A Race Tomorrow and Billy’s Dark Side.

I think you all are under the impression that Billy is an innocent sweet man, this is true 99% of the time but he does have an evil side.

For example:

Photo 2

I leaned over to tell him that I was really hungry during church and within a few seconds he opened up a picture of delicious Krispy Kreme donuts, showed it to me and started doing his evil laugh.  He knew that I wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about them for the rest of church.  (Sorry mom, I did take a picture while in church but it was right before class started).

At least I had a delicious breakfast in the car.  Lemon yogurt, fruit and Love Grown Granola followed by an orange.  We are going to go broke with all of this fruit eating.

We are having a bbq at our house in a little while and I am in charge of dessert, I am going to make THESE. The hardest part about my pregnancy thus far is that I can’t lick the bowl of the dessert I am making because of the raw eggs.  Licking the bowl is the main reason why I made cookie dough/brownie batter/cakes in the past.  I am already learning how much mothers have to sacrifice for their little ones.

I seriously can’t wait for tomorrow morning!  A city a few miles north of us (American Fork for you Utahans) is offering a FREE RACE!!  You can do the 1 mile, 5k or 10k race.  So far me, Billy and my sis are signed up for the 10k and I think that my fellow Utah runners should come do it too!  Click on the picture to get to registration:)

I already made my sister pinky promise me that we would all go to breakfast after the run.  I am thinking waffles, eggs and bacon….planning out a meal that is still 18 hours in the future is part of my daily brain workings.

——————————-

Anyone else running a Memorial Day race?

Do you ever run 10ks?  When and where was your last 10K?

-I can’t even remember the last time I did a 10k…the distance scares me because I feel like I have to sprint for 6 miles but tomorrow I get to just sit back and relax.

Favorite BBQ food?

-Steak, grilled pineapple and grilled asparagus.

I am in the car on my way to my parentals for a BBQ right now. I was in charge of pasta salad=lame. But I know my mom will have every kind of produce from Costco available & homemade raspberry fro yo there so all is well. I think you are a crazy person for going to Costco on a Saturday over memorial day weekend! Was it so crazy?

Billy is mean!

How is there a FREE race so close to me & I didn’t even know about it?! I am seriously considering signing up. I am still having the weird breathing problems though. It was so bad last night I didn’t sleep much. My current prognosis is that I am experiencing allergy induced asthma. Boo..

Reply

Thank you…Billy is mean! OH MY GOODNESS, we will be up to your moms house in a few minutes okay? Sounds delicious. YES, Costco was insane. PLEASE come do the race if you can. BOO to the weird breathing problems, keep me updated with how you are doing.

I’m running that 10k with my mom tomorrow! We live right near there so it’s in the neighborhood. Maybe I’ll see you there!

TRISHA!!! YES, I hope so bad that we see each other. SO EXCITING!

I’ve done one 10k … it was fun, but I’m also not the super-star runner that you are! ;) And yes, your husband is evil. Shame on you, Billy, for showing donuts to a pregnant lady without the promise of immediate delivery!! ;)

Reply

Thank you for being on my side about Billy’s evilness. SO EXCITING YOU ARE CLOSING ON YOUR HOME AHHHH!

I have run 2 10ks and I seriously think it could be my favorite distance. I can’t wait until after baby so I can test that theory.

No races for us tomorrow. My fav. BBQ food is grilled chicken!

10Ks are fun – if you don’t mind suffering a little bit. I like to say that its 97% of the same effort level as a 5K, except for twice as long :-) 10Ks used to be super popular, but over the last 5 years or so, half-marathons became all the rage, and good ones are harder to find now. Same thing for one-mile road races. I know I shouldn’t come down and race since I just did yesterday, but its soooo tempting to run the 10K/Mile double! Have fun and good luck – the weather should hopefully break and the sun will be out tomorrow for the first time this weekend.

Hahaha your husband is funny!

I am running this race too!!! Maybe I will see you there! I have been reading your blog for quite some time so, if some crazy random girl comes and says hi…dont be alarmed! :)

I am running the Laguna Hills Half Marathon tomorrow! Decided yesterday. Which seems to be a habit of mine to decide to run a race less than a week before the actual race. Oh well :)

Reply

Good luck on your half tomorrow, you are going to rock it. Please let me know how it goes..I want details!

That’s awesome that there’s a free race! I ran a race yesterday, but nothing planned for tomorrow. I’m thinking of forcing Mike to run with me.

We’re headed to a bbq RIGHT NOW!

We are having pork bbq tomorrow with my dad’s famous hot slaw. My favorite grilled food (it’s actually smoked) is Daniel’s deer poppers. Marinated deer meat (you could use steak – or you could do what we do and use deer but tell people it’s steak muahahaha), a jalapeno slice, wrapped in bacon and then smoked. Delicious!

Reply

Okay, Natalie. You are pulling a billy by telling me about your awesome bbq tomorrow and not letting me have any:) JK….I seriously will be down in a few hours for Daniel’s deer poppers!

Reply

wow, so jealous there is a free race near you. I wish I was doing a race!

If I was a little closer I would so participate in the race. I don’t think I could convince the BF to drive 10 hours back and forth to the race when we just did 6. He’s no fun. ;-)

Have a great race & breakfast tomorrow!

I am running my first 10K in September! If I find one sooner than that I am signing up. I’m currently training for one, and depending how that goes I am looking in to running a half marathon in the future! This is all crazy to me because when I first started training for a 5K I never thought I’d make it running a mile straight …and here I am…crazy as ever.

I am running the local 5k it supports the high school track team. I have only run 3 10K. One of them was last weekend and it was 70 degress at the start, I just took it easy and had fun.

Reply

That is awesome Bethany. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

I’ve never run a 10K, but it seems like the perfect distance! I would love it if there was a free race somewhere near me–I would for sure run it!

My parents are having a cook out tonight–we’re grilling hot dogs (and veggies for me and my mom), chips and dip, and baked beans. I’m most excited for s’mores, though! I haven’t had a s’more in years!

Reply

I haven’t run a 10K yet, but I plan to in the near future.
Favorite BBQ? Vegan ribs and Field Roast Sausages

Ran a half marathon in Alexandria (outside of D.C.) today with my twin sis! It was SOOOOOO hot and I thought I had heat exhaustion. Needless to say I didn’t match my PR of 1:40 and finished in 2:14. But I’m so glad I finished considering the conditions!

GOOD LUCK at your race! Hope you have great weather :-)

Reply

CLAIRE!! Great job on your 1/2 marathon, that is AWESOME you ran with your twin sis…I am so jealous. GREAT JOB finishing, seriously the heat is really scary when running, so happy you finished safe and sound.

That’s so cool that they are offering a free race! And I had no idea how much stuff pregnant women have to avoid! Geez! Haha at least you can still eat donuts!

Reply

Haha I would of never believed it without seeing that picture with my own eyes…Billy is 1% evil haha. I wonder if he has shares in Krispy Kreme donuts. :P

Favorite BBQ foods= my mom’s homemade potatoe salad (yum!), bbq chicken, or a good burger :)

Reply

I love BBQs!! Enjoy it :) And yes, that is quite mean of Billy to do that to you in church….I always get SO hungry at church too!

Reply

I never run 10k races because I also feel like I have to sprint the entire time. I love BBQ’s. It’s hard to choose my favorite BBQ food because I love it all. Right now, I’m really liking steak and grilled zucchini.

Reply

Billy is funny.

I ate so much fruit while I was preggo too. V LOVES it now. He loves veggies too. If you give him an option for McDonald’s he normally wants to eat salad bar or fruit instead.

I’m doing a 5k tomorrow w/ the fam. I’m super excited my hubs is running since he still really hates it.
I’ve done one 10k and I actually liked the distance.

Reply

10Ks are my favorite! My legs loooove that distance: not too far, not too short. Just perfect! Have fun at your run tomorrow! I wish I had any race pplans in the near future, but my summer is packed!

Reply

Janae hey girl!! Guess what…ill be running in that race as well!! Im doing the 5K… ( by myself!) sad huh? no one wants to do it with me… but hey, FREE races are awesome. My FIRST 10K is next week, the Utah valley 10k, im excited to do it and this week is still training week for me, so im starting it out with a nice 3-miler and then pushing it up to 6 miles the rest of the week. HOPE TO SEE YA THERE! that would be way fun! ps, i read your blog like twice a day, creepy? haha.

Reply

Mindee!!!!! Your comment absolutely made my day!!! I have to find you tomorrow and I am so excited for your first 10k too.

We did the Nanny Goat 24 hour yesterday, it was amazing. I made it 50 miles and my non running husband joined me and walked 32 miles, amazing day/night.

Don’t feel bad about the photo in church today I was falling asleep. We rushed home from the race after being on our feet for 16 hours, staying to cheer on other races and no sleep, quick showers and to church. It was interesting…

Hey, I was just wondering what is your opinion to getting faster at Marathons. I have been stuck around 3:20 for my last three marathons, one in october, boston, and then one i did today. I really wanna push it to 3:15. Should I do more speed work on shorter runs or just run faster on my longer runs?? I can google all day but I like to get ideas and opinions from other runners like you that I follow all day and have an idea of what kinda runner/person you are… thanks!!

I hope you had a great race. That’s great that’s it’s free. I did a 5k with my family this weekend!

Billy is an evil, evil man! Although baking involved no batter licking, hope you got in some frosting licking instead :)!

Im a bad mommy.. I always lick the bowl.. (I have 3 boys) or at the very least, I lick it first and save them a tiny bit.. and when we make cinnamon buns in an 8″ round dish pan.. I always get the middle because it doesn’t have a crunchy side.. mmm.. I’m sorry kids, I’d die for you guys in a heartbeat, but give up cake batter or the middle bun? My love only runs so deep.. lol

I did the Boston Run to Remember yesterday for my Memorial Day race! I did the 5 mile- so almost a 10k and it was definitely super awkward with pacing and I ended up going out a bit too fast (oops) but still finished in 35:39! My favorite bbq food is definitely grilled pineapple or grilled corn on the cob- yuuuum!

Reply

Very awesome about the free race! Good luck! What a great way to honor all the troups on this holiday!

My favourite BBQ food is most definitely salmon :) We even BBQ it in the winter. It is so much better when done on the BBQ!

I saw your bowl of grapes this morning and HAD to go buy some, so I did and had a snack of grapes and thought of you! :)

I have one word for you: EggBeaters.
I used it in all my baking when I was pregnant and since it’s pasteurized you can eat all the dough and batter you want. You’re welcome :)

Reply

Haha! I would totally do something like that too and flip through food photos to torture someone.

Amen! lol That’s all I have to say to this post cause it’s amazing and I don’t know what else to say! P.S. If you haven’t seen Movin’ Out yet, you would love it! I’m not sure if it’s going to tour again, but if it does you HAVE TO SEE IT! Seriously .woah for Billy Joel fans, and I am one!P.P.S. they like to play his stuff at Jellyrolls, we still gotta go!
