My talent and the freezer of happiness.

If someone was to ask me what are my top five talents in this life, making Snickerdoodle Cupcakes would be number 3.  Making the fluffy frosting would be number 2 and I am too tired to think of what other talents would make the top 5 but I guarantee they have to do with food.

I use the Martha Stewart Cupcake cookbook for these and every cupcake recipe we have tried from this book have turned out amazing.

I make the sugary goodness and billy does the grilling.

The asparagus were added later to my plate once they were done and another plateful of watermelon was consumed shortly after.  Billy wins the award for picking the world’s best watermelon.

For dinner (we ate lunch at 4ish) we ate cheez-its while watching the NBA semi-finals.  I am including this picture for one reason only…  My brother-in-law and his creepy cheez-it eating face.

My parents have a second freezer that I have never really looked in until yesterday.  Look at the gold mine I came across.  Mom, Billy and I are moving back in.  Ice cream, frozen waffles and cheese are the only things I need to survive.

We have now recruited 7 family members to come run the 10k we are doing this morning and after we are all going to a pancake breakfast.  This might be a happiness overload for me…..family, running and carbohydrates drenched in syrup?!?!

Do you have the day off today?  What are your Memorial Day plans?  Will you be with any family today?

What is your favorite cookbook?  What cookbook do you use the most often?

Love or hate hot dogs?

-I really like them but I pretty much love everything except for olives.

What was the last cupcake flavor that you had?

Woo good luck on the 10 k…no motivation like a stack of pancakes to get you through a run :)! As much as I love cooking, I can’t remember the last time I actually flicked through a cookbook. I am not ashamed to say that I am a slave to technology, and hence the internet is my go-to for recipes!

Have fun at the race today–how fun to have so many family memebers running!!!

How do you make the frosting so pretty?

I have the day off, the husband has a short day. I am planning on relaxing, it was a busy weekend.

I would be starting my half-marathon training today, but sadly Tropical Storm Beryl has deferred my running. Its awful to watch The Weather Channel right now, all I keep hearing is heavier rain and gustier winds coming towards Savannah :-( I just want to run!!!

Love hot dogs with caramelized onions, sauerkraut, and relish. Delicious, also love a good chili cheese dog.

If I go to Ikea, I always have to have a hotdog. Without fried onions though, I don’t like them. Ok, I would even go to Ikea just for the hotdogs.

Day off in Germany too. Pentecost is a national holiday here.

I a great chocolate cupcake recipe. The last one I had was from Crumbs and I was really disappointed When you spend that kind of money on a cupcake, it should melt in your mouth. I had to cough it down, it was so dry.

The only thing on my agenda today is a short run. Thank goodness for that!

I am disgusted by hotdogs but I’ll eat sausage. And my last cupcake was Red Velvet. Have a great holiday with your family!

I really like the Veganomicon cookbook, but I also get a lot of recipes online, or I make them up. Usually if I try something at a restaurant I can sort of figure out a way to make something similar- or at least not awful!

No Memorial Day here but I get this coming Friday off – I booked some leave so that I could take my boyfriend on a surprise weekend away! Very excited!!

Your photographing skills are mad good in this post! Those cupcakes look amazing. I would have to say my favorite cupcakes are carrot cake cupcakes w/ cream cheese frosting. Delish.

Those cupcakes look amazing! The last one I had was a Guinness chocolate cupcake for St Patty day I think. I LOVE hot dogs! I will not eat them boiled or steamed though, yuck, grilled only please.

Have fun with the race! I ran a 5K yesterday and made my goal time :)

My favorite two cookbooks are Peas and Thank you and eat, drink and be vegan, but I mostly cook from recipes I find on blogs!
Hate! Unless they are in the form of a turkey smokie. Then like :)
A chocolate neapolitan, I bought it for my husband’s birthday and he gave me a bite!

Have fun running with your family this morning! That sounds great!

Mmmm could you email me some of those cupcakes? They look amazing, I’m a serious cupcake fanatic!

Hot dogs are the best, especially when done on the BBQ. Haha and now I’m hungry. Must stop reading your posts first thing in the morning, they make me want cupcakes and hot dogs!

Have fun at the race today! I love that you run with your family…that would be so awesome.

I’m headed to my sister’s house for a family picnic today, and I’m pumped!

I’m strange and only like the taste of hot dogs at baseball games….must be the atmosphere!

Those lemonade fruit bars are amazing! How did you have self control over that freezer? I would have dug in immediately!

Hope you are having a great holiday!

Both Daniel and I are off today, and we are planning to spend the day with my family at a cookout/pool party.

I have so many cookbooks…I like to read them like novels. I have multiple favorites, but the Better Homes & Garden classic cookbook (red and white) has come in very handy!

I love grilled hot dogs, especially at a baseball game or a camping trip.

I love my Martha cookbooks. I am currently working through the cookie one and the cupcake one. Those look great. I might have to try those next. Only problem is that we have no one to eat them. Hope your family 10k went well. It’s super hot here. Thankfully we had our cookout yesterday so I can a avoid heat stroke today. Lol. Instead I will be going shopping to pick out a running outfit for next weeks half haha

I do not have the day off … Canadian! That’s okay, it was my turn last Monday.

Enjoy your race! I think it’s extremely cool that you can recruit that many family members to get involved. I don’t know how many of my family members would willingly give a chunk of their day to run with me!

Your cupcakes look picture perfect!! :D

Red Velvet was the last cupcake flavor I had – So good too!

Your cupcakes are iced perfectly! Are you sure thats not your #1 ;)

Last cupcake I had was a delicious Cookie dough cupcake. My aunt made them and she is amazing!

How fun to do a family 10K!

Already walked in a 1.5 mile parade with the girl scout troops. May be hitting the pool later–depends on whether the kids let me nap first since it’s been such a busy weekend.

Love cookbooks put together by church groups or communities because it means real people are able to make the recipes. Sometimes the famous-people cookbooks have obscure ingredients or kitchen tools required.

Like hot dogs (mustard only–no relish or ketchup).

I do have the day off and I nailed the 5K I ran this morning with a PR!
Last cupcake flavor was Peanut butter cup choclate cake with pb ganach and pb frosting. I like hot dogs, but love a good burger.

I had carrot cupcakes with cream-cheese frosting – my absolute FAVOURITE!! Also, if that’s Billy’s bro, they look SO much alike!

Reply

Awww how FUN!!! Also, I love grilled asparagus. I don’t have a grill… so I bought a george foreman, almost exclusively for that reason. Hehe

I LOVE that your family is together and running a 10k as one! WOW! Ice cream consumed post-run I imagine?!

Perfect eats for an extended weekend and your picture should be on a cookbook! I see can see it! Beautiful!

Your burger/watermelon meal looks so delicious! Please tell us how you get the frosting arranged so perfectly on those cupcakes?? I can’t pipe icing worth a donkey, so any helpful hint you have would make my day off work extra special! It would be complete if I could actually grab one of those cupcakes through this computer screen, but sadly Macs aren’t THAT cool yet :)

I had to work today … boo! But I hope you guys had fun at your 10k!!! :)

Hope you had fun at your race! I completed one of my running goals this morning, of being able to run for 3 miles without walking! Woot! One day I’ll be a gazelle like you! Hubby was on duty all weekend so we are just being lazy together today-no major plans. Last cupcakes were strawberry vegans that I made for a friend. Strawberry cake mix + 1 can strawberry soda, mix together and pour into liners. Top with icing, but make sure to check the ingredients. Most commercial icings are vegan, but a few have sneaky additives. Vegan happiness! Favorite “cookbook” would be allrecipes.com, because I love seeing all the comments from people who have tried the recipes. Fresh off the grill hot dog? Sign me up! :)

Those cupcakes look so cute and yummy, good job!
My neighbor brought us couple of cupcakes from this bakery specialized in cupcakes, the flavors were red velvet and chocolate mint… were both delish!

Whoa, that second freezer is a gold mine! I could live in there.

I hope you kicked Billy’s booty in the 10k!!! hehe!
mumm we are DEFINITELY making these cupcakes when you get to Cali and we have a SWEET party to celebrate!
LOVE U J!!!
xoxo!

Those cupcakes look professional! I’m seriously impressed.

I have today off, but I have yet to run. It’s so hot and humid. I might just be a wuss and run on the TM. Meanwhile, my dad and brother have been power washing our house all afternoon. I’m so lazy.

I have the day off! Gonna play outside this afternoon.

My favorite cookbook is “Fix-it and Forget-it.” Love that thing!

Not a fan of hot dogs.

Last cupcake flavor I had was a double chocolate cupcake. Was so good!

I ran my first 10k this morning… finished it in 55:14 (could have probably ran in under 55 but A LOT of people came to a complete stand still at the water stations and wouldn’t move to the side which made it hard to get around them). Beautiful weather and the course took us through a really pretty residential area complete with sprinklers the homeowners set up for the runners.. felt like a kid!

Felt the blisters forming around mile 4 but figured I’d made it that far, I wasn’t stopping for anything lol. But I sure was feeling it a work after. After work, my boyfriend took me to get Frozen Yogurt which was awesome :).

Hope your race and holiday are going well!

So exciting that your family is running with you! I have succeeded in getting 2 of my cousins addicted to running and one will be running a 5k with me in a few weeks – my first time doing that short of a distance in YEARS so I’m pumped!!

Also I’ve taken up cake and cupcake decorating as a side hobby because I’m secretly 45 years old, mastering frosting cala lilies is my next goal :)

Hi Janae! I rarely comment but I just had to add that the picture of your BIL eating the cheez its made my day. Funniest thing ever :)

I love raiding my parents’ fridge and freezer. They’ve always got something great that I would never buy myself. My personal favs are the little cups of ice cream that come with a wooden spoon to eat them with. Love those. Before I leave their house…every single time, I grab a Coke to go. That’s my Coke fix. I never buy them. It’s such a treat!

Omg that extra freezer is STOCKED!
