Hungry Walker Girl

Not much running (except when I saw the cinnamon roll that I wanted) going on over here but we walked all over the place today, maybe some running will occur tomorrow.
We have been in full out vacation mode and I think we went a little overboard in the food department.

The morning started with a hotel breakfast buffet that was free and ridiculously good. It is always a good sign when you have to fold your waffle in half in order for it to fit on your plate.

20120513-211104.jpg
Yeah I don’t know how those got there….muffin tops are almost as good as donut tops.

20120513-214152.jpg
I would pay big bucks for a breakfast like that every morning.
We hopped in the car after bfast and drove an hour to get to San Fran. First stop was Lombard street. PS I was singing the Full House theme song to billy all day and he loved it.

20120513-211336.jpg
Holy cow those streets are steep.

20120513-211724.jpg
Next tourist stop was the Golden Gate Bridge.

20120513-211818.jpg
Yep, I would be more than okay living here.

20120513-212555.jpg

After driving (we better run it next time) the bridge Billy dragged me to Lululemon to stare at all of their beautiful clothing. Okay it was my idea to go there but I am sure he had fun while I tried on every jacket in the store.
We walked by this cinnamon roll store and had to stop for lunch #1.

20120513-212210.jpg

After the gooeyest (definitely not a word) delicious cinnamon roll we headed over to Pier 39 to walk around, watch some hilarious shows and spend $14 on cherries….I wish I was kidding but I just couldn’t resist.

Okay so my fingers are getting tired from typing on my iPad and I need to get back to partying (watching nba playoffs and enjoying the hotels air conditioning) so part 2 will be up later! Hope your day has been perfect!

Where did you go on your last vacation?
What is your favorite thing at Lululemon or do you avoid that store like the plague?
What is your favorite muffin flavor?
I want to hear about anyone that raced over the weekend… How did it go?

I ran a 10K that was ridiculously HILLY and HOT, but I PR’d and placed 5th in my age group! I love SF, especially the shopping! They have this amazing store in a few locations called Ambiance- if you move to the bay area you will have to check it out!

I like my lulu jackets. I have two.
Pumpkin muffins are my favorite.
Last real actual vacation was last year to Paris.
I didn’t race this weekend…but I would’ve raced over to SF to see you and your nice husband and cute baby belly :) I’m racing in the SF Bay to Breakers next Sunday.

A waffle calzone…genius! That part of Full House made me smile, because I know I would do the same thing if I were in San Fran! Choosing a favorite muffin flavor is as difficult as choosing a favorite ice cream flavor so I’ll give you a few: blueberry, choc chip, apple cinnamon, & banana nut…yeah I cheated with that question :)!

I ran my second half marathon yesterday I was hilly, hot and windy (all moderately so) I got 1:49. I think NZ only has one Lululemon store, I haven’t been there. But I have been to San Francisco! It’s only place I’ve been to in the USA, we went to Fishermans wharf and had sourdough with cheese, then to a huge candy/chocolate shop, because I was a chocoholic at the time.

Hey Amber!

Do you live in New Zealand? Woah!! That is SO cool and you read Janae’s Blog :)

I work for lululemon and there are 3 stores. One in Queenstown and two in Auckland. One in Ponsonby (where i work and is the biggest store in the southern hemisphere and in Britomart).

Hope to see you soon!

Reply

Yes, I live in Palmy nth! Too bad all those stores are so far away from me.

Reply

Amber!!!! Congrats on your amazing half marathon! Hilly hot and windy…. You are a rock star!

Reply

I didn’t feel much like a rockstar;) I swore that was my last race ever……. till the next day then I decided to do my third one in August! How does that happen!:)

My last “vacation” was home to the Midwest last summer. Will be the same “vacation” this summer. But I have promised myself a beach vacation come winter this year!

Reply

i want to DIVE into the cinnamon roll!! i think i’m working off of breakfast food envy overload over on this end…between the waffles, cinn. roll, and wat appears to be tiny bread men i wish i was able to be there in San Fran with u! i love that city, and if i were richer i’d want to move there.

keep having an awesome trip!! :)

Reply

My all time favorite muffin is a Maple, Cinnamon, Pumpkin Muffin with a crumble topping. I actually just made that up but I know it would be my favorite.

Since I work at lululemon :) my favorite lululemon items right now are the lulu smooth move underwear in boy cut (amazing undies ladies), my recognition pants and my long sleeve concord grape run swiftly top and the free to be bra.

Last vacation was home to LA from New Zealand but before that my last REAL vacation was Aruba.

Last vacation was St Lucia.
I have never been in that store. Must not be on the East Coast yet.
Muffins….anything blueberry, cinnamon, carrot, chocolate chip. Any muffin will do really.

Oh my gosh San Fran looks gorgeous! Now I want to go! Awesome pictures.

I have never been to Lulu–lucky (or unfortunate) for me the nearest store is over 2 hours away.

Have a safe flight and a Happy Monday Janae!

Looks like an amazing weekend!!! Don’t get me started on lululemon;-) I had a little shopping trip there this weekend as well. I LOVE their skirts. and their cool racerback tops. I love everything in there:)
Enjoy the rest of your vaca!

Fun stuff! I love San Fran, I have family that lives close by. Hmmm last va-k? I guess it would have been Mexico back in the end of Jan. Wow that was a long time ago but we are leaving Thursday for Dallas to visit family. Good times.

I love Lulu. I can’t get enough. I like their tanks.

Enjoy the rest of your trip!!!

My last vacation was to Florida last summer, and during that trip I went to Lululemon for the first time! Even though it was an outlet, everything was still expensive!

Reply

Looks like you guys hit up some fun tourist spots!
My last vacation was Hawaii in February. It was an incredible two weeks!

Reply

You should go visit my sister while you’re in San Fran!

Our last vacation was to Vegas last month. We don’t have anything else planned for a while, sadly.

Reply

I actually went to San Fran on my last vacation, which was this past August. It was sooo beautiful there, and I cannot wait until I get to go there again ;)

Reply

I love San Fran! We were there last summer :) Have you rode the trolley cars yet? It was a highlight for us.
Let’s be honest I love everything at Lululemon… haha
Favorite muffin is banana chocolate chip.
I would be very jealous of your cinnamon bun since I’ve been craving one for weeks but I finally had one yesterday and it was the best I’ve ever had, no lie. And usually I do not like the sticky varieties and go for the icing ones but this sticky one was amazing.

Reply

I can totes do a handstand just like that guy.

Reply

I’d love to go to San Fran! Its on my list of places to go. Looks really pretty :)

I love Lulu but have to stop myself sometimes from buying things. Their clothes are amazing! I have some adorable running skirts from them.

Portland/Seattle over Christmas and New Years – we have family in Portland.

I avoid Lululemon – my bank account prefers Target and JC Penny.

I like banana nut.

Had a GREAT 25K trail race on Saturday, working on a race report now. So in love with trails.

Enjoy the rest of your trip, looks like so much fun. I LOVE that city!

“I avoid Lululemon – my bank account prefers Target and JC Penny.”

Haha mine too!

I’m dying to get to San Francisco–the pictures are fabulous. How did you resist the turtle breads?! I have a few favorite Lulu pieces–have that same jacket as you but in heathered gray/black and a couple of tights and capris. But, their prices are ridiculous. I’m a huge fan of Athleta, which is only slightly less expensive. Got to run my first half-marathon since moving to MI this past Saturday. It was a small race on a trail that followed the shore of Lake Superior. The weather was gorgeous and I (surprisingly) won 1st in my age group. That was a nice treat and a great way to start the racing season!

San Fran is so beautiful! I haven’t been there in over a decade but I’ve been meaning to return for ages. You’re lucky that you got to see the Golden Gate Bridge in its fullest…when I went it was hidden in fog for days straight :(

Oh and hello from a fellow lurker from Chicago!

Reply

I LOVE fresh cherries, no shame in spending $14 on them! Glad you enjoyed San Francisco!

Reply

This pictures are beautiful. The turtle breads are hilarious and with cherries looking like that I would have spent 14$ too!

Reply

awww yay looks like you are having a blast!!

last “vacation” was when me and kev went down to new hope for valentines day. i need a real vacation ASAP ;)

is it sad that i’ve never been in a lululemon store? i need to change that.

Reply

Nae Nae, I was just in San Fran a week ago. I LOVED everything about it. I love that you want to run across the bridge because I totally did and my family thought I was crazy for wanting to do it so bad. If you live there I would totally come visit. I thought I was Michelle Tanner the whole weekend. I mean how could I not right? Love reading your blog everyday! Love you girl

Reply

I’m a Nike girl all the way. Head (hats) to toe (socks/shoes). San Fran was beautiful. I want to vacay there one day. I remember all the law school tours with my husband. So fun!!!! Enjoy your day and eats!

Reply

I’m enjoying the image of y’all moving to San Francisco, you singing the Full House theme song every morning when you wake up, and Billy finally snapping sometime in year three.

Reply

Looks like you are having a great time!!

Reply

Looks like a blast!!!

Reply

aw, what great photos! Looks like so much fun and those $14 cherries look absolutely divine! not sure I would’ve been able to resist either ;)

Reply

I visited San Fran this year and everyone thought I would want to move there. For some odd reason – I didn’t. I didn’t like the idea of basically no weather changing – at all!

Beautiful pix and looks like fun. I just devoured a berry blend muffin – but my fav is banana nut :)

Reply

Have you been to the new lulu store in SLC yet?

Reply

No!!! Is it a big one? Where is it?

Reply

Yeah it’s a pretty decent size. It’s at Trolley Square right next to the Whole Foods.

Reply

I can’t wait to go! Thanks so much!

Reply

I’ve never been to San Fran…but you’d think I really know the city since I just called it San Fran!
The muffins look amazing and so do the cherries!
Love the Lulu jacket, and Hubs gave me a gift card for Mom’s day…and I’m ready to go to town!
It’s totally ok to be HWG!

Reply

I LOVE all of your pictures. Looks like SO much fun! I’ve always wanted to go to CA..always. I can’t believe I still haven’t been. I’ll have to come visit you when you guys move to CA ;)
Can you please mail me one of those muffins!? They look SO good..and I 100% agree..muffin tops are SUPER close to donuts!!

Reply

Beautiful! I want to go to San Francisco one day. Maybe if you move there I can come visit :). I used to record episodes of Full House and watch them over and over and over again. “Cut- it- out!”

Blueberry muffins, all the way.

Reply

I’ve never been into Lululemon. I think avoidance is the best policy until I get a bigger paycheck!
I raced this weekend and it was great! It took me 7.5 hours to cover 31 miles with 5,000 elevation in 80 degree heat. Man did I feel crappy on Sunday. But as you’ll *hopefully* find out, the Bay Area has tons of beautiful trails that you’ll never get tired of exploring!

Reply

I did the Run Like a Mother 5k with my mom and she got second place for her age division! There were only two people IN her age division, but I still told her she should be proud – and she won a free entry into next years race. Cool! She got a 32:56 and I did 35:06. I was aiming for under 36 minutes, so I was stoked :)

Reply

What a great trip u guys r having! I love living in the bay area- weather, culture, trails to run, the Oakland temple…..all awesome reasons. Oh and that if u move here, we can run together :).
I raced my first 5k on Sat & came in 2nd, yippee! It feels good to go fast although I tend to b more of a long distance type so this was a fun, new experience! In all fairness though, the race was my Stake’s women run so I think only a handful of us were really racing :)
Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Reply

Ahhhh congrats on your 5k!!! That is beyond awesome! Congrats!!! You better be serious about us running together!

Reply

Yes, I would love it!

Reply

San Francisco is so pretty, haven’t been there since I was a kid but would love to make a trip down there again soon :)

I did the Doggie Dash in Portland this weekend, I didn’t do that great, boo. But I did have an awesome time with my BFF and her doggie Maverick.

Reply

Love these pictures! It looks like you’re having a wonderful time!

Reply

Love lulu! That store is SO addictive…I try not to frequent it too often cuz I’ll go broke.

I loooove me some San Francisco! Miss it so much. Last trip I took out of state was to D.C. for the Marine Corps Marathon last year! Need another vacation badly. I am looking fwd to running MCM again this year.

This wknd, I ran my last track workout of the season w/ my running group and felt great! On to marathon training!

Reply

how fun!
and you look SO good janae!! all smiley and healthy and just cute as ever!
san fran is so fun to visit. my sister lives in Sacramento (about 2 hours away) and we go occasionally to shop and look around. i get a little stressed there though since its kind of hectic haha. but lots to see nonetheless.
i have a pair of lululemon capris someone gave me as a gift that i adore but i dont typically buy from there just because it is so spendy for my budget.

Reply

My last vacation was going to Cancun over Christmas. We are going back over the fourth of July (apparently we just like to travel over holidays haha), and I cannot wait!

OMG San Fran is so beautiful!!! I hope you move there (or to TN, but whatever).

Reply

Yay San Francisco!! I was there visiting a friend recently, and also stopped there on a layover a few weeks ago, love it there!

Reply

I ran an 18-miler and got third place overall (it was the Mermaid Run, an all-woman series). I got a bunch of cool prizes and I’m pretty over-the-moon about it!

Reply

Michelle you are incredible!!!! Wow! Way to go girl!

Reply

Oh I freaking love San Fran!! I have family there so we visit about once a year. These pictures are seriously making me want a trip asap. I hope you guys are having so much fun and enjoy the rest of your trip. :)

I think I would like living in San Fran. Is it your number one pick? Did you get anything at Lulu? I don’t own a Single piece of lulu gear, how crazy is that?!

Reply

Love lulu’s turbo run shorts and power Y and Push Ur Limits tanks. I also love their studio crops and run wild half zips. I wear them about every other day everywhere I go. So comfy. Sounds like you are enjoying SF. Such an amazing city!!!

That looks amazing! Pretty sure I could live there too!

I adore Lulu jackets – I have two or three, I think. I need another one in a lighterweight fabric.

I ran my first half this weekend! Went really well, although I’ve been not feeling great & found out this morning that I have bronchitis. Guess that’s why I was wheezing & hacking on some of the hills? ;-)

Reply

looks like a lovely day in San Fran! of course you know I want you to move to NYC instead – would you come if we bribed you with a place to stay and as many bagels as you wanted + runs in Central Park??

Reply

You know exactly how to bribe me:) see you in two weeks?!?

Reply

WAIT! are you really coming here in two weeks?????????????

I wish …. I just need to convince billy and I will be!

My last RUNcation was to Vancouver last weekend. The marathon course was beautiful and I got a new PR!
Apple/oatmeal muffins are my favorite… or pumpkin. And I love Lululemon, but only go in if I have extra money to spend. I love their running shorts and the racer back tanks because they don’t have built in bras.

Reply

I dont usually comment but i have to. Okay!! If you are still in sf tomorrow you have to go to Stacks!!! It’s on Hayes st, Best pancakes in the WORLD!! I don’t say this lightly. My favorite is the Banana Macadamia Nut & Coconut Pancake. Enough said trust me ;)

Reply

Ahhhhhh we left today:( booo! I will totally be trying it next time I am there! Thanks so much for making me drool over the thought of those pancakes ha!

San Fran is my fav city!! Next to Nashville of course where I currently live. So beautiful out there. I love lululemon but haven’t indulged yet.
right now as I type this I’m sitting on the beach in playa del carmen Mexico….loving life!! But we head back to Nashville tomorrow. Next vacation will be our honeymoon in 2013 :D

Beach in Mexico!!!! Lucky girl, enjoy! Where will you be going for your honeymoon?

We have a few on the list…Maldives, St Lucia, or Hawaii…I have been having dreams about Hawaii =)

I ran a 10k this weekend, pushing a double jogging stroller…54:03!! My kids love to race with me…and wear costumes in the races (this time they were Batman and his trusty side-kick, Ballerina Girl).

Reply

I am madly in love with San Francisco!! I love the cafes, the steep streets and the charming apartments and houses. I love it all! What I love most though, is running in San Fran. Next time you go, you must run!! It’s challenging but a fantastic way to see the city. I hope you’re enjoying all of the delicious food!

Reply

My last vacation was on my semester abroad to Rome! I guess thats a vacation in itself, but the last trip we took was to Prague!

I like Lululemon too much. More than normal stores. I love the run inspire crop II and I just got the best quarter zip that is on sale!!! A rare find at Lululemon- but when I see something I like on sale I always take advantage of it! I also found out that you get 15% off if you are running a race, as long as you bring them a bib number/email/proof you are running- score!!

Reply

My last real vacation was also out to CA for the Rose Bowl this year. Even though my Badgers lost both times I went, I’d go again in a heartbeat. I love CA and dream of moving out there :)

Lululemon anything.. it’s a dangerous dangerous store.

Reply

Yayyyy you made it to Fisherman’s Wharf! Your day looked so fabulous. I really like those sea turtle loaves. Super Cool!
I love Lululemon, I have a jacket that I got on sale there and some really cute pants too. I love the fit.
My last vacation was Viva Las Vegas, I stayed at the Cosmopolitan Hotel. The rooms were really nice. It’s one of their new hotels. I really love Mandalay Bay however, because it has an aquarium inside which is really neat.

My favorite muffin flavor normally is chocolate, chocolate chip. However, when I was in college the coffee shop would make a strawberry cake muffin with a gooey strawberry center filling. Mouth watering! I used to hate when they sold out of them.
Your cherry picture reminds me of when I went cherry picking with my church. It was all you can eat while you picked in the orchard. I think everyone was so sick from eating so many cherries LOL!

Reply

I almost spent $11 on cherries last night but they weren’t even that good of looking cherries. So I sadly put them back and got blueberries instead. That was my snack for the movie (along with swedish fish). Only the weirdest people combine fruit with candy!
