A sad day in the Jacobs’ home.

This semester we have been able to have my BIL stay with us every other week (the other weeks he stays at Billy’s other brother’s house).  Yesterday he went back up to BYU Idaho and I am really sad about it.  He is so happy and hilarious, we will miss you Jon and your awesome fanny pack full of things that you collect.

Photo copy 2

To help us get over missing Jon we went to Costco to distract ourselves.  You thought I was kidding about promising billy a hotdog and pizza from the last post….

I have been dying to have Costco’s newest addition to their menu and I finally got to have it.  It is a sandwich with all of my favorite ingredients: PESTO, turkey, tomatoes, red onions and provolone cheese.  It was ridiculously good.

While we were there we got our necessities: grapes, cottage cheese, juice, vitamins, soap to motivate me to shower more often and mini tacos;)  Oh the days that I used to buy my weekly bag of broccoli and spinach at Costco…hopefully that comes back again soon.

Okay let’s rewind to before Costco. Billy got the Brook’s Green Silence running shoes a few weeks ago and I got jealous.  I am the first to admit that if he gets something awesome then I have to copy him.  Runningwarehouse.com was having a ridiculous sale and I got myself a pair for less than $50.  The shoes don’t have a standard tongue but they have an upper that wraps around the top of your foot making it feel snug.

I tried them out for a 7 mile run yesterday and they were heavenly.  I have no idea what my pace was because my Garmin died (I have the route distances memorized) but I know it was slow and easy.

DSC 0055

Aren’t they beautiful?

After that I had my date with Wheel of Fortune.  Not going to lie, I kind of rock at that game.  I lifted some weights while beating Billy at all the puzzles, okay we tied.

Who’s is running today?  How far?  Anyone doing weights today?

Do you have a go to distance that you really love to run?

-Lately 7 has been my favorite distance and what I prefer to run.  Since I am not following a plan it is easy to choose what I want to do.

Who lives with you?

-Now it is just B$, baby and me.

What restaurant meal or food have you been dying to try lately?

I love to run an even 10. Just seems like the perfect number and time. When I first started running it was 4, then 8, every year I seem to bump it up :)

We have 3 adorable free loaders living with us. I’ve tried to evict them but apparently the lease is 18 years long….help!

Reply

There is something awesome about running an even 10! 18 year lease….I try to convince my mom all the time that my lease should be at least 30 years.

Wheel of Fortune is the best–I have it on every evening at work.

An easy 4 miles today–tapering:-) I love 7 miles too. I have an 7 mile loop with a few hills (and no barking/chasing dogs). Love those shoes, such a pretty color!

Don’t worry, your love for broccoli will come back.

Reply

What race do you have this weekend. I am glad you have the perfect 7 mile loop!

I think around 6 miles is pretty good for me. Once I’m done with this half-marathon in a couple of weeks, I think I’m just going to stick to 6 miles and under for a while. :)

And I’ve been wanting to try every frozen yogurt place within a 20 mile radius around me … ;) But I have to take that plan slowly, so that we don’t go into debt over my fro-yo addiction!

Reply

You are going to rock your 1/2 marathon and good idea to give your body a little break. I think going into debt for froyo is perfectly acceptable.

I love watching Wheel of Fortune, but it drives Bungee insane. She thinks all of the dinging is the doorbell and just goes nuts barking.

I just live with Mike and Bungee. It’s pretty awesome.

I generally run seven miles a day. I’ve been adding on 2-5 mile short runs on top of that with the dog lately, though.

Reply

BAHAHAH Bungee really reacts to noise. Your mileage is incredible!

Reply

Do NOT even say anything about running slow. I bet your ‘slow’ run dominates my normal run hahah. LOVE the face of the guy on Wheel of Fortune. I’m so sad that I missed it last night (due to running, so I’m sure you can forgive me!), but I did catch the final category of Jeopardy, which I never get. The day that I can solve a final puzzle on Jeopardy, the day you’ll never stop hearing about it.

AHHHH, I need a trip to Costco ASAP…I miss that place (closest one to me is 45mins away…not fair!)

Reply

YEAH RIGHT!! I will forgive you only because you were running. I never get the Jeopardy final category either. I think that 45 minutes is worth it to get to a costco.

Reply

I was actually thinking about my favorite distance to run recently! Right now, I am loving the 5 km…short, yet sweet! It’s enough to always have enough time to squeeze in and if I run fast enough, I feel like I’ve had a challenging workout! My workout of the day was an upper body weight lifting session and my arms definitely felt like jelly by the end of it – love that feeling!

Reply

5 km is awesome, I love it and it doesn’t take forever ya know?!? Jelly arms is awesome:) Great job!

Reply

My favorite distance is 7-8 miles.

btw, I just tried cottage cheese with grapes for the first time and LOVED it. Thought you’d appreciate that : )

Reply

Your comment made me tear up a little…that is so exciting, I am glad you LOVED it. Let me know if you find any other delicious cottage cheese combos!

Reply

I tried cottage cheese + banana + cinnamon + shredded coconut. It was delicious.

Reply

I love the 10 mile distance – it doesn’t feel too easy or too hard. I’m too lazy to wake up and run that during the week though so I stick with 5-6. I did get in a good run today – even though I didn’t want to roll out of bed. It’s always worth it!

Reply

GREAT JOB on your run! Seriously, rolling out of bed is tough stuff…we deserve an award every time that we do it.

What does B$ get to be called when he’s the daddy? B-less$?

Reply

HAHAHA good point. Maybe B-we have so many student loans it hurts.

Reply

I havent watched Wheel of Fortune in so long! I love to play the game on my ipod though!
I’m taking a Butts and Guts class at my gym today and we use some free weights.
I live with ny hubby and our two kids!

Reply

I am totally going to download that game wahoo. I want to come to that class with you!

Reply

I always think of you when I go to Costco, because like you I love the free lunch…I mean samples that they provide ;) When I went to Costco this past weekend, it was early on a Saturday just after they had opened and there were NO SAMPLES!! I will never make the mistake to go early in the morning again. And to answer one of your questions, I did BodyPump this morning, and plan on running a short 3 mile stint this afternoon :)

Reply

HAHAHA they really have enough samples for a full lunch. Okay, no samples…I would have sat in the food court and waited for them to bring it out. GREAT workoutS today!

Reply

Those shoes look awesome! I especially like the color hehe :) I’m hoping to run as long as possible today! I injured my knee recently so lately I haven’t been able to really plan how long I want to run for, which has been kind of nice but it sucks when I’m 2.5 miles in and my knee decides it wants to hurt :( I don’t really do weight lifting but I really should…my favorite distance is probably anything over 6 miles at a nice easy pace :)

Reply

Ahh, I love Costo! My favorite thing to get there is the massive container of chocolate covered almonds. They are so addicting!

I like running a 5k – short and sweet but I’d like to have my go-to distance be 5 or 7 miles. (For some reason I like odd numbers). I bet you’re still super fast!

Reply

Rest day today! I have to work form 8:30am-9pm so have no time and have given up before work workouts!
6 miles is my favorite distance.
Just me, my hubby and crazy cat live at my house. I am not the roommate type of person…
On Sunday we went to a place in town and I had been dying the try their margarita flatbread pie aka pizza, it was good but not as good as I had hoped/

Reply

I just have a 5 mile run on the schedule today. I think my favorite distance to run is about 10 miles. It’s far enough to feel like I got a really good workout, but not so far that it takes up hours. I was craving a burger and fries from Slater’s 50/50 after my long run last weekend. I finally talked DH and the kids into going there with me Sunday night for dinner. Living with us is just me, DH and our 2 girls (7 and almost 5). My dad lived with us for about 6 months last year and that was sure an experience!

Reply

Maybe running. Trying to clear up my IT Band issues for. I have liked running 4 lately.

i’m glad to know those new hot sandwiches at costco are good! we eat lunch at costco almost every sunday after church because it’s cheap and that’s when we pick up all our groceries. i usually get pizza or the caesar salad, but i’m glad to know i have another yummy option! :)

Today = group speedwork day at the track! I’m super excited to run with my running group again. Not so much about the speedwork.

At our house it’s me, my BF and our dog aka the fur child :)

My standard weekday distance is 5 miles, though my favourite is 12-13 mile long easy weekend runs. The best!

Reply

thats funny, the distance i am loving right now is 7 too – did 7 today before work, felt great for once!! i think my calf problems are finally somewhat over. wahoo. 7 is a good distance cause its long enough to be a decent run but short enough to be done in an hr or less!

Reply

I normally try to do 2 or 3 at least a few days a week… peanuts compared to most people that read your blog I’m sure, haha!

Reply

I’m liking 5 and 7 milers, but my ten miler this past weekend was awesome! So I don’t know! haha
I really want some sushi! I haven’t had it for almost a month and I’m craving it!
I love your – “Now it is just B$, baby and me.” Too cute!!!

Reply

Hopefully I’m doing an HIIT run today, but I can tell my knees are really bothering me so we’ll see how that goes. I looked up my mileage on daily mile and I’ve run 396 miles in theses shoes, and walked a lot more… it’s time for some new ones!

Reply

i ran for the first time in two weeks yesterday and it was wonderful. trying to ease myself back into it since the ankle is still feeling a little off, but we’ll see. no running today, stairclimber and elliptical :)

my favorite go-to distance is 7 miles too! Its pretty easy but still a decent workout!

me and kevin live together, along with two cats and a dog. and my sister who is an honorary roomie on the weekends.

i want mexican food from this awesome place by us called jose tejas…umm amazing, but you always have to wait forever to get a table!

In our home it’s just me, my bf, and our little frenchie Sophie. I’m a finalist for adopting another french bulldog so we may have another fur baby soon!!! :-)

Reply

What site do you adopt from? I have a pug and want to adopt a little frenchie? I think they would make a good team.
Thanks for any advice!

Reply

French Bulldog Rescue Network :-) I’ve been trying to adopt for years and finally they may have picked me!! Sophie’s best friend is a pug!

Reply

See!!! I knew it would be perfect! Thank you! Thats the site I have been looking at but there are none really near me (in Florida) and I don’t want to try to make them ship a baby to me. Good Luck!

Reply

I won’t be running today, Hubby has a 7th grade bball game and my kiddos have their 1st day of swim lessons…super exciting! I’d love to run EVERY day, but unless I want to run in the pitch dark morning or night, I’m out of luck!
I have a fab 6.72 mile route I’m loving lately. I always wonder if the people that live along that way think I’m a nut!
Love the new kicks!
I live with Hubby and 2 Kiddos!

I meant to do weights this morning … but when I woke up, I didn’t want to leave my apartment to go to the gym/put on acceptable clothing, so I found a yoga video online and did it in my PJs.

I live by myself. And I looooove it :)

Reply

Wow, what a deal on those shoes!! and yes, they are definitely beautiful.. love the color!

Today is an HIIT day. My favorite distances is 6 miles. For the longest time, I wanted to try Cafe Rio and I finally did this past weekend. It was delicious. The only peeps living with me are my awesome husband, two adorable 18 month olds and my crazy dog.

Reply

I LOVE that fanny pack. LOVE.

Reply

I’m a sucker for costco pizza and my son loves the hot dogs, it’s the cheapest lunch around :) Pretty sure tomorrow we’re going to costco for cheese, just so i have an excuse for lunch there.

Currently at the house it’s me, husband, and 3 little monkeys that call us mom and dad.

I haven’t hit the pavement in such a long time, but I have been itching to for the last two weeks! :)

Reply

No one currently lives w/ me and my hubby (except our 2 dogs and cat!). We have had exchange students live w/ us in the past—they attended the school where I am employeed. The one last year was a NIGHTMARE. I am going to write a best-selling book about it one day–mark my word!
I ran 5 miles in the POURING rain this morning. I had planned to do 10, but 2.5 miles in the “sprinkle” turned into blinding rain. I was drenched and my bootcampers thought I was crazy when I returned to the gym before class. I am teaching 2 bodypumps this pm so I’ll get my weights in today!
I have a HUGE adventure race this wkend. I MUST MUST MUST place and PR! Bragging rights and serious $$ is on the line! yikes!

Reply

I did weights this morning too. I looked just like you, in front of the tv :)

I can’t get over the hot dog in the pizza thing. yucky….

I would have to say my go to is 8. I would like to always do 8 but find if I don’t switch it up especially with doing long runs on the weekend my body gets tired.

It is just me, my hubs Scott and iVan the iMan Frenchi :))

Reply

I also having me dying to try that new Costco sandwich – now that I have your recommendation I will have to get to it sooner rather than later! I love running 6 miles, that’s my favorite distance.

Reply

I’m doing weights tonight at my SHRED class! We are going to burn it up!!!

At our house, it’s just Daniel, me, two dogs, and a fat cat! :)

Reply

COSTCO is a great distraction, for sure!!! :)

Reply

I love me some game show action. I rock at teen and celebrity jeopardy …you know, when they dumb it down ;) Also, Cash Cab. I need to get some new running shoes. I will have to check out that site. I have never heard of it before & I need a good deal. Any other sites I should check?

I just went to Costco yesterday morning and one of my purchases was spinach – I have now had it for my last three meals in a row.

I did body pump this morning at the gym and I am already sore. I don’t even want to know what tomorrow is going to feel like. And I have been craving pita pit for a while now. Wonder why ;)

Reply

I’m feeling a long walk (darn ITBS) and leg strength workout today. :)

Reply

omg Janae those Artisan breads at Costco are my favorite! they make the best sandwiches!! Even better, slice in half, spray with some PAM, sprinkle some parmesan and garlic and toast it and then DUNK in marinara or with pasta!

I’ve been trying to do more arms… that’s usually what I skip out on lol. The TIU girls new Beach Babe DVD has a great Summer Arms routine only like 15min with 3lb weights and I still want to die!

Its bittersweet when house guests go. I love the activity, excitement, and company, but I do treasure my quiet spaces, my undivided hubby time, and ability to act on my quirks without inconviencing someone else. (sometimes a 4:30am TM run is needed)

Favorite run = 8 miles.

I’ve never had flatbread from Subway, and I have been wanting to try it.

Reply

I really like my 10 mile days. I find myself looking forward to every Tues and Thurs. I have really been craving a Pazookie from BJ’s. I was there on Sun for dinner but I was too full for dessert.

Reply

I ran 7 miles this morning.

I love long, double digit runs. But since I am very pregnant, 10 miles at one time is my max! during the week I get in 2-3 7-mile runs.

My house is me, the husband, my son and baby due in less than 8 weeks.

I haven’t really had an intense craving for anything specific.

Reply

Oh the New Costco Addition is my new favorite! I have to go at least once a week to indulge in that Turkey Sandwich goodness!! We must go together sometime!!

No running for me at 33 weeks! I have this issue called hydronyphrosis… It keeps me to just walking! :)

My Husband, Me my daughter and baby in tummy love with me!!

I had been dying to try the shrimp taco at cafe rio.. Finally did and it was amazing! Mmm! Have a great day!

Reply

No run today but def did weights in bootcamp! Killer workout. No favorite distance because anything is good to me haha. I only did 3 on Friday because my dog was getting overheated. I gave him all my water :)

Reply

Funny, I remember when my BIL left I was so happy to have the house back…you know, walk around without a bra. :) He was easy to live with too and I actually did miss his company.

My ‘go to’ distance is 4.1 miles, I’m loving the turkey pesto wrap from Pita Jungle, I’ve had one every week for the last 3 weeks. Do they have Pita Jungle’s in Utah (I don’t think so but who knows)? If not, try it when your in AZ next time. Currently we have a new house guest…he’s the coolest ever so definitely check him out today on my blog. I think you’re gonna love him. :)

Have a fab day!

I LOVE Wheel of Fortune and always wish I was a contestant because I know I would totally win.

Not running right now, still resting my ankle (tendinitis). I am totally itching to run though. It’s been too long! I have to buy a bigger pair of running shoes to accommodate all of my “gear” (inserts, ankle brace, etc). I am hoping to be back on the running circuit very soon!!

And mmm, Costco for dinner is looking mighty good right now…

Hi!

I wanted to tell you that I LOVE your blog!!! I have been reading it for the last few months. Your blog was one of the reasons that I decided to start my own. http://crazymamaofboys.blogspot.com/ . I love your silly/ goofy personality and that you dont let being pregnant stop you from being so active!! I am kinda new to the running scene. I am hoping to have another baby in the next few years and you are a HUGE inspiration to me as far as getting into really good shape now and being able to stay so active and running while pregnant!

Reply

HEY SARA!! Thank you so much for your comment, you are the sweetest. I tried to leave a comment on your blog but I don’t think it worked:( Anyways, you are doing a great job and don’t stress over the silly scale!

Reply

I’m liking those shoes! I may have to add a new member to the shoe clan!

I ran a short run this morning pushing my kids in the double stroller. Usually an easy run with the stroller is never easy but today it was awesome. My pace was in the sub 8 at times! That never happens!

Reply

DANG ANGELA!!! You are incredible…sub 8 while pushing a DOUBLE stroller, way to go!

Reply

I am SO good at Wheel of Fortune too!! I have applied multiple times and they NEVER call me! What the heck!? i’ve heard GREAT things about the green silence, and obviously I am a Brooks fan! :)

Reply

-3 or 4 miles is my favorite distance, but I’m training for a race right now so my choices are a little limited
-today I’m planning on doing upper body weights, core work, and possibly a yoga video! all while catching up the ellen show episodes piled up in my dvr : )

Reply

I usually like to run anywhere from 7 to 10 miles… tackled 8 bright and early this morning before work. I had a couple long runs this past week and weekend of 12 & 14, generally my daily miles are based on how I’m feeling that day, no planned distance!

Pretty sure I watched that exact episode of Wheel of Fortune last night! Love that show! I always compete my boyfriend & win of course! :)

I would love to go to a Costco… never been! We don’t have any close by here in NC that I know of :(

Reply

I love to do a “fast” 7 to 8 miles. It doesn’t require any GU or much electrolytes and I’m usually done in a bit over an hour.
I’ll probably do a short run and then some upper body weights today. :)

Reply

I wore my green silences today too! I did a track workout thinking that having less on my feet would make me extra speedy–not the case. I’m just slow and have accepted that :-) but they did make my stair workout super colourful and fun–I have the Ronald McDonald looking ones. <3

Don't reall have a a favourite distance… Just run, get lost in the woods for a couple hours is probably my fav.

I live with a couple girls, my roomies!

Reply

No running today (no running for 2 weeks actually. ugh) but I definitely should do some weights ASAP. My arms are pretty weak, its actually quite embarrassing for me.

I live with my boyfriend Karl and myself! We are hoping to add a dog soon :)

Reply

Can I just say that I MISS JON TOO!! I was all gloomy last night that Jon was gone… it was weird without him to hang out with and do our dishes for us.

Reply

It’s always sad to see a good gust go..
It’s also nice when things go back to me, my husband and the baby in our little apartment! :)

I’m considering of buying the shoes.. always looking for sales to buy running shoes!!

Reply

Your Green Silences are beautiful! I love the color! I have green/black ones and I love how they feel, especially for shorter runs… but they are not as pretty as yours! :>

Reply

I always do 6 or 7 miles depending on how much time I have in the morning. I don’t know why, but anything less than that doesn’t really count

Reply

Just an FYI, but you really should avoid lunch meat while pregnant due to listeria. I love your blog!

Reply

Okay, I have to know… Does your BIL wear that fanny pack like all the time? Or is it a field trip type of fanny pack?…

Reply

I just can’t stop laughing at that pic of your BIL. Please frame it.
