Waffle Sandwich and how do you stack up?

Billy just sent me this picture from our new apartment:

Have you ever seen a more beautiful dishwasher in your life?  I actually can’t even remember the last time I lived at a place with a dishwasher and I have a feeling that this will motivate me to actually cook Billy dinner once a week or at least wash our cereal bowls more often.

During church today I pinched my arm really hard so that tears would weld up in my eyes and leaned over to my dad.  I gave him the saddest puppy dog face in the world and begged him to make waffles for us after church.  When we were growing up he would make my sister and I pancakes every single Sunday and now they have a high tech waffle machine so we switched over to waffles.

My dad is REALLY REALLY allergic to eggs and so he made the batter using 1/2 a banana in place of the egg.  I will be doing this from now on because it gave it the best texture and flavor.

I had two waffles but was mad I didn’t think of turning it into a pb and peach sandwich like our friend that was over did.

My ankles are pretty swollen and so I am told that I HAVE to relax on the couch and put my feet up.

This whole pregnancy thing gets such a bad reputation and I don’t get it…  lay down with your feet up, eat delicious food that you are ‘craving’, increase your calories and have people give you back massages.  Maybe I won’t be ready in 12 days to let her out.

———————————–

While laying down I am reading the Food Network magazine (of course) and I saw this.  I wanted to know how you stack your glasses? Upside down or right side up?

What are you allergic to?

-Penicillin

What is the most relaxing thing you are going to do all day?

Who watched the men’s Olympic Marathon?!?!

– I alternate usually to save space.

-Allergic to dairy and strawberries (but have terrible food allergies/sensitivity in general)

– Watch the Olympic Closing Ceremonies (but I’m simultaneously doing laundry and listening for the dishwasher. Not super relaxing I guess)

– I watched the mens marathon in person! It was so fabulous to get to watch them run by me 3 times and to scream my lungs out for Meb!

I alternate for space reasons! The most relaxing thing I did today was NOTHING. I worked six days this week, so today is the Day of Nothing. :)

– Upside down stacker. I like to avoid drinking dust and spiders whenever possible.
– food coloring gives me nasty migraines.
– i’m going to have dinner with me family…and I already did some retail therapy this morning. It was lovely. My first new pair of jeans in a year and a half!
– i wish we could have watched the marathon but we don’t have a TV! Maybr my parents will have it on this evening… :)

WOW- no tv? I’m jealous! How do you do it?? My husband won’t even agree to a ‘technology free’ day once a week!

Reply

Technology free day? That sounds like to worst idea ever.

I want that pb and peach waffle now! Yum! I am so happy peaches are finally in season again. I ate the juiciest one the other day and how I have missed them so.
Boo for egg allergies. I guess there could be harder things to avoid, but still…has our dad always been allergic? I really hope Anna out grows hers.
I am allergic to penicillin, shellfish and kiwis – all that I developed while pregnant with #2.
I love that you said ‘let her out’. Lol. That sure sounds easier than labor & makes it sounds like you get to decide when it happens. I I wish ;) But 12 days!! That is so soon!
I am about to watch the marathon now. I love lazy Sunday afternoons :)a

Reply

Hey Megan! Not to be creepy but if you developed an allergy to kiwis watch out for latex too. They tend to go together.

Reply

Haha. Not creepy at all ;) I actually read the same thing. I am mildly allergic to avocados as well, which is in that same family. I am just glad that most hospitals are latex free now. Still, I hope that I don’t develop that one!

Reply

PB and Peach! I’m gonna try that real soon.

I’m allergic to penicillin also.

I got a puppy! The only thing I did today was watch her hop around in the yard because she’s so little and watch her sleep.

Reply

I’m also allergic to penicillin. Yep watched the men’s marathon, great race and so proud of Meb!! He did awesome!! I am spending the day working on wedding stuff and going through mail (I never thought I’d see the day when I don’t have time to open my mail each day, ugh)… :)

Reply

Wow I can’t believe only 12 days to go! I had the most relaxing day- my sis, mom and I spent like 3 hours in Starbucks and then moved our booties to the park and then the soda at home!

Reply

I stack down, I don’t want anything getting in my glasses.
I couldn’t believe Ryan Hall didn’t finish! But was so happy for Meb! He did awesome! Hard to believe the closing ceremonies are tonight!

Reply

Always put my galsses upside down (probably because my sister & brother-in-law own a food establishment & the health dept always makes you put all containers upside down)

Luckily allergic to nothing that I know of!

Relaxing??? Love to read a good book or do some yoga (undisturbed…)

-Penicillin

-Took a nap! :)

-Not me!

I actually cannot think of any thing I am allergic too….and every one in my family is free of allergies too…so crazy since sooo many others seem to have so many allergies these days.

Although, on the down side our dog is allergic to something in the grass during the summer but we cannot figure out what it is…by mid July her paws start to turn red and itch….but by mid October its gone…weird. Poor her….

Upside down for me and those waffles look delicious. Not allergic to anything, but I’ll have to try the banana trick. I did something VERY relaxing today and had a pedicure! ;)

Reply

Dish washers are the best. invention. ever. :)

And I’m an upside down stacker too.

Reply

We were out of town at a friends house and this morning she made us banana chocolate chip waffles with the banana instead of the egg. I agree, delicious.

Reply

glass ones are upside down
plastic ones are right side up
not sure the reasoning for this.

Reply

My hubby’s allergic to penicillin too!! I’m allergic to nothing and I’m passing those genes onto my womb baby ;) haha. I can’t believe youre 12 days away – if u wanna switch spots, I’d gladly have mine now haha. November just feels too far away still!! Girl your ankles don’t even look swollen, but (another perk to being pregnant) I will listen to what you say!!

I totally am the minority. I stack my glasses upwards!! Maybe I like being the minority seeing as I’m left handed too haha

Reply

I always stack up – but mainly because I live in an apartment and I don’t want the rims to touch the cabinet because the place is kind of old and even though I cleaned it, the cabinet seems like it might be dirty. Annnnd because I’m a little bit of a germaphobe :-)

Yay for having a dishwasher! This is actually my first time without one and it’s definitely an adjustment!

And I am allergic to POISON IVY and unfortunately just got it a few days ago for the first time since I was little.

Reply

I watched the marathon. So bummed 2 of our guys didn’t finish but so proud of and inspired by Meb.
Congrats on the dishwasher.

Reply

I’m also allergic to penicillin!!
I took an afternoon nap. I haven’t done that in forever so it was nice :)
I did! I woke up at 4:50 this morning so I could watch it. I seriously love Meb and how inspiring he is! :)

Reply

Ahh I watched the marathon while doing my run on the old treadmill!

Most relaxing thing was yoga class followed by an super nap in the afternoon :)

Reply

Definitely enjoyed the men’s marathon, which I DVRed. I got to sleep late, make myself a delicious bowl of oatmeal and blueberries and sit on the couch and watch it first thing this morning with my puppy. SO GREAT!

Reply

i am with the 39% re the glass stacking!
i will relax this eve…by watching the mens’ marathon that my parents pvr’d for me!
so glad you got to enjoy those waffles with your family, janae – what a super sunday! and you have that dishwasher to look forward to – yahoo!!

Reply

We stack upside down. I also don’t like to drink spiders and dust!

You can also substitute flax seed dissolved in water for eggs – the texture is pretty similar and you get some extra Omegas while you’re at it!

Reply

ooh, i’ll have to try the banana in place of eggs thing. sounds good!!

i’m allergic to penicillin, too! and sulfa drugs, whatever those are. ha!

we stack our glasses alternating up and down. looks like i’m in the minority on that one.

Reply

Upside down!!! How sad to be allergic to eggs!! But those waffles sound awesome. Gorgeous dishwasher!

Reply

We are watching the men’s marathon right now on Dvr! The most relaxing thing I did was sleep in much later than normal. Loved it. Then went for a run followed by lounging at the pool. Not a bad Sunday :)

So glad you have a dishwasher at your new place. It makes things much easier!

Reply

I woke up at 3 am and couldn’t breathe (dang cold!), so I decided to just stay up and watch the marathon live. It was the best way I could have spent two hours that otherwise would have been unsufferable due to my sinuses!

Reply

Most relaxing thing I am doing today-is RIGHT now. CHillin on the floor/couch with the hubby and in-laws.

I totally stack my glasses right side up!

I’m allergic to cigarette smoke and PB and avocados.

Reply

Upside down all the way!! My Bf does it right side up, its so strange to me…

I’m allergic to milk and wheat(not as bad as milk). I do love me some bread though!!

The most relaxing thing I will do is watch Shark Week, you know, to get the fact that I have to go to school and work tomorrow. Woohoo standing for 12 hours tomorrow!!

I missed it :( I think I missed every long distance event lol Totally winning at life

Reply

aw man, glasses down skeeve me out so bad!! Firstly, I do not want my mouth touching the bottom of your cabinet which I’m sure doesn’t get wiped down enough to be super clean.. secondly.. even one drop left in the glass will moisten the cup up and give it that smell.. ewwee.. gross me out.. but I just saw a naked 3 yo run by me so I must now get off my hiney and investigate.. just wait for the joys of parenting ; ]

Reply

Ooo I never knew that you could replace an egg with a banana…what a good idea- I bet it added some good flavor as well!
I can’t believe you guys didn’t have a dishwasher in your old house…oh how nice it will be to have one!!!! Make life so much nicer…even though I hate unloading the dishwasher…:/ I would hate to think of NOT having one.
Hope your swelling goes down- that can’t be fun.
Not sure if you got my email, but can you text me your number again? I got a new phone and it erased some of my numbers :(
Thinking of you! XO

Reply

Omg…I am allergic to penicillin too, and apparently mold as well. Most relaxing thing is laying on the couch watching youtube videos… haha

Congrats on the dishwasher :)

Reply

I always store glasses right side up! I had NO idea I was in the minority…haha.
I’m allergic to acetaminophen which is in Tylenol, Nyquil, etc. etc. I sneeze uncontrollably and my right eye swells shut. Believe me…it’s a very attractive look!

I did watch the men’s marathon…I felt SO bad for the guys that couldn’t finish! So disappointing to train so hard and have to drop out.

Also, My husband and I have been married for 2 years and the apartment we lived in for our first year of marriage had no dishwasher…then we moved into our current condo that does have a dishwasher and our lives changed. We’ve had a dishwasher for a year now and I’m still thankful for it every single day!

Reply

Glasses stacked upside down.
Also allergic to penicillin- luckily no food allergies and my kids seem to be allergy free!
I am sick, so I am laying in bed doing nothing but relax whilst watching the last day of the Olympics.
Congrats on the dishwasher! They really do make life seem so much easier :)

Reply

We alternate down up too to save space. I didn’t watch the marathon, but I bet the US athletes who didn’t get to go were a little annoyed.

Reply

I store our glasses right side up, but JP stores them upside down. I rarely do the dishes, though, so they’re almost always upside down.

We got up at 4:30 this morning to get ready and make it to the gym in time to start running while the men’s marathon was on! I’m not typically a morning runner, but it was a ton of fun! JP and I haven’t had a chance to run together in quite some time–he’s training for an ultramarathon and I’m training for a half and our training schedules don’t match up. :(

With the early wake-up call, we spent the day lazing around. :) Naps and hanging out while watching TV all afternoon/evening makes for a great Sunday!

12 DAYS!?!? You’re SO closeee!!!!

Reply

I stack glasses upside down because I’m freaked out bugs will crawl in if I don’t.

Reply

I am allergic to cloves

Reply

Reading thru what people are allergic to I’m surprised no one else is allergic to pollen like me. I swear seasonal allergies are the worst! Nothing like blowing a zillion snot rockets while running in the spring because of all the pollen outside.

Waffles with pb sound delicious. Can’t believe I never thought of that. I may have to try pb & honey on mine next time

Reply

12 days?!? so soon!

Reply

Upside down. I used to work in food service so its been an upside down revolution.

When I moved from our house back to an apartment I bought contact paper for all the cabinets and drawers so my stuff wouldn’t touch the wood. Its a 1970’s apartment (which I totally love).

Reply

The kitchen in your new place looks really nice! Sorry about the swollen ankles :(. Hospital grade compression socks work wonders but you have to get a prescription from your dr for them so it probably wouldn’t be worth it with only 2 weeks left! Keep relaxing with those feet up :).

Reply

Hey.
Allergic to gluten, dairy, nuts, latex and grass.
Yep. I watched the Olympic marathon. It’s nuts!!
And sat around and didn’t do much at all:)
Have a great day!

Reply

Besides seasonal allergies and cats I am super allergic to tree nuts, tomato, sunflower, avocado, melon, sesame, and most recently peanuts were added to the list. Seriously heartbreaking. I will forever miss peanut butter M&Ms and peanut butter and jelly!

I just had to check how we stack cups and coffee mugs are upside down but everything else is up. We are so strange!!!

You are so, so cute! I cannot believe you will be having that sweet little girl so soon!

Reply

I put mine upside down. But I’m not sure why …

Those waffles look so good! I made French toast yesterday, but now I’m craving waffles!

Reply

My dad used to make us pancakes every Sunday too!!! I stack my glasses upside down!

Reply

haha I alternate up and down for no reason whatsoever!

Reply

Not allergic to anything I can think of.
I watched the last 30 or so min. of the men’s marathon. My kids (8 and 9) also watched and we were very impressed!!!!
Relax, what is that? JK – I played Words w/ Friends last night and watched the closing ceremony of the Olympics…….

Reply

I didn’t know you could do that with waffles! That’s kind of awesome.

I stack my glasses upside down.

I once lived in a place with no dishwasher and it was awful. I didn’t even want to cook for just myself!

Reply

I love the idea of adding bananas!

Reply

Oh. My. Goodness. I need to make some of them waffles with banana. Like right NOW!

I watched the men’s marathon and was so excited for Meb being able to push up from the middle of the pack all the way to 4th! Too bad about our other two athletes, though :( Uganda kicked some major butt, extremely impressive on that turn in which he escalated and left Kenya in the dust.

Reply

When we lived in a place with shiny, newer cabinets, I stacked down. When we moved into this new place, even though I sanitized everything and cleaned like crazy, I’m still something of a freak about it and as such, started stacking up.

No allergies here, thank goodness!
