A slow long run

Stormy weather is officially my favorite to run in.  We didn’t get out for our run until 9:40 this morning and usually it would already be way too hot to do a long run but today it was just perfect.

I did the first seven with my sister but then she had to leave.  She is a saint for going 3.0 mph slower than she normally runs in order for me to keep up with her.  It is amazing how fast runs go by when I am with her and how talented we are at talking non-stop without taking breaks to breathe.

I got bored after she left so of course I whipped out the camera.

I wanted to include a picture of the baby running too because I thoroughly enjoy posting awkward pictures on the internet.

I did 11.1 miles total slower than ever but I am proud that I finished happy and that my body was feeling good.   The only problem with running during stormy weather was that it was windy and a lb of pollen went into my eyeballs.  I can’t stop scratching them and I am guessing a nap is the only thing that will save me from scratching them out.

Besides watermelon my biggest craving right now is for sandwiches.  I drive by place called Which Which a lot and I always tell Billy that we have to go there.  Today was the day.   I love food a lot but I really love food after a long run, everything tastes even better than usual.

Which Which is my new favorite sandwich place.  I love that you get to mark EXACTLY what you want for your sandwich and they have a million different options for you to add with no extra charge.  I had the club with turkey, ham and bacon with all the veggies (minus olives) and tzatziki spread.  I could put tzatziki on everything I eat.  ****Random but they had a sandwich with ham, grape jelly and powdered sugar….it sounds awful but I am pretty sure I would love it.

We just got home and turned on The Office.  I will be asleep in 5, 4, 3, 2 …………….

Have you ever been to Wich Wich?  What did you think of it?

Do you get allergies?

Did you listen to music on your last run?  Do you remember some of the songs you listened to?

-After my sis left I turned on some Beyonce.

Stormy weather is my favorite to run in to! Especially if it is raining! Such an amazing feeling. I get reallllly bad allergies. I have seasonsal asthma so it makes my runs a lot harder. One of my current favorite running songs is Chemical Romance – “Sing”.

PS – Food ALWAYS taste better after a run! I love to get mine in early then make a huge delicious breakfast.

I am with ya! Food always tastes better after a run :) Way to go on the 11.1! Yes I listened to a little Rihanna and Dirty Gold. Good stuff!

Have a wonderful nap :))

Mumm that sandwich looks awesome!

Which which is awesome! There are 2 within a 5mile radius of my house so I got there all the time!

Ahh that sandwich looks fabulous! I have not been there but I’ve heard many things about it.

I do get allergies, in the early spring. They make me want to stab my eyes out and curl into a ball and cry. I hate them. My medicine works, but there’s always still a few days of misery.

I almost always just put my iPod on shuffle when I run. This morning, the only song I can remember coming up is Love Is Gone. Oh, and Summer Boy and Beautiful, Dirty, Rich. I remember these two because I was very excited that 2 Lady Gaga songs came on in a row, this always impresses me.

Fabulous run! OMGoodnees you definitely have been missing out. I love which wich!!!

I love Which Wich! We have one here that we frequently hit up. Subway is the bombdiggity, but they have a really unique taste that we love, too. They have the Elvis here that I think has peanut butter, banana, and bacon on it! My husband always wants to try it, but usually opts out because he’s too hungry for a major meal mistake! I didn’t have a playlist on our long run today and sadly, my ipod was being janky. Every slow song that I usually skip came on :( Long runs + good food + naps = perfection!

That sandwich is intriguing… I mean I love the idea of sweet and salty. Maybe I may do a version with turkey, jelly and sugar. Hmmm. My friend used to eat peanut butter in all kind of meat sandwiches. Now that was weird. But she loved it.

You are so rad for running 11 miles while pregnant!! I could barely do a 5k.

I love Which Wich!! It is a great shop, and they did a nice job putting my sandwich to meet my needs exactly!! Enjoy your evening :)

I get allergies like CRAZY. It’s actually kept me from running outside a lot of times. It’s absolutely awful and nose and throat get stuffed up …stupid pollen.

Looks like a perfect day! I hope the nap was perfection.

Whatever that song is with the line “heres my #, call me maybe”

PS. Chris and i went trail running today. He is an incredible cyclist, so when he was saying “babe, you’re killing me, your’re killing me” it made my weekend. I know you understand.

11.1 miles? Awesome!! Great job!

That sandwich looks really really good. We don’t have that place out here unfortunately. I wish we did because I am a huge sandwich person! I love em.

Sounds like a great run. I like running in stormy weather. It rains maybe 5 days out of the year where I live, so I don’t ever get to run in that type of weather. I like their sandwiches, but I thought they were kind of expensive.

I listened to a lot of Flo Rida and David Guetta. There are certain songs that I pray come on because I just need that extra oomph to get me through parts of runs

aww love the belly shot.. how cute to think that your little baby is a runner from the start!

Your baby bump looks too cute! Go you for running 11 miles while pregnant!! :)

Love Which Wich and you can make ANY sandwich into a huge salad!!!!!

I bet that sandwich tastes like a Monte Cristo, my old favorite from Bennigan’s!

I love running in the rain. In fact, I’m bummed that my 5k tomorrow only is scheduled for a 40% chance of rain during the time we’ll be running!

I just googled Which Wich and found one near my home!!!! Yay!!! I will be trying it out soon. The menu has a selection of veggie sandwiches, far more than Subway!! Excellent!!!
I love to listen to Beyonce – Love on Top, Mary J. Blige – Just Fine and Jennifer Hudson – Spotlight while I’m running. I just play their songs over and over to stay motivated.
I do have allergies which develop in the Spring. Claritin or some other antihistamine usually works well for me.
I do have food allergies (advocado and I just found out bananas, too).

I just saw a receipe for Butterscotch marshmallow bars. They look easy and i know how much you love Butterscotch! It’s on shugary sweets blog…on my phone and can’t figure out how to copy and paste the blog.

Haha the sandwich with ham, jelly and sugar is called a Monte Cristo. My mom once shrieked when she saw one on a menu and didn’t think about ordering anything else haha.
A TRUE Cristo is ham, turkey, and swiss battered, fried, dusted with powdered sugar and served with grape jelly! It’s AMAZING but a real heart attack on a plate :D
Basically its a cross between a turkey melt, a funnel cake, and a beignet. In short, it is fabulous. You need to get a real, Southern one my friend.

My husband and I were just talking about music and running. Up until a few months ago, I thought I could only run with music. If I happened to forget my iPod, I had the worst run ever.

I went for a run earlier this week and found that I preferred to run without music–I was more in tune with my body and was able to focus on how I felt during the run–it was great! Of course, I’ll probably still run with music if I’m limited to the dreadmill, but if I’m going to run outside, I think I’m going to keep the music at home!

I’ve never been to which which but the ham, grape jelly, and powdered sugar one sounds good! I put ham and grape jelly on my egg sandwiches and it’s amazing :)
I have terrible allergies and I can’t wait to move to Las Vegas where there is dry air and little allergies!

We just got a Which Which in Charlottesville and I’m gonna drag the bf to go try it out :-) Glad you’re run was good!!!

You just keep plugging along, girl. You don’t pay no nevermind to how fast or slow you and your little companion are going, m’kay? You are doing GREAT.

I seem to listen to the same three songs over and over. I’ll put one on continuous loop for a bit and forget I did that so when I change the song, it’s still playing on continuous loop. I get kind of brain dead when running sometimes…like every time lately :P The three songs are old and cheesy…Faith by George Michael, I’m Too Sexy (of course) by Right Said Fred, and Just Like Heaven by The Cure. Over and over and over and over….

I listened to music on my run this morning, and at the very end I was getting tired and had a big hill left to climb right at the finish. At the moment where the “this is not going to be fun” thoughts started creeping into my head, the song changed on my iPod and it was Nirvana “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and it made that hill so much easier! :)

I just tried Which Wich last weekend and loved it! The possibilities are endless! :)

I love food places like that- where you get to check the boxes for what you want. It seems they get it right more often that way!

Love that your baby belly has blossomed! Looks so cute.

I went to that sandwich place in Austin and thought it was pretty good. Don’t they have a 14 inch option? That is my pick after a 11 mile run!! Way to go mama!

Reply

I love restaurants which allow you to customise orders like that! Way to go on the run, J- 11.1 miles faster than if you stayed on the couch! Also nothing beats Flo Rida on a run when i want to pick up the momentum!

I’ve never had wich wich, but If you’re ever up on 9000 S and Redwood Rd; you have to go to Village Baker for a sandwich. Their sandwiches are amazing! I work up that way and we pick them up for lunch occasionally.

Reply

Never heard of that sandwich place. But I think I would like it!

My allergies were crazy last week. The past few days have been better.

Great long run!
It’s awesome that even after your sister left, you didn’t stop!
Last time I ran with my baby in the jogger, and I didn’t listen to any music. But Beyonce is one of my favorite to listen to while working out :)

I haven’t ever been to a Wich Wich or heard of one, but we were watching episodes of Off Their Rockers and one of the people mentioned a Wich Wich tonight. How funny!

I always run with music, but mostly because I run alone and I don’t have anyone to chat with! :)

Good job on 11 miles! Woohoo!
As for sandwich shops…I love Jersey Mikes, Subway and the sub bar at Harris Teeter…I know that is random but I do! lol

I used to fear stormy weather like a cat but lately have been loving it! Sometimes clouds and a light drizzle are a blessing in disguise. You look so happy in your picture! I have yet to perfect my picture-taking abilities while running…

I don’t normally listen to music on runs unless I’m racing a short race. I ran a 4 mile race yesterday, so I DID listen to music on my last run.

I don’t normally have allergies, but I think I’m developing them. I’ve been sneezing like crazy on runs and hikes lately.

Hi Jenae! My name is Sinda. I was posting running while being prego on fb and my friend Kristen Adams Graham had mentioned something about you. I see that you are going to the Memorial Day race tomorrow. I am excited as well and….this will be my first 5k while being pregnant. The last race I did was a 10k which was couple months ago. I also was pretty early in pregnancy then. I am right at 3 mos. so I hope you can give me some pointers. Awesome blog. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Sinda! Congrats on your pregnancy! You are going to do amazing! Hope to see you at the race!

Oh my gosh! Which wich is my absolute FAVORITE sandwich place. I get the same exact thing EVERY SINGLE TIME and love it just as much each time! I might have to get it for dinner now that you’ve posted about it. YUM.

I’m a new follower and I’m really enjoying your blog! I just had my first Which Wich experience this weekend while visiting my sister in TN. I’m now incredibly upset that I don’t have one near by in Ohio. It was DELICIOUS. I got the grinder and it didn’t disappoint. I’m suffering from allergies worse than ever before. I guess I will just accept the fact that my eyes will water and itch until Winter arrives.

Reply

HEY LINDSEY!! I am so happy that you commented so I could find your blog, you are a very talented photographer and I LOVE your purple dress. I hope that you get to a Which Which soon and that those allergies go away ASAP!

My last run was during the Vermont City Marathon and Relay last Sunday (I did the relay), and Ice Cube’s “Today was a Good Day” came on while I was running. Awesome.

Reply

Oh my gosh. We used to have a Which Wich out here and they closed it and I am still bummed about it! I LOVE their sammies and sometime you’ll have to try one of their milkshakes. Yum!
