So many pictures it may hurt your eyeballs.

When Billy saw me working on this post he said, “WOW, that is a lot of pictures.”  I just couldn’t narrow any of them down so let’s just go with it mkay?

DSC 3011

Last night my amazing mom and my old boss (I have known her since I was 10 and I was also her personal assistant for a few years, aka hung out with her all day, went to lunch and talked about everything) threw me the most beautiful baby shower.  DSC 3014

A pregnant woman’s biggest heavenly spread:  baguettes, gourmet cheese, fresh fruit (my mom went crazy on the fruit and now we have a fully stocked fridge of heavenly goodness).  PS I did just use the word heavenly twice in the same sentence.

DSC 3013

Strawberry shortcake.  She asked me what my absolute favorite dessert is right now and I answered strawberry shortcake with ice cream and homemade whipped cream… not high maintenance at all:)

DSC 3018

I had the best present helpers (since it is hard to bend over and grab them they brought them to me).  I could have been a nice aunt and let them open a few of the presents too but I am like a 6 year old and opening presents is one of my favorite things to do.

DSC 3020

The cutest dress from my blogging turned real life friend, Susette.

DSC 3045

We will be starting to brain wash our little girl early on to be a runner with this future marathoner shirt!

DSC 3030

A homemade quilt from my best friend’s mom and another one also from a good friend.  They are breathtaking, I think I might keep them for myself and I have decided I want to learn how to quilt.  Billy, buy me a sewing machine now.  Thanks.

DSC 3046

The family at the party:  Mer, Mom, Sissy, Cousin, Aunt, SIL (that drove 2 hours to come) and two of my nieces!

DSC 3053

Beautiful friends!  Congrats on making the tennis team this year cute girls!

DSC 3054

I have officially decided that moving is more tiring than running a marathon.  I am experiencing major DOMS just a few hours after but maybe that is because I am typing this while on the floor because of the lack of a couch.  I think I might try to convince my mom to let us live with them for the next 1.5 weeks so that we can enjoy their furniture, TV, treadmill and of course their FRIDGE.  I bet if I bring her chocolate she may say yes.

Crossing my fingers that I am still feeling good enough for a run this morning, if I can chow down on 37 pieces of bread with cheese and 3 lbs of shortcake I am sure I will feel good enough for a run.  PS Baby countdown (because all babies come right on their due date) is 24 DAYS.   576 HOURS.  Sorry, I can’t tell you how many minutes because I probably couldn’t even figure that out with a calculator right now I am so tired:)

——————————————————-

What is a skill you are really wanting to learn how to do?

-I REALLY want to learn how to quilt.

I just learned last night that Billy’s ALL-TIME absolute favorite fruit is Blackberries? What is yours?

-Grapes.

Random question coming from talking about my friends making the tennis team…  were you ever cut from making a team in high school?

– I tried out for basketball and was out of there in the first cut.

Any AUGUST BIRTHDAYS?!?!  Tell me the day!!!

My all time favorite fruit – a super cold, Gala apple. Yum!

Reply

WOW What a spread- amazing!!! Apples are my favorite fruit…I love berries & all the other seasonal fruits but apples are just reliable- always in season and taste so yum! I am ashamed to say I can’t ride a bike…but that’s definitely a skill I would love to learn!

Looks like such a great shower! Love all the fresh fruit!

I’m going to be 27 on August 9th – feeling like I’m seriously getting old!

Reply

I was cut from the soccer team in middle school, but made it in High school. Go figure.

My all time favorite fruit is pineapple. I pretty much love all fruit, though.

Your shower gifts are so cute. I love quilts!

Reply

So this is the new plan. My mom is a serious quilter, on your next vacation come to VA Beach and we can both learn because I’ve always wanted to learn to quilt as well…I’m just scared to learn with just me and her LOL!

Reply

I’m an August birthday. Leo, woo! August 12 :D

Reply

I too am an August baby- 21st! Just made the cut for Leo. I can picture baby HRG being a Leo- feisty and determined!

Reply

What a fun day! So glad you were blessed with a baby shower!

Reply

What a lovely shower :) that strawberry shortcake looks so delicious. Yum. Love strawberries :) but I love almost all fruits. Grapefruit or pomellos…. Eh. I could live without me. I always wanted to learn how to crochet. My great grandmother could crochet like a mad woman up until the day she passed. Ever time I wrap the blanket she made for me around me, I always think if her. My husbands birthday is the 6th. We are celebrating this weekend.

Reply

You look so great! What a beautiful home and shower they threw you! Favorite fruit is raspberries. My dad turns the big 6-0 tomorrow and my cousin also has a birthday this month. I want to learn how to drive a manual car, lol. My hubby’s is a manual and I just haven’t gotten around to learning how to…it would probably be a good idea in case we were ever in a sitaution where I NEEDED to drive it, haha. Hope you’re feeling well enough for your run! :)

Reply

Such a nice shower, and you are absolutely glowing!
It’s great timing to have these baby showers so you can see everyone before you leave!
Favorite fruit would have to be raspberries, but only if they’re fresh from my parents’ patch. The flavor of store-bought just doesn’t compare!

Reply

I’m August 20th!! And, this may sound weird, but I’m happy to see your updates again after two weeks of no internet in Africa!!

Reply

Your birthday is my wedding anniversary!

I have another friend whose wedding anniversary is 8/20, too! I just got married two weeks ago so I’m super mushy about that stuff now :) Happy upcoming anniversary!!

Reply

Congratulations in your recent marriage. This is going to be our first anniversary so I am still in mushy mode as well.

Thanks :) Have a great anniversary month!!

That fruit looks amazing!!! And yes packing is hard work…we moved the day i found out I was preggo! Keep eating lots of fruits and strawberry shortcake for energy!! So excited to meet your little baby soon!!

Reply

Loved the picture montage!
I had this same tummy thing a couple of days ago, I bet you are ready to lace up the shoes this morning.
Apples are my all time favorite.

Reply

I’ve always wanted to learn to quilt too! So far it hasn’t happened, maybe someday. That baby shower looked amazing. I moved when I was about 4 months pregnant and it was tough, I don’t know how you are doing it!

Reply

Favorite fruit apples, honey crisp and pink lady.
My daughter Hannah will be 21 on 8/27, My husband 8/20, niece Manami 8/26.

August 11th is our 5 year wedding anniversary and the 16th is my husbands birthday :) YAY to baby showers! Love them! They are so fun. My MIL and SIL are amazing quilters, I have made 1 quilt and it still needs to be finished. Its a process but the reward is huge, the quilt that was made for you is just beautiful.

Reply

August 31st! My mom was excited she could send me to school right before the cut off of Sept 1st! (made me THE youngest in my grade, always, and the LAST to get my drivers license among other things)

Happy Wednesday!

Reply

I hope your baby comes 3 days early so we can be twins!!! I’ll be 23 on the 21st :D

I love that kind of food!!! lucky girl!

Reply

What a lovely baby shower!
My birthday is August 7th and I’m due with our first baby (a boy!) on August 22nd! The day before you I think :) August is the best!

Reply

If I had to pick…. Apples. But I do looooove grapes. They’re just more expensive! Haha.

Reply

Looks like a great baby shower! My son was orginally due on August 15, but was born early on May 3rd!

I think I love all fruit…except bananas. I love watermelon, mango, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, apples, grapes, raspberries, pineapple…

Reply

awww what a beautiful baby shower! and all that fruit is making me drool :)

I’d say its a tie for my favorite fruit…blackberries and cherries! but in the fall i’m all about the apples…i guess its a three way tie then huh? haha

i tried out for softball in HS but didnt make the cut the first time (i was really overweight, that mightve been an influencing factor, lol) but i did make it in my senior year…i was pretty decent at hitting and sprinting despite my size :)

Reply

I have actually made a few quilts and it’s fun, but super time consuming so I haven’t done it since high school. Favorite fruit is hands down strawberries. I love those delicious things. My school was so small if you wanted to play sports you did, so no worries of being cut! My birthday is the 15th and actually looking forward to turning 29 because that means it’s closer to my baby being born! I’m due 11.20.12.

Reply

I’m turning 25 on the 7th!!! Yay for August babies! Even better if your a Leo =)

Favorite fruit is definitely cherries, yum!

Reply

I have always wanted to learn how to make furniture, which is totally random as I am NOT good with tools. I always have a vision of what I want and can never find it, so I wish I could just make it!

Reply

I LOVE homemade quilts! My BFF made me one for my birthday this year … one of the most meaningful gifts I’ve ever received.

I was cut from the volleyball team in high school. UGH.

What a lovely shower! And you look gorgeous :)

Reply

-that little “future marathoner” shirt is so perfect!
-it’s so hard to choose a favorite fruit but if I had to I’d say strawberries!

Reply

Beautiful baby shower!

I would really like to learn how to cut hair!!

Favorite all time fruit is watermelon, I could eat this all day!

I didn’t make the tennis haha then they tried to tell me that if I practice with them I would make the next years team, good thing track was more important to me ;)

October baby :)

Reply

My mom quilts, so I receive beautiful homemade quilts all the time. That I kind of take advantage of. Not really intentionally, I just love blankets of all kinds. From what I hear, if you can sew and can cut in straight lines you’ll be okay. My mom actually sewed a bunch BY HAND before she got her fancy quilting machine. Crazy, I know.

Favorite fruit would have to be honeycrisp apples. Yeah, I just got really specific with my apple. Hahaha

PS Your baby shower is very cute!

Reply

My favorite fruit is also grapes… It is such a great day when someone has reallllly good ones! I would love to learn how to jam/pickle/can things! I think that it would be a super helpful skill! I don’t have an August birthday – but for some reason the 20th seems like a really good day! :)

Reply

You are so cute! I can’t wait to have baby showers someday… (after getting prego of course!) ha ha.

A skill I really want to learn… I want to learn how to swim under water without plugging my nose. Yeah… I really don’t have a clue how to do that.

Favorite fruit… It’s so hard to pick just one. So, my favoriteS are strawberries, grapes, bananas, and dates.

Reply

Dates!! That is awesome! Girl you’ve got this swimming goal of yours..this is the summer! Hope you are having an amazing day!

Reply

man, what a spread! and a beautiful backyard too.

i think having a baby is like graduating from high school – you get to have parties and get lots of gifts. sounds like a pretty stellar deal, really.

Reply

You are so right! Glad you are back safe and sound to Cali! We might be there in September so we will have to plan something!

Reply

Yay my birthday is the 16th, I will be 26. Tell your baby she should be born on that day, it’s a great one :)

I love blueberries! My fiance always worries every summer that I will turn a lovely shade of blue. Hasn’t happened yet, but I’m working on it. I also want to learn to quilt and just got an old sewing machine from my future MIL- I need to get on that!

Reply

I hope you get some delicious blueberries soon! Happy almost bday! I would love to have her on your bday:)

Reply

I’ve always wanted to learn how to knit (total grandma style). My mom knits like crazy in the winter and makes the most awesome scarves. One day I will learn!

I’d say my all-time favorite fruit is watermelon, but strawberries come in a very close 2nd.

Reply

I know how to knit! You should totally learn, you would love it!!

Reply

What a beautiful shower! I love that tshirt! I would like to start making homemade bread (does that count as a skill?). I’m also still working on that skill of running haha.

Blackberries are great when they are fresh and sweet! I don’t think I can pick one favorite fruit – whatever is freshest, sweetest, and in season! Pineapple would be my choice today.

No August birthdays here, but Daniel’s birthday was yesterday!!!

Reply

Tell Daniel happy bday for me:) baking bread definitely counts as a skill! Hope you are having an amazing day gorgeous girl!

Reply

I want to learn how to use a sewing machine too!! I keep thinking of projects and then asking my friend who has one to do them for me haha.

My birthday is August 31, it’s a good month to be born ; )

I totally think you should just go crash at your parent’s. Just tell them you want to spend as much time as humanly possible with them until you move, and the only way to accomplish that is sleeping in the same house.

Reply

I like that plan!!! Wahooo for an August bday! Do you have fun plans yet? You should come to Cali for your bday:) you should ask for a sewing machine for your bday!

Reply

I want to come to Cali for my birthday, I haven’t seen my family since FEB! Sad. I am debating about asking for a sewing machine for my birthday or some REALLY cute boots I found, why is my life so hard!

Reply

Janae..you are ADORABLE! I recently found your blog and just adore you already. How cute are you???

My answers:
I really want to learn how to do home DIY projects I see on Pinterest :-)
My FAVORITE fruit are Pluots (croos between a plum and apricot)
It’s not my birthday this month but I’m getting married August 11 :-)

I’ll be checking the reader during my honeymoon to keep updated on your baby news :-) Good luck Janae..I think you’ll be a WONDERFUL mommy!

Reply

Ahhhh it is almost your wedding! I better get to see lots of pictures! Are you stressed or is everything ready to go? I love pluots and i really want to learn how to do all of the amazing DIY projects on pinterest! Thanks for your sweet words!

Reply

I’m pretty mellow..it’s pretty much ready to go :-) It’s in the mountains here in Colorado and I leave on Monday to go up. SO excited :-)

Reply

I got that same onsie with the dress connected from my mother-in-law :). The food at your shower looks so yummy!

Reply

Ahhh so fun! How are you feeling? When is your last day of work?

Reply

I have been feeling good still :). Sorry you have been sick, hopefully you are feeling better now!

I am planning on working until I deliver, or as long as I can. I get very tired after my shifts but the money is worth it to me haha. My doctor actually scheduled me to be induced on Aug 24th (your due date and the day after mine :) so that Randy can buy a plane ticket and be back. So as long as everything looks good around that time I will get induced and my last shift at work will be just a few days before that.

Reply

I am so glad that it will work out (most likely) that Randy will be there!!! That is perfect. Girl, you are incredible to still be working as much as you are!

Reply

My fave fruit is watermelon!nom nom nom!

Looks like you had a wonderful time! is it weird I have the same shirt as you and i’m NOT pregnant…?

Reply

Ahhh where did you get your shirt at? Hope you get some delicious watermelon soon!

Reply

Love the pictures and love seeing how excited you are for your bebe girl! I hope she’s born sooner than 24 days to verify her Leo status ;).
My birthday is Sunday! Maybe you could have her then?? :)

Reply

Ahhhhhh Sunday! Happy almost bday! What are you going to do for your bday? I would love to have her on Sunday!

Reply

I can’t wait to see that little girl! It’s like you’re counting down to my birthday, too (same day). That would be a good present to me (I know you can control when she comes…lol).

Reply

I am totally going to try to have her on your bday for your present from me!

Reply

My birthday is August 14th! My husband’s is August 13th. Our puppy’s is today! (that counts right?) Our son is due August 24 (like your baby girl). Our mamaw’s birthday is August 2nd and my dad’s birthday is August 15th. LOTS of August birthdays in this family :)

Reply

Oh my goodness! This is a crazy month for you guys! What are you going to do for your bday? I hope our babies come on out due dates!

Reply

Our doc said we’d most likely be having our baby on or before August 20th (we’ll see though!!) I’m just so stinkin’ ready to meet him!

We aren’t really doing anything for our birthdays since it’s hard to plan anything when you could be popping a baby out that day (though I truly and sincerely hope he comes on his OWN birthday–everyone needs their own special day). I figure if he’s here and I’m not in the hospital or in the process of an olympic labor, we’ll just order food in that WILL include Cheesecake Factory and a delicious slice of their very nutritious 900+ calorie cheesecakes :D If he’s not here, we’ll probably go TO the Cheesecake Factory. Birthdays are for indulging in even more food and PREGNANT birthdays are double the fun because you have double the reasons to stuff your face silly :) I wouldn’t mind someone painting my toes or massaging my back (telepathetically communicating this to husband dearest) since I can no longer reach my toes without asphyxiating.

Reply

How lovely…what beautiful quilts. My Aunt makes quilts and I’ve really got into them since I found out how much work goes into them! Glad you had such a lovely shower.

Hey…my little boy came bang on his due date!!! Admittedly he started coming two days earlier, but he arrived on the right date. This made me really glad as I hate lateness and don’t like earliness!!! I was very proud of him.

Reply

Your little boy must sure love you tons for coming right on time just the way you like it!

Reply

What a beautiful shower! I love the quilt and future marathoner shirt :) You are glowing and are going to be the best mom ever!

Reply

Girl thank you so much! I need updates on how you are doing!!! How is your training? Any fun trips?

Reply

Training is good! I am starting coaching today for a beginning women’s runners group which I am pretty excited about :) We have gone on a few trips recently- beach and camping not too far from home. It’s been a good summer!

Reply

Random skill I wish I had – knitting/crocheting. I want to make pretty things.
Favorite fruit – It changes, but the one I have liked the longest is granny smith apples, so I’ll go with that one.
I didn’t make the dance team my soph year of college – it was tragic and I cried and it sent me on a weird spiral where I broke up with my boyfriend and had lots of other random not great things happen to me. BUT, the spiral lead me to meet my husband, so I guess screw you, dance team.

Reply

Granny smith apples are the bomb.com! Isn’t it crazy how everything happens for a reason?!?

Reply

Awww this post made me so happy for some reason and I love all of the pictures. You are absolutely gorgeous Janae and your sweet family is the cutest. It sounds like such a fun and memorable day. Love you tons and have an amazing day. :)

Reply

You really are the sweetest thing in the world! I am going to miss you so much!! Will you please come run races in n Cali and stay with us?

Reply

What a great baby shower!

I’m going to sound like a grandma, but I took up quilting last summer. I’m self-taught, so I have a lot to learn, but I’ve made two quilts that I’m really proud of!

I’d really like to learn to golf well. My husband tried teaching me a few summers ago, and I’ve played a few rounds, but it’s uuuuugly!

Reply

I am the same way when I try to play golf ha! That is so cool that you have made two quilts!

Reply

such a cutie preggo!! glad you’re feeling better!

i’m an august bday—the big 2-6 on the 21st :)

Reply

Ahhhhh it is almost your bday!!! What are your bday plans?

Reply

Ryan and I are headed to NYC the weekend between my bday and his (his is one week after mine)…kind of a spur of the moment trip to visit friends, we’re pumped!

Reply

What a pretty baby shower! All of the gifts look so fun too!

Reply

My mom made me make a quilt for my high school graduation. Some present huh? Well, I’m glad she did as I still have it!

Reply

That is awesome!!!

Reply

My birthday is the 6th! Like everyone else has said, I hope she comes a little early so she can be a Leo :)

Reply

Happy almost birthday Laura! Any fun plans for your bday?

Reply

Holy YUMM! That looks amazing. What sweet friends/family you have!!

I hate moving. Hate it.

Reply

Thank you Janae for the beautiful opportunity to come to your shower last night. You were radiant and so warm and inviting as usual. You have a beautiful family and I enjoyed chatting with Billy as well.

Reply

what a great baby shower! i can say that right now i am all about the watermelon mmmmm.

in terms of getting cut from a team in high school…i avoided this superbly by not participating in anything except art club (which you can’t get cut from). ha!

Reply

What a sweet baby shower!

I would def try to live with your parents for the last week and a half! Gotta be comfortable and soak up that family time…and food!

Skill: I’m currently working on my pole dancing skills. It’s such a hard task, but I want to become advanced in that. And I love to bake all the time, but I have yet to master cake from scratch. I always find them to be too dense and not as good as box mix…so I guess that’s a skill that I want to learn and plan on trying out next week when I whip up my birthday cake!

It changes between cherries and strawberries. But I do love a good blackberrie, raspberry, pineapple, & cool whip combo!

I didn’t try out for anything except cheerleading, so I was never cut.

August 9th is my bday. the big 26. Maybe it’s time I stop eatting cookies for dinner?

Reply

I really want to learn how to knit. I’ve tried several times but can’t get the hang of it. I think I need lessons. :)

My favorite fruit is peaches!!!

My school was so small no one was every cut. We could barely gather a team sometimes.

My husband’s birthday is August 10th!!

Reply

what a beautiful shower!!! looks like fun, and you look AMAZING, janae!!! love your stripey shirt :)

my all-time favourite fruit? eeeeek that is SO HARD to choose! i’ll have to go with… strawberries! but, really, i love them all so much. blueberries are a veryyyyy close second. oh! and rainier cherries! oh, dear. i think i just cheated there.

Reply

My birthday is August 4th. It took me a whole year to realize I’m in my thirties.

Reply

I was cut from the basketball team in 7th & 8th grade, that year I was the only one of my friends not to make it so I gave up and stuck to soccer & lacrosse.

I can’t get enough cherries this summer, a new addiction.

Reply

All time favorite fruit? Pineapple, for sure.

I think your mom would let you live there – with or without treats.

Beautiful shower! So exciting to read about.

Reply

Your family is so cute and pretty, I love it!!

Reply

August 6th….whoot whoot! Your pics are so sweet and your quilt is beautiful! I actually would love to quilt too, but I can’t even sew on a button. ;) My favorite fruit just can’t be narrowed down, but the one fruit I don’t really like is pineapple.

Reply

My birthday is 8/19 and my tenth wedding anniversary is 8/24!

Reply

Happy almost bday and almost anniversary! Such a fun month for you!!!

Reply

I have an August birthday! It’s the 28th.

Reply

let’s seee.. I love strawberries & pineapple. the hubster doesnt eat fruit NOR cheese- I think he is missing a taste bud or 30! So I buy everything sparingly or have to freeze half ..hopefully when we have kids they will love cheese n fruit like me!

my birthday is August 18th; and every year I try to convince my family to celebrate it the entire month . Very Leo of me.

Scenario/Question: Yesterday @9amish I did 5mi/9:05-20ish pace in 85Degrees, then zack n I went out @ 5pmish and it was probably 95 + humidity. I was feeling better than I had originally anticipated but when the gps chimmed in it was like 1mi/10:37 we eventually called it quits just shy of 3 miles/pace =laughable. But my question is whats the best way to conquer double runs?
