Why are weddings so fun?

Even though we had to get ready in a random bathroom up in Salt Lake (because we didn’t have time to drive home after the race), we both had blisters on our feet and my eyeballs were tired from waking up at 4:30, we still had a beyond fun day at one of my best friends wedding.  (It is incredible how I can write an entire paragraph with just one sentence)

If you don’t like pictures, this is not the post you want to be reading.  I already have a feeling there may be more pictures than words in this one.  For some reason race recaps take me longer to write so I will have it up later in the day and Billy will be writing one too!

The gorgeous bride (that is also the groom in the picture).

Luckily before anything else there was a luncheon, both Billy and I were starving and more than ready to eat.

Bacon, strawberries and strawberry poppyseed dressing…pure genius.

For the main course they served chicken cordon bleu with the ham on the outside instead of the inside, potatoes and veggies.  I ate my first bite of broccoli in the last 5 months and I was right all along, I still can’t stand it.

You know when your plate has that much sauce on it that it is going to be delicious.

I am glad luncheons are on my side and know how important it is to have dessert in the middle of the day too.

The wedding was absolutely perfect and the weather couldn’t have been better.  After a bunch of pictures and hanging out around SLC we headed back down to the reception for more pictures.  The girl to the right of me was also another bff in high school and we are due the exact same week….we may have talked about pregnancy for 3 hours straight today and already arranged our children to be bffs.

High school reunion:)

Hello artichoke dip that was so delicious that I dipped everything into it (including my fruit).  This was plate one of three.

Of course there was cake.  When I went back to the food tables to get another piece I ended up grabbing 6 chunks of cheese with crackers instead, can’t get enough of that stuff.  I am thinking of getting a part time job at a cheese factory in order to fulfill my needs, does anyone have a connection for me to get a job?

The little football is because my bff married a BYU football player.

We were in our pajamas with our feet up within 12 seconds of getting home.  Today will involve a ridiculous amount of time on the couch.

Married peeps…..did you have good weather on your wedding?  What did your wedding dress look like?

When was the last wedding that you went to?

Do you run the day after a race?

-I don’t think I ever have!

Last summer we flew to a friends wedding in San Diego. It ended up being a weekend reunion with college friends….so…..much……fun.

I always run a super slow shake out 3-4 Miler the day after a race. Gets that blood flowing and muscles loosened.

The bride is GORGEOUS. Glad you had fun!!

The last wedding I went to was about 6 weeks ago, it was a good friend in college who got married in her tiny home town in SC! Glad you had a great time!

My friends are starting to get married so I’m sure many weddings are right around the corner. If the food is anything like the one you just went to, I’ll be happy. All that looked amazing! I’m also super impressed you transitioned from runner to wedding guest that fast. Plus, your hair looks awesome!

So pretty! I love her dress – PS great job on your half yesterday!!

My wedding is in June plus I have 3 other weddings to attend this summer (yay!)…I’m really crossing my fingers that the weather in MN is beautiful on June 9th!

You clean up great in a random bathroom;-) Lovely pictures!

Enjoy resting up today! I have only ran the day after a 5k (needed a long run). It was rough, but it felt good to loosen up the legs.

Great pics and beautiful wedding! I think I’m at the point where all my friends are more or less married- so I get a little break!
NICE job on your half- you MUST give me pointers on how to get so gorgeous in a random bathroom too!

My wedding was in June and it was a perfect day. I can’t remember the last wedding I’ve been to. It’s been a while!
I never run the day after a race, which means today I’ve earned some rest today. I ran a 10k race yesterday at an 8:30 pace and won 1st place (female) overall! I was so shocked I won!
Great job on your 1/2 yesterday and enjoy your couch time today!!

Seriously, HOW did you get ready after a 1/2 marathon in a public bathroom?! Did they have showers? You look great :-)

And I love the coordinating outfits…were you guys bridesmaids? Really pretty.

Congrats on your great time in the race!!

Reply

I love the BM outfits- very unique!
The weather at our wedding was pretty good. It could have gone either way with a late September wedding in Alberta, Canada!
Enjoy a day of relaxation; you guys deserve it!

Those coordinating bridesmaids outfits were ridiculously cute! And they looked good on everyone, which is hard to pull off. I had an indoor wedding in August and the weather outdoors was gorgeous! Our reception area was a little warm because of it though. I loved my wedding and especially loved my wedding reception. My Dad always said you could just FEEL the love everyone had for us, which is exactly the kind of wedding/reception we wanted. It was so much fun! I love weddings because I know what is in store for the couple, and it’s a beautiful thing to watch two people grow together and make a family together. Beautiful!

It rained the morning of our wedding, and our ceremony was to be outside. Thankfully it stopped just in time, but my chairs had been delivered early and so they were soaked. A guest ran to the Starbucks around Forsyth Park and wiped down everything. But I’ve heard rain is good on your wedding day ;-)

I was in two weddings in October, and my wedding is in July!

It was 100 degrees and super humid the day of our wedding… we had planned on taking more outdoor pictures, but were worried about the groom and groomsmen passing out in their tuxes ;) There was also a pretty severe thunderstorm that night at our reception. All of our Alaskan family and friends got a kick out of it because thunderstorms, especially severe ones, are super rare in Anchorage. They were glued to the windows watching it!

Is there such thing as an ugly Mormon? LOL You guys are all beautiful!!! I may have to convert and hope it rubs off on me.

I can’t believe you and that other girl are due the same week. She looks way farther along than you! Funny how people carry so differently.

We had gorgeous weather for our wedding, but IT. WAS. HOT! We got married on the beach in the Virgin Islands. It wasn’t until like 6 in the evening but it was still crazy hot. And the mosquitoes! I was afraid we would be all sweaty and red in our photos, but my makeup chick worked miracles. :)

I don’t know how to describe my wedding dress, but you can see it here! http://29goingon29again.blogspot.com/2011/05/four-years.html

The last wedding I went to was my nephew’s last June. They got married high up on a mountain in Gatlinburg, TN. It was really pretty.

My wedding was June 26th, 2010. It was a gorgeous, sunny day in Pittsburgh! Literally not a cloud in sight and 80 degrees, does not happen that often in Pittsburgh!

Reply

the bride is beautiful and you look gorgeous too!! :) it definitely was perfect weather for a wedding. we got married in october in AZ, so it was a little on the warmer side but not bad at all once the sun went down (we got married in the evening).
also, didn’t get a chance to tell you yesterday, but great job in your half!! you amaze me. you got a time that i don’t know if i’d ever be able to get and you’re preggo girl! strong work. :)

I don’t think I’ve ever run the day after a race, but I have definitely done the race day + large social event in the same day. I just make sure to drink extra champagne to easy the wobbly legs and screaming blisters! Always exhausting but totally worth it. Glad you had a great time!

Looks like a beautiful wedding–you look great!

I got married in October, so we were taking a gamble about how the weather would be. It ended up beautiful, 70 degrees and sunny! (Totally abnormal for Michigan!) My wedding dress was strapless, with a tie up back, and a long train. I loved it!

The last wedding I was at was my cousin’s in October. Our next wedding is for some of our friends, in May.

Reply

I was married in August in California (the hot northern part, not the beautiful southern part) so it was HOT…I think the hottest day of the year or very close to it. My cake’s frosting melted on the drive over so it had to be repaired a bit after arrival ;)

The last wedding I attended was my sisters 2 years ago.

I have run the day after a race, but usually a REALLY short easy one to work out the stiffness :)

Reply

Since we were married in September the weather here could be anything – hot or snow… we were half lucky – it poured rain the day before and after, but did not rain on our wedding day, it was about 50 degrees and cloudy, a tad windy for photos but better than rain!
I had two weddings last July a week apart, and so far none this summer! Craziness. First time in 8 years that’s happened. Everyone is married and its all babies now!
I am not sure I have ever run the day after a race…
PS You girls all looked amazing!

You are looking gorgeous in the pics! Glad you had a great time…I must ask though- did you shower in the random bathroom??

You’re making me so homesick. I wish I could have been there! Miss you guys!

You really know how to make the most of a day! I can’t believe you looked that fabulous after getting ready in a random bathroom. Also, I really like the bride’s dress.

What a beautiful bride and wedding party! I love the bridesmaids’ top and skirt combo and the colors she picked out – so classy yet casual. Glad to hear you had such a great day!
I haven’t been to a wedding since this fall but have one in Maryland in May that I am super excited for. I am taking two days off of school and flying out there early. I also have an Indian wedding in June in Chicago, and let me tell you, Indian people know how to throw an amazing wedding weekend!

Reply

I love weddings too! :) You and Billy had such a long day!! Wow!
My wedding was June 25, 2011 (almost a year!) and it was a gorgeous day… just a little windy was all but the only time we went outside was before we went into the reception, Josh and I danced out in the courtyard of the church to our song with just our immediate families watching… it was a gorgeous day!! :)
My wedding dress… well, I don’t know how to describe it but you can see it here:

Hubs and I eloped :)

I got married in the month of June and it was really HOT! I melting while we took photos. The last wedding I attended was last year in May. I feel like I attend more baby showers than weddings these days since most of my friends are married.

I don’t always run the day after a race but I sometimes like to do a short shakeout run after a longer race. I feel like a shakeout run helps me recover and I feel better for my next week of training.

oooh this post has made me so excited for the wedding i’m going to this summer! i loveeeee weddings but havent been to one in about 2 years!

Reply

Haha! You never cease to amaze me – particularly your running skills and your get-ready-at-lighting-speed skills that you seemed to have honed to perfection! Can’t wait to hear about the race, and your friend is beautiful!

Reply

You and Billy look amazing for having run a race in the morning and then got ready in a bathroom! The bride looks beautiful as well, and the entire wedding looks amazing! Weddings are probably one of my favorite things ever – food, friends, and dancing – it’s all wonderful!

Beautiful pictures! I was lucky enough to have nice weather on my wedding day – April 15th. Last year, it snowed on our anniversary. The weather is always a toss up in April!
Have a great Sunday!

I am actually going to be a bridesmaid in my best friend’s wedding this September. You all look amazing in your outfits and boy is the bride’s dress drop dead gorgeous. Such great pictures!

Reply

I absolutely LOVE the bridesmaids dresses!!!! So adorable! It looks like a beautiful wedding, and you’re so right – the bride was gorgeous!

Reply

I love your bridesmaid outfits! Never thought of doing a top and skirt combo. You all looked gorgeous!!

My wedding dress was ivory lace with beads everywhere, but it was very lightweight and easy to wear all day. Our wedding was in July and we expected hot and humid weather, but we lucked out with a gorgeous sunny day with temps in the 70s (very weird for midwest summers).

We haven’t been to a wedding in a while, but have a cousin getting married next weekend in Indiana and a college friend getting married the weekend after in DISNEY WORLD!!!! Can’t wait to say hello to Mickey and friends!

Reply

First of all, good job on the race! You are amazing!

Very pretty wedding. I would never guess you were pregnant from these pictures. I think you are running that belly right off haha.

The weather on our wedding day was okay. It did end up sprinkling during our reception but it was suppose to rain all day so we got really lucky! My wedding dress was a similar fit to this one but I think her bottom is a little fuller than mine was.

I think the soonest I have ran after a race was 2 days after Ragnar last year. I was tired but it actually felt pretty good.

Reply

It ended up being cooler than we expected on our wedding day, but we still had great weather! My dress was strapless with a slight sweetheart neckline and had a band of crystals at the empire waistline and crystal buttons down the back.

I can’t remember when the last wedding I went to was exactly, but it was before Christmas. We have three weddings to attend in the next month though!

Reply

Beautiful wedding! And the food looks delicious!

Reply

I love those bridesmaid dresses … so unique and pretty!! :)

Reply

Nope! I never run the day after a race…my body worked hard and needs a chance to repair. I DO like to walk a bit the day after a race to loosen up the leg muscles that are mad at me for working them so hard.

Reply

aw i like how the bridesmaids wore tops and skirts as opposed to dresses!
the next wedding i’ll be going to is actually next weekend! which reminds me.. i need shoes!

Reply

Janae you get cuter and cuter with your pregnancy! Seriously, you are the prettiest pregnant girl I have ever seen, love it! Keep on glowing :)

Reply

I love your outfits – pencil skirts were a great call!!!!

Reply

Can’t wait to read the race recap. Weddings are the best. I was telling Peter the other day how I am so sad everyone is getting married in Summer/Fall this year and none in the Spring. I am bummed!!!

Reply

what a beautiful wedding – you were glowing! glad you had fun and got to celebrate your amazing race with CAKE!!!

Reply

The weather was beautiful on our wedding day…cloudy, but didn’t rain and the temps were nice. I don’t remember for sure the last wedding we went to, but we went to a bunch last summer. We have one in a month too.

I only ran the day after a race when I was in school and someone made me. haha. I ran a 5k yesterday and my legs are feeling it today, but I’m going to relax and do nothing instead of running. I know they are good for me, it’s just motivating myself to do it.

You look absolutely gorgeous! How in the world did you manage that in a public restroom after a race. I look like a got hit by a train after a race. Such a pretty wedding and the food looks wonderful too. Glad you had a great time.

P.s. Great job at your race and I’m looking forward to reading the recap.

I had a wedding the night off my first triathlon. I came home, slept, and then ate EVERYTHING in sight. I definitely took the next day off and usually do. Looking forward to the race recaps!

Our Wedding Day was gorgeous, although cold and windy. I really wanted to take pictures outside, but given the temps being 40 degrees with crazy winds upto 40mph, that meant no pictures. I didn’t want to freeze everyone and my veil wouldn’t stay put. My dress was white and strapless. Very simple and ruched(not sure of the spelling) to the side. We went to our good friends wedding in March. He and my husband have known each other since High School.

Do you eat Cache Valley cheese? I work for the company that makes it! I’ve never been to Salt Lake City or Utah for that matter (oops) but I’ve heard it’s pretty popular there. . .

We went to a wedding in february the day of my first ever half marathon, I missed the ceremony! We had a three hour drive to the wedding and the roads were still busy with runners so it was slow going. It’s not so common here to have a luncheon wedding but I like the idea.

Reply

What a gorgeous bride! I got married in September and the weather was perfect. My dress was kind of like a ball gown, with a beaded corset top and beaded pick-ups in the skirt. I loved it so much I had it preserved. I would love to wear it again on our 5 year anniversary but its about 2 sizes too big now.

I ran the day after my first half-marathon. It was very painful and slow! Now I usually take 2-3 days off after a race.

Reply

I love the dresses. There was a light drizzle during my wedding and we had an outside ceremony. We got married in July, so it was hot and humid. I went to my cousin’s wedding this past Friday. It was a nice small wedding. I surprised them by making their wedding cake.

Reply

YOU and Billy are a STUNNING couple! The bride is gorgeous and surrounded by some beautiful girls!

Sounds like a fast paced day and I hope you are spending plenty of time on the couch resting, relaxing and enjoying time with your hubby (and baby J)!

Aww you all look super cute, and the bride looks beautiful!

I was just at a wedding a week ago and although it RARELY rains in San Diego, it downpoured on my friends’ wedding day. I felt so bad for them! But it still managed to be a beautiful day.

What a beautiful bride!! And I bet it was nice to have pregnant company in the wedding party! :)

We were blessed with a beautiful wedding day in the Colorado mountains. It really couldn’t have been more perfect!!!

My dress was kind of old fashioned looking…lace overlay, strapless. Simple. I wore a black belt with jewels on the front.
The last wedding I went to was a coworkers also in the Colorado mountains– fall colors. So beautiful!!!!!

I don’t think I’ve ever run the day after a race besides a 5k. Aweomse job on your half!! :)

What a beautiful day for a race and a wedding?? The weather for our wedding was beautiful, but really chilly! When we were taking pictures, we had to stand as close as possible to each other to stay warm.

I can’t remember what the last wedding I went to was. There were so many last year!

you bridesmaids are BEAUTIFUL. Love the skirt/top combo and her wedding dress is simply stunning. I really like the sleeves–she’s beautiful!

We got married in Rome, Italy, and it poured down rain on our wedding day. It was absolutely amazing! We got married on a terrace overlooking the Trevi Fountain, so you could hear the water anyway. Adding the rain was SO cool! We felt like celebrities walking through the square in front of the fountain, and on the Spanish Steps getting pics. I might do a blog post on it sometime, even though it was two years ago….
