The hottest running outfit you ever did see…

We ordered one of those maternity belts to help with my cramping when I run but it won’t get here until FRIDAY…shipping these days. I wasn’t going to wait until Friday to run and so I came up with a brilliant idea at 2 a.m. this morning when I was watching Malcolm in the Middle on my phone because I couldn’t sleep.

My Spanx. I rolled down the top to make a tight band like thingee.

Yep, those babies held my belly right in place and the ligaments/muscles didn’t cramp up at all (plus I figured out the less I swing my arms the less chance there is for cramps?). The best part is that there is a little hole in the bottom of my spanx…don’t worry, I didn’t traumatize people by running outside and stuck to my treadmill.

I started with a shirt on but got way too hot (currently 82 degrees in my house) and so I ended up wearing a sports bra, a bandaid over my belly button (to prevent chaffing when I was wearing the shirt) and spanx with a hole in the bum.

Billy is kicking himself that he didn’t come home early from school so he could see this hotness. (The carpet stains were there before we moved into the house…don’t judge)

(I didn’t want to take a picture of myself in the running outfit because it was just way too attractive for your eyes to see)

I know I said I was going to cap my runs off at 6 miles but I couldn’t stop, it just felt too good. 10 miles @ 10 minute mile pace.

Painless running, watching Extreme Makeover and reading blogs at the same time. I was in heaven.

To go along with the awesome outfit I decided to make pancakes and eggs in 3 minutes because I was so hungry and they turned out looking awful but they did taste okay after I added a gallon of syrup to the pancakes and ketchup to the eggs.

I came over to my parent’s house to escape the heat of our house (and to eat their food). I am thinking some reading on the deck will occur followed by taking my nieces and nephew for a donut (not because I want one but because they do…very selfless of myself).

Speaking of my niece, she lost her first tooth!

I had a really good run today.. 5 miles on the antigravity treadmill at my PT office! Its so much fun and so awesome. My knee doesn’t bother me at all :) Glad you were able to get in 10 miles today, thats awesome!

Favorite breakfast meal is greek yogurt with granola and walnuts. I’m obsessed.

I am so happy that you had a great run! I want to try the antigravity treadmill so bad and YAY for no knee pain!

I also watched EM: Weight Loss Edition last night – great episode! And I wish I had a treadmill to hop on while watching it! :)

Reply

Seriously….that episode was incredible. He went through so much that year and STILL lost the weight.

Way to go on losing her first tooth! That’s exciting! :D

Hahaha your running ensemble cracked me up. You gotta do what you gotta do!

Mmm, pancakes sound so good right now…I might be making them for dinner now!

My favorite breakfast that is currently on repeat is banana bread with chocolate chips paired with some coffee!

I always got 50 cents per tooth…but if it was a molar, then I got a buck!

Hope you have a great evening, Janae!

I’m obsessed with peanut butter cookie flavored overnight oats. :)

Reply

If healthfulness doesn’t matter … I’ll always pick cold pizza as my favorite breakfast :) but lately I’ve really been enjoying poached eggs!

Reply

My favorite breakfast right now is oatmeal, 1/3 c skim milk, chia seeds, dried cranberries and a side of coffee. It’s really getting too hot to eat this breakfast, but I don’t care. It’s delicious.

Reply

1/2 cup oatmeal with 2/3 cup water – nuked in the microwave 2 min. Add to it 1/3 cup Greek yogurt, 1/2 Tbsp PB, 1/2 Tbsp cookie butter, 1/2 apple chopped, & sprinkled with chia seeds. I get excited just thinking about it :)

That outfit sounds hilarious. But whatever works, right?! And TEN miles?! You are AH-Mazing!

I got that email from Groupon this morning. I may or may not have immdiately emailed friends about it. That would be such a fun girls weekend. Now if we could all just coordinate when we have babies so we could all do it together!

Great job on the run! Jealous over here…wishing I had the summer off – I would probably run all day long! :-)

My favorite breakfast lately has been scrambled eggs with laughing cow cheese and red pepper flakes! I am obsessed with spicy things at the moment.

Reply

Hey that’s my blog you’re reading!

I really wish I could have seen you in the outfit. And BTW, which shoes are those?

Favorite breakfast is PB&J sandwich followed closely by donuts and/or egg sandwich.

Reply

Better believe it is your blog:) I look forward to your new posts so much! I have mastered reading and running at the same time but commenting and running is a little more difficult. You would have loved the outfit. They are the Brooks Green Silence, LOVE THEM!

Reply

My run yesterday was not good. I usually take my rest days on Monday, to give myself some to look forward to. But I am determined that Tuesday’s run is gonna be awesome.

Reply

BOOO to your run yesterday and I am sure your run tomorrow will be AMAZING!

Reply

OMG! I laughed so hard I snorted. This post was AWESOME!!

For a make-shift belly band, take an old t-shirt that is too tight, cut off the top portion (sleeve to sleeve) and pull it over your belly for extra support. Worked for me!

Reply

Um…you are brilliant. I am so trying that, thank you!

My best outfit is when I ride the indoor bike trainer. I have a pair of hand-me-down spandex bibs from a college that I didn’t even go to, the suspenders go over a sports bra and then I put a shirt on, which comes off because it gets so hot. Oh, and the bibs are a size too small.

I can’t imagine running in spanx. The bum hole thing had to be weird.

Reply

I love that you ran in Spanx! One time my husband and I were on a trip back to Maryland for a wedding and he forgot compression shorts to run in and used my Spanx instead (they were only the leg ones, not the ones that go up to your boobs). Thought it was pretty funny. He said they worked well too!

Reply

OH MY GOODNESS…..your story absolutely made my day! I will have to let Billy use mine next time he forgets his ha!

Reply

My niece lost her first tooth today, too!! My SIL just sent me a pic haha. How funny! ;)

Hey Janae!

Can I ask which maternity running belt you ordered? I’m 22 weeks with #3 and need to finally cave and order one myself. Everything about running–except for the cramping and pressure– feels great, and I would hate to stop if there was a way to be more comfortable!

Reply

HEY KATE!! Congrats on #3…that is beyond exciting!! Yes, here is the link to the one I got:

Wow–you’re quick! Thanks so much!

Reply

Haha very creative!!!

So jealous you are actually have summer like weather, Oregon doesn’t usually get the summer warmth memo till August and then it busts a move outta here around Labor Day…not cool.

Reply

I bet you looked amazing on your run.

Once I forgot shorts when I went to the gym, so I ended up running in my booty short underwear…I polled the ladies in the gym locker room to see if they could tell they were just underwear. Apparently, you couldn’t.

Reply

That is one sexy outfit! :)

Last run was good except for the monsoon like weather! I’m running in the a.m. so taking it easy tonight with yoga.

Favorite all time breakfast is oatmeal. I can eat it hot even when it’s 95 degrees out!

Reply

Now that DOES sound like the hottest running outfit EVER ;)
I hope you enjoyed your afternoon with your nieces & nephew! Can you eat a donut for me too please??
Favorite breakfast food: Right now (you know how the pregnancy cravings change constantly ;) )…is biscuits & grape jelly. Odd, huh? but I cannot get enough of buttery biscuits. YUM.
Workout ended up being great today, took some motivation to get me to the gym, but once I got there I was pumped!!

Reply

You are too funny. You remind me of a friend whom I live waayy too far from, so I thoroughly enjoy reading your blog. Great job on that 10-miler, mama!

Reply

Three quarters?! I only got a dime! My tooth fairy was cheap!

Reply

The tooth fairy must love me more:)

Reply

Today was a rest day, but yesterday’s run(s) were both awesome! I LOVE the good runs!

Best post-run food is waffles with mountains of fresh fruit… mmmm :)

Reply

Dang, I sure wish you would have modeled that outfit for us!!

I’m really diggin’ breakfast pizza right now. Sausage, bacon, eggs, cheese, hashbrown style potatoes on pizza crust with some salsa….so good.

I tried to wait until I went to my Nana’s to lose a tooth, because her fairy was more generous. I’d get some change at my house, but like 3-5 dollars at her’s!

Reply

My run was AWESOME today! I too did more than I should. I have a 5K on Saturday and was planning on …well, my scheduled run in my 10K training is a 3.5, but I ended up doing the weeks long run of 4.5 today. OOPS! But it felt too good to stop :)

Reply

I absolutely love your nieces. THey are beautiful!

Reply

Hot mama! I can only imagine how attractive that outfit was.

My favorite breakfast is french toast and eggs, but I love most breakfast foods.

Reply

LOL! Janae, I love how you keep it real on the blog :) Seriously hilarious and awesome! Proof that NOTHING can stop you from getting in your runs!!

Reply

Hi Janae- long time reader here and decided it was time to leave my first comment:)
I just wanted to say you are super inspiring. Thanks for sharing your pregnancy running journey with us! The Spanx thing is exactly the type of random small things that help your readers out. I was not successful at all with running during my pregnancy but with your ideas and inspiration I hope to rock it during the next one:)
PS- congrats on your move to Santa Clara! I grew up in the bay and I think you will really love it!

Reply

ANGELA!! Your comment absolutely made my day, thank you so much for your sweet words! I will continue to post about my randomness and I am glad it is helping:) How old is your kid? Was it easy for you to get back into running?

My daughter turns 3 this summer. To be honest, it took me a full year just to figure out my life and how to fit in workouts with a stressful full time job. Once I started running consistently, it took about six months to start feeling “normal” again. Everybody’s different but for me the biggest obstacle was the mommy guilt we all hear about… I can’t say I have found a way to manage it yet:)

Reply

Can’t believe you’re still working out! You’re awesome and inspirational girl!

Reply

My run was a good one! I normally do not like running after work, but this evening I flew!

Reply

Love your running outfit – way to go for improvising on the belt!

I’m hoping my run tomorrow is a good one and that it’s not too humid out!

Reply

Now that you are pregs and running at your “comfortable” pace, I should come visit you and we can run together…that’s not creepy or anything, haha! I ran four miles this morning and it was pure hell the entire time, capped off with a blister popping at the end.

Reply

Ah your blog makes me hungry all the time and makes me develop new cravings (I’m currently 4.5 months pregnant).

Current favorite breakfast food is pancakes slathered in raspberry jam or plain bagels toasted with egg ,cheese, mayo and pepper sandwiched in between!

I am so getting one of those belly bands! And no weird running outfits for me. I’m boring and wear capris and t shirts.
Glad u can continue to run pain free now :)

Reply

You are so adorable. You always make me smile.

Reply

My run was not so good. I tripped twice! I never trip. One was a slow motion falling forward, trying not to fall on my face trip. Graceful.

What did you get from the tooth fairy when you lost a tooth as a kid? My girls got $2 each. Apparently, our tooth fairy is cheap according to my younger daughter. Darn economy.

Reply

I hope you took pictures in the outfit for yourself to laugh at later! That’s awesome and so cute! It must have felt incredible to run 10 miles!
My favorite breakfast is pancakes, waffles, or French toast with fresh berries and Cool Whip. Soo good. I could eat it for every meal.

Reply

LOL! This is so great. Whatever works for you, do it! :)

Guess what is arriving at my house tomorrow— a C900 Nordic Track Treadmill! Oh yeah! Thanks for the recommendation- my husband and I are stoked because the HUMIDITY has set in here in Memphis and running outside is tough!

Reply

Ahhhh so happy for you!!! Let me know what you think of it!

Reply

I always end up getting some sort of egg Benedict plate when I go to brunch! I’m a sucker for hollandaise sauce! Love that stuff!

Reply

I got a quarter per tooth. and it was so. much. money back then!

my favorite everyday breakfast is a mix of yogurt, soy milk, uncooked oats, chia seeds and cherries. my favorite breakfast this sunday was chocolate chip birthday pancakes. :-)

I LOVE the arrangement of workout gear so we could partake in your delightful self without you having to post any inappropriate photos on the blog. hahaha.

Reply

I always got $2 for each tooth! Can we go back to that time for just a second and pretend I save all of it so I have it now, no? Favorite breakfast is a “breakfast sandwich” :toasted bread, one side grape jelly, one side cheese, with fried egg and maybe ham or bacon. Yum. Run today was AWESOME! It was day 4 for my June Running Streak so my quads are SO sore! But I was proud of my first mile at 9:34- oh yeah! I’m super slow, so this perks me up!

Reply

The “tooth fairy” used to leave me and my brothers a dollar and a pack of either Zebra Stripe gum or Watermelon Bubblicious. Oh, the good old’ days!

I was able to run my first sub-9:00 mile since college (for two whole miles)! I know that’s not blazing by any means, but I was so pumped when I finished!

Reply

I had a great run yesterday- 4 miles with some intervals thrown in…great way to kick-start my 25th year :)

Reply

Hey girl! LOVE the running outfit, haha so awesome!! im glad its working for you until the belt gets there! I have a bit of a favor to ask you… im having a bit of a runners crisis…and I need a running guru to talk to , so you are the perfect person!! can we meet up tomorrow or wed sometime? preferably at a yogurt place of your choice?! I have a few questions I need help with and just someone to calm my fears of my recent choice….if you cant meet up, just email and well talk there! thanks girl!!

Reply

Okay, seriously I run in Spanx all the time (at home on the treadmill of course). I do because my stomach is all jacked from having twins. Love them though. :) good idea as pregnancy support. Wish I would’ve thought of that. Thank you for showing carpet stains. I have them all over my house. Ha! :)

Reply

This made my and my husband laugh so much, haha!

Reply

yay for the good 10 mile run! My weirest outfit is also spandex and a sports bra when I am riding the trainer in my house. Except since they are spandex bibs they are like overalls with a sports bra. Not so attractive haha

My run was NOT good today. tired tired legs. I felt good after though!

I’ve been stuck in a smoothy rut for breakfast but i could take a pancake or two..

I always got one dollar from the tooth fairy.

Reply

Haha, I can only imagine how AMAZING you looked in that getup!

Reply

I always rip my shirt off if I’m running on the treadmill inside..it’s so freeing, ha! I love how you’re still running while pregnant, you’ll bounce back in a day after the baby comes! I really admire it and hope to be that way if I ever am pregnant, my mom trained and competed in triathlons untile 6mons pregnant with us kids.
