Run Happy and Eat BBQ Happy

I made it to NYC safe and sound (so stop worrying mom) and everything has been perfect. PS before reading this post I should warn you that I am writing from my iPad so just go into this knowing there will be major grammar/spelling errors:)

After a quick change at the hotel we headed over to the Brooks Run Happy event. PPS isn’t their slogan perfect….they not only focus on having incredible products for runners but making sure we are happy as we run. Judging by the fact that I usually get bugs stuck in my teeth when I run because I am smiling so big, I love this theme. Don’t run sad.

We got to learn all about their products and I loved their NightLife products! They want to make sure that we are seen and safe when we are running at night, dusk or dawn!

Give that jacket to me now.

Purple and a ponytail hole in the hood!!!!

Just playing around with science stuff. Don’t be too jealous Billy.

Hello beautiful Glycerins.

I would like you to meet my next pair of shoes. Don’t tell me that you don’t have a list taped to your bedroom wall with the next ten pairs or shoes that you want on it too.

I think Theodora won… I let her;)

We also got to choose a new running playlist to take home with us.

How could I forget about these? I had at least 38 or these little hor dourves. Fancy people food is delicious but it takes eating a lot of them to notice you have eaten anything.

The event ended at 8 and Meghann, Jenn, Theodora, Jess and I went on a hunt for food.

We ended up at a BBQ joint…mmmm messy food. I had some brisket, 2 pork ribs and of course Mac and cheese.

It is late and the baby is kicking like crazy (she clearly loves Mac and cheese) and I am laying in a big comfy bed watching America’s Best Dance Crew, time for bed!

Hello, belly button.

I haven’t had a bagel yet which is really hurting my heart. That just means I have to eat three for breakfast this morning.
——————————–

Do you have a tv in your bedroom?

– No, but I love having one in hotels right by my bed!

If you have a blog where do you usually blog?

– On my couch with the computer on the coffee table.

Do you have night running gear? Do you need it or do you only run when it is light out?

Do you ever eat at BBQ joints? What do you get there?

How fun! I’ve been running in Brooks For years & just got the Glycerin 10s. I’m going for my first run in them this morning. I’m going to have to get that purple jacket too so cute!

Reply

Seriously we all need that beautiful jacket! Let me know how your run goes in your new glycerine! I am addicted!

Reply

I am terrified of running at night. I used to run outside in the morning during the winter, but in the spring raccoons started coming out which scared me half to death….so I stick to the treadmill if it’s dark :)
HAVE FUN in NYC! So jealous! I’ve actually never been there!

Reply

Raccoons are crazy scary!!! You need to come to NYC as soon as possible!

Reply

Welcome to NYC! You’ve picked a perfect day to come- the sky is so blue! :)

I love bbq- especially Mac and Cheese. Whilst you are here- you must get cupcakes too (I insist!) :)

Run Happy!

Reply

I love barbeque sauce but have fewer options since I became a vegetarian – I still eat it on tofu, tempeh, french fries & veggie burgers!

Reply

Never, ever run sad, always run happy! Lol

Loving all the neon and reflective stuff- it makes you look fast IMO. :)

Reply

I’ve been eyeing those PureCadence too! I used to have a TV by my bed in college when I had roommates, that let me watch wayyy too much tv, and take too many naps if there is such a thing.

Reply

Soo fun. Do you use blogsy to blog on your iPad?
No no tv in the bedroom for us.

Reply

I haven’t eaten in a BBQ joint in FOREVER but that needs to change asap! I love how messy it gets and the fact that everyone else around you had bbq glaze all over their face mwahahah! Better make that 4 bagels which you need to eat for breakfast because 1 is on my behalf :)!

Reply

Oh my Gosh, my inner running Geek is incredibly jealous right now, I would have been the dork who had to stop and read every single poster :) Looks lik eyou’re having an awesome trip – keep the updates coming so I can pretend I went too!! :)

I don’t have a tv in my room. I heard somewhere that it’s bad for married couples to have a tv in their room. That could be a myth, but our house is small, so why not just go to the living room to watch tv?

I have some night running gear from Brooks and an awesome half zip from New Balance.

Go get yourself a bagel!

I have a TV in my bedroom. It’s just hooked up to the DVD player, though.

I have a standing desk next to my window, so I usually blog from there!

I only run when it’s light out…if it’s dark, I hit the treadmill.

The best BBQ I’ve ever had was in San Antonio, TX. I’m a fan of bbq chicken!

Reply

Looks like an awesome event!! I’ve never tried Brooks before…I may have to look into them. I’m always gunshy to try a new brand because I have kind of specific feet–HIGH arch and wide foot.

And speaking of clothes to wear while running at night, I just bought this awesome Fila shirt at Kohls–it’s that neon yellow color AND it actually glows in the dark!!

Reply

ooh. Good to know. I actually do run at night. My clothes should light up and blink.

Reply

We just put this huge 32″ tv in our bedroom last night, and the husband loves it. I find it to be a little too big and bright.

I’ve never ran at night, for some reason I just freak out.

And I love BBQ! Savannah doesn’t really have a real “smoke-house BBQ” place like I’m used to back home, but we have a Shane’s Rib Shack and it tastes soooo good!

Reply

Looks like such a fun opportunity!
I LOVE their slogan, Run happy. My hubby bought me a running shirt that says it, but I can’t bring myself to run in it! Instead I wear it like a regular shirt!
In winter, almost every run I do is in the dark.

Reply

I usually blog at work (naughty I know!) because I love my iMac computer there. It’s my little therapy in the mornings in between checking my emails and eating my oatmeal before I get rolling.

Everyone knows Texas BBQ is the best! Not that I’m bias or anything.

That Brooks event looks like SO much fun! I like wearing bright/reflective wear if I’m running at night, but typically I’m a morning runner.

Reply

That jacket is awesome. I’m glad you are having fun East Coast style! I love their slogan too. I want some posters and what not with it!

Reply

run happy is the best slogan ever! i love my pure cadence, i highly recommend them. they are a good step toward a minimalist shoe but with enough cushioning that it’s not too hard on my joints since i mainly run on roads.

no tv in my bedroom! i have trouble sleeping so my doc told me to keep my bedroom just for sleep and do tv watching, reading or work somewhere else. it helps!

Reply

what a cool party!!! Ahhhh so jealous!

Reply

I thought I was the only one who got bugs in their teeth because I smile so big when I run! I’m glad to hear I’m not alone! ;)

Reply

Looks like so much fun! I am going to be purchasing a new pair of running shoes in the next couple weeks and I am leaning towards Brooks!

Reply

That event looks like SO MUCH FUN!!! Run Happy is a GREAT slogan and GREAT message!! Why run if you’re not happy doing it? Better question… how could you not be happy doing it (most the time!)???

Reply

We sure do and I am pretty sure I would die without it in there. haha
In our office on my laptop.
I do have a jacket with reflective strips but never run in the dark, I am too sacred to!
Hope NYC is treating you well!

Reply

Looks like you were at Hill Country BBQ?? We have one here in DC and I love it, a friend is actually using them to cater her upcoming wedding. And yes, the mac and cheese is DA BOMB!!! :) Hope you’re enjoying your quick trip to NYC! Come to DC soon – would love to meet you!!!

Reply

That BBQ looks amazing and I am super jealous you get to look at all the new gear!
We do have a TV in the bedroom, but that is so I can watch trashy reality shows and don’t have to subject the husband to it.
My FAVE night runner gear is a neon orange Saucony jacket complete with a detachable light that clips to the sleeve. It is my current favorite running jacket, but in real life I have only worn it about twice for running in the dark.

Reply

I don’t have a TV in my room but I, too, love having one in my hotel room. However, I keep watching it even when I’m tired so it’s probably a good thing to not have one in my room.

I usually blog during lunch at work or on my couch at home in the evening. I am not a consistent blogger because sometimes I work while eating lunch or I don’t have time at night, but those are the only options.

When I was training for Marine Corps last year I did my long runs at 4:30am and it was pitch black out. I was terrified but went anyway. I wore a reflective vest and a head-lamp so I could see. I was always afraid someone would jump out of the bushes and grab me but it never happened. I didn’t have to worry too much about getting hit by cars or anything – I usually never saw a car until around 7am anyway, I guess people really sleep in on Saturdays!

I have only eaten at a BBQ once and I think I got pulled pork sandwich, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. Yummy stuff!

I love that your belly button sticks out – mine still hasn’t popped yet.

Looks like you’re having a great time in NYC!

We used to have a tv in our room, but we switched services and it didn’t work anymore and we didn’t bother to set it up.

I blog from my desk in the living room because we only have a desktop computer.

Reply

Looks like you had so much fun!!
You better have eaten some bagels this morning!
No TV in my bedroom, I like to read before bed :)
I usually blog during my lunch break at work.

See you soon!!!

Reply

I have the Brooks Pure Cadence and I LOVE them. They are so light, yet they provide a tiny bit of stability.

Reply

What a cool event! I love that purple jacket!!!

We do have a tv in the bedroom, but it doesn’t have cable or anything so we can only watch dvds on it (all the seasons of FRIENDS and king of queens!).

I rarely eat at bbq joints because we cook bbq quite often. Let’s be honest, ours is way better!!!

Reply

I normally blog on the couch on my iPad. Not the greatest but it works!

For night running, I have some knuckle lights!

Reply

Looks like you are having such a great time! I always blog on my couch with a blanket, my oatmeal and my coffee :) I don’t have night running gear only because I don’t ever run at night.. I’m a morning runner all the way. It’s my favorite way to start my day! I hope you get your bagel soon!!

Reply

Looks like so much fun!! Love the shoes!

I used to have a tv in my room and I disliked it so now I don’t! I’m not a big tv watcher anyway.

I have a few nighttime running things including a bright orange vest. I enjoy running at night but sometimes it gets scary.

I usually blog on my couch with my laptop or at work (Shhh!)

Reply

i LOVE Brooks shoes… i have the Ghost4s, and they’re the best pair i’ve ever owned. it looks like you’re having a blast!
i always blog from my couch too – usually in my pajamas. i even have my designated place on the couch that i blog. :) i know, pretty classy.

Reply

We have a BBQ place called Black Dog and it is to dieeeee for! I love all their food, but Wednesday’s their special is Cuban sandwiches. I am drooling at the mouth just thinking about them… too bad it’s Thursday haha :(

Reply

Looks like you’re having fun!!

All of my weekday runs during the school year are at 5 am, outside. My favorite night running gear is my rechargeable Black Diamond headlamp that is SUPER bright, but you can dim it if you want. It also has a red flashing light on the back that can be turned off if you don’t want it.

I also love my amphipod reflective running belt thingy. Easy to use. That Brooks gear looks very cool. I’ll have to check it out.

Reply

No tv or computers in any of our bedrooms. I usually sit on the couch in my media room and blog.
We have awesome BBQ in Texas and are blessed with good friends who smoke the best brisket. Ever.
I have a clip on light and wear obnoxiously bright shoes and clothes.

Reply

wooohoo, i love my brooks! i’ve been eyeing the pure line but I know with my injuries the best thing is support and cushioning for now so i’m thinking i’ll be stockpiling glycerins for marathon training (im still in the 9s but i love em!)

we have a small 19″ flat panel in our bedroom but kevin keeps trying to convince me to buy a bigger one. i think its silly when we have a huge flat panel in our living room.

i always blog on my living room couch, knees up, feet up on the table, laptop firmly in my lap :)

i have night running gear, especially for later runs in the fall…i have a headlamp, reflective jackets and reflective shirts. I’ve also used the headlamp on EARLY morning runs when its still dark outside. i love it, and im way too much of a klutz to run in the dark without light..its hard enough for me to keep my balance in the daylight.

Reply

I have tried so many brands and so many shoes and brooks pure cadence are by far my favorite! have a good trip

Reply

Glad to see you’re having fun! We do have a TV in our bedroom but hardly ever watch it. I usually blog in my kitchen. I seem to be in there all day!

Reply

I usually blog either on my bed or on the couch. All about comfort :)

Reply

I usually blog at the kitchen table or from my couch. Somedays, when I’m feeling really adventurous, I’ll take it outside and write on my patio. But that’s rare.

LOVE the ponytail hole!

Reply

I blog from my computer desk most of the time. My laptop is so slow that I only use it when I need to.

Reply

1. SO awesome to meet you!
2. How do you blog from iPad??? I didn’t know that was possible.

Reply

P.S. I changed your flight for you. It’s never.

Reply

Living in Texas there are tons of barbeque places to choose from! I always get brisket when we go and try out all the different barbeque sauces.

I wish I had a laptop to blog from so I could do so from the comfort of the couch while watching TV, but sadly it gets done in our office. :( I need to remedy this soon!

Reply

Love that jacket! Must. Not. Buy.

Reply

I hope you are having a wonderful time! Which BBQ spot did you go to? Hill Country?

Love that jacket!

Reply

Loving the ponytail holder in the hood, what a cool idea. Looks like it was an awesome event!

We do not have a TV in our bedroom nor do we want one, but sometimes we bring a laptop to bed and watch netflix.

Reply

the whole brooks tour looks so rad! love nyc.

Reply

Do you have a tv in your bedroom? Yes. I usually watch it a little before bed.

If you have a blog where do you usually blog? At my dining room table.

Do you ever eat at BBQ joints? What do you get there? I’m from KC! Home of the best BBQ anywhere! But I’m vegetarian. LOL! My family loves Gates BBQ. I always get steak fries with Sweet Mild sauce for dipping and strawberry pop. Yum!

Reply

This trip looks like so much fun! All of that Brooks gear has me drooling over my computer!

We have a TV in our room–my husband and I usually try to watch TV together, but sometimes it’s nice to have options when he’s been watching sports for 37 straight hours!

I usually blog on our couch, but sometimes it’s really nice to head out to Starbucks.

I don’t usually do much night running, but my husband just completed a night run and said it was a blast! The latest I’ve run has been 8:00, but he’s trying to get me to go out with him at 10:30. Silly boy!

Reply

You must be having so much fun!

I don’t usually run when it is dark…I will go to the gym and use the treadmill unless the hubby can run with me! Which is rare since his ankle injury!

Reply

If I’m with my parents I always blog at the kitchen table with some sort of hot beverage. If I’m at my apartment, I blog sprawled out on the floor b/c my internet cord only reaches so far, lol.

Reply

Now that we live in BBQ country (Georgia) I am around good BBQ a lot! I like chicken BBQ (shredded) on a sandwich bun. I love baked beans too!!

Reply

I love all things Brooks. I have been running in the Pure Flow and Connect, and just got a “Run Happy” shirt. LOVE it!

Reply

That jacket is awesome!! The best part…the ponytail hole! Seriously amazing :) Looks like you are having a fun trip…I hope you get your NYC bagel soon!!

Reply

I don’t have a TV in my room. I have heard that it actually can cause people to not sleep as well. Something to do with seeing the blue lights right before bed or something.. I don’t know, I personally fall asleep best when I try to read in bed.

I blog while sitting on the couch, but my kitty is making it impossible lately (he likes to walk along the keys) so I think I will have to start using the table..

Reply

My next pair of shoes will be those pink Pures! Love the color!

Reply

I LOVE that run happy slogan and that poster!!! And how thoughtful is it to put a ponytail hole in a hood!?! Genius!
Me thinks I need to get my hands on that!

Reply

Fun, fun, fun! You look absolutely gorgeous in all of the pictures and so happy. :) I love it!

Enjoy the rest of your trip and get yourself a bagel already!

Reply

Fun!!! I ended up in Boston – go get that bagel now! NOTHING beats a warm NY bagel.

Reply

i have the Pure Connects and LOVE them. Hood with a ponytail is best idea ever.

Reply

Ahhh those shoes are great! I’d LOVE to try them! I hope you got your bagels this a.m., missy ;)

Love that running slogan – running makes me happy so it is always true!
I have a TV in my room but rarely use it – I prefer to sit on the couch and watch it/blog at the same time.

Reply

Go to the Breslin at the Ace Hotel and try the lamb burger! You will be so happy you did! And get the fries with it.

Reply

Looks like you guys are having so much fun! I’m jealous! ;)

Yes, I love BBQ places. There’s an awesome one in Nashville. I usually get the ribs, but I also love the pulled pork. So delicious!

Reply

So jealous of your Brooks trip! I love the Pure Cadence and swear by Brooks :) Glad you’re having an awesome time!

Reply

Looks like you had a great time! How did you end up going to the Brooks event?

Reply

I am a Brooks Ambassador now wahoo:)

Reply

That’s fabulous! What does that mean?

Reply

This looks so cool. For the life of me I can’t decide between three different pair of Brooks. This would have really helped!

Reply

Such a cool event! I have a post-it taped to my computer monitor at work of all the running shoes I want. I figure since I work with my Husband and Parents it is the best way for them to choose a great gift ;)

Reply

I own two pairs of the PureCadence and they have made a huge difference in my running. I don’t even need to use my orthodics in them – I tried and it was overkill. The arch support was great on its own. And I love the minimalist feel with the 4 mm drop. Best running shoes I’ve ever worn.

Reply

Yes tv in the bedroom is a must….I have to watch GMA in the mornings and sometimes late night tv.
I usually blog from my couch with my laptop on a tv tray watching tv.
Looks like you are having a great time in NYC. Have a bagel for me!

Reply

I worked out with my Run Happy towel this morning. I just love the Brooks slogan (and of course my Pure Cadence shoes)!!!

Looks like a super fun night. I don’t eat much BBQ, but the best BBQ chicken Nachos I have EVER eaten were in Memphis TN when I used to live there. Along with the fried pickles and sweet potato pie, the food was real good!

Reply

Running at night is one of my favorite times to run. So I make sure my gear has a lot of reflectors on them. In addition to what’s on the gear, I usually add a few reflector strips on my arms.

Reply

I’m obsessed with my Brooks Ghosts. I settled for the 4’s even though the 5’s were much cuter. But, I chose to get the 20% off of the older version…hello being thrifty. So jealous of your trip! That purple hoodie is genius!
