must go on a hunt for this pumpkin spice chocolate! Looks amazing!!!

P.S. Brooke is basically the best thing in the blog world- she just gets cuter and cuter!!! Hope Billy isn’t studying too hard yet :-)

Saturdays ARE the ultimate best day of the week! I’m so thankful you mentioned this month is the Turkey’s time to shine at Subway! What sub is better? :) My Saturdays always usually include my long run, a yummy lunch out, usually at an awesome place here called Counter Culture, and an evening of show-watching or a movie…or some Nintendo :)

OMG – Joe-Joes!!! A guy I used to date absolutely loved those cookies! He would buy them and then store them at my apartment becuase he was afraid he’d eat them all too quickly if they were at his place. HA! They’re delish!

When my husband and I go out for breakfast burritos, I always order the biggest one they have, and my husband orders the small one. Guess who they give the small on to when they deliver the food to the table……..

Some people are so clueless. Brooke could have had a tattoo on her forehead that says “I’m a girl” and that lady probably would have said the same thing.

Saturdays are the best! Followed closely by Sundays of course. Our Saturdays always vary but the best kind are when we get to lunge around in our PJs, drinking coffee and just playing with the babies all morning. Your coldstone looks delish! And PS: what is wrong with the woman who called her a boy? Honestly, so ridiculous. She is beautiful!

Typical Saturday – run, run to Target and dog park! 3 dogs – have to give them time to play! I have an iPhone 4 – it was my 3 newest phone that I’ve had ever since cellphones came out. I never get new phones/technology – I tend to wait. However, I’m not sure how you guys are all breaking your stuff on your phones – I’ve dropped my iPhone a billion times while running – smack in the middle of the street – and not a single crack. You need to invest in a serious bumper for your phone!! It’s an expensive piece of equipment!

Mall food? None. I don’t think our mall here is big enough for food! But when I lived outside of DC – their mall had a Cheesecake Factory? Can I pick that?!

Gift cards – I’ve got 2 Visa cards from both parents/in-laws that are going towards 2 iPads for me and the husboy to celebrate his new job and our new move!!! :)

My daughter has been called a HE on more than one occasion dressed in PINK!
I don’t understand it… (it’s usually the elderly though, so ??)

Reply

1) I hope that person was color blind.
2) I hate it when I order dessert for myself and the serve brings me 2 spoons. Really?
3) I love Subway. I love the smell inside Subway even more.

I have a gift card to Red Lobster! My fiancee and I are saving it to use after we move into our new apartment THIS WEEKEND! AHHH!!!

Reply

I always dressed my baby girl in super-girly pink clothes and bows and people STILL said “he”. DUH. LOL Think before you speak, people!

Personally I think you are super cool holding up your Subway card and I would have chosen Coldstone too. Ice cream IS where it’s at. I decided long ago that ice cream is a better after-workout choice than boring old chocolate milk.

I bought a BRAND NEW HTC One S phone YESTERDAY! I can’t believe how nice it is to have a smart phone… I also got the Defender Series Otterbox cover for it, because I need to keep it protected from myself.

A typical Saturday includes work. But this Saturday included some MUCH needed napping!!
I have a Samsung … some kind of not smart phone … that I got in May and still haven’t quite adjusted to after having a super simple flip phone for 4+ years!!

Is that strawberries with the salad? That seems a bit odd to me (I love strawberries, but have always assumed they’re for dessert/snack rather than main course).

Also, have been pigging it out on Ben and Jerry’s Half-Baked ice cream – cookie dough and cookie pieces in one ice cream! :)

As of this week, hopefully a typical Saturday will include a ballet class, trains and yummy yummy weekend food.

Omg I need to get those pumpkin caramel squares ASAP!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE TJ Oreos!

Coldstone is so freaking good! Sounds like a nice lil family day. :) I have an iPhone that’s cracked all over the front and now the back but when we went to get a new one yesterday they said hold out bc they are announcing the 5 on Wednesday and it should be out by the end of the month…so I just have to suck it up for a little while longer (I hope..you never know with apple, lol).

Reply

I always get an Auntie Anne’s pretzel when I go to the mall!! Love those things!

Reply

Saturdays for me include long run, my son’s football, and the grocery store.
I have Windows Phone 7 courtesy of my husbands Microsoft loyalty.
We just got a full on See’s store in my mall, as opposed to the kiosk, so that is my drug of choice.
I just spent mt Lululemon gift card and got two new pairs of running shorts ;)

LOL people are so ignorant sometimes. I have two boys and people always used to ask questions about them with feminine terms. She, her, blah blah blah. Even when they were toddlers and I kept their hair cut short and dressed them in very boyish clothing and shoes. Sigh.

Saturdays usually include working out, cooking dinner, hitting up the grocery store and spending time with the fam. I actually have an awesome giftcard right now. I won a custom reebok shoe giveaway on stuftmama.com. How cool is that?!?!

Reply

You should really get a SwitchEasy case for your iPhone. I used one for my 3G and now on my 4S and love it. I drop it daily and my phone still works an looks brand new. I also use Best Skins Ever for a screen protector on both my iPhone and iPad. They are amazing and must haves for any future apple products I purchase! They have yet to fail me in the 4 years I’ve used both without having to replace any of them!

I love Saturdays now because Sunday’s have been deemed “horizontal Sundays” in our house with the start of football. If I want to get in any kind of human activity with the hubz, it has to now be on Saturday. :)

Saturdays after having a kid are totally different than pre-baby. Now I do a long run in the am, starting around 5:30, then home by 8:30/9 for breakfast, getting the men in my life ready for the day, etc. A run to the second-hand store (which benefits the local hospital, win-win!) and the grocery store with the good produce, then back home for lunch, nap, and a long walk/explore/play time in the afternoon (with the baby).

I was ALL ABOUT my iphone before moving to Bermuda, but now it’s too expensive (or I’m too cheap) to have cell phone service here so I’m (GASP!) without a cell phone at the moment. I miss having a camera and the internet with me at all times though.

Treat at the mall…hmmm…either subway cookies (which, really, are so good they should be illegal), an Auntie Anne’s pretzel with honey mustard, or an original Orange Julius. No gift cards currently. :( They’re not really “gift card-y” here like they are in the states.

PS
Try a Zagg cover for your iphone. They’re kind of annoying to put on correctly (they’ll do it for you at Best Buy for, like, $10 I think) but they last FOREVER and can take a total beating.

You really have met some great friends!! And my saturdays usually include a long run, some laying around watching TV, a little reading for school and hanging out at my brother and sister-in-law’s if they aren’t too tired of me (really I just go for their dog, Molly…).

Reply

You have the cutest baby girl ever!

OMG I completely agree with you about the phone thing, I dropped my Droid out of my ifitness belt and smashed up the front it, before that I dropped my blackberry in a cup of water. I swear the flip phone was indestructible! I miss the old days of flip phones lol

Reply

I like my phone okay… it’s a Droid something. I especially like the slide out screen.
On Saturdays, there’s usually some friend coming over to play with at least one of my kids…or some friend’s house to go to in order to drop off one of my kids…and now it’s soccer season, so we have a soccer game to contend with…and someone usually wants to watch a movie and then they fight over which movie. Lucky you with the gift card!!!

Ice cream is definitely one of those things which I eat, and then ask myself why the heck I don’t do it more often! Cold Stone looks GREAT…and killer combo :)

Reply

Someone thought Brooke was a boy in that outfit??? People are crazy.

Reply

How do people think babies dressed in bright pink are boys?! I don’t understand! Maybe they have trouble with their eyes! Ridiculous.

I am in love with all things pumpkin especially this time of year. I love the pumpkin spice chocolate as well!!! It is always hard to only eat one! I am afraid if I let myself I would eat a whole bag of those things!

Reply

Ugh I’m so jealous that your $5 footlong sub is Turkey! I’m still waiting in Atlanta for that to happen!

Reply

Cookie doughn’t you want some! My fav!

Reply

Oh, and my Saturdays lately have been all about sleeping in, reading away my morning, and trying to catch a yoga class. That’s it! It’s beautiful.

Reply

Pumpkin spice chocolate?!?! What is this deliciousness? I think my new weekend plans are to hunt those suckers down.

Saturdays are always days for either “old fashion donut” from starbucks, hot cakes from mcdonalds, or donuts from dunkin. My kids… all week long have the healthy stuff in the morning for school, as well as lunch, by saturday they are just so excited to get one of these options. We always go.. somewhere…mall, museum, aquarium, downtown, etc…somewhere. We always have dinner out..at a new restaurant. If we can’t decide on a “new” one, then we end up with pizza.

I have an Iphone.

OOOh, treat at the mall…thats such a hard one, between Hagen Daaz, Cookie Co. or Auntie Ann’s cinnamon sugar pretzel bites, its really hard to choose, it just comes down to what I’m in the mood for..but it usually ends up being the ice cream :)

Good gift cards…not right now, we used em up..but the main one that I always and love is my starbucks card :)
