A wet run and you need to try this bread….

It is official, I have found my new favorite bread.  My MIL made us toast this morning before our run and I can’t get over how delicious this stuff is.  It is about 80 calories a slice with 3 grams of fiber and 3 grams of protein.  So good, especially when slathered with butter and strawberry jam.  The only bad thing about the bread….it is from Trader Joe’s.  Wherever we end up moving for the fall BETTER have a TJ’s.  That is actually the second thing we are looking for when it comes to where Billy goes to law school, the first being good running trails.

We set out on our run this morning and even though it looks kind of cold, it wasn’t.  It was perfect outside and the rain actually felt really good.  I was jealous of this dogs rain coat.

I did 4 miles around the lake and then ran the 3 miles (straight downhill) back home with Billy.  When we got back my MIL was doing 30 Day Shred so of course I had to do it too.  I still can’t get over how Jillian can make me so sore after just 20 minutes.

Goodness my MIL is such a good example.  Next thing she was doing was making a smoothie with broccoli, asparagus, celery, protein powder, ice and berries.  She usually adds in spinach or kale but was out of it this morning.  She offered me some but the thought of broccoli still makes me want to die a little.

We are off for a fun day of shopping, eating and movie watching.  Hope you are having an amazing Friday and see you soon.

A sneak peak into the top and most important shelf of my in-laws freezer.  Billy, I PROMISE I married you for you and not just because your family is absolutely perfect:

It’s as though they read my blog or something and know that I have lost my love for chocolate and switched over to all things caramel and vanilla.

We are going to make a stop at Trader Joe’s, tell me what I NEED to get!

What are your Friday night plans?

What is your least favorite vegetable right now?

What is the best thing in your freezer right now?

Your IL’s are the best!!
My TJ staples are:
British multi grain English muffins..a must!
Red pepper or Cilantro/japeno hummus
pizza dough
Honey wheat pretzel sticks (which I think you already get!)
honey/sesame seed covered almonds
their brand of unsweetened vanilla almond milk
hmmm..I know there is more, but I’m blanking!

They have a honey flaxseed version of that bread at our Costco! We buy 8 loaves at a time and freeze it. Even the kids love it!

Reply

KENDRA…you just saved my life. I had no idea Costco had it, can’t wait to buy it at home now!

Reply

We actually have the Multi-grain with Omega-3 version at our Costco (CO). It’s hidden in the bread section, 2 loaves for 6.99 :-)

Reply

yep, our costco in san diego has a sprouted alpine valley bread, not sure if there are more options.

Reply

Ha, sounds like pretty sweet in-laws.
I LOVE TJ’s…they make these chocolate covered almonds dusted with turbinado sugar and sea salt, they ARE SO GOOD.

Reply

I am OBSESSED with those sea salt almonds – that’s what prompts me to go to TJ’s when I’m out!

Reply

=O That SHELF.

Reply

I currently live far, far away from a TJ’s but where I used to live and where I’m soon moving to have them — thank goodness! I love to grab the chocolate covered edamame and the chocolate covered pomegranate arils. Trust me on this. I also love their frozen appetizers and prepared foods, but that would be hard to take back on the plane :)

Reply

Cookie Butter! It’s great in oatmeal, by the spoonful, or with your finger! :)

Reply

I kept staring at that shelf of ice-cream wishing it was mine. Still staring.

Reply

COME OVER and have some with me:)

Wow! That ice cream sounds AMAZING! Right now in my freezer I have ribs for a cookout this weekend – my Dad and Grandma are driving out to see us for a few days, and barbequed ribs sound SO good. Can’t wait! My plan right now for tonight is to clean my house for my company and take care of my little girl because she seems to not be feeling well. I hate it when she’s sick, but she is such a cuddle-bug when she doesn’t feel good. I love her cuddles :) No TJ’s near me, but if they have Aussie Pies (in the freezer section at Whole Foods) get them. They are so delicious!! I’ve tried the Thai flavor – it was vegan – the box of them were gone in about 2.3 seconds.

Reply

Ribs are the absolute best and that is so fun that your Dad and Gma are coming out:) Hope your little girl gets better asap!

1. I LOVE their peanut butter stuffed (salted) pretzels and also their applesauce that has chunks in it! There are rumors that one is moving to Austin, but I’m not trying to get my hopes up.

2. Honestly, I just want to sleep. I’ve been spending waay too much time at work this week. Maybe I’ll branch out and play a board game with the bf? If I’m feeling motivated…

3. I don’t think I have one of those!

4. The best thing in my freezer is tilapia fillets. Is that sad? I love those. :)

Reply

I hope that they go to Austin for you!!! I need that applesauce asap! Tilapia is incredible!

At the TJs I’ve gone to, they always try to hide it on a bottom shelf.

IF a long-awaited paycheck arrives, we’re going to see 21 Jump Street!! Jonah Hilllllll (think I’m supposed to be saying Channing Taaaaatum but who cares Jonah Hillllll).

If not, The Duellists at home. Men with swords. Win/win.

My dog is also jealous of that raincoat.

I think my comments have been going into cyberspace but one of these times it will go through :)… anyway, I 100% support your law school search criteria — who cares about the school itself? TJ’s and running trails are far more important. ;)

Reply

YAY!! Finally, comment is there! I swear it’s been happening for like two weeks now!

Reply

Friday night plans include making homemade pizza to fuel for tomorrow’s long run. Best thing in my freezer-Ben and Jerry’s Phish Food Frozen Yogurt. Hands down. (I hear that is great long run fuel too!)

Reply

They have that same bread at Costco! Or, at least at my Costco in Phoenix

Reply

You must get TJ’s cat cookies! They are amazing!!

Reply

You are so right…I am pretty sure those are the best things that TJ’s has!

Reply

We don’t have much of anything in our freezer except for some frozen veggies. Not fun at all.

Our Friday night plans are going out to Thai for dinner!

I can’t think of my least favorite vegetable.

Reply

Oh my gosh, Jillian kills me every time! I usually end up yelling at the DVD!

Reply

DH and I are going to watch Bridesmaids tonight. I feel like we are about the only 2 people on earth that haven’t seen in yet. Other than that, it will be a quiet night. I have an 18 mile long run to do tomorrow morning if it isn’t raining. If it’s raining, I’ll probably do it Sunday morning instead. I’m a wimp and can’t handle a run that long in the rain. I’d be miserable.

trader joe’s cocoa almond spread is to die for! i have no self control around it. definitely get it. and i love their sunflower butter too. aaaand their cilantro creamy dressing. oh, and their freeze dried banana slices. pretty much everything is wonderful, but those are my top faves. ;)

Trader joes – seasame cashews, uncrystallized candied ginger, lemon meyer cookies, pretzel thins (love the dark chocolate ones…), shelled edamame beans, and naan.

I lalalalaave TJs! The frozen mango are amazing! I’m going to hit up the Recreation Outlet tonight for some new hiking gear at their after hours sale. Cookie Butter!!!
We are home-bodies Friday nights, gym, supper in the livingroom and TV or a movie, same thing every Friday but I love it.
Cauliflower for sure.
Maple Walnut Frozen Yogurt :)

Reply

I love Trader Joe’s! Although I probably don’t go as much as I should..but perhaps my wallet is thanking me haha. When will you and Billy find out where you’ll be this fall?? And seriously, I could live in that freezer ;). My Friday night plans involve hanging out with some friends and just relaxing…absolutely perfect!

Reply

I did Jillian’s 30 day shred level 2 and 3 back to back today since the hubby had to go to work early and so I couldn’t go to the gym! Your run sounds awesome and so does that bread!! Why does everything so delicious have to cone from tj?? Bring me back some cookie butter and I will pay you double. Serious. I want to try that stuff so badly!!

Reply

Ahh, that is my favorite bread! Check to see if they carry it at your Costco…that is where we get it!

Reply

GUH I love that bread!

Trader Joes is the best! I hadnt been there in forever and went last night, need to go more often for sure.

Hope you are enjoying your day, sounds wonderful. Accept for this darn weather!

Reply

I love TJ’s kettle corn and sweet, salty, & nutty trail mix!

Reply

I love that bread — it is fabulously delicious. There is some delish bread at CostCo too though! You really must live by a TJs. I might die without their food! You are so awesome –pregnant, running 7 miles AND working out with Jillian! You are a superstar!

Reply

My Friday night plans is dinner at Macaroni Grill with the hubby!

I like your priorities Janae!!!! TJ’s and running trails area a MUST!

My TJ picks: EVERYTHING ;) Hahaha

Best thing in my freezer: Arctic Zero and waffles :D

Least fave veggie [hard choice since I love veggies]: asparagus

P.S. You can’t go wrong with anything from TJ’s but I’m loving their Cuban Black Beans and avocados lately :D

Reply

Well if my husband hasn’t eaten all of my ice cream while I’ve been gone this week, then my ice cream is the best thing in my freezer. ;) It’s cookie flavored with pieces of Chips Ahoy in it. Yum!! :)

Salted caramel truffle ice cream?? Yes, please!!

Reply

I love Jillian’s 30 Day Shred. I’m always sore afterwards, too.

Right now, the best thing in my freezer is a 1lb box of Gardner’s chocolate covered pretzels. My MIL mailed them to me. She is awesome.

Reply

Oooo, I love TJ’s and have none near me. But, when we go to the Twin Cities to visit my family, I always stop in. They have a yummy trail mix I think called “ABC Trail Mix” (salted cashews, raw almonds and craisins)–so yummy! I love pretty much everything there, though, and always wish I could bring home more frozen goodies. I also fell in love with their little savory thin rice crackers dipped in hummus. Mmmmmm!!!!

Reply

You have to try the Almond Vanilla Granola Cereal from TJ. it is to die for.

Reply

they sure DO know how to keep a freezer fully stocked! :)

i’ve never tried that bread but i kno anytime i walk into TJ’s it’s like a time vortex and i end up perusing the aisles forever, so i’ll need to try some soon.

Have a great rest of the night!

Reply

You need to try cookie butter and coconut thins, I think that’s what they’re called. They are freakin amazing!

Reply

Hmm… let’s see. My favorite things from Trader Joe’s are their pumpkin butter (SO good!), Dried Green Mango, British muffins, cookie butter (there’s a real hype over this stuff right now), and their chocolate covered ANYTHING. Last time I was in there I was tempted to buy eggnog almonds! They sounded and looked great but I haven’t tried them yet!

Reply

I need that in my freezer!

Quiet evening at home because we have a busy day tomororow that starts at 6:00 AM!

Reply

THOSE ICE CREAMS LOOK SO FREAKING GOOD.

Reply

Hey girl, I got some similar bread at Walmart you should check it out if you’re looking for nummy bread. The kind I buy is Orowheat healthfull (I tried this brand b/c my tummy is a bottomless pit and I hoped it would help me stay full) I buy the nutty grain kind but there’s lots of others it has 80 cals 5 grams fiber and 5 grams protein. Here’s a link if you want to see what the package looks like.

I know you’re not loving chocolate right now but some trader joes have these chocolate and toffee bit covered almonds. SO GOOD. I bought a thing of them when I was in CA for my half marathon and then I FORGOT them at my parents house. It was the hardest thing ever not to cry.

They also have this spinach artichoke dip in their freezer section…. Yummmmm!!

Reply

I live way too far from a TJ’s too! My favorite staples are two buck chuck, pizza dough, their giant can of marinara sauce and spinach/artichoke dip. Last time I was there I found a sugar/coffee/chocolate spice grinder and I’m obsessed!

Reply

Try Trader Joe’s light cream cheese. I was craving a Friday Night Comfort Food Dish for dinner. I made whole wheat penne pasta dish with sautéed spinach and a creamy light alfredo sauce topping made from the light cream cheese. Delish!!
My least favorite veggie right now is eggplant.
The best thing in my freezer right now is Pepperidge Farm Pastry Dough which I use to make chocolate croissants!

Reply

I love, love, love the brushetta. It is in the cold food section by the hummus.

Reply

I could make you a loooong list of my favorite trader joe’s items! Mango butter, goat’s milk creamy cheese, crunchy curls, dried chile mango slices, nuts/trailmixes, etc etc etc. :)

Tonight we went out with friends for dinner at Coyote Blues (one of our fave places) and I had the best salad – spinach, candied pecans, blue cheese, mango, red onion, avocado, and seared ahi tuna.

This may make you a little jealous, but the best thing in our freezer right now is fresh beef. We buy it from a local farm and it is SO SO SO good!

Reply

I love me some TJs. I just wrote a post about my first flaxseed and quinoa purchases from there. I tried out a smoothie with the flax and loved it! In addition to that I usually get the organic tomato and roasted red pepper soup, antioxidant mixed nuts, almond butter, cat cookies (they kill my sweets cravings and are basically no fat), veggie root chips (yum), and fiber whole wheat bread.

Reply

That smoothie looks intense! I love my greens but I’m not rue I could handle them like that!

Reply

Oh, we LOVE Alpine Valley bread! They sell them at our local Costco here in Houston. They have that one, a Jalapeno Cheddar, and also a Sprouted Honey Wheat Flax that has 4g of fiber and 5g of protein per slice for 80 calories. We eat the last one since the stats are so good and love the taste!

Reply

Hey,
Trader Joes is coming to Texas. That ought to put SMU right at the top of your list.

Reply

TJ’s has an awesome black bean dip (probably near where they have tortilla strips). I also just ate some dark chocolate (and tiny bit of SALT)-covered almonds today that are pretty addicting.

Reply

I’m so jealous of your in-laws freezer with that ice cream. I’ve never seen that flavour in Canada but it sounds so yummy. The best thing in my freezer is frozen blueberries haha.

Reply

Plantain Chips! They’re so good!

Reply

I have a box of organic jalapeno cheese pockets. I’ve been saving them for this weekend so I have time to think about how awesome they are as I eat them.

Reply

You NEED to get their cookie butter!

Omg so much good food!!!!
