New Clothes, Miles and Turkey

Say hello to the shirts that you will be seeing me in on a 4 day rotation until August 24th.

DSC 1098

I have really been putting off buying maternity shirts but finally caved in.  I thought I would be able to just buy shirts in a bigger size but turns out my torso has grown a foot and needs more material.  It was time to go to Old Navy and stock up on some LONG maternity t-shirts.  Old Navy is my favorite store lately, they have so many cute things and it is so cheap!

After I got home Billy was getting ready to go for a run.  Even though it has been a running funk week for me I still couldn’t get over my running jealousy and decided to join him for 4 miles (a total of 7 for the day).   It started raining a little bit, it was cloudy and we only had to wait for one light, I think it was meant to be that I joined him.

DSC 1097

Chocolate milk refuelage going on in the Jacob’s home.

I really got my creative juices going and made almost an identical dinner to the previous night but even lazier by having turkey instead of eggs in my bagel.  There was also bbq sauce in that sandwich, is that weird?  3 pieces of romaine lettuce totally counts as a serving of vegetables.  No, I didn’t just eat four pretzels, that is all that made it for the picture because heaven forbid I make a meal without snacking the entire time.

And for dessert, a little vanilla pudding and Joey Tribbiani.

I am thinking today will be a short run on the treadmill followed by some time spent on the elliptical.  My mom is taking me up to the airport and I am having her pick me up extra early so that we have plenty of time to stop for frozen yogurt (it has been over a month since my last froyo) on the way up.  Hopefully she is reading this so that she can get her sweet tooth revved up and ready to hang out with me.

———————————————————

Do you ever shop at Old Navy?  What clothing stores do you find the best deals at?

Are you in the habit of having some sort of dessert every day?  Have you always been that way or does the dessert habit come and go?

Do you snack as you make dinner?

What condiments or sauces do you add to your sandwiches?

-Mustard and bbq sauce or mustard and mayonnaise.

I usually have something sweet everyday, I love my sweets! But I often have TJs Cat Cookies because they are chocolatey but have very little fat. They are great!

I love honey mustard on my sandwiches. Yum!

Reply

Oh my goodness…those cat cookies are beyond good. I need to get some while I am in Cali this weekend, thanks for the reminder:)

old navy is hit-or-miss for me. i love the price, but sometimes i just don’t find anything i like, and have to walk away for a few months. i really love target. the prices are reasonable, and i always find something that fits well that i want to wear on a daily rotation. ;-) i would say my wardrobe is half target and half american eagle.

dessert: always. i just made strawberry popsicles with my first really fresh strawberries of the season! chocolate. cake. pie. ICE CREAM. i really do love all dessert.

condiments are almost as bad. i used to love ketchup on everything (and duck sauce, just not at the same time). honey mustard like megan. now barbecue sauce with veggie burgers! that’s my favorite right now.

Reply

Target really does know what they are doing….they have the best stuff! Okay, I really want to try making fresh strawberry popsicles…yum! PS I can’t wait to try to make your granola, it loos so good on your blog.

Reply

I snack before and after dinner! Those t-shirts look super comfy, I love their basics!

Reply

HAHAHA me too…the snacking will never end and I am okay with that:) Have a great weekend Claire!

Reply

Those shirts are cute! Does Target count as a clothing store?;-) Otherwise, I always score awesome deals at The Limited.

Yep, I always have dessert. We had it every day growing up too (if we finished our meal) I thought it was odd when I went to friends houses and they didn’t have dessert, I mean who doesn’t have a treat after they eat;-)

Happy, happy Friday!!!!

Reply

Target definitely counts as a clothing store!!! I haven’t been to the Limited in forever, I miss that store. We had dessert every day too when we were kids, our parents hooked us both for life ha!

Reply

When I read the title I was like OMG Miles! What a great name for their child… and then I remembered you are having a girl. I vote Miles for your first boy (you are putting the name to a vote right :p)

Reply

I love your comment:) Miles would be perfect for a little speedy boy! Have a great day Cheryl!

Reply

Old Navy shorts are my favorite. I always have trouble finding shorts that fit just right.. not too short.. or long. The 5″ perfect short meet all of my.. credentials for shorts! They usually have awesome sales for them too!

Reply

I bought some of their shorts too…glad you love them too, they really are perfect! Have an amazing day Cait!

Reply

Some kind of dessert has to happen every night for me! Lately it’s been yogurt with almonds, berries and honey which really does hit the spot! And shame on you, my friend, for going so long without fro yo….you better GO BIG today to make up for lost time :)! Otherwise I will have to do so on your behalf!

Reply

Dang your desserts are HEALTHY…are they called desserts then ha:) I will get enough froyo for the both of us! Hope you are having an amazing day gorgeous girl!

Reply

mustard on everything please! no i don’t snack while making dinner generally- because then i spoil the meal!! but definitely “snack” after dinner on dessert. this is generally referred to as my second dinner.

Reply

We need to get little mustard bottles for our purses so we can take them everywhere! SECOND DINNER…and that is why I love you!

Reply

Almost every item of clothing I own comes from the Loft. They are always having some sort of sale or sending me coupons, PLUS they have teacher discounts!!

Reply

Don’t hate me but I have never been to the Loft but you have now totally convinced me that I NEED TO! Have a great day Alyssa!

Reply

totally not wierd to put BBQ sauce on your sandwich! I do it all the time!

Reply

OH good….I never know if the random things I put together are normal or not:) Have a great weekend Sara!

Reply

I have a desert habit that comes and goes. I try to make it “semi” healthy at least. My recent one is All natural PB mixed with Nutella, dipping pretzels in it. OMG. heaven. About a year ago it was Fro-Yo….every single night:-)

I like to use mustard or hummus as sandwich condiments.

Reply

Good for you to make semi healthy desserts and froyo every night sounds great to me. AHHH good idea with the hummus, I will definitely be picking some up now for my next sandwich.

Reply

honey mustard on any sandwich makes it better. but with my egg/turkey/bagel sammy i usually use mayo and ketchup which is weird bc i dont like mayo on anything! weird!

i need dessert every day. last night i blended up a frozen banana and dumped it into a 1/2 empty peanut butter jar and then added chocolate syrup! mmmm!

Reply

Okay, it is official, I MUST try your sandwich combination. Your dessert from last night sounds amazing, great idea.

Reply

Try oldnavy.com– usually you can find some sort of coupon code online to get an extra discount AND they have a great clearence section online.

I HAVE to have dessert every. single. day. I mean– who doesn’t?!?! Is it not normal to have dessert every day?

I loooooove spicy mustard on sandwiches. But, I’m weird… so, if I have mustard, the sandwich can’t have cheese. Told you– weird. :)

Reply

You are right…I just checked it out online and they are having a 25% off sale today. Thanks for telling me about that. YUM spicy mustard is a great idea. Definitely normal to have dessert EVERY day (usually twice a day for me:)

Reply

I go to Old Navy for their t shirts – so comfy and cheap. I love Francescas, Charmin Charleys and H&M for most of my outfits :)

I love snacking on mozzarella when I am cooking :)

Reply

I have never heard of Francescas or Charmin Charleys…must google now.

Reply

I do like Old Navy but I find the stores picked over, so I order my stuff online from them and there are always great deals.
I try and not have dessert every night, I have such a bad sweet tooth it is not a good habit for me, haha. But I try and balance say a healthier dessert like yogurt and fruit with the more unhealthy desserts or just have dessert when I really want it, many times I just want it cause even if I am full.
Usually I don’t snack, but sometimes I will pick at the veggies if I am chopping lots of them up.
I am not a huge condiment fan, but lately I love hummus and mashed avocado on my sandwiches or toast.

I found when I was looking for maternity clothes that they had much better selections online instead of in the stores. Check out the websites: Old Navy, Target, Walmart, JC Penny – you will find much more there than they have in the store. Walmart is crazy cheap and of course the quality isn’t the best but you wont be wearing it long so it doesn’t mater. With the summer months you will need LOTS of tank tops and get the maternity ones with the little snaps on the straps for breast feeding, they are the best. And shorts. If you feel you get hot during pregnancy just wait til you start breastfeeding, major heat wave with all the hormones.

Reply

I haven’t been clothes shopping in so long that I didn’t realize they changed the tax on clothes here last year! YIKES! Good thing I work in pajamas and running clothes all day.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Reply

I haven’t been to Old Navy in a while but now I need to go! I love Target! I swear I get the softest/cutest shirts and summer dresses there for cheap!

If I’m cooking I constantly snack while making dinner. Sometimes I feel like I have eaten an entire meal by the time I do eat.

Reply

i dont shop at old navy too often but i used to shop there all the time. i still buy tank tops from there though :) i always find either good deals online or at target/forever 21!

i always need something dessert like in my day. its usually ice cream!

ummm i snack all the time, so i suppose while making dinner, yes ;)

depending on the sandwich but i love mayo, mustard, ketchup and sometimes ranch…super healthy ;)

Reply

Old Navy always has some cute finds! I also love H&M for good deals- super cheap but very trendy! I always have to snack while I make dinner- I actually posted about this 2 days ago haha. Usually chips and salsa/fruit/peppers/hummus etc are my snacks.

I have dessert everyday. I wish I could say that I could go a day without having something sweet but thats hands down not the case. My sweet tooth is ridiculous. For sandwich condiments I use honey mustard and hummus the most! Pesto is delish too

Reply

i like old navy most of the time… they seem to be hit or miss for me, but recently they’ve had some super cute stuff! i also love ross & tj maxx for some good finds.
i always like to have a little something sweet after dinner. sometimes it’s a big bowl of ice cream while other times it’s a small piece of dark chocolate. just something to satisfy my incredibly large sweet tooth. :)

Reply

Yes! I love Old Navy… especially since I got a $25 gift card for my birthday in February! {birthdays are the best}

and Yes! I pretty much eat a “dessert” every day… or night. Yikes. I think it started with my mom and I having a bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream every night… My dad would be away traveling, she would be taking care of my 4 brothers, and at the end of the day- she wanted to catch up with me!- her favorite and only daughter :)

Reply

Old Navy and Target were my go-to spots when I was pregnant. I refused to buy much because it seemed so silly but it’s a necessity to be comfortable!

My dessert (if I am lazy and don’t want to make anything) is a handful(or more) or chocolate chips. Yum! I’m in love with Hershey’s Special Dark.

Reply

I love Old Navy AND they have great baby clothes, too, for some great prices!! Which I’m sure you’ve already discovered!
I keep a bag of chocolate chips in my freezers and eat a little bit daily. It’s a need.
Avacados and Mayo are mists for my sandwhiches. :)

Reply

Seriously, I could spend a million dollars on their baby clothes…so so cute. I am going to put my butterscotch chips in the freezer, thanks for the great idea!

Reply

My preggo friend had to do the same thing, she hasn’t really gotten that big so far but needed longer shirts!

Reply

Love your cute new shirts!!! You’re such an inspiration and encouragement! I constantly think to myself how you are pregnant and still so concerned about running and fitness. It helps me in that three seconds when I’m deciding whether or not I should workout. No joke, I pull up your page, and then lace up my sneakers. :]

I like ON once in awhile–they have to have some good stuff–but unfortunately the clothes often don’t last very long. Le sigh. But those shirts are cute!

Have a GREAT trip! Fro yo is always a must on a weekend :)

Reply

Love Old Navy’s maternity section, but typically only the online stuff. It’s hard for me to find cute stuff in stores. Thankfully I don’t need maternity clothes…yet….but I know the time is coming ;)
I have had such a hard time finding cute maternity clothes. Craig & I went to the mall this past weekend to look for some, and I got NOTHING. There were NO cute clothes…and barely ANY clothes in general.
Hope you have a great trip! Xo

Reply

Oh, Janae! Have you ever made your own mustard? It’s pretty easy, and you can make all sorts of variations… I like adding garlic, horseradish, or even plain agave. Delicious! :)

Reply

Old Navy is hit or miss for me. I feel as if their quality has really gone down. But, I can usually find a classic pair of khaki pants there. Mustard is about the only condiment I can use. I’m not really into snacks, but I’m at my Dad’s in Maine and he bought Gifford’s ice cream-so good! I’ve been eating it every night!

Reply

Running jealousy, that phrase made me giggle because I so can relate.

If a bowl of cereal counts as dessert than I have it every single night. However, now there is this weird desire in me to give it up just cause breaking a habit is a challenge. Yikes, do I need a life?

Happy travels.

I love Old Navy. They have the most comfy maternity clothes and I think almost all of my maternity clothes were from Old Navy. I also like their tank tops and shorts. I love dessert but rarely have it daily. I don’t usually snack while cooking. I save my appetite for the meal. My favorite condiments on a sandwich are mayo, spicy mustard and sometimes salsa.

Reply

I am an equal opportunity shopper. I usually hit up Old Nave a few times a year. Sometimes I find a lot that I love, sometimes I walk-out empty-handed. It’s all in the thrill of the hunt!

Right now I’m trying to avoid sweets, because I would eat them all day if given a chance. Vicious cycle!

My sandwiches always get a bit of mayo. Not Miracle-Whip! Thing I gagged just typing that…

Reply

I have something sweet every single day. I really need to get better about limiting my super indulgent sweets, but I just love them so much! I snack all the time. I am definitely the snackiest person ever.

My favorite store to find good deals is definitely Marshalls!

Reply

Cute tops!!!

Ok so I totally went to subway last night and got a spinach salad with their new BBQ chicken on top. He asked me what kind of dressing I wanted and without hesitation I said BBQ Sauce! He seriously gave me the strangest look and I really wanted to pull the “I’m pregnant” card so he would be so judgy. So no BBQ sauce on turkey sounds delish in my world!!!! :)

Dessert Always. And Forever.

Reply

A month since you last had froyo!?!? Craziness! Enjoy it, and the time with your mom!

Reply

Love the new shirts! Old Navy is seriously the best. Have an amazing weekend my friend. :)

I always shop at Old Navy! My whole outfit today is Old Navy! I also wanted to give you this link because I saw it on Pinterst.. and I thought of you.. I hope that is not weird!! Enjoy! http://purplechocolathome.blogspot.com/2011/09/pizza-factory-breadsticks.html

I love Ann Taylor Loft. It can be pricey, but they are always sending coupons AND they have a teachers discount!!! I always find their stuff lasts me longer than other clothes.

I go through condiment phases. I used to put ketchup on everything, even my sandwiches. Then it was BBQ sauce. Now that I’m pregnant, I put miracle whip on everything. It’s kind of disgusting :)

Reply

I just bought that same brown striped shirt (not maternity, just regular) there about a month ago and have to restrain myself from wearing it every day! It’s super cute. I like Old Navy, but actually didn’t ever like their maternity clothes on me for some reason. Too boxy? I don’t know. I like Gap Maternity if I can find good sales. Their mat jeans are the best fitting on my pregnant body.

I find all my best clothes at Target. I couldn’t live without it, even if the closest one is an hour and a half away!

Reply

I love love love Target. Most of my wardrobe is from Target.

I dont think its weird that you put BBQ sauce on your bagel. I put sauce on almost anything. Can’t eat sandwiches/burgers/chicken/steak wihtout something to dip it in or at least have some sauce on it. BBQ is a favorite.

I always crave something sweet after lunch and dinner. Don’t always eat something sweet, but I sure always want to.

Reply

Cute shirts! I always snack while I’m cooking.. it’s quality control ;)

Reply

I don’t usually shop at old navy, its mostly a hit or miss, you can sometimes find cute shirts at the store here, but rarely. I always have dessert, or at least something before bed since I workout first thing without eating. Dessert is sometimes my biggest meal.

Reply

I’m a mustard girl…love me some mustard.

Lately my sweet tooth habit has come and gone but I have a feeling once marathon training starts (this Saturday) and those miles start ramping up I will be craving some sweets once again!

Reply

I don’t usually snack as I make dinner, but I AM in the habit of having dessert every day after dinner. I’ve been like this for as long as I can remember. It’s a tough habit to break. ;)

Reply

Just a question — I am also pregnant…and i see that you eat turkey (lunch meat) and I was told by my doctor to stay away from lunch meat due to the bacteria that is in it and it could be harmful to the baby…have you heard this?? I know the lost of do’s and don’ts while pregnant is a MILE long so I am realyl just wondering if this is something you have ever heard? Thanks!!!

Reply

Hey!!! I have hear that and I asked my doctor and he said it is fine as long as it is coming from a good place (not some random vendor on the street or something and it is refrigerated and not eaten after sitting out for awhile! Hope that helps!

Reply

You are barely showing–my friends couldn’t believe how tiny you were in Cali and due in august! Looking healthy and beautiful!

I think my grandma instilled a sweet tooth in me. Especially after dinner–I have to have something!

Reply

Lately I am all about putting BBQ sauce on everything minus desserts. It’s just so smokey and delicious…irresistible! Grainy Dijon mustard had also been overused the past couple of months. I can’t get enough!

Reply

I do like Old Navy. The prices are reasonable for something my dogs are just going to ruin with mud.

Reply

I love ON , but I usually enjoy it more in the States! I’m a dessert everyday girl. My dad used to have it everyday when I was growing up so I did too. I’m trying to break the habit but it’s tough!

Reply

I’m a big Old Navy fan too! Cheap and decent clothes.
I eat something sweet every single day. I can’t help it. If I don’t get something sweet, it’s usually substituted by coffee with french vanilla creamer!:X

Reply

Ok, I missed that you are going out of town. :(

I love ON. I just got a code for 25% off today (I think that was the amount)

Reply

I love Old Navy, I have been on a bit of a “no shopping” streak this year, trying to save money and pay off my credit cards, but I can’t wait to start shopping again and Old Navy will definitely be a stop on the shopping train!

Reply

I love ON too but it’s often hit or miss. I’m pretty cheap when it comes to close buying. If it isn’t onsale or I don’t loooove it I often dont buy it. A favorite store o mine because of their great sales and teachers discount is New York and Company and am a huge fan of all their bright colored clothes lately.
I tend to be an occasional dessert person but it’s not a necessity. Savory is my cup of tea. I do often snack for dinner. Especially it my husband isn’t home. Sometimes it’s just easier to graze than make a complete meal.
