2 Awesome Internet Finds

A few days ago at Costco I was able to talk Billy into spending $9 on grapes because I told them they would last me at least 2 weeks and therefore they would actually be a great deal.

4lbs of grape /  4 days  / 1 girl = 1 lb of grapes eaten a day = A very sad and gloomy morning when I remembered I was all out and had to do without my favorite 8 a.m. tradition of grape eating.

Today’s workout was a one mile run (just to test out the ankle and wahoo it felt great) and 45 minutes on the elliptical.  Fridays are always awesome at work and today was even better because it is Teacher Appreciation Week (pretty sure this is the 3rd time this year they have celebrated this) and so they had a BBQ for us.

I usually have a salad for lunch every day but now I might convert over to a daily noon burger.  The white stuff on the plate was a mixture of vanilla pudding, cool whip and fruit…WOW.  What you do not see: the 45 strawberries that I consumed before and after the photo.

So far my plan for tomorrow is that I am going to run the 1/2 but call my mom to pick me up (the course is right by their house) if anything starts hurting.  I am addicted to the racing scene and all of my friends will be there so I absolutely cannot wait for tomorrow but want to be smart and play it safe too.  The last bus leaves at 5:30 a.m. so it will be an early morning for us!

2 awesome internet finds of the day:

A fartlek workout from Kara Goucher that I can’t wait to try out (although I probably won’t go for 104 minutes;)

2.  Cinnamon-sugar is my thing lately and I found these and had a minor heart attack from excitement.  Click on picture for link.

Who wants to come over for a bread eating dinner followed by a slumber party and a run in the morning?  I probably sound creepy inviting you over for a slumber party, for that I am sorry.

I go through grapes like no one’s business. Have you tried freezing them?! Who am I kidding — you so probably have. But, anyhoo, that is my favorite way to eat them. Makes the best nighttime snack!

That bread would be awesome. If I made it, I would have to eat it all cuz the BF doesn’t like sweets. Sad. I’m getting marathon #2 done tomorrow! Yay!

20K tomorrow morning! yippee.

Lunch was a left over brat from last nights grill out, and I was thinking it was a fan-mother-sticking-tastic change up from the usual salad.

WHO ELSE IS RACING THIS WEEKEND?
Not racing :( but I am going to watch a 9 yr old and a 5 yr old play soccer tomorrow morning!!!

The macaroni and cheese just came out of the oven, so I must be racing this weekend! The recipe came from the internet, and it is my awesome go-to for mac n’ cheese. I have a half marathon on Sunday, but my toe is broken in a million different places, so I am going to wait until tomorrow night to make the call. I would always take strawberries. I would take 1 lb of strawberries over 4 lbs of grapes. In fact, the farmers’ market opens here tomorrow, and I plan on getting lots of fresh local strawberries.

Reply

I will bring the grapes. You make the bread and I will see you in a few ;)

Have so much fun tomorrow. I will pray that your ankle feels great. I am just going for a somewhat long run and praying that my knees stop feeling all weird. They don’t hurt, but I don’t want this weird feeling to turn into an injury. Boo.

I had left over BBQ pizza for lunch that we had for dinner last night. It was tasty!

Reply

Give me some cottage cheese and I could eat 4lbs of grapes right now! One of my favorite combos … ever!

I am going to be running the Provo 1/2 as well! I’m not looking forward to the commute from Bountiful to Provo so early in the morning. I might just be on that 5:30am bus.

Reply

I have made that bread and it’s EPIC! Good luck on the half! I’m deciding if I’m going to run mine next week due to a cranky it band!

Reply

I just made cinnamon and sugar monkey bread and it fell apart when it came out of the oven. So I ate it. So much better than sharing.

No racing for me this weekend, but I’m definitely game for a slumber party.

I am running a 12K this Sunday, it is the farthest distance I will have ever run at one time so I am a little nervous. It is also the biggest race I have ever run so I am very excited! I also had to comment because my lunch was FroYo and I knew you would be proud. Not the best pre-race fuel. I’m actually going to Costco right now and I hope to find some delicious strawberries and samples!

Reply

grapes grapes grapes! but only the purple ones. i HATE green grapes.

Reply

I LOVE grapes!! I miss ’em, haven’t had them in awhile. MUST get to Costco soon! Good luck tomorrow!

I just went to the hospital to meet my friend’s baby girl (born yesterday). I’m sure they will be running around soon enough, like that picture of Kara and her baby :D
Have a wonderful weekend and I hope your ankle feels fine during the whole race tomorrow!

Reply

Good luck tomorrow, looking forward to hearing how it goes! Not gonna lie, I’m highly impressed with the mass grape consumption. I personally would opt for the strawberries, they’re my favorite fruit this time of year-in fact, I’m eating some in my dinner salad right now. Probably a good thing I’m eating a salad, as my lunch was definitely an apple…and a GIANT chocolate chip cookie. Oops.

Reply

Grapes, hands down!

Yum that cinnamon bread looks delish!! I could go for some of that right now.. or 4 pounds of grapes. I’m not really a strawberry person.

Good luck in your race this weekend! Hope you run it healthy and have fun.

I totally want to come over and have a sleepover! I will bring the donuts!

Hi janae !!

I would be so upset if there was no grapes too, I was super angry at my beef (bf) this morning because he told me last night that the bananas in his fridge were NOT greenish, but at brekky at 6.30am this morning they were Infact GREENISH !!   Noo!

I decided not to race today (with athletics Victoria cross country) because my coach said the course is really bad . (I’m getting good at injury prevention too!) . Instead we did 3 x 2.2 km laps . The pace was 3.30-4.00 and each lap had an annoying & painful incline at the end. !!

It’s a Saturday here in Australia , which means I am in the future. !!

Lunch was sushi, I only get to have sushi 1 or 2 times a week because the sushi shop that is good is about 30km from my house.

I find sweet ideas for teaching & food on PINTREST all the time. Last night I was up until 1am on it , so addicted. I didn’t know Kara goucher had a blog, I think I might aim to copy her training program hehe.

I would love to join your slumber if you can find A way to invent teleportation in the next couple of hours. Then teleport me to Utah!

I´m racing today! So exciting, I´m trying to PR and I am a nervous wreck at the moment!
The race is an afternoon start so I`ll be having a light lunch. I`m thinking lunch could be a sandwich and fruit juice.
Right now I would choose strawberries because they are not yet in season here and the price of those sweet things is just ridiculously high. Haven`t had them for a while but I`ve sure been having my share of grapes lately to compensate :)

Good luck on your race today Janae!

Reply

That cinnamon pull apart bread looks tasty!!

Reply

Good luck at the race! Carb loading (cinnamon bread style) is a GREAT pre-race idea!! :)

Reply

Have fun at your race Janae – Hope your ankle hangs in there!!! I am running my first marathon Sunday morning!! I am so excited I am going to explode!!!
