I miss my mom’s laundry room so very much.  Turns out when you try to stuff all 3 loads of laundry into the same dryer because you are cheap and refuse to pay more than you think you should, your laundry doesn’t dry and you will have to hang clothes all over your entire apartment, deck and treadmill.

Photo 1

Another negative of our laundromat is that it doesn’t come equipped with a mom that will come in and help you fold your clothes while you talk and a niece that brings you candy to help fuel your folding workout.

I asked Billy what he wanted me to make him for dinner last night and that somehow turned into me telling him I wanted pasta and him making it.

DSC 3887

I apologize that my blog has turned into a costco infomercial but I really am obsessed with everything that comes out of that warehouse.  These seven cheese filled pasta things are so good.

DSC 3889

More garlic bread on the side, my breath has never smelt so good.

Brooke hung out in between us while we ate (still coffee table eaters even though we have a table).

DSC 3897

It has been 47 days (yes, I have been keeping track) since the last time I went to Yogurtland.  This Yogurtland stole the show because they had actual Fun Size candy bars in their toppings bar and you bet I put a milky way in there.  Judging by the fact that it is like 40 cents an ounce, I paid $1.50 for a fun size candy bar.  I need to bring my own.

DSC 3898

Blog friends of Northern California unite.  I am a giant and my hand is also bigger than Brooke’s body.   Don’t worry about it.  The beautiful ladies: Sonia, Emily, Maria and Jaqueline.

DSC 3900

Jaqueline sent me home with a bag of Sour Patch Kids nearly as big as my child and just as heavy.  That is friendship right there.

DSC 3903

I cannot explain why Brooke is looking away from the candy and not trying to tear into it.  Maybe she already is brilliant and knows that I won’t be sharing my candy with her.

I always tried to stuff too much in the dryer at my apt too…finally I just bought clothes drying racks and hung clothes all around my efficency apt. The worst time was one they had to do fire code inspections–of couse I was gone for 3 days. I am sure my landlord and inspector loved all the clothes hung all aroudn my apt;-)

Love modern family and Revenge.

Reply

I need to watch revenge! Good idea with the drying racks!!!

Reply

Janae you must watch Revenge. It’s sooo good! I started last year mid-season and ended up catching up on one Saturday afternoon!

Reply

I cook most at home, because my boyfriend’s off cooking for paying clients…
You should make a lemon pie with your lemons. Or lemonade!
Did you refill your plate? I could eat the full pack of those tortellinis!

Reply

Is your bf a chef? Good idea with the cake! Definitely refilled that plate!

Reply

Yep! Biggest misconception people have about dating a chef: No, he doesn’t cook great food for me. During normal eating hours, he’s at work cooking food for OTHER people! I have to cook for myself and eat alone, haha

I do however politely ask him to cook for me on his days off :)

Reply

I can’t wait for Modern Fam! Oatmeal and egg whites have been my b’fast daily for 10+ yrs. I do all of the cooking and I would make lemon poppyseed bread.

Reply

Yum! 10 years of the same Bfast… That is awesome!

Reply

The Yogurtland cups are so cute haha! From that breakfast list, I am going to have to go with pancakes…but if I could add one in, it would be yogurt with raw oats, fruit & nuts!

Reply

You can definitely add that to the list!

Reply

Lemon drizzle cake!

Also, I’m not even sure I could name 7 different types of cheese!

Reply

Me neither ha! Good call on the cake!

Reply

I can’t wait for How I Met Your Mother to return! As for bfast, I’m a cereal and milk kinda girl (fruit filled FMW this morning! ;) My fiancé does a little more cooking than me but I’m working to get better at it! I would totally make fresh squeezed lemonade with the lemons, yum! Time to head out for my run now, have a great day! :-)

Reply

Hope you had a great run! What fruit filled flavor of fmw is your favorite?

Reply

Mixed berry! But original will always hold a special place in my heart ;)

Reply

Hey, no apologies for the costco overload– that stuff is great!! When my friend got pregnant, I got her a costco membership for her baby shower. She and her hubby said it was the best gift they got out of the whole loot!

And if you’re feeling up to a challenge, these lemon sticky buns take awhile to make, but are deliiiiiiiicious: http://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-sticky-lemon-rolls-with-111307

Brooke’s cheeks are getting chubbier! She’s soooo adorable!

Reply

That is the best gift ever! I just looked at that recipe and the pictures made me drool! Thank you!

Reply

I am the same way – I tower over everyone!! What a fun night of blogger friends:) You are rockin’ those treadmill runs – that’s awesome. You are going to be right back and faster than you were in no time.
I cook EVERY meal for everyone in my house. If I don’t cook, no one eats. Slightly exhausting sometimes, but I guess that’s the way it is. Sometimes, I want to be cooked for though! I don’t think it’s every happened;)
I’m not a big lemon fan, but I love lemon bars – I have only ever made the box kind, so I would make the homemade kind with that really good crust.
Have a great day!!

Reply

Lemon bars are the bomb! Come visit me and I will cook every meal for you:)

Reply

ok, Brooke is seriously the CUTEST!!! And acn I have some of those Sour Patch kids? Please? Also – no fmw today??

What tv shows are you looking forward to this fall?
Revenge!! Best show ever, I just caught up on Season 1 in the matter of a few days. You need to watch it! Also looking forward to Modern Family, Gossip Girl! Private Practice and Parenthood (which has already started and is fantastic!)

Would you rather have cereal, toast, an omelette or pancakes for breakfast?
Depends on my mood, how about all of the above!

Who cooks the most in your house? Me although these days “cooking” = throwing some chicken sausages in a pan and microwaving vegetables to go with them…

If you had a basket of lemons in your house (this question is for my own personal benefit) what would you make with them and feel free to link any of your favorite recipes
I hate squeezing lemons but maybe I would use them over some fresh grilled fish.

Reply

Brilliant idea on the fish! I am going to have to watch revenge! Fmw for my snack today:) come over for a sour patch kid party!

Reply

I’ve yet to see my husband cook anything more than toast. ;)

Reply

Really?!???

I am a fairly new Costco member and completely understand the obsession. It’s Disney for budget friendly adults :) Will have to check out the tortellinis next time I am there!

Reply

look at that face! she is so precious. i love all her expressions.
i am looking forward to Modern Family and Glee!

Reply

I am definitely looking forward to Modern Family, but have to watch it online now that I’ve moved. A strawberry banana smoothie and a bowl of Muesli cereal is typically my breakfast of choice. Headed out now for interval training with the running club here at my new uni – love the club, hate intervals!

Reply

I’m a little bit addicted to TV and there are so many shows that I can’t wait for! Here’s just a couple-Castle, The Big Bang Theory, Revenge, and The Mentalist. Trust me, that’s a very small list compared to how much I actually watch!

Pancakes for breakfast. Pancakes are always the answer! I definitely cook the most in our family. If I left it up to my husband, I would weigh 500lbs.

These lemon bars are fantastic!!

If I were you instead of using the apartment laundry I would find a laundry mat. They are usually cheaper and they have the giant industrial dryers that can handle several loads at once. My dryer was broken for a while and that’s what I did, just let it pile up for a week or two and then go knock it all out. Super early in the morning though.

Reply

I am the same way about the dryer! The bad part is it’s in my house and I’m just too lazy to split the loads up. I can’t wait for New Girl and Modern family this fall… I also recommend Revenge! Sooooo good. Brooke is too too cute, I love all of her facial expressions. Also I’m addicted to Lemon and Poppy seeds and just discovered this: http://southernfood.about.com/od/lemoncakes/r/blbb26.htm

Reply

Haha that last photo is great!

Reply

i am in love with the yogurtland hello kitty cups. so much that i might need to fly out there just to have one!!

i’m really looking forward to the same shows as you but also add in Big Bang Theory and Vampire Diaries!

omelette all the way…for some reason with marathon training I crave eggs like crazy.

I tend to do more cooking but thats bc im usually cooking for myself..Kevin has the whole opposite schedule thing going on :(

Reply

Mmmmm Yogurtland. Those girls must be somewhat vertically challenged, because you are not a giant at all!

I am really looking forward to Fall shows. Like, I feel pathetic cause I am looking forward to them so much. Modern Family, Revenge, 30 Rock, Community, Parks and Rec, and New Girl. Yep. That pretty much sums up my entire TV schedule. lol.

I love me some pancakes, but I think French toast is my fave. How is that not on your list? My mom gets the cinnamon bread from Kneaders and uses that to make it and then makes this homemade this caramel apple syrup to go on it with fresh fruit and whipped cream. Heaven I tell ya!

Considering I cook almost every night of the week. I think I win. But occasionally Ross will make some Mexican speciality for dinner. Or something batter and fried and when it is the latter, I usually pass ;)

So easy. So good. You are welcome :) http://chex.com/Recipes/RecipeView.aspx?RecipeId=49162

Costco is my go to grocery store for two reasons- I also am obsessed and love everything there including its oversized fruit and two its the only grocery store I can go to and keep two kiddos contained… LOVE oversized carts!
fun blogger meet up! Can we please get together when you come home next? I feel like I just met you then you left me.. oh, wait- that is what happened?!

Reply

I want (gingerbread) pancakes AND an omelet AND a slab of bacon AND some dry cereal these days.
Sugary cereal, please…like Count Chocula or Fruity Pebbles.

I don’t have a recipe for a basket of lemons, but have you ever made fruity pebble treats? http://hardtales.blogspot.com/2011/03/oh-hell-yes.html
(warning, my blog is old-school and ugly)

Reply

I do about 99% of the cooking in our home. Pretty much the only time my husband ‘cooks’ is if we are having frozen pizza. He is the frozen pizza king.

All I know about lemons is how to make a centerpiece out of them. We bought about 97 pounds of lemons and used them for our centerpieces at our wedding. Mmm… Lemonade would be good too. I used to work at a restaurant where we made our own lemonade. We would use these huge blue buckets and a giant metal smasher thing and go to town smashing the lemons. It was kind of fun. Might be a bit of overkill for just one family though.

Reply

Brooke is so rediculously cute!
I am so hard diggin on the show “The New Normal” right now. Also love the gorgeous lead actor in Last Resort. My old faves are New Girl, Bones, Castle, and Grey’s Anatomy.
I think I watch too much tv. At least it’s while I run on the tredmill!

Reply

I will be heading to Costco today or tomorrow. No apologies needed!
I do 95% of the cooking and I prefer it that way.
Toast. With peanut butter.
How about Lemon Bars? http://www.browneyedbaker.com/2010/08/24/lemon-bars/

Did you know some lady has a blog that is all about Costco? It’s literally called addictedtocostco.com. I saw it on TV and thought it was hilarious!

You ARE so tall…lucky girl! I’m a midget like all your NorCal friends as well!!!

We had friends visiting last week and we played ‘Breakfast Club’ and went to all the local breakfast places. ‘Hobees’ won (a local chain, I bet you have one near you) and it was brilliant but I honestly never want to face eggs/pancakes/french toast/hash browns again. I’m loving the simplicity of All Bran and the lack of guilt that comes with it. But check out Hobees!!!! Loved it. Each breakfast is served with a giant sized piece of apple or blueberry cake. Can’t go wrong!

Reply

mm my breakfast preferences change by mood but i love eggs for breakfastso i would say omelette. or how about omelette and pancakes? haha :)

Reply

Grey’s and the office.
Pancakes for sure are top on my list. No syrup though!
I am the cook/baker/grill master of our marriage. It works though – hubby has the lawn and all the gross jobs that come up with houses.
Lemons – sugar cookies!

Reply

I was looking forward to breaking bad, but now that the season is over I’m waiting for the next final 8 episodes! I also love modern family and revenge. I love all breakfast foods! You can make a lemon meringue pie!

Reply

It was so nice meeting you, Billy & Brooke last night! Seriously, you guys are so sweet.
We should plan a weekly/monthly fro yo date.
The last pic is hilarious!!

P.S thanks for the link love. :)

Reply

We used to do laundry over my parents house as well. It always went by so quick because Mom’s are so much better at it. Clothes drying all over the place? That was my dorm room in college haha

What tv shows are you looking forward to this fall?
Grey’s Anatomy!

Would you rather have cereal, toast, an omelette or pancakes for breakfast?
Omelette for sure – with peppers, onions, and lots of cheese….or spinach and feta….and home-fries can’t forget!

Who cooks the most in your house?
I do 90% of the cooking. We go to my parents one night a week and my husband usually cooks one night a week.

If you had a basket of lemons in your house (this question is for my own personal benefit) what would you make with them and feel free to link any of your favorite recipes!
Sorry I can’t really help here….I do recommend zesting all of them though. Any zest you do not use now can be frozen and saved for future baked goodness. I do this with all my citrus because sometimes I only need the juice, but the zest is so good for baking!

Reply

I cook the most but my husband will make dinner and breakfasts sometimes on the weekend :) He would probably do it more often but it’s usually easier for me to cook during the week since I get home from work earlier. I also tend to make a little bit less of a mess!

Love the Brooke pics! She is the best.

Reply

mmmm tortellini’s. must pick up a bag next time i am at the store.

it was great meeting you, the family and the ladies last night! Brooke is even more adorable in person! She is just so darn cute! I too piled on some mini candy bars. almond joy called my name.

Looking forward to Modern Family and The Office most definetely. 1. MF is hilarious and 2. It’s the last season of the Office!! it has to be watched!

I do most of the cooking. Every once in a while Eric surprises me and cooks, which I greatly appreciate.

And since I can’t make pancakes to save my life, omelette for breakfast. though i would order pancakes when eating out.

If I had a giant bag of lemons, I would make limoncello out of them and . . . . lemon cake. I LOVE lemons. I slice em up and eat them raw. (okay, maybe i sprinkle a little sugar or honey on the wedges)

Reply

I cannot get over your posts. I die at every single picture you narrate.

Apparently I didn’t finish my post before…oops. You should definitely make lemon blackberry ricotta muffins with your lemons. I made these a few weeks ago and they were amazing. You won’t be sorry!! http://www.twopeasandtheirpod.com/lemon-ricotta-blackberry-muffins/

I always hang my {fitness} clothes up to dry on a clothes rack–LOVE that thing!

YAY for sour patch kids!

Reply

I am looking forward to Survivor and definately Modern Family.

I would rather eat french toast everyday but no time to make them everyday. So..cereal it is! I pretty much will eat any cereal. We always have 5 boxes open in our pantry and at least three backups in the basement.

I do all the cooking. I love to cook!

Reply

Love the picture of Brooke with the sour patch kids!! What is she going to be for Halloween?

I am looking forward to watching Once Upon a Time, Supernatural, CSI, and what ever else I randomly watch!

And I would like all of the above for breakfast! :)

Just wanted to say that I discovered your blog recently and have been proper stalking you like a crazy person for the past few days. I LOVE IT and you and your family are adorable and fun to read about. Thanks for brightening up my day!
I live in England so I’m looking forward to the next series of Supersize vs Superskinny (it’s when a fat person and a skinny person swap diets for a week) on tv – at least I’m hoping it comes back, I’m not actually sure.
If I could have pancakes for breakfast every day I would be the happiest girl alive!!

i love this and even though we missed you all weekend i feel like i saw you cause you document everything so well! we need to watch modern family and the office together. also, with lemons you can make honey lemon tea..remind me to show you because it is our FAVORITE thing! really just a huge scoop of honey and half a lemon squeezed into a mug, then pour hot water. most soothing, yummy drink in the world! xo

Reply

your posts always make me laugh! i do the same thing with my laundry — here in DC it costs about 2 bucks a load which is RIDICULOUS! that’s like $30 a month or something. sometimes i wish i wasn’t a runner because then i would not have a ton of smelly workout clothes and thus would save mad moolah. Sigh.

Reply

Perhaps you can bring sour patch kids for your froyo fix? ;)

I used to have a Costco membership. You’re making me miss it!

Reply

my favourite uses for lemons would be in a dressing or with dill on top of salmon.
i’m definitely a cereal gal butttt I can’t have boxes around or I eat the whole thing in one go :)
as for the cook in the house it’s me.. I am definitely a control freak in the kitchen and 9 times out of 10 I want to be in control of the kitchen… it also helps that my bf can barely scramble an egg
and for fall tv i’m really excited for ‘the new normal’ I swear the grandma is a version of my mom and it makes me laugh… ‘guys with kids’ also looks great

Reply

SO GREAT meeting you last night!!! You ROCK. Can’t wait to hang out again :)

mmm pancakes!!!!!! with a side of FMW: we have that free at work-come for a snack!

ps. craving fro yo
pps. you are NOT a giant

Reply

I can’t believe you put up a picture with both a cute baby and huge bag of candy! Now I want both REALLY badly:) I guess the candy is easier to come by so I will go for that first.

Reply

Pancakes will always win for breakfast! There is nothing better than a stack with some strawberries and drowned in syrup with butter and whipped cream. I now want some. Bad.

Reply

Haha I love how that bag of candy is almost as big as Brooke. Does it weigh more than she does?

Right now, I’m all about the cereal for breakfast. I’ve gotten a little lazy over the summer when it comes to cooking (since I don’t have anyone but myself to cook for), so my mornings have been all about spending no more than 5 minutes in the kitchen. And when it comes to lemons, the most I ever use them for is slicing them up, throwing them in a big pitcher of water, and tossing that in the fridge.

Reply

I hate hanging out washing, and the having to fold it afterwards. So dull :(

You really must watch Revenge – it is genius tv (in my eyes at least). I don’t know anyone else (non-bloggy friends) who watches it but I am addicted. Also recently discovered Downton Abbey and watched the first two series in quick succession on LoveFilm. Fab programs.

Reply

I can’t wait for new episodes of Revenge and Once Upon A Time. Apparently, I like drama!

Your post is making me super hungry and I still have an hour to wait before Mike is done with his run!

Reply

I just love you, every post cracks me up! …things like ‘my breath never smelt so good’ after garlic bread…lol! :D
I would totally do the same thing as you with the laundry. I HATE laundry…and since it’s never ending…well, I better start liking it asap! But I don’t even separate the clothes- I wash everything together..it’s quicker. Just throw everything in cold water & we’re good to go. I have a feeling my not so lucky laundry day is coming ;)
Shows for the fall: Modern Family for sure, Revenge, Homeland & Dexter!!

Reply

1) the office and glee, 2) an omelet, 3) me because my goldfish is afraid of the stove and 4) lemonade? Lame, I know.

Reply

Well that one’s easy. I would make lemonade. Come on, Janae, everybody knows that’s what you’re supposed to do when life gives you lemons!! ;)

Reply

Oh my gosh that picture of her with the SOur Patch Kids is priceless. :)

Reply

I love cheese filled pasta, so good! Every time I see all the goodies you bring home from Costco, it makes me want to get a membership so bad! I just don’t have one that close to me so I don’t know if it would be worth it…but keep advertising for them girl!

Reply

I’d take cereal over pretty much any other food any day. There are so many different kinds, and it ALWAYS hits the spit. I love that you love Frosted Mini Wheats so much because that’s one cereal I could eat for every meal, everyday. Call it an obsession, whatever. You know it’s delicious.

Reply

haha same here… cereal all the way.

Reply

SAAAAAD!!!! I want to be at Yogurtland wit you!!!!! And now I need a Butterfinger and I don’t have one. Boo to both of those things.

Reply

I hate laundromats, I spent a majority of last year with damp clothes laid out all over my teeny dorm room because I was too cheap to re-dry my clothes. $1.25 a dry cycle my butt.
I’m super jealous of your yogurt cup! Fro yo sounds sooo good right now!

Reply

47 days without Yogurtland?! That is just entirely too long! :)

Reply

I love The Office too! So funny!!
Right now I would love an omelet! It might be because I have cereal last night right before I went to bed…

Reply

I was super busy last week so be prepared for all my comments on the last 12 posts :)

I used to do the same thing with laundry. It’s so hard to find quarters sometimes. Now I live with my fiance and we have a laundry room on the first floor. But I get annoyed because he does a load of laundry everyday. Doesn’t he know your supposed to let it pile up and do it all at once.

Reply

Fall is all about Vampire Diaries & the final season of Gossip Girl!

Can I have the cereal & toast combo. Bonus points if I can have one slice with cinnamon & sugar.

I guess I do…because I live alone. Bummer!
