Santa Monica, please adopt me.

I get a little paranoid about missing flights so I got to the airport two hours early this morning, aka 5:30 am. That gives me plenty of time to find breakfast, use the restroom four times (the bladder is getting smaller and smaller) and people watch… sounds like race morning.

Before I left the hotel I made sure to pick up two cookies, one of them is for billy. I probably shouldn’t post this because the odds of that cookie making it all the way to Utah and into billy’s hands is really small.

I had to take a picture of the magical drawer that the cookies are stored (we asked for new ones each time we came or left the hotel) to keep them warm and so delicious.
In case you are pregnant and staying at the Hilton just go up to the counter rubbing your tummy and pretending like your back is sore and they will give you at least two each time and your friends just one.

And because this is hrg you need a random photo, one of the little itty bitty dresses from my 2 am baby shower.

Saturday started off the best way possible. Waffles. I decided since I was only going to be in town for such a short time that I wasn’t going to try to fit in a workout and instead spend every second playing. This meant that my Saturday workout was walking the mile to the best waffle I have ever had. I am pretty sure they dipped it into butter before bringing it out to me. Eggs and bacon on the side because it is delicious and to ensure I wasn’t hungry four seconds later.

Eating outside is one of the greatest pleasures in life.

Next stop was to rent pink beach cruisers to see as much of the area as possible.

I always have something on my mind that I save my pennies for and my new thing at the top of that list is a beach cruiser.

Hello muscle beach (at least we were posing as if we were at muscle beach).

Okay here is the real muscle beach. Maybe I would attempt to lift weights if I was doing it outside with the ocean breeze.

We also found the canals and I am determined to have a house with a treehouse and a backyard that leads to little boats and water in the near future.

After riding around for two hours and seeing how many times I could ring the bell on my bike it was time to relax on the beach and eat $8 a lb mango.

I think it would be impossible to ever be sad here… beach, fresh fruit everywhere and old men weight lifting in speedos… that’s all you need right?

Part dos later on today. It is probably kind of weird how excited I am to see billy, I mean it has been a full 48 hours. Poor guy has had to watch 3 sports games a day, eat sandwiches and hang out with his friends, I think he will be sending me on girls trips more often.

what a fun day, Janae! you’re on the opposite end of the country than me, but I felt like I was there with you from all the great pics. that baby girl dress is so precious it makes me smile! I hope you have a safe trip home. this weekend has been about healing this beat up body, eating delicious food, and taking it easy with Billy.

I’m a Georgia Peach! :)
and right now, I’d take a mango pineapple smoothie.

What an amazing day! Love love love the pics, especially the beautiful canal and boats and the TINY dress! Ahhhh!

I’m originally from Winnipeg Canada, but I’ve lived in Phoenix AZ, spent my high school and undergrad years in Vancouver Canada, and now call Adelaide Australia home.

I luuuuurve pineapple but my lips always hurt after- I think I’m a little allergic!!

I’m spending my weekend holed up at home writing an assignment :( Yours is definitely more post-worthy!

Sounds like such a fun day! It really makes me happy to see that you prioritised having fun over a workout :)! It’s mango season in Mumbai right now and you wouldn’t believe how sweet they are…I wonder if DHL would allow me to send some over to you in Utah :)!

That red dress is freaking adorable!

My weekend has been nice and sort of relaxing. I did fit in a 2.5 mile run. Always hard to run when its 90 degrees outside and its only 8 am:/.

Off to church this morning, and then my sisters coir concert tonight!

Those beach cruisers look like so much fun. Glad you had a great weekend!

That dress is so freaking cute and holy cow it looks beautiful there.

I am from Florida and would much rather be eating pineapple, but all this fruit is making me crave a strawberry, oj and banana smoothie. mmmm

OMG Janae! I totally want to go to the beach with you. It would be so fun. I just really want to go to the beach to be honest. My sister and I are going to San Diego in July & I may explode from the excitement. Love the pink cruisers. How great would it be to work out on the beach like that?! Maybe not so much if there are old men in speedos though…..

Safe travels going back home :)

Born and raised in Florida. I enjoy it here, most of the time. Though I am itching for new scenery and seasons!

Fresh Pineapple would be amazing right now! And I have been busy celebrating birthdays, graduations and anniversaries.

Safe travels home, cookies and all.

Oh I am totally craving a mango right now. Luckily, theres always cute ladies selling them around the city. They chop one up right in front of you for only $2 a bag! I’m obsessed with mango.

I’m from Kansas City, MO! I Grew up (and my parents still live) about 100 yards from the state line, so I consider myself from both cities. And I love beach cruisers! I had one in college when I went to school in Charleston, SC!

Is that red dress from Baby Gap? I got my SIL the same one in cream. It is so adorable. Buying for baby girls is addicting.

I’m from California and my parents still live there. I like visiting, but I can’t really see myself living there again. I used to have a beach cruiser and it was amazing. You need a basket to carry snacks and a beach towel.

Reply

You really have that basket packed to the brim girl! Don’t have a beach cruiser but a lot of people ride them along the lakefront in the summer here and I’ve always wanted one. You should shop Craigslist and garage sales for them, that’s where all my girl friends got theirs.

Have a happy Billy filled Sunday!

I’m in sunny Long Beach, Calif. I love going down to the beach and jogging. I’ll be purchasing a bike this summer, too. The bike will have to have some form of pink color in it because that’s my favorite color. I had a blast this weekend. My nieces and I made vegan sprinkle donuts (recipe from Chloe’s Kitchen) Friday night. Then on Saturday afternoon we went to Costco to meet Chloe Coscarelli. She wrote the cookbook and she was the winner of the Cupcake Wars on the Food Network. The nieces and I also shopped there. We bought a cheese pizza and fruit to munch on for lunch. We spent the rest of the evening watching movies on Netflix and dvds.
I love fresh mangos in the summer, they’re delicious.

I’m from Missouri. But I always knew I would leave there as an adult. I have always been drawn to Oregon. So when we had the chance to move here, we did!

I would rather have fresh mango!

I don’t have a beach cruiser. Just not very practical where I live. Too hilly!

I’m from Oklahoma, but I hate it and I’m dying to move to the mountains!!

Hey chica! Adorable little red dress btw. I was born in Washington but lived most of my life in Indiana. My weekend has been good, a leisurely run yesterday and today started out with some 30 day shred–it had been way too long since Jillian’s kicked my butt! Then I made breakfast for my Pappaw: fried eggs, bacon, fruit salad. I would rather have fresh pineapple right now, just cuz I had mango the other day. Have a good flight! Glad you had a good time in Cali :)

My weekend has been fun! Dancing, live music, pool party, church, and sushi. That little dress is about the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen.

I would definitely vote for mango!

It is summer like weather here, so pretty much a summer foods weekend.
yesterday : long run, went for malts after lunch, grilled out steaks with friends last night.
today: I made a delicious new pasta salad recipe, and chocolate pudding dessert (the hubby’s favorite).

Loved that you missed billy so much. Happy reunion today!

Looks like you’re having lots of fun with your friends! I have unfortunately spent lots of time in a hospital – my hubby has rhabdomyolysis from a tough CrossFit workout :( Hopefully he’ll be released tomorrow.
Fresh mango, hands down!

I graduated from college this Saturday! definitely the highlight of my weekend. I’d rather have mango, yum!
You sparked a need to visit Santa Monica, it will happen soon!

Reply

OMG, I miss Santa Monica everyday. “Mango, Mango, Mango, Mango, Mango.”

Love the dress! I am from PA. I ran my 2nd marathon today — just brutal but the highlight was my husband ran the last 5k with me and then my kids got to run on the track at the bitter end with me. They saved me by talking the whole time. With only 500 runners and a small town/old school feel, it was just awesome!!! Best wishes for a smooth pregnancy. you look great!

I am obsessed with baby clothes, I could look at them forever! So cute! I’m from Canada, so not from a state. I live in Victoria B.C. Not too exciting. I love mango and hate pineapple, so that answers that question!

I want Santa Clara to adopt you!! :)
I was born/raised in California…I was foolish and left it for 4 yrs (to get my B.S. @ UW)
I have a MAGENTA beach cruiser, and if you move here I will give it to you :)

First, I’m so happy for you! I’m jealous and wish I was at the beach! The cookies look so yummy(hope you ate them with ice cream), your baby shower is adorable, and looks like you had a blast!! Anyways, I’m from Southern Virginia(very tip of it). If I drive 1hr to this park, I can stand in VA, TN, AND KY all at the same time. Now, I live 2hrs from home in East TN. I went to college here(10min away), and got a job at the school I did my student teaching at. So counting college, I’ve been in TN for 10yrs! I’m getting old!! However, I’m NOT a TN fan…(VT)Hokie Fan forever!!

Omg that dress is adorable! I was at a baby shower today & baby girl clothes are the cutest things ever!!

I’m originally from Pennsylvania (Philly), lived in California (San Diego) for 5 years & now I’m in New York (Brooklyn)!

& while I looooove mango – fresh pineapple would be my choice!!

Mmm…mango sounds ah-mazing right now.

I love pink bikes. I want one.

We went to a wedding yesterday, that should have been a lot of fun, but my 1 year old was an absolute bear from lack of naptime :( Run and then church this morning and naptime for mommy this afternoon :)

I actually had a girls weekend in Omaha with some college friends this weekend and guess where we stayed?!?! That’s right, the Doubletree. And one of my friends is pregnant, due July 23rd, so we most definitely scored 9 cookies upon check in for the four of us =) Those things are sooooo good!!!! They’re are filled full with chocolate chips, mmmmmm mmmmmm!

I’m the same way – I MUST arrive to the airport hours before the flight. Otherwise I panic. It’s pretty ridiculous but I don’t mind hanging out at airports too much.

I am sad we never hit up Santa Monica when we were in Cali last summer, it looks so cute!
I am originally from Alberta, Canada.

Ran an 8K race this weekend in beautiful downtown Montgomery, Alabama. Nice, HARD run with tons of hills!

What state are you originally from?
My husband and I are both from Montgomery, Alabama. We have lived in several other states, but were living in New Orleans during Hurrican Katrina and that pushed us right back home to Bammy!! All of our family is here and we love it! We have two small children and have never had to pay a babysitter! We own several restaurants and love living here. You and Billy should come and visit – did I mention we could feed you for FREE!!

Would you rather have fresh pineapple or fresh mango right now?
I would rather have the mango!

Who has a beach cruiser? Let me know how awesome it is.
No beach cruiser here. I have a 27 speed Cannondale. I was in Charleston a few months ago and rode my friend’s cruiser…I nearly wrecked it 22 times….foot brakes are hard to go back to! Ahhhh!

I’m in Los Angeles and my boyfriend lives in Santa Monica….where did you get your butterlicious waffle??

Day late, but I spent my weekend down in Big Sur, camping with my sir. It was an exhausting travel filled weekend for the two of us, but we got plenty of “us time” in, which is great considering I won’t get to see him for 4 months now. I miss him already! Anyway, we drove the PCH on Friday and Saturday and then Sunday, we drove across the state back to Markleeville thru some gorgeous farmland and across Sonora Pass. Le sigh. Can’t reminisce too much, it makes me teary.

Reply

Yes! Beach cruiser with baby seat. The bike baby seat…just go ahead and put that on your registry now. i could just imagine the three of y’all.
