When the time came for me and Brooke’s afternoon nap I made a decision that I am sure Billy isn’t happy about.  No nap = grumpy Janae.  I went to the pool instead of a nap because some chocolate and painting my nails sounded really good while Brooke napped in the shade next to me.  I forgot the whole thing about ‘chocolate melts really fast’ and so I was forced to down my cookie and chocolate chips in 60 seconds flat.  This was a good thing because I always try to eat when my nail polish is still drying and end up eating a little nail polish while I’m at it.

We hosted our first dinner party last night at our new place.  I am glad I chose to take a picture at the end because I know you came to this blog today to see a pile of dirty dishes.

I went all out and put a lasagna in the oven from Target.    In case you like chicken lasagna with white sauce, the Target frozen brand is extremely good but maybe I am not the best person to ask because I pretty much love any and all food.

I joined a book club.  Come on now, don’t be so shocked… I do actually read things other than blogs, Facebook and Twitter…. okay, so technically I read this months book last year but I promise I will read this next months book.  Emi and I had a blast, got in some quality girl time and our husbands did manly things like watch men fighting in a cage and talk about football and computers.   We have a one bedroom apartment but manage to have 7 large speakers, one of Billy’s obsessions.

Billy realized that I must really REALLY like our new friends once I offered them my sacred It’s-It cookie sandwiches last night (ps I just learned that they are oatmeal cookie sandwiches, that is why they are so good).  I wouldn’t do this for just anyone.  I try to be a generous person to everyone except when it comes to food so for future reference if I offer you my cookie sandwich then you know I really love you.

Fun fact about my gorgeous friend:  She ran a marathon (St. George)  when she was FOURTEEN years old?  Isn’t that incredible?  Her parents have both ran over 50 marathons and a bunch of 100 mile ultra’s.  We were meant to be bf’s.

————————————————————————

Are you in a book club?  Have you ever been in a book club?

Have you ran the St. George marathon?  Is it on your bucket list of races?

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?  What time does your weekend start?

What was the last chocolatey thing you ate?  (I have been doing a very good job making up for all of the chocolate I missed out on when I was pregnant and being crazy not liking chocolate)

BAHAHA. I died at your comment about doing manly things. I’m glad the book club was fun though and you have already met so many great people.

A marathon at age 14? Good heavens-I was failing the mile test in gym class at that time…I couldn’t even imagine.

II am eating a chocolate waffle and reading your blog. LOL.

I totally want to be one of those awesome running parents but I haven’t even run 1 race yet and I’m 29! Good thing I’m not pregnant… I still have time to get some in ;-) A marathon at 14… I didn’t even want to run around the block at 14! lol I hope my kids are crazy running lovers too some day!

I’m in a book club. We had 4 people and then a few more were added last week. I like small clubs, gives people a chance to talk. Normally I don’t like bookclubs but this one has been good so far. What are you reading this month?

That is crazy that your friend ran a marathon at 14! Does she still run?

This weekend, I’m excited to make over our dining room. I’ve already started, but I can’t wait for it to be finished!

The last chocolatey thing I ate was chocolate chip bread last night before bed.

Did you know that yesterday was International Chocolate Day? If not, you have to make up for it today…because chances are you would have had even more yesterday ;)!

I am slowly showing my daughter how awesome running is! She just did her second race and she is only 6! She loves to do them! Proud momma.

Last night after dinner I made me and my daughter a cut up banana topped with almond butter and nutella. That’s goodness!

Haha, I am the same way. I would give the clothes off my back to someone in need, but come in-between me and one of my food loves and it’s a different story,

Hope you have a great Friday girl!

Brooke is so precious! Ahh, she gets cuter every day.

She is gorgeous – like a blonde version of you! ;)

Ahh your new friends are so lucky to have found you;-)

My weekend starts at 10 p.m. (if we get out of work on time). I am most looking forward to playing in the new sandbox w/my toddler and baking–we have tons of apples, zucchini and pumpkin from our garden.

How much are you loving Cali and being able to take Brooke to the pool to nap?!
I actually am in a book club with some awesome girls! We took the summer off so I’m looking forward to our September meeting!
Wow- a marathon at 14 is crazy! That’s awesome you already have running friends!

I’m totally the same about food sharing!! (#sorryi’mnotsorry)
I last had chocolate yesterday — both a small piece of semi-sweet dark and THE BEST chocolate pudding EVER!! (A new find — lactose and gluten free, which is unfortunately necessary — and it’s going to be a staple, I can tell!)
I’m working overnights this weekend, so technically yesterday and today are my “weekend”. So my weekend officially ends at 11:30 tonight. Bummer! But enjoy yours!!!

Haha you know you’re friends when you can give up a cookie ice cream sandwich! And I’m in a book club with other Chicago area bloggers!

Such a nice evening! I’m hoping my husboy and I can do this once we get settled in Utah! Will have to check out the Target lasagna?!

Not in a bookclub, but do have a set goal on my Goodreads to read a certain amount of books in a year. Gives me a challenge to keep myself paced. I’m failing this year – I wanted to read 100 books. I’m just a tad behind. I blame the move.

I’ve never run a race. Been running for 12 years straight – and not a single race. Just not into ’em. Maybe I’ll do some for charity. Or maybe once I’m pregnant – then I’ll run my first race for my baby. But running a marathon at 14? This gal has runner’s BLOOD!

This weekend – I’m driving across the state to go visit my family before we move. Never ever seem I have enough time in day. Also – one of my nephew’s birthdays! 9 years old!

Last chocolate thing? My Luna bars before my daily runs! They are GREAT prerun fuel! Have a great weekend!!!

I actually started a book club with my running club group about a year ago! We just read running books! We have so much fun! I recommend The Long Run and right now I just started Unbroken and it is sooo good!

I love book clubs. I was in one in LA. I really should find a good one where I live now. It’s a good way to meet people. I also read a ton anyways so it’s not hard for me to read the book by meeting time.

Reply

Looks like a great night with friends. I have to try that Target lasagna!

I participate in Julie from PBFinger’s book club – that way I get to mix my blog and books :)

Have a great weekend, Janae!

I’ve never joined a book club, but it sounds fun! I really enjoy reading. My weekend starts at 5 today, and then I’ll be preparing for a 5K race tomorrow morning!

So jealous I cannot wait to have my first dinner party once we finally move out of the in-laws.
How do you manage to make so many friends so fast?
I actually didn’t have any chocolate yesterday – the last chocolate thing I ate was…I can’t remember! How awful is that??

I have never been in an official book club. But I share books with friends and my sister.
Never have plans to run any full marathon.
My weekend starts at 3. I am looking forward to picking up my Bountiful Basket and going to the baseball game.
There was chocolate on my last protein bar.

100 mile ultras!! Shut the front door! That’s amazing and insane. Good for them. Your friends are lovely and the dinner looks delish.
My weekend starts in 1 hour actually! Thank you Jesus!

My girlfriends and I do a dinner and book club. The host picks the book, and the theme for food. We already the book and bring a dish, with a copy of the recipe for everyone to take too. It’s a great way for us all to catch up and chat. Plus it’s an awesome chance for the last three of us who don’t have kids (but are all now preggo at the same time) to get some tips from everyone else that does have little ones!

I’m looking forward to two things. #1 my long run… of course. #2 party I am throwing at my house Saturday night.

And I MUST find those ice cream sandwiches where I live!

Marathoner at 14?! I think you found yourself an excellent new friend :)

Always want to be in a book club but they ebb and flow in a small town. Ask my mom all the time, but we read some of the same books at different times and I guess she has her own friends back home. Lame.
St. George was the first marathon where I surprised myself, actually ‘running’ the marathon. A wonderful experience for me!
After vacation, excited for a weekend with no plans and I snuck in two mini dark chocolate PB cups last night. You look great, baby is gorgeous.

The St. George Marathon was on my list…did it once & I’m pretty sure I won’t need to ever do another marathon…let’s just say I did finish, but it was a tough 26.2 for me. My husband & I find ourselves sticking to the 1/2’s for now & are training for the Provo Halloween Half next month…seems like it will a lot of fun! I’m most looking forward to our long run tomorrow morning, the mornings are cooling off her in UT and it makes for a great run!! My last really tasty treat that included chocolate…a zucchini pecan muffin with huge milk chocolate chips! Chocolate & I have a special relationship :)

I’m so glad you found a bff. She looks like a typical California girl too. :) I’m in an online book club. This would be good except it’s hosted by the too smart Edie from lifeingraceblog.com and it’s not just a classic books but really hard (slightly boring) kinda books. We’ll see, this is the first month and so far I’m not doing so hot. Today’s our first online chat thing and I should be half way through The Odyssey but I’m on page 33 or something. Eeek. The last chocolate I had was of course a w.w. frozen snickers. I hope to run the St. George Half one day but have NO desire to ever run a marthon. Not much to look forward to this weekend…other than not making lunches, getting everyone up and ready and being a taxi mom. It’s chill time for me, and it starts in 45 minutes. :) Have a fab weekend and if you’d be a dear and like my f.b. page I’d appreciate it. I’m kind of a dork when it comes to all that stuff. Good job on the dinner by the way, it’s so Martha. :)

never been in a book club and probably never will be lol I like to just enjoy my book and not question it.

my weekend starts technically this morning, but will officially start when my bf gets home, can’t wait to see him :)

Last chocolate thing I ate was 85% dark chocolate last night :):):)

Never ran a marathon, I hope to run one, one day :)

My weekend is sorta already started, but I have a 16 miler (my first ever!!) in the morning with my dad so I don’t go into weekend mode until after that. But, after our long run we (along with my hubby and mom) are driving up to Atlanta to see the Braves play and to eat lots of wings and drink lots of beer. I’m super stoked!!

You offered me an it’s its. Does it count if it is months away? You must really love me :)

I loooove St George. I would have loved it to be my first marathon. We will see how much I love running a marathon and if I do, that one will for sure be on my list of ones to run.

I am in charge of our Ward’s book.club. I love reading, but it stresses me out to be the one telling others what to read.

Ross loves MMA fighting. He has a man crush on George St Pierre.
I hope you have a great weekend Janae. One that includes running, yummy food, and taking/posting more pics of that adorable daughter of yours!

My weekend starts now! Just furnished my long workout(injured, no running, boo) so now it’s party time. My husband has a speaker obsession too. In fact, right after our second date he asked me if I wanted to drive 2 hours to pick up custom speakers…uhhh, nope. Ha. O had no idea what I was getting into :)

Yay for new friends and dinner parties!

I had chocolate milk last night. yumm!

My weekend starts at 5. I’m most looking forward to girl time on Sunday!

Love having friends over for dinner–it makes it taste better I think ;)

Jenn from Peas and Crayons and Amy from Gazelles on Crack and I are always reading the same books, does that count?

Yesterday, I had a bit of my son’s nutella and apple. But I may or may not have had half a box of hot tamales yesterday. I hang my head in shame….i should not have left the other half of the box….

I haven’t had chocolate for days….I plan to do something about that very soon.

My weekend starts now…I have friends visiting so we’re off out for the day, and then tomorrow we’re going to wine country and on Sunday I get to run again, having not run since they arrived, which is making me feel a bit lardy!

I was in a book club once and ended up being one of two people in the group who actually read it. I sort of stopped after that, lol.

I’m looking forward to cheering on my Tigers (U. of Missouri) tomorrow!

I’ve never been in a book club, but would like to. Except I keep reading teen books so I might have to be 10 years older than all other book club members :-)

I’m in a book club! It’s a really fun way to get together with the girls during the week nights :)

I have never done the book club thing.

I am most looking forward to a trail run with a big group of crazy ultra runner friends.

So awesome that your friend ran a marathon when she was 14. That is true love and dedication for running :)

The last chocolate I ate was straight from Switzerland. My friend brought it back from her trip and it is amazing.

I am in a book club and it’s super fun, mainly for the gossiping and food, but we talk about the book a little too! I posted my all time favs yesterday. Check them out here http://www.hungryhealthygirl.com/2012/09/13/thursday-things-favorite-books/

I am in a book club and it is one of my favorite things in all of the world! What was this month’s book? Wow! A marathon at 14! What a cool girl! You already have a slew of friends, Janae! Good for you!:)

That’s crazy (but awesome) that she was just 14! A friend’s daughter who is 16 just did her first 1/2 ironman this past July…super impressive to me and I hope she sticks with it. Glad you got in some QT girl time and you like her enough to feed her, lol! My weekend starts at 4pm and the last choc thing I ate was pretzel m&m’s! :)

I am in a book club. I love it. It is one of my favorite things! My husband thinks it is fake. We all do read the same book and we do talk about the book for a 30-45 mins (usually before he is home from work) then we spend four hours, drinking wine (when not pregnant) and eating and generally talking.
What books are you guys reading?
My fellow mom friend watched my 2 year old made me banana chocolate chip muffins while I was at the doctors. They are awesome because 2 year olds don’t measure chocolate chips.
My weekend starts whenever my hubby gets home from work :)

Reply

Looks like you and Brooke have such fun days together and are making tons of friends in Cali! Last chocolate things (yes plural) I ate where, chocolate chip cookie dough pop tarts, a milkyway and a caramello. I loooove chocolate! The weekend starts at 530 when the hubby gets home…here’s to hoping the pager doesn’t go off all weekend!

Reply

Sounds so fun! I love couple’s dinner nights. I had never heard of it’s it until you mentioned it! And that is cray cray (but awesome) that she ran a mary at 14! Wow!!! :-)

*sigh* unfortunately our little girl is super sensitive to caffeine so chocolate is on my cannot eat list – yes, even small amounts. When I do cheat I pay for it with a baby who will not settle. The things we do for our kids :)

I love St. George marathon. I am training for my 7th St. George now. You would love it, you should definitely try to get in next year.
And I am in a bookclub but unfortunately don’t ready the book half of the time. They’re great though and still let me come to talk and eat. :)

I was JUST in Target the other day and saw that chicken lasagna & was wondering if it was any good- I love having the freezer stuff available for nights I don’t feel like cooking. I will have to pick it up!
I’m REALLY wanting those ice cream sandwiches- oatmeal cookies are my absolute favorite!!!
Your friend is GORGEOUS & that is incredible about her parents…and her running a marathon at 14. YES, you two were definitely MEANT to be friends :)

I am not in a book club but I read so much I definitely should be!

My weekend is completely packed! Homecoming is next week, so we are spending the day at the school decorating tomorrow. Tonight we had an away game (we won BIG!), and Sunday we have church and then cheer practice again.

CHOCOLATE is so amazing…my latest chocolate was my favorite obsession from TJ’s – sea salt and turbinado dark chocolate almonds. Perfection.
