I have nothing to wear and GO TO 7-11 TODAY!!!!

After a hot sweaty 7 mile treadmill run I had to rush over to the post office to send MORE things to Cali for our apartment application.  As I was filling out the date for some paperwork I said, “YES” out loud because I realized that it was 7/11, better known as free slurpee day.  I drove straight to 7-11, went in and asked for my cup.  They looked at me and asked why I would want a slurpee at 8:30 am?  Free slurpees don’t start until 11.

I was very disappointed and so I went home and cleaned.  I would have made it back to 7-11 right at 11 but the stupid stoplight made me two minutes late and it was already so crowded.

It tasted so good.  (Billy don’t worry I will go again with you later today)

Photo 2 1

After I enjoyed every last slurp I showered real quick and went to lunch.

Why do people have to move?  It is kind of rude.  I am going to miss this girl big time because she is moving to Chicago but I am glad I got one last lunch date with her.  A Cafe Rio gift card keeping me right on track with my challenge.

Billy sent me THIS article that is pretty darn crazy to me!

That is so much money!  I wonder since we are runners if we double the numbers of shoes bought in a lifetime because of our obsession with running shoes?  We probably have to add in sports bras and running clothing into those numbers too….

—————————————————–

Who else is celebrating SLURPEE DAY? Favorite slurpee flavor?

How often do you buy new clothes?  Do you feel like you never have anything to wear?  Was it shocking to you that on average women spend that much money on clothes?

Was your run today inside or outside?  How far?

Who was your last lunch date with?

Last lunch date was with a friend from church. :) And I’m not a huge shopper. I usually do feel like I have nothing to wear. Or I feel like I’m wearing the same thing over and over again. ;) But I did break down and buy a few new things for our trip!

Reply

I wish we could go on lunch dates together! I am so glad you got some new goods for your upcoming trip!

Reply

I’m glad I read this before I left work…I almost forgot to stop by for my slurrrrpee fix. Thank you! ;-)

Reply

I sure hope you got one and that it was delicious!

Reply

haha Slurpees are good but they make my throat hurt and brain freeze! I NEVER buy new clothes but running clothes YES!

Reply

I think they taste so delicious they are worth the sacrifice of getting a brain freeze ha:) Running clothes > normal clothes.

Looks like I will be avoiding 7-11 today! Ours is located next to the university campus, so it’s always busy anyway. Can’t imagine what it’s like today!

That seems like a lot of $ for clothes! I don’t shop very often, but if I see something I want, I buy it. Because usually if I am looking for something specific, I can’t find it.

No run today, I slept in and then had a work conference call.

My last lunch date was with 2 friends (they’re sisters) on the fourth of july!

Reply

I bet your 7-11 is out of control. Ours sure was! I am glad you got to sleep in today, sometimes we just NEED it.

Reply

So glad you got your slurpee! Today is my husband and my anniversary and I love that we get free slurpees on our big day every year!!

Reply

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! I wish I would have thought of getting married on 7-11…you guys were smart:)

Reply

My last lunch date was today, with one of my best friends! I took an extra long break from studying today to make sure I got in some quality friend-time (bar exam is 2 weeks away…eek!)

I *plan* to buy clothes only a few times a year, usually with the change of seasons. But sometimes if I’m near a store and there’s a sale going on, I’ll shop. Running clothes I could probably shop for everyday. More running clothes means I don’t have to do laundry as often, right? :)

Reply

I am so happy that you had a great lunch date. Nicole, GOOD LUCK on the bar and please let me know how it goes. I know you will rock it though:) Sale always draw me in too!

Reply

-I ran a total of 5 miles today (2 inside and 3 out)
-my husband came home for his lunch break today, I think that counts as a lunch date :)

Reply

WAY TO GO DANICA!! That definitely counts as a lunch date!

Reply

I also have a ton of clothes but still claim that I have nothing to wear. I just came back from vacation and I bought 8 pairs of shoes while I was there.
My run was terrible. I was basically on a 3 week break and now I feel so tired so fast. But I know I’ll get back to where I was in no time!

Reply

How does this happen?!?! We have a ton of stuff but nothing to wear ha. 8 SHOES..you are my hero, that is so awesome. I am so sorry that your run was awful but the next good run you have will feel amazing!

Reply

Haha I saw people with slurpees walking around downtown! And I ran indoors on the treadmill today because I wanted to make my 5 miler an HIIT run and I am so not good at doing that outside!

Reply

I think you need to go get one. Great job doing your awesome HIIT 5 miler, you are incredible!

Reply

Ahh! I’m so glad I read your blog because I had no idea free slurpee day existed! I have been living in the dark! Unfortunately, there isn’t a 7-11 near me. :( The amount of money women spend doesn’t surprise me, but I definitely think you would have to add in running shoes & gear into it. I love buying running clothes & shoes. :)

Reply

Jessica, I am SO happy that you now know about 7-11 day for future reference ha. Nothing better than buying running clothes and shoes!

Reply

I cannot even remember the last time I had a slurpee…no 7-11 around here.

Last lunch date??? Barely remember that too…must have been with the family and g&g while home over the 4th.

Sadly, I am not part of that poll…I rarely buy clothes…my stuff is majorly out of date and if I do buy some thing its from Target…my occasional shopping spree is for new running shoes or a new bag. ;-)

Reply

I LOVE TARGET clothing, they really have the best things and buying running shoes is way better than buying regular clothes:)

Reply

Coke is my favorite slurpee flavor. Peter sent me that article – I am convinced I am way over $125,000 at this point in my life. Oops.

No running or working out the day after a root canal – bah. But a liquid diet means lots of ice cream!

Reply

HAHAHA I think I have too…especially when you add in running stuff:) I am so sorry about your root canal, I totally understand…NOT FUN but keep enjoying that ice cream!

Reply

My last lunch date was with Subway :) haha but really… I only take 30 minute lunches so that practically makes it impossible to meet up with my boyfriend or my friends. I’m pretty sure I created the best sub I’ve ever had from there today… and I also decided that Doritos should be considered a topping. They make sandwiches taste so much better (yes, I put them inside of it :))!

PS- WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE BACHELORETTE?!?!?! I’m nervous for the finale show!

Reply

HEY YOU!! Yum…subway, I want to come next time. What was the sandwich you created? I have got to try the doritos on it:) JEF JEF JEF JEF JEF JEF JEF JEF JEF JEF. What are your thoughts?

Reply

I got a 6in 9 grain honey oat (though I probably could have ate a foot long :)) turkey and pepper jack cheese, toasted, lettuce, spinach, tomato, banana pepper, lite mayo, and a liiiiiitle bit of muatard :) then I put my Doritos on top of everything a dug in! Is it bad if I go back and get it again tomorrow hahah and if you ever have a race in IL we can totally pig out!

I’m an Arie fan… but I think it could go either way!

Reply

YES ! thanks for the heads up – definitely hitting up 7/11 after my workout this evening :)

Reply

I think it ends at 7 pm so you better get there quick:) Have a great workout!

Reply

My dilemmia is whether or not I want my Slurpee BEFORE or AFTER my run. Oh the decisions! Even if I don’t get a free one I’m still buying one based on the principle of the day.

Reply

Please please please get one before and after!

Reply

LOL! I think I shall. That solves that problem.

Reply

Well, I did it! I got myself a pre and post-run Slurpee! Thanks for the encouragement! I don’t regret it at all!

Here’s my write of my Double Slurpee Day! http://www.phatjosh.com/2012/07/i-just-love-slurpeerunning-days.html

Reply

HAHA. I love that he sent you that. I may or may not have bought clothes today online…BUT they were on sale. ;)

I might hit up 7-11 after I teach a class. We shall see.

Reply

Hahaha buying clothes on sale definitely doesn’t count! You better get over to 7-11 today!

Reply

Wow, that is a crazy amount of money to spend on clothes. Thankfully I’m not a huge shopper except for purses and shoes. :) So hopefully I’ll be able to spend a little less.

Reply

I am just like you and shoes and purses are my FAVORITE!!Hope you are having a great day Megan.

Reply

Ohh I have heard about free Slurpee day but have never even been to a 7-11. I’m more of an ice cream girl :-)

I had two runs today! One four-miler outside, and one on the treadmill!

Reply

Well, you better eat some ice cream then! Great job on your runS today, you are awesome!

Reply

I got my free slurpee!! I tried a different flavor I think it was lemon fanta something and it hit the spot.

No run for me today was a rest day, although Im considering taking a run in this nice summer thunderstorm. Warm, overcast and rainy = perfection

Reply

I am so so happy that you got your free slurpee wahoo!! I need to go try the lemon fanta. I agree with you that those are the perfect conditions for a run!

Reply

honey twice. But maybey that;s what I watend to see because I’m so teamSean!! And what about the kiss in Praque because they thought there were no camera’s(see the one move away when they had the BIG kiss in the alley?) Also this hometown was like normal life, just a saturday.Anyway can’t wait till next monday and watch who the final 2 guys will be. I wish you all fun watching it, for sure I will. Have to be a litlle patient because I live in the Netherlands.

Reply

I haven’t bought many clothes lately because I’ve been losing weight! Today’s run was outdoors, broken up with a swim in the middle and I am beat from it. Happy Slurpee Day

Reply

Way to go Laura!! Swim and run, you are amazing!

Reply

Omg!! I can’t believe we spend that much money a year!! I don’t think I spend that much…..I ran outside and regretted it after I got a little ways down the road haha way too hot at 9:30AM. My lunch date was with my BF :)….come check out my blog!!! :) runningsprinkles.blogspot.com

Reply

Never had a slurpee…perhaps I should change that! I ran 7 outside…sunny and hot but at least there was a breeze here and there, lol. Last lunch date was with my hubby. Have a great night! :)

Reply

My Mom says that the only thing that ever comes out of my mouth is, “I have nothing to wear.” To say I have a shopping/clothing addiction is an understatement and my wallet definitely does not like this! My run was outside this morning at 6 am (blah) before work- an easy 3 miles because I am racing tomorrow night! woo!

Reply

You have no idea of what immense inner turmoil I experience everyday because the closest 7-11 is hundreds of miles away. It there was one closer, I have no doubt that I’d be going for the pina colada Slurpee every single day.

Reply

I had a lovely lunch date today with two good friends, even though our four toddlers and two babies made a LOT of noise. It was so nice to be together.
And I’m running 12 miles tonight when the husband gets home. I’m excited.

Reply

We have a shortage of 7-11 stores around here, so I missed out.

I probably shop for clothes too much but I am a clearance rack queen. I think I may have already surpassed the lifetime shoe total a long time ago though. I have at least 80 pairs just in my closet right now… and I may have bought 3 pairs this week. 271? I may need an intervention if most women only have that many in their lifetime.

Reply

I honestly think that I might spend more than that on clothes! My shoe collection has most certainly surpassed what they say the average person buys too. Which is horrible but that number doesn’t surprise me in the least bit. My husband can never see this article! haha!

New reader here! Small world – I found your blog a little while ago, and while running last night with my new friend Candice, said, “Hey, there’s this cute blog I just found I think you’d like – it’s called Hungry Runner Girl.” And of course Candice stops in her tracks and is like, “uh, yeah. She’s like my BFF.”
=)
I think if you get back to doing races in Utah, you’ll love my site and FB Page – Utah Running Guide – we give away FREE entries to Utah’s Best Running Events!

Reply

HEY CHELSEA!! Your comment made my day! I want to come and run with you and Candice, that is awesome! Oh my goodness…your website is the best! Holy cow, you’ve got everything on there. Be prepared for me to enter into all of the free running events that you host:)

Reply

WHOA! That is a lot of moolah to spend on clothes! I don’t think I’ll come anywhere near that amount in my lifetime!

Reply

Had a lunch date with my sister today…yay!

Reply

No slurpee for me… as cheap as I am, even making a slurpee free AND it being 108 degrees today could not make me want one. Sorry they are just not my thing! Free milkshakes though… now we’re talking… :)

Reply

lol! I always say I have nothing to wear! I have anxiety when I spend money on myself, so I never shop for myself unless I have a gift card or my hubby make me buy something!

Reply

It is such a GOOD thing I saw this post before 7 because we got our butts right over to our 7-eleven (which happens to be our neighbor!!!) with 10 minutes to spare! That cold lemony drink was a perfect “appetizer” before dinner! Thank you for reminding all of us! I could just imagine you filling out that paperwork this morning and realizing what day it was.

Reply

My running clothes are way nicer than my regular clothes and I def spend WAY too much money on them, but its worth it!!

Reply

I went for a run on my lunch break in the beautiful summer weather that has finally arrived in Vancouver (BC)! It was a bit warm for my liking, but the ocean breeze on the seawall helped a lot. On my way back to the office I happened to walk by 7-Eleven and decided I’d better get a better a free Slurpee to cool down while I stretched. It was amazing (and I’m not usually one for Slurpees)!

Reply

I finally ate at a Cafe Rio and it’s every bit as good as you say. I’ll have to make an annual pilrimage to Utah just for that.
I did my run inside today – 80% humidity does that to me ;)
I go through phases – for a few months I won’t buy a thing and then I’ll feel like I need an entirely new wardrobe. I absolutely believe the amount of money women spend on clothes.

Reply

I was so happy that we are vacationing in CO right now JUST so that we could get our free Slurpees today! The entire family biked into town to get our tasty little treats. I then got to enjoy a nice 5 mile run outside at elevation (8,550 ft., to be exact) that I haven’t been able to do in over a year. I love this place and can’t wait to move back from Michigan!

Reply

My hubs took the kids to 7-11, right after a dentist appointment. I don’t think we will win the parenting of the year award since they each had a cavity and we followed that up with a surgary slurpee. Oh well, everything in moderation, right?!

Reply

Every year my friend and I do a “7-11” run on July 11th. We made shirts (I run for slurpees) with a sharpee. We try to run and hit as many 7-11s as we can. Record was 13 stores going 30 miles….wasn’t even hungry after the run – may have put on a pound!! I live in the slurpee capital of the world – so it seemed like the right thing to do.

Reply

Melissa, you are officially my hero. That is the coolest thing I have ever heard!! 30 miles WOW!! Can I join next year?

Reply

Absolutely! Just have your passport and a google map print out for Winnipeg Canada…. Summer is always training for an ultra marathon – Lean Horse 100 in South Dakota at the end of August is the best! Jerry Dunn an awesome race director and does everything to get you through to the end. You would love the aid stations – coke, chips, cookies, potatoes and salt, M&Ms……… at mile 80 they have hot soup and grilled cheese sandwiches (which is stellar at 3:30 in the morning)!

Reply

Sadly we don’t have 7-11’s here in the South, but I thought about a slurpee all day! You arriving at 8 cracked me up! They are the crazy ones for not starting earlier! My last lunch date was with my husband. We’re greasy cheesey and meet once a week for lunch in between work. Tonight I had a froyo date with a best friend, though, and that about rocked my socks off!

Reply

I’m so bummed we don’t have 7-11’s in Wisconsin. :( Reading blog posts and tweets about free Slurpees makes me incredibly jealous!

I used to be a hard-core shopper, but over the course of the last year my style has completely changed and I basically live in running clothes and sweats (when I’m not in work clothes). It’s helped cut down on my clothes spending, but my sense of style is failing miserably!

Reply

I never go on huge shopping trips or anything, but I am guilty of picking up a shirt here and some jeans there…I actually bought 3 skirts today for this next school year. I couldn’t help it – 1. I need them (really – an actual NEED). 2. They fit perfectly (never happens). and 3. They were originally $70 EACH and I got all three for under seventy bucks.

My last lunch date was with my mom on Monday – we went to a local place called Picasso Pizzeria and I had the lunch special (half price dinner salads) and got the roasted chicken salad pizza. It’s this amazing salad with goat cheese, red peppers, greens, and grilled chicken atop a garlic roasted pizza crust. Perfection.

Reply

Ready to be appalled? I’ve never had a slurpee!! Although anything free has to be good :)!

Reply

Oh Beavis- I forgot about Slurpee day. Bummer. Now I have to wait a whole year. LOL. My run was partly on the treadmill and then a few extra miles outside later in the day when the hubs got home to watch the boys. :)

Reply

I am so sad I missed slurpee day :( I do this every year! I better set an alarm in my phone! My last lunch date was with my dear friend Peg! All my friends take turns doing things with me when my husband travels for work. I’m so spoiled!!!! You look great!!! Gooooo you!

Reply

Yesterday I ran inside AND had a lunch date with my friend. I don’t drink slurpee’s. And I don’t spend too much money on clothes (Except shoes) cause I tend to ruin them pretty quickly.

I wish we had 7-11s around here. Sadly, we don’t, so I didn’t get a free slurpee.

I rarely buy new clothes. I work from home, so it’s pretty silly to have new clothes.

I haven’t run yet today, but yesterday I ran a little over 6 with my running group.

Reply

I told everyone I knew about free Slurpee day and didn’t actually go myself, haha. But with good reason- I tried the new Oreo Coffee Coolatta at Dunkin’ Donuts instead!

Reply

I always go to 7-11 for free slurpee day because its my birthday! sadly the people who walked in the store before me yesterday got the last cups :(

Reply

Funny how free things always taste better. :) Glad you got your Slurpee!

Reply

I’m not surprised at the amount, as a woman who has to dress professionally for my job (suits, etc.) I spend a ton on work clothes. Then add in casual clothing and running gear and it adds up. I also have a lot of shoes, I have a floor-to-ceiling shoe shelves in my walk-in closet (jealous?) and that’s still not enough room. Right now I have at least 50 pairs of shoes which inclues 5 pairs of running shoes. =)
