A list of sister things to do.

Did you think I would leave without saying goodbye to my lover before I left? Yogurtland has been there for me through thick and thin, so many good memories from things like trying to heal my heart and femurs with froyo to telling my Dadio that I was pregnant over a cup of this stuff.

I had my normal 4 year old blend of toppings and flavors.

The girls that I have gone and eaten froyo with more times than we should admit to our husbands because if they did the math on how much we have spent there they would probably be a little disappointed.

Now this post is going to transform into a list of things to do with your Sissy when your schedule is completely open and you want to get in as much time as possible with her.

1.  Watch a soccer game while sitting in the shade of a ginormous tree.

Photo 4 1

2.  Eat some pre-shopping fuel of a piece of pizza.  Yes, I am disappointed that someone would put olives on something as perfect as pizza.  Sometimes people make bad choices in life.

3.  Stuff your face with blackberries fresh off the bush (after we washed them) until your teeth are stained.

4.  Shop and walk around the mall until you are hungry again because our life revolves around eating delicious food.

5.  Go to Which Wich and take a blurry picture of sub.  Hummus is a requirement for all of my future Which Wich meals.

6.  Take a self portrait of the fact that you are running out of room for baby and how your stomach looks more like a torpedo every day.

7.  Go to the movies and choose to go see a cartoon, Brave, even though you don’t have kids with you.

8.  Go to the grocery store just to get rice krispy treat ingredients because of a conversation that you had 7 hours previously about how delicious rice krispy treats are.  Turns out there was quite the sale on cereal…

9.  Decide after grocery trip that a bowl of frosted flakes with peaches sounds better.  I really can’t think of any food that tastes better at midnight than cereal does.

To end the day I talked to Billy for a while and he sounds like he is already loving it in Cali.  I am sure I am going to love it too now that I have come up with a plan to sneak my nieces and nephew there with me.

I can only imagine how hard it would be to move away from your family! My sister is 2 years older than me, and I love her!

3 sisters 1 brother. Growing up there was lots of argueing but once we all became adults we have been extremely close. I think the key is to not live togther but to live close to each other! I cant imagine my life with out them.

No sisters (just one brother) though I have two girls , 6 and 8, who are as close as they can be. I love knowing that they will always have a built in BFF for life with each other :)

Spent most of yesterday outdoors…17 mile solo run, then a walk with my hubby and girls to get fro yo (your toppings look much healthier than mine…at least you have some fruit in there!). I haven’t had pizza in forever but I’m afraid the last time I did it was plain cheese, which is all my girls will eat!

Best of luck with your move!! I’m sure it must be exciting and sad all at the same time.

I have two sisters. I lived across the country for a few years too. It sounds like you and your sister have a great relationship and you will see your family often. Plus you will have a new baby to keep you busy! :)

I went for a trail walk with my mom. Loved it!

No siblings over here!! I can’t even imagine how hard it would be to move away though.

Last piece of pizza had roasted red peppers on it. Yum!

Yesterday was a complete family day. Reunion on Dean’s side and then a birthday party on my side. I couldn’t ask for a better Saturday!

Last outdoor thing I did was take my puppy for a walk. He is taking over my life! I can’t complain though! :)

I have one sister… She lives 5 hours away from me :( we drove down to her house Friday so I could spend my birthday with her! Saturday I spent with my kids, sister and her kids, and parents at Hershey Park after my youngest and I hit up a Wiggles concert!

I just had pizza at Mellow Mushroom on Thursday. It was buffalo chicken pizza … topped with buffalo chicken pieces, carmelized onions, lots of cheese, and a ranch dressing swirl. It was glorious.

I’m sure you’re so sad to be leaving your family. Thank goodness for planes, so they can come and visit you!! :)

Sounds like a perfect day! My sister and I didn’t become close until she was married and out of the house and I was in High School.

I have three sisters and we are all really close. There is only 5 years separating the oldest from the youngest so we all grew up together. I don’t see any of them as much as I’d like since we are all spread out all over the country. The youngest is getting married in a week and I am really looking forward to everyone getting together again. Yay sister time!

Yogurtland is the best! I had peanut butter cookie and s’more last night. I hope you find a froyo place as good in Cali. So sorry you are having to move away from your family. My sister is two years younger and it would be so hard to move away from her and the rest of my family. California is a cool place to be moving, though. Good luck!

Good activities to do with your sis! I have 1 older sister, she’s 32 (I’m 28)…we weren’t too close in middle/high school because I wasn’t cool enough, lol…but once she went to college we got really close and are to this day. Our last pizza was white (which we tend to prefer) with tomato, onion, basil, and ricotta. I understand how difficult it is to move away from family…it’ll be okay though…my family is uber close as well as I try to visit once a month plus I talk to them daily and I FaceTime. :) Glad Billy is liking it thus far!

Sounds like a great time with your family! Glad you could fit it all in before you move on to the next exciting chapter in your life!

Awww soak up as much family/sister time that you can!!! I have 1 sister and she is my bf–although not until 5 years ago;-)

I spent Saturday w/my entire family to celebrate my 30th b-day (a week early).

Hi! I’m a regular reader of your blog but have never commented. Your question about sisters prompted my response. I live about 800 miles away from my sister, her husband, and my adorable little nephew (my parents live a couple of blocks away from her). I miss them all every day. My sister and I are two years apart, and we have always been close, but we fought like only sisters can when we were younger. We are both very competitive, so there was a lot of rivalry between us! Anyway — my sister is giving us the ultimate gift. Due to the type of migraine I have, I cannot be pregnant because of the risk of stroke. My sister is our surrogate. We are expecting our baby girl at the beginning of December! I can’t wait to see all of the posts about your little girl — and how you negotiate training with an infant. I hope that I have one of those babies who is calm enough to nap while in a baby jogger! We are going to register for the BOB stroller and our accessories for it today!

Reply

Wow! Karen, thank you so much for sharing this with me. It gave me the biggest goosebumps! She really is giving you the ultimate gift! End of December wahoo!!!! Will you please keep me updated on how everything is going?!?

Reply

Thanks for replying… she’s actually due December 4th. I work with high schoolers, and I’ve decided to take the entire 2nd semester off following my 3-month leave so that I can enjoy her for a bit longer before becoming a working mom! The process of getting my sister pregnant (medical, legal, insurance) was draining in itself, and I just want to spend some additional time just taking care of this little girl! My sister is doing great — she’s exhausted from working, being pregnant, AND chasing after a 22-month-old very active boy, but she is finding time to continue running (with a bit more walking mixed in for good measure). I will keep you updated! I can’t wait to “meet” your little one!

I only have 1 sister. We are sort of close. A lot closer than we were back in HS and middle school. Shes a few years younger.

I have one sister, and we are best friends! I spent my Saturday with her and the rest of my family, and then ran (outside) with her this morning. :)

Reply

I have FOUR sisters! And a brother too. Love them all.

Simple pepperoni, you can never go wrong with a good pepperoni pizza!

Reply

1 sister!
Last pizza topping was cheese. (boring I know)

I took my 2yr old to the playground after dinner last night so that was my outdoor time :)
And I spent my Saturday with family!

Enjoy the men’s marathon this morning! It was a great race!!

I have two brothers and two sisters-in-law, one of which I’m extremely close with–she’s one of my very best friends! She actually flew to WI from ND to surprise my husband for his first sprint triathlon earlier this summer, which was the last time I got to see her. :( She’s always so thoughtful and tries her hardest to support us, even from so far away.

I had pizza on Friday night, topped with pepperoni, onions, peppers, and olives (I’m an olive-lover!). I wish mushrooms would have been an option, but alas they were not available. :(

My husband and I went on a spur-of-the-moment dinner date with some very good friends that we haven’t seen in a month, and then we met up with another couple for ice cream and a walk. It was absolutely perfect!

Wishing you the best as you make your trip to California!

I saw you at Yogurtland. I was going to say “hi, I read your blog” but you look different in real life. Pictures don’t do you justice, you are very very pretty. So I wasn’t quite sure if it was you and I didn’t want to interrupt :)

Reply

Oh my goodness!!!!! I so wish you would have! I would have absolutely loved meeting you!! Next time I am here visiting can we go to yogurtland together?!?

I have 4 sisters. I am close with 2 of them, but working on the other 2. It’s a long story. It’s hard being the baby and your sisters are a lot older (5 years, 11 years, 13 years).

I think the last pizza I had had hamburger and onion on it.

I spent half of Saturday alone and the other half with my husband. I haven’t been feeling too good, so I slept most of the day.

Outdoors, outdoors…good question.

You look fantastic by the way. I hope to look as good as you when I’m pregnant.

One sister and VERY close. Spent some of Sat with her!
Cheese.
I walked from the car to the ballpark outdoors. Let the dogs out? Today I am going to hang up birdfeeders. I guess those should go outdoors.

I am very close to my sister, who is 8 years old than me. We both moved from Rhode Island to Colorado and lived within 20 minutes of each other for 7 years. Last year I moved 2.5 hours away. We still see each other at least once if not twice a month. Next year I will probably move further away and it is going to be hard. Especially now that I have a 2 year old niece that I adore.

my sister is 2 years younger and is my best friend. We used to live about 10 minutes apart (we ran to each other’s houses!). Last year I moved and we now love over 15 minutes apart. It was devastating, but we’re struggling through it. lol

I was leaning towards taking the kids to a new frozen yogurt place in town, after lunch. Your pic convinced me. (it doesn’t take much to convince me to eat frozen treats, though). Thanks!!

Although my sis and I live in different countries, we are EXTREMELY close! I promise it’s easier than it seems, thanks to Skype/email/phone calls/whatsapp messenger!

I have 3 sisters and couldn’t imagine it any other way!!! Sisters are the greateset! :)

I have one older sister, 2 younger sisters and a younger brother. Unfortunately because of large age gaps and not growing up together, we aren’t super close. I am close to 2 of my cousins though. Closer in age and interests.

Last thing I did outdoors was watch the Olympic mens marathon from the sidelines! It was so fabulous watching Meb run by me multiple times!

I spent my Saturday at school with my cheerleaders (we had a back to school bash). The last toppings I had on my pizza were bbq chicken, red peppers, and cheese!

I don’t have any sisters, but I have five SILs. Two of them are like my very best friends, so I say they are my real sisters. One of them is moving 13 hours away this week, and I am so so sad. I bet you and your sister are feeling those same feelings. I’m sure we will all work out ways to still hang with our sisters! Saying a prayer for you!

WHOA, that is a LOT of cereal!!! seriously!! i have to know, what was the sale?! annnnd are you planning on feeding a small army? hehe

i didn’t have any sisters growing up, but i do have 2 older brothers, and i’m really close to both of them :) and now i finally DO have a sister (in law, same difference!!), and i love her!!!

i got pizza at costco the other day, and it was the combo. i dont’ like mushrooms or sausage though, so i took those off, leaving olives (yes, yes, i know), pepperoni, cheese, bell peppers and onions. mmmmm

That grocery cart full of cereal makes me so happy. Especially the multigrain cheerios – they are the best!
I LOVE Which Wich but have never had hummus on my sandwich there. I’ve gotta try it! I didn’t have one near me for the past year while I lived back home with my parents, but I just moved to a new city and there is a Which Wich!! I am so excited. Hope there’s one near you in Cali!

good luck with the move! yes i agree cereal is the #1 snack especially after 11 pm.

I have 1 sister and 1 sister-in-law, who is now considered my sister and I love them both dearly. We live really close to them so I get to hang out with them all of the time.

I just ate pizza and it had tons of mushrooms. I looove mushrooms!

Saturday was spent with my mom and friend from hs at a baby shower and the afternoon and pm was spent with my amazing hubby!

It’s nice to see someone else stocks up on cereal like me! I can’t eat gluten so there aren’t too many cereals I can have, but now that Chex and Rice Krispies have gluten free versions I’ve stocked up from several buy 1 get 1 free specials (plus I had coupons, double woo hoo!)
Let’s see, unfortunately no sisters–two brothers but they live far away.
Last pizza (thank heavens for gf pizza crust!) had pesto sauce and artichoke hearts.
Ran 4 miles outside today before coming home and watching my tape of the men’s marathon!
Best wishes for a smooth move!

2 sisters and we are VERY close. They are my best friends for sure. We were definitely not always that way ;) Not until after HS…when all drama starts to fade. lol.

That sounds like such an awesome night. Did you like Brave? I took my kids to see it and Annabelle LOVED it. I would be soaking up family time if I were you too.

After we got rained/blown away out of our camping trip (that last thing I did outside) I was the one that suggested a slumber party at my in-laws and games the next day. Hence the fro yo no show (haha, awesome). I would have felt bad leaving early when playing games with the fam was my idea.

I had thai chicken pizza I made last (it has peanut sauce, water chesnuts, slivered carrots, cilantro, shredded chicken, mozerella and cashews on top).

I don’t have any sisters and I always wish I did! Just two annoying brothers… they’re alright.

I have one sister, my only sibling, who is 2.5 years younger then me. We fought a lot as children but are very close now that we are adults. I have no children but she has a 4 month old son, Duncan, who is adorable. He is the only grandchild so far. =)

No sisters here, only two younger brothers.
I think the last pizza I had was turkey bacon, chicken, onion and red pepper with BBQ sauce, and it was delicious!
I spent Saturday with my husband and in-laws.
We played tennis Friday and went berry picking yesterday :)

I have one sister. Even though there are almost 7 years between us we have always been best friends. I remember 12 years ago she moved 3000 miles away and was gone for 10 years because of a job relocation. I cried everyday for about the first 2 years and accumulated tons of frequent flyer miles. Then 2 years ago her husband got a job back here again and she and my beautiful niece and nephew moved back. Now they live about a block away and my life is perfect again! Family, especially sisters are the very best!

I have one sister and we are very close. I also love her amzing children…I don’ t know how I would handle livingfar away from them. You are a strong girl!
Last pizza topping was pepperoni, sausage and onion. And spent saturday hanging out at the beach :)

Reply

I love veggie pizza because I feel like it’s slightly healthier, as far as pizza goes! I go for everything, but I always pick off the olives!

Reply

1,2,3,4, no sometimes, 5 bowls of cereal right before bed… I found someone who shares my “passion”! I know there will be more reasons I LOVE you :D

I have six sisters, but only sorta close with one. I left the region I grew up in, & where they all still live, when I was 18. I love the idea of a close family, so guess I’ll have to create one of my own :)

I spent yesterday outside in the park with friends sharing a big picnic and drinking champagne.

Reply

I have one older sister. We aren’t super close, but it’s mostly because we hate talking on the phone and live on opposite sides of the country.

My last pizza was cheese, so plain, but so delicious!

Reply

Aw what a fun day!!

How did you get a pizza that was 80% of one flavor?? I’m totally curious haha.

6 brothers, 2 sisters. 1 sister older than me, 1 sister younger than me. 3 brothers older then me, 3 brothers younger then me.
