Favorite Summer Activity

I found my new favorite summer activity.  I think I enjoyed the slide more than Curly did but she was a good sport to go on it over and over again with me.  I would tell the life guard at the top that she was the one wanting to keep going down to save myself from embarrassment.  We got some serious speed going down that thing.

After the slide I was minding my own business enjoying my perfect pear when all of the sudden she came over and finished it off.  Her cuteness allows her to get away with a lot of things.

I had my beloved lemonade and drank it in about 5 seconds.  You know you are pregnant when just seeing the spicy chicken mcbites on your cup made you crave them badly and text your husband to tell him that you needed to get them ASAP.

The sweet pork nachos were exactly what I needed and we probably will be ordering them more often.

Random food aversion:  black beans.

And for dessert, Andrea from Salt Lake City Bakery sent me the most delicious macaroons.  These would be the perfect gift (to give to other people and yourself of course).  They were by far the best macaroons that I have ever had.

Looks like you and Curly had a great time at the pool!

We just ate at Mellow Mushroom two nights in a row last weekend. Their pizza is seriously the best EVER.

I had 2 long runs this past week (Sunday and Friday) but will probably do another one Sunday to keep it consistent, lol. I don’t think we’ve eaten at the same place 2 nights in a row but perhaps have eaten the leftovers the next night…does that count? Our favorite restaurant since moving to where we are now has been this Indian place called Pooja…we totally act like Bob in “What About Bob?”…hopefully you’ve seen that movie so you know what I’m talking about, lol. Only time I really can eat beans is if it’s black beans in a burrito or refried beans as a side at this Mexican restaurant we sometimes go to. We didn’t watch the trials last night because we went out for Thai and to see Dan Sperry’s magic show in NYC with my hubby’s family but I love watching the balance beam and floor routines in particular. Happy Saturday!

I’m in Shanghai for work so I’m going to try to do 18 tomorrow through the city without getting lost! And I’m hopeful the smog will lift so I can breathe better.
I will totally eat at the same place 2 nights in a row but my husband fights me on it, he likes lots of variety.
I didn’t see the trials since I’m in China…

We watched the trials last night, too! I caught some swimming and gymnastics. Gosh those gymnasts are young.
I happen to adore beans and we eat them several times a week – red beans, pinto, great northern, or black beans mainly. My personal favorite is pinto with jalapenos.

I love beans, especially in salads! Do chickpeas count? If so they’re my #1!

I watched the trials last night. I did gymnastics crazy hardcore until I fractured my back when I was 17.
I am rooting for Jordan Wieber because she is from my home state and I use to compete against her club! Woooo Michigan! But, I also LOVE Gabby Douglas- she is amazing and adorable!

No runs this weekend- my mom is in town, so taking her to my drop zone for a skydive :)

I LOVE gymnastics!! That is my favorite part of the Olympics. I’m not sure which part is my favorite, I like floor and the uneven bars. But I also like the balance beam because I cannot believe the things they can do on that tiny little bar!

Reply

Go Jordyn Weiber! She’s from the town next to mine, so it’s like we’re best friends. ;) Long run Sunday. Now I’m craving nachos…

There is a 10k this weekend but I am not running it. Going to be 105 degrees today. So I am heading to the gym.
I probably have eaten at the same place two nights in a row. But it doesn’t come to mind.
I watched some of the Trails last night. Not nearly as exciting (to me) as the Track and Field.

aren’t all the crazy fires around scary and so sad?! ugh it breaks my heart. AND it’s only the beginning of summer, so i can’t imagine what the rest of the summer is going to be like.
i’ve never had cafe rio’s nachos! obviously i need to get on that pronto. they look amazing. i can’t remember if i’ve eaten at the same restaurant two nights in a row, but if i ever have, it’s been cafe rio. ;)

Was supposed to do the Wasatch Back Marathon 2-man relay today… instead am in the hospital doing treatments to not be paralyzed. Seriously- I know… sounds crazy. (see my blog for crazy details).
Because I’m in here I’ve watched more TV than I have in AGES. Got to watch some of the gymnastics trials. It was kind of funny because I just watched 3 seasons of Make-It-Or-Break it (thanks for making me aware of that show), and I wondered what kind of drama these real life girls have. Think they’re anything like Kailey or Payson? :) I’ve always LOVED gymnastics! My favorite was when I was 12 watching Mary Lou Retton in the 1984 olympics. LOVE HER! I liked it better when they could get 10’s on their events. Don’t understand the different scoring they use now.

Reply

I watched Make it or Break it last night, so it was like I was watching the gymnastics olympics trials too.

My long run this morning was 12 miles. It felt like 20. This humidity is going to kill me.

Reply

Did an 11- miler this morning. Total slog-fest. Glad it’s done!!

Love, love, love the gymnastics trials. Every move on the balance beam makes me tense up! Love the floor routine, though. Their athleticism is so inspiring!! I wish I had a body like them!

Reply

I loved the trials too! Those girls are incredible!! I was like ‘oh my gosh!’ ‘Holy cow!’ “amazing!” After pretty much everything!! What a talent they have. I really like Gabby, I hope she goes to London!
That is terrible about the smoke :/ But I’m glad they won…and that you won by getting Cafe Rio ;)

Such a fun date night! Where is that water park at in Provo?! I don’t remember seeing that one? Looks like so much fun! Gymnastics growing up was my fav to watch. I would go out back on the tramp and pretend to do a routine. I was that cool.

Reply

First of all, I could eat your niece up from that pic above. She totally could have my pear along with all other food I had on me hahaha

I wanna do a long run tomorrow. Was going to go today, BUT tomorrow morning I will be at my grandparents house who happen to live on a lake, and that run just seems so much more appealing ;) I’ll get my grandma to point me in the direction of a nice clearing so I wan run for a while in one direction.

I think I want lemonade now. What’s with pregnancy and lemonade?!? I swear they’re coupled lol

Reply

I haven’t been able to run all week so I am more than excited to get an 8-10 miler in today :) Does fro yo count as a restaurant? Because I’m pretty sure/positive that I had yogurtland on thurs and friday night :)

Reply

I want to go swimming! Looks like you guys had so much fun!!
I’m doing my long run today… In about 30 mins. I just need to get out of bed and do it! I’m feeling a little lazy.

Reply

MY GORGEOUS CATIE!! How about you come with us swimming next time? See you Monday:) How did your long run go….NYCM IS COMING SOON!!!

Reply

Monday sounds perfect! My long run went great! The 8 miles flew by! Funny how last night I could barely run two! Haha
First official NYCM training starts Monday! I’m a little nervous!

If I obsess over a restaurant food, it’s likely I will get it as often as humanely possible! Lately I’ve been loving the Mediterranean sandwich from Potbelly’s…can’t get enough!

Reply

WHY DID YOU MENTION POTBELLY’S…..I think that is my absolute favorite place in the entire world to eat and they don’t have them here. Mind sending me their Mediterranean sandwich? Thanks..

Reply

I had a random food aversion to black beans when I was pregnant too! I used to love them in these chicken enchiladas I make, but I still haven’t had any since pregnancy.

Reply

Good to know I am not crazy with my black bean weirdness ha!

Reply

Love that Curly! Thanks again for the blog shout out! Funny side note — my husband actually talked about breaking up with me because I don’t like pears! Since I love him so much, I’ve learned to like them! They were a favorite of my Nanny’s too! Kindred spirits I always say! :)

Just 10 on the trails this morning trying to get reaclimated to the Texas heat after being in the Bay area for 2 weeks. I love all beans! But man they don’t love me, I really get gassy. My favorite is garbonzo beans. I could eat at a pho restaurant by our hous every night, especially the spring rolls and peanut sauce. But nachos sound good right now too.

Reply

Way to go Amy! I bet that is killer going from the Bay area temps back to Texas! What was the temperature during your run. Garbonzo beans are SO good!

Reply

I can’t even remember the last time I went down a waterside – I forgot how much fun it is!

I skipped my long run this week because it’s so hot out and did an Instanity workout instead – it was tough!!
Have a great weekend, Janae!

I could eat from the sushi place down the street from me every night of the week! So delicious. I watched the trials last night too and thought they were incredible. The floor exercise routines were seriously amazing, the height they were getting! Can’t wait for the Olympics.

Reply

my long run was this morning – 9 miles on week 4 of marathon training!

Reply

WAY TO GO KATIE!! That is so awesome!

Reply

Gymnastics are my absolute favorite part of the Olympics–I never fail to be amazed by it! Those girls are so strong!

Reply

My long run was today! 5 miles :) I’m about 1/3rd through my half marathon training.

I have a 10k tomorrow so taking today easy… I have eaten at Chipotle two meals in a row (for lunch and dinner) several times, it’s my favorite restaurant ever. My fiance used to be a gymnast so he has a hard time watching it but I love Nastia!

Reply

GOOD LUCK at your 10k…you are going to rock it. Now you are making me need some Chipotle.

Reply

Janae, your blog is by far my favorite. I’m coming up on my last year of college cheerleading and have never really been a runner. Today was the end of my 4th week of an 8 week 5k program (half way there!). I’m starting to love running and your blog is so motivating! I can’t wait to race. I think my first race ever will be a 5k for ovarian cancer this September. It will be 10 years (almost to the day) since my grandma died of ovarian cancer. So thank you for being such a positive, motivating runner!

Reply

SARAH!!! Your comment made my day, thank you so so much! AHHHH CONGRATS on finishing your 4th week of 5k training, you are amazing. What a neat race to run in remembrance of your grandma. Will you please keep me updated with how you are doing and how your race goes?!?!

Reply

You are very welcome! And thank you, I will be sure to keep you updated!

Reply

I’m doing a long-ish run on Sunday…today was spinning and strength! That slide looks like so much fun!

Reply

I actually just got back from an eleven miler now, and it exhausted me!!! I’ll build up this summer to two hour runs before cross country season starts, but its a slow process after a post season recovery break!

I LOVE the gymnastics in the Olympics!!
And I also LOVE Make It Or Break It, for the same reason!
I am sad to hear that Sean Johnson isn’t coming back to compete this year…

Reply

GREAT job on your 11 miler wahoo! I was way bummed about Sean Johnson too! Hope you are having a great day and making sure to recover from that run!

Reply

I love chickpeas. They’re my favorite thing to mix in salads, soups, pasta — just about anything really!

Reply

I watched the gymnastic trials last night too. My favorite is the beam and the floor routine. So many of those girls are AMAZING! Makes me want to flip around. LOL.

Reply

Sharing your pear…..you become more mom-like everydayy!!!

Reply

hahaha who am I?

Reply

I have a 70 minute long run today! I am making my brother ride next to me and keep me company! SCORE!

I just found your blog a few days ago and I love it! My husband and I tried pizza and Sweet Baby Ray’s today for lunch…after a trail run…and I have to say it’s pretty dang good :)

Reply

HEY MARY!!! Thank you so much for your comment:) I am so happy that you loved the combination and seriously there isn’t anything better after a run than pizza. Have an awesome Saturday!

Reply

I love watching gymnastics. Love Love LOVE.

Reply

I absolutely LOVE black beans! You can send them to me next time!:-)

The weather is CRAZY these days. Out of nowhere we got a serious storm last night. The power outage effected 1.5 million people and it is over 100 degrees today, so it was pretty dangerous.

Before the power outage last night we were watching the gymnastic olympic trials as well.

I’m doing the Harvard Pilgrim 10k on July 3. It’s wicked fun & you finish on the 50 yard line in Gillette Stadium (where the Patriots play).

By the way you always post or mention foods & suddenly I want them. I went to mcdonalds hoping to get a lemonade like you rave about. We don’t have lemonade here. We only have sweet tea (which I don’t get since that seems like such a southern thing & I’m in MA). I was so bummed, but I ended up w/an ice cream cone for 59 cents so I was happy :)

Reply

GOOD LUCK at the 10k and that sounds like such a blast. AHHHH they didn’t have the lemonade, that is just rude. Glad you got their delicious ice cream though!

Reply

We watched. The final floor routine they aired, and it was so explosive. Wow, that’s some serious muscle. Those nachos look amazing.

Reply

My night looked very similar to yours! I’m rooting for Jordyn Wieber because she’s from my hometown and I taught her little sister! She’s so nice and she signed stuff for my classroom :)

Reply

I live in Colorado Springs so totally know what you mean about fires and smoke! It has been horrible here and it burns my eyes and throat just walking outside! Hopefully you guys are staying safe with the fires!!

Reply

i’m a macaroon fanatic, love them! it’s really hard to find a good one though. hope you’re having a lovely weekend!

Reply

Thanks for the shout out Janae, so glad you enjoyed the macarons!

Reply

I don’t want to scare you but 6 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter my doctor told me to be careful when doing any water activities. You don’t want to get any air in “there” or it could hurt the baby. No jumping into the pool/lake. I would think waterslides would fall into that category too. Like I said-6 years ago-things may have changed.

Looks like a great day! I love macarons too, what a wonderful gift!

I used to be a gymnast, so i was glued to the tv!
