Goodbye beautiful home and a doc appointment.

Anytime you know that you have a not so fun day ahead of you my advice is to get up as early as you need to run so that you don’t bite your loved one’s heads off after 5 hours straight of scrubbing and cleaning. I did another treadmill run at the gym and did 7 miles before heading home. I can finally show you a picture of our adorable little house that we have lived in the past 3.3 years. So many good memories here it is ridiculous.

My favorite feature of the house definitely has to be the fake fireplace with paper bricks.

To reward our hard efforts we decided to stop in to Cafe Rio for one last meal there together (not like we won’t eat here every single time we come back to visit my family or anything).

Photo 1 1

I had to have a photo with the salad because it is such a momentous occasion.

Photo 2 1

After lunch we went to my last doctor’s appointment here and everything is looking great. I am still just 1 centimeter dilated so nothing is going to be happening anytime soon. I love that I feel the need to tell you guys everything, including the condition of my cervix. Gross.

Last stop was to pick up some lightbulbs before coming back to finish up cleaning. I pulled the ‘can I just sit in the car because I am far to pregnant to have to do annoying errands even though I run every day’ and Billy brought me back these. I didn’t even beg him, he deserves extra extra points today.

Back to cleaning and then I have a crazy awesome party tonight that involves 3 children and the Muppet Movie.

I love your cute little home! I would totally miss Cafe Rio if I were moving away from Utah too. I just love that place!

Good luck with the move!!

Loved the Muppet Movie! It was too cute, and I don’t even have kids… :)
The songs will be in your head for days!

I just watched Usain Bolt take the 200m title…and I’m suddenly craving a run :D

Your house looks as adorable as the one we rented while we lived in NY during my hubby’s graduate school years. Our apartment during undergrad was in an old historic Victorian house and had so much character which I love! Have a great night tonight! :)

I would definitely miss Costa Vida and Zupas the most. Those are my go-to restaurants! But I grew up In California where there is definitely some good competition for those two…

I watched the women’s swimming marathon this morning. I would for sure die trying to swim that far!

P.S. cleaning checks are the worst! Especially when pregnant. Good luck with all of that and the moving! You will seriously love CA!

Oh my gosh, I love the Muppet Movie! Classic! I hope that your move goes smoothly. Moving is always hard, but thinking of starting your new lives together in a new place with your new baby must be exciting. Good luck! :)

My favorite feature of where I live is that I live right by a running trail! :) so easy to go out & run. I watched volleyball last night. Jealous that you’ll be watching the Muppet movie :)

Good luck with your move! I am loving watching the Olympic sprinters, they are some beasts!

Reply

Such a cute house! Good news on your cervix ; )

Reply

Good luck with the move Janae!

I would definitely miss the beach, it’s less than 0.5 miles away. Restaurant wise I would miss Rudy’s Taco Shop.

Last full Olympic event I watched was the marathon on Sunday!

Such a cute little house. I just watched rhythmic gymnastics which I thought would be so silly but it was pretty incredible. My face part of my house is our 70’s style sunken living room. Very Boogie Nights. Enjoy nor-cal!

Having NO Cafe Rio for 10 months was HORRIBLE! Haha.

YAY for moving<–exciting times for you guys!

Last Olympic event I watched was U.S. Women's Soccer game- woot!

And major husband points for buying those for ya. Rock on.

Don’t underestimate 1 centimeter. I was .5 of a centimeter the day before I gave birth to my first. ;) Good luck and congrats!

sourpatch/airhead extremes are my #1 love!

Half of my backyard is a vegetable garden. Even though we live in town, it is private, quiet, and my perfect little green oasis that gives me yummy food all summer long. :)

Reply

Not to freak you out, but 1 cm is really good for first baby. Sometimes getting to 1 is the hard part.

Reply

Watched the swimming marathon, the womens bronze waterpolo match and the USA soccer. :) Slow day here at work.

Cute little bungalow you used to live :)

Favorite feature of my place? Mmmmm…. the kitchen. haha. more room than our apartment, thats for sure.

After you have this baby- your dialation won’t seem so gross anymore- ha ha! So excited for your move and the baby :)

Congrats on getting the house all moved and cleaned. I know how hard that is (we just did it all this past weekend lol). I feels great to be all moved in but I hate unpacking.

And no worries about being gross. Lets face it…marathoning is gross too. Losing toe nails, having to use porta-johns, and lots of blood, sweat and tears.

Wow! I can’t believe the day is here. I would honestly miss my running trail the most – and then Wild Ginger for sushi in town.

I can’t wait to hear about your new loves in your new home!

Reply

We definitely will miss Cafe Rio! They are actually starting to open some in California, so maybe you will get one in your area while you guys live there :).

We just moved out of our place on Tuesday, it’s really hard to move both physically and emotionally. It was hard to leave our home :(.

When do you guys actually leave for Cali?

My favorite feature of where we currently live has nothing to do with the indoors but rather the fact that a grocery store, Starbucks and a 5 mile loop running path are within a 1/2 mile of our apartment. If we moved I’d miss the teriyaki bento restaraunt by our apartment the most. They know our names and our orders! You don’t get that kind of service just any where. :) The last Olympic event I watched was that dancing with the balls synchronized thing. I have no idea what it’s called and am still debating on if it should be considered an Olympic sport…

Reply

They told me I was only 1 cm dialated and no change from the prior week….I went into labor the next morning;-)

Reply

I need those sour candies! Those are looking so good right now!!

Last Olympic event I watched was USA vs. USA women’s sand volleyball last night! So fun to watch!

Reply

Such a cute house! Glad you got through your cleaning with little to no incident-packing up then cleaning is always the rough part.
Maybe we can all have a Nor Cal meet up in the near future!

Reply

Good luck with your move. Moving is the worst thing ever, so I totally feel for you. I couldn’t even imagine doing it pregnant so you are a hero! Don’t worry about being gross, we are all bff’s, right?!

Reply

I watched some of the track/running events this morning while working out–they’re definitely awesome motivation!!
I hope your move goes well! Have fun tonight!

I think the cleaning day’s purpose is to rid of the sappy and sad stuff of moving out of a house. Actually Chris was going to take a sentimental moment, and I was so over it because of the cleaning I was like I AM OUT OF HERE!

Moving will not take away your memories or good times. You’ll be showing the little one this house and your favorite running routes one day.

Reply

Umm yes, I’ve had 5 kids and was never once dilated at all at a doc appt. They’d send me home saying “see ya next week ” and I’d go in to laborious 2 days later.
I have watched the Olympics nonstop. My favorite was women’s beach VB.

Reply

I’ve been watching the Olympics on and off and loved watching the Gold Medal volleyball match last night… those ladies are so inspirational as women, wives, mothers, athletes.

Reply

I love that I live in a studio but it feels like it has more than one room since the kitchen and breakfast area are separated by a wall with just a large open doorway, AND I have a walk in closet (lol you have to walk through to get to the bathroom!

Reply

Favorite feature I would miss: I think my parents. I have lived within 30min of them pretty much since I left home (except for a short 2 mo move to KS) =)
Restaurant I would miss: thankfully I dont think I have any favorites around here that I would miss if I had to move, I think most places probably have a Chili’s or an Applebee’s, right??!! =)
Last Olympic event: womens diving last night at Cherry Berry (my 2nd time going to a fro-yo shop. I am BEYOND hooked)

Just wanted to say that I am praying for your move to go smoothly! When we moved down to KS from NE, I was pg with baby #1 and SO scared of being that far from home, my family, my AWESOME OB etc….BUT it all worked out =) I am praying for a smooth transition and a great birthing experience and that you will find LOTS of awesome runner friends (and mommy friends) super fast-which I dont think will be TOO hard given your ability to be pretty stinkin’ awesome.
=)

I am moving for work to a very small town soon and I am going to miss everything about where Ilive now. My perfect apartment, lovely hills to run, and the best fro yo ever!!!

Reply

Before we leave the house we have been in for 20 years we are going to Cabby Shack for lobster rolls, Hiedi’s Hollow for ice cream, La Paloma for tacos, and Dairy Twist, for soft serve ice cream and Hola for tapas!

Reply

Awww man, I’m so disappointed today’s questions weren’t:

How dialated is YOUR cervix?
Who was the last person to examine YOUR cervix?
1cm or 2cm dialated – which do you prefer your cervix to be?

;)

Reply

Okay your comment seriously just made me laugh for five minutes! Will you answer those questions for me?

Reply

Oh you know it ;) I am WAY too eager to share that sort of information with people on the internet…. you shouldn’t encourage me!

Reply

Ha!!!! Made me laugh too.

Reply

Now you can relax & enjoy your night!! :) I KNOW how much moving sucks, and I’m sure you both are pooped!
I’m glad everything is looking great, doctor wise, that is really good news- especially with your move ahead. I’m thinking of you non stop!! :)

Your home is so precious! My favorite thing about our house really isn’t a “thing” – it was my grandparents’ home that they built in the 40’s, it’s where my dad was raised, and it’s where I spent a ton of my childhood hanging out with my mamaw. As far as actual features go, I would say the cedar closets or the big yard!

Whenever we move away, I will greatly miss Sakura, our sushi restaurant!!!

Reply

I think my house is about as old as yours. Built in 1910. I love the old hardwood floors in my bedroom!
I am leaving Atlanta in January, and I am going to miss Fellini’s the most – cheap and yummy pizza, and there is one right in my neighborhood.
I watched track and field last night. Looking forward to the men’s marathon on Sunday!

Aww your house is so cute and so YOU!

Just to chime in on dilation, I was 4cm at 35 weeks and didn’t go until 38.5…babies are funny like that!

Reply

I’m saying goodbye to my home tomorrow as well. I’m moving from Kentucky to Maryland and leaving everyone and everything I know behind. Very scary and emotional!

Reply

Ashley!!! Good luck and let me know how it goes! I’ll be thinking about you!

I love the view out my patio door. It’s nothing special-just the neighborhood-but I’m raised up above a lot of it and love looking out while I eat breakfast. The sunsets out that door are awesome too.

Reply

I loooooove sour candy. I swear my mouth was built for it! I didn’t run today and I feel kinda blah so I think I know what has to be done in the morning. Kudos to you for moving now. I did it at 23 weeks and that was good enough for me! Lol

Reply

Seriously, I can’t believe you’re moving at like 39 weeks. 34 weeks was draining enough when I did it last month! I was 1 cm dilated for like 3 weeks in a row and then yesterday I was like 3 cm, so I think it happens sort of fast.

Reply

I hope you have a happy move!

Reply

The house is so cute! I’m sure it will be hard to say goodbye. We are currently watching the USA Women’s Soccer match. We recorded it so that Adam and I could watch together after Mason’s football practice today.

Reply

Janae, I think I am more sad than you that you are moving! Im very sentimental and I wish you didn’t have to move away from your parents, sis and nieces and nephew with the baby coming. So glad you are staying so positive , good luck and enjoy the new experience!!! ( I’ll try to be strong too!)

Reply

Is that a craftsman home!? Not at all what I pictured for you two, but I love it. A lot of cute craftsman homes like that in Oakland…
;)

Your house is gorgeous, it must so hard leaving. I sobbed when we left our last house, especially as it was the home we brought our baby home to!!!

We just watched the women’s boxing…first time it’s been in the Olympics and a British girl won it, from the town we left when we moved to California. Made me really proud!!!

Reply

There’s too much I’d miss about London to list! But then, that’s probably true for many places, which I’m glad of as I don’t think I’ll be growing old where I’m at now.

I haven’t really watched the olympics since the swimming, as it’s been too much fun being out and about in the city to want to sit at home :)

Reply

I love reading your posts, then laughing at some of the comments (okay, sometimes I cry too)

Very cute house, it’s going to be hard to move into an apartment. Hard but worth it.

What is your favorite feature of where you live?
I could spend the day at Disneyland on Monday, Knott’s on Tuesday, the beach on Wednesday, mountains on Thursday…plus The Getty and other cool stuff in LA and get to sleep at home each night. I would totally miss the general location of where we are at right now. As for the house? The pool.

If you were moving out of the town that you currently live in, what restaurant would you miss the most? I think I would cry if I couldn’t have ribs at Chili’s anymore but they’re everywhere. There is a great BBQ place….yummy!

What was the last Olympic event you watched? Women’s Water Polo, Gold/Silver match ~ Go USA ~ and Congrats to Spain on the Silver….first women’s Water Polo medal!

Reply

I’m from So. CAL :) You’ll love it here, there’s literally froyo on every corner. haha

If I’m having a bad day I just come to your blog to laugh out loud. You are so entertaining and motivational.

Awww, saying goodbye to a house/apartment is always a sad deal, no matter how excited you are to move on to the next place!

I love our porch and porch swing and our big back yard! I hardly ever sit on the porch swing but I do love the little touch it gives our home.

I so wish we had a Cafe Rio here!! Those salads look awesome.

Reply

I still can’t believe you are moving. I know you will love California.

I can’t wait to see that baby girl.

Your house is sooooo cute! How adorable. And the fake fireplace is hilarious!

I live in a condo/apartment so there isn’t really anything too unique about it. I liked the kitchen at first because one wall is all brick – but then I realized that since that wall is against the stove that food and oil spatter on it and it’s impossible to clean. I also loved the balcony because it’s surrounded by trees and super private – until the mouse exterminator told me that the mice were climbing up the trees and getting into our condo through the roof….

If I left my town I would miss lots of restaurants, but I’d find new ones. I love hole-in-the-wall places (which can be hard to find in suburbia) but we have a really good Indian restaurant and an amazing fried chicken/soul food take out place. Both super good, but I don’t eat at them regularly. Too pricy.

I haven’t watched too many Olympics, I’m just too tired at night. Last night I did see the very end of the Women’s Soccer match and then watched the medal ceremony. Otherwise I just read articles online.

Congrats on your 7 mile run! Have you had much swelling in your feet/ankles? I haven’t been able to run during my pregnancy but I’ve done a ton of walking. My feet are starting to swell though and it makes it hard to walk – I keep persevering though!

Reply

That salad looks so cute – I hope all of the last moving stuff went well!

Reply

I really like the neighborhood of Manhattan I live in but I don’t like my apartment… I honestly think you need to be crazy rich to really love Manhattan.
The last Olympic event I watched was the US Women’s Water Polo winning gold!!

I’m so excited for you and Billy! Moving to California and a baby arriving so soon!

Reply

Your house was so cute! Is that a basement I see? I so wish we had a basement! Lucky. It looks pretty big. Is your new place smaller? We rent a house too, it’s about 850 sq feet. Your porch looks lovely too. I would have sat out on it as much as possible :) I hope your new place is nice too!!

Reply

Aw, safe travels girl!! I know this will be a challenging time but if anyone can remain positive, its you and Billy!!!
hugs!!!
