I didn’t get to the gym until about 11 this morning and when I jumped on my favorite elliptical (the one with the fan right above it and the best spot to people watch) something awful happened.
The Food Network was turned on and the show that was on was ALL about donuts. Yes, that would be a peacock donut sculpture:
Watching the judges taste test and talk about how amazing the donuts were was torture but since donuts have been my favorite food for a while I felt like I owed it to them to continue to watch.
After I finished 60 minutes on the elliptical I went straight up to the Mall’s food court to meet my mom. I had a Subway with black forest ham on Italian herbs and cheese bread. I used to only order wheat bread at Subway but I tried a bite of Billy’s sandwich once upon a time and he had this bread and I refuse to ever go back.
The best part of the meal was the Chick-fil-A lemonade. We got smalls and I would just go back and get a refill every 3-4 minutes. We are both hooked on that stuff.
We ended up sitting and chatting for a long time and only a few people would stare at my sweatiness and gym attire (at least I put a shirt on over).
I am coming up with ways to kidnap my mom and take her to California with us when we move, if you have any ideas on how to successfully get her to move with us please email me.
On the agenda for the rest of the day:
1. Paint my nails this color:
2. Carb load with pizza for tomorrows race.
3. Go pick-up my race packet…I LOVE race expos.
4. Go to bed early for my 4 a.m. wake-up call.
My goal for next week is to have an interesting life again and do something other than eat, exercise and watch television.
——————————————–
What is on the agenda for the rest of your day?
Do you ever watch the Food Network channel? What is your favorite show on the Food Network?
When you use the elliptical, what program do you set it on? Do you include intervals etc or just go at the same pace?
-I am so boring and just use manual and go the same pace the entire time. Next week when I am interesting again I will try and throw in some intervals.

yumm +1 on the italian herb bread- so much better than wheat! I usually set the elliptical to manual also- but i change the ramp and resistance to make my own intervals. I don’t know how you last an hour on there- I get so bored by 35 minutes haha.
Good luck tomorrow!
Janae
So glad you agree with me on the italian herb bread. I am going to have to copy you on changing up the ramp and resistance. Thanks so much Morgan and have an amazing weekend!
Allison @ The Life and Loves of Allison Fay
One of my favorite parts of the race is the expo- there is so much energy and excitement, plus lots of fun running gear to sample and buy. It’s a run-nerd’s dream!
Janae
Seriously it really is a run-nerd’s dream! I could go to them every weekend!
Brandi
Hitting the treadmill when I get home from work, shower, eat dinner, and then chill out with a movie…..Crazy Stupid Love. :)
Anytime that I am on an eliptical, I just use the manual too!
Janae
Have an amazing run and enjoy the movie and relaxing…weekends are the best.
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats
My nails are that color!!

Tess

Renee
I have been loving sandwiches lately.
Good luck on your race!! I’ve never ran a race with a good expo, in fact I’ve only run one race with one…I should change that :)
Janae
I cannot stop eating sandwiches, I crave them all day long ha. Thanks so much Renee and yes we need to get you to some awesome race expos:)
Erin
I did the elliptical today too! I do intervals to switch it up and read us weekly, people and in touch to kill the time. I like the flatbread at Subway, I have not tried the cheese bread I will have to.
Race expos are the best…have fun!
Janae
Today must have been the day for the elliptical:) I have never tried the flatbread and now you have me wanting to go back to Subway for dinner.
Erin

well lucky for us, we’re one of those being affected by the fire in saratoga springs/eagle mountain. i’m just KIND OF freaking out! i think i’ll be at the AF half tomorrow morning! one of my friends is running it, and i’m going to cheer her on! maybe i’ll see you there!
Janae
OH ASHLEY!! I am truly so so sorry about the fire! Where are you going to stay? YES, please please find me…I would love to finally meet you!
Nicole
I do the same on the ellipitical… When I can stand to use it. I was obsessed with it a few years ago, now it’s just boring to me. You made my mouth water for a donut! I don’t have a race, but DO hope to get a morning run in before it gets hot.
Janae
I used to do the elliptical daily a few years ago too! I think you need to get a donut asap!
Sneha @ Geeky Runner
OMG Donuts! Love them! And yes Italian Herbs and Cheese is the only way to go at Subway. Other breads are just meh!
After I get off work today, I will go home and paint my nails too for the race tomorrow. I wanna show off my nail color when I hold the finisher medal ;) How silly am I :P I am doing the Rock n Roll Seattle half tomorrow.
Good luck for your race Janae! You will rock, OBVIOUSLY! :D
Janae
I think we need to go to Subway and get donuts together:) GOOD LUCK IN SEATTLE TOMORROW…I want to hear all about it!
Lindsey
Chick-fil-A lemondate = heaven sent. So glad you love it too! I think the next time I come down we need to go on a Chick-fil-A date!
Janae
YES PLEASE!! You better not be kidding with me. Okay, your pictures on your blog are incredible. Teach me your skills! I am so happy you loved your cruise and I agree about how nice it is to not have any technology (phones etc) while you are out on a cruise!
Lindsey
You are so cute, it’s official- date night next time I’m in town!! And maybe someday my blog will as great as yours, but probably not. Good luck on your race!!
Beth @ Miles and Trials
I don’t watch the Food Network, too tempting. I have a hard enough time when food commercials come on during my shows, I can’t imagine watching a show all about food! :)
I haven’t been on the elliptical in forever. Luckily my injuries have stayed away long enough for me to get some great running in the past few months. So grateful for that!
Janae
SO HAPPY YOU are getting in some awesome running. Oh yes, food commercials get me every single time!
Erin Masihdas
What a lovely morning!!! My agenda for the rest of the day involves driving to St George!!!!!!! So excited to spend the weekend down there!!
I LOVE the Food Network. Lately I have been loving Next Food Network Star. I want to be able to cook like they do!!!!! I also love any of Giada’s shows and Alton Brown’s show can be so interesting. And I love Jamie Oliver. And Bobby Flay. Ok. Basically I love it all. Can I quit my day job and become a Food Network chef?!
Have a lovely afternoon and good luck with the race tomorrow!!!!
Janae
Have so much fun in St. George! I absolutely love it down there, it is so beautiful! I really think you should be a Food Network chef….then you could test out all of your recipes on me:) Thanks so much Erin!
Holly
That peacock is AWESOME! I kind of wish it was sitting right here so that I could eat it ;)
GOOD LUCK at the race tomorrow- enjoy your run!!!!
I’m boring too with the elliptical- the only thing I really do is go forward & backwards- I switch it up every 5 minutes or so ….just to keep it kind of interesting, otherwise I find it SO boring….but right now sometimes it’s my option.
& that’s my favorite subway bread too..it’s the only one I will get…I hate when they run out of it.
Shay @ Whine Less, Breathe More
A donuts peacock? Brilliant! I would love to try and eat my way through that thing. So wrong but oh so right!
What is on the agenda for the rest of your day? I was going to head to the BIG city so my daughter could visit Old Navy store, but now she has a friend over so I guess that will have to wait until tomorrow. No other plans tonight. It’s cold and rainy here. Super exciting Friday night!
Megan @ Run Like a Grl
The food network always gets me hungry for goodies! And I usually end up watching it at night.. bad idea! My fav shows are Chopped and Driners, Drive ins and Dives. I’ve found some cool restaurants from that show!
Love that Essie color!
Megan@ The Running Doc
I love intervals on the elliptical. Or simply increasing the resistance every few minutes until I’m up to the max!
Abby @ZestyNerd.blogspot.com
I made a turkey sculpture out of fruit, for Thanksgiving of course, but donuts bring food bird sculptures to a new level of awesome!
Agenda is to study for my board exams for the rest of the night. Boring but necessary.
Kristen @ notsodomesticated
Love Food Network!!! I think Cupcake Wars is my favorite!!
Good luck on your race tomorrow! Kick some booty, but also pay attention to how that baby of yours is feeling! ;)
Kerri
I can’t believe you made it thru that entire workout watching all about donuts! Way to go, girl! I think I woulda high tailed it to the closest donut shop!
I love the food network, but wouldn’t dream of watching while I was working out!
Good luck tomorrow!! Your baby’s run more half marathons than I have!!! (Ok, that’s not saying much since I just ran my first two weeks ago!)

Naomi M
That’s pretty much my life right now-eat, run, watch TV! Your inspired me and I went to the Corner Bakery for dinner! (Also right across the street from me..I may live in the best place ever!) So good! I love the Food Network! I love Chopped the most, but I also like watching the cake competition shows because of how amazing they look.
Sarah
Just wanted to let you know, your constant talk of lemon aide has made me crave it just as much! I’m not even pregnant! Good luck tomorrow!
Kelly
Today my friend and I went and got some new TOMS and then watched a documentary on Princess Kate and Prince William. I love Giada’s show on The Food Network. :) I always set the elliptical to the interval setting and then every ten minutes switch between going forward or backwards. Good luck at your Half Marathon Janae!

Bethany
I usually set the elliptical to as HIGH as I can!! and just go for it until I am super sweaty and DYING!
Meghan Rene @ Uncooked & UnWalked
Hmmm…. our days seemed strikingly similar! Our cable network doesn’t carry Food Network (isn’t that awful) bc of some fight they had. But the nail salon across the street does!
Off to my race this AM – good luck to you and have a blast!
Susan
Almost-but-not-even-close parallel lives! I too will be doing my nails today and prepping for a race tomorrow (BAA 10k).
Amanda @FancyOatmeal
I didn’t even have to read today’s blog to know the answer to the title: without hesistation or exception: DONUTS!!!!!
natalie@ southern fit foodie
Oh I love the FN! My favorite shows are Chopped and anything with Bobby Flay. I really like all the shows, but not so much the cupcake wars or cake competitions.
My day – farmers market this morning (done), working out, my niece’s wedding tonight and then the reception with DANCING!
Sara @ Running In Pink
omg the Husband and I routinely watch food network on Friday nights and then wonder why we are so hungry before bed! Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives is always on all night Friday night’s but our favorite is Chopped. I think the only thing we love more than running is food…
MR DETERMINED
I like any show on the food newwork with Anna Olsen or Alton Brown. However my favorite show on the food network is Iron Chef.
Kari @ Running Ricig
My agenda yesterday was run, pack, go to NJ for a wedding. It was a jam-packed day.
You and your mom are awesome.

That doughnut peacock is awesome!
