How I save money:

Sometimes you just have to make huge sacrifices in your life.

For example: Instead of going to Dairy Queen 4 nights a week like I really want, I only go 2 nights a week and on the other nights I make my own Blizzard at home.

PS you would think that 1 gallon of ice cream would last for a while but be prepared, it does not.

Today workout was a nice and easy hour on the elliptical. I was able to read, sweat, listen to my new favorite pandora station and plan out my day all at once. I just started using Pandora because I was getting really sick of my music.

Yesterday I had a random craving to listen to Smashing Pumpkins and I am loving that ‘station.’ One of my brothers was a huge Smashing Pumpkin fan and I can’t help but think about all of our memories together when I was in elementary and he was in high school. He took me to Dairy Queen all the time, he always gave me gum, I would ride my bike while he ran training for cross-country meets and he taught me how to drive stick shift at the age of 9, I felt so cool. How’s that for a tangent?

It was Teacher Appreciation day at school today. The students loved that I reminded them of this every 12 minutes.

The faculty lounge was fully stocked with cookies and soda and a parent brought Indian food and cake for us to eat at lunch. It was incredible. I am telling you, they may not pay a lot but there are a lot of perks that come with being a teacher.

Guess where I am going to be in 3 hours?!? It starts with an H and ends with an unger Games.

I WANT TO GO SEE IT TONIGHT! It looks SO good!!
And I’m way jealous of the Indian food. It’s so delicious and I actually had paneer for lunch today!

Indian food used to be my favourite (until I discovered how awesome mexican is). I like chicken tikka marsala with rice and raita.

I ran today but maybe elyptical tomorrow. I usually read mags or watch e news etc.

No idea how to ‘drive’ stick but at I have now mastered driving on the right hand side! :)

I LOVE indian food!! I can’t think of a favorite dish, but we have a local restaurant, and I’ve only ever gotten takeout indian. I’m afraid it won’t be as amazing to me if I go sit and eat it. I learned how to drive on a stick shift truck. I actually really enjoy driving stick shift – but my car now is not. Have fun at the movies!!

Love Indian food! My best friend is Indian and she has made me some incredible food over the years! My favorites are the dosas, channa masala, any kind of dahl, and samosa. YUM!

I don’t know how to drive a stick, but a friend tried to teach me once and I as just starting to get the hang of it. I hear it makes driving so much more fun and that you feel so much more in tune with the car!

AHhhh lucky!!!! I hope to see it tomorrow or Saturday. HAVE fun!

My favorite stations are “Glee” “Lady Gaga” “Disney” “Britney Spears” for workouts and “MoTab”<–for Sundays.

That food looks tasty–Indian is good stuff!

Do you ever use Pandora? What is your favorite ‘station’?
Yup! The Justice Station or the “Miike Snow” station are my faves right now.

Do you like Indian food? What is your favorite dish? Do you have a local Indian food restaurant that you love? yes. We have tons of Indian restaurants in the Bay Area, as there is a high population of Indian people out here. I dont have one in partiular that I prefer though.

Do you know how to drive a stick shift car?
Yep My first car was a stick

Does anyone else read while they are on the elliptical? Who had an elliptical workout today?
I used to send emails on my cell phone on the elliptical so I wasnt using the hand rails. sot hat was the extent of my reading.

I am so excited to see it too!! But sadly I think I am going to have to wait until (the horror!) next weekend. I know, I know…
Happy TA Day!!!

In Atlantic Canada we had the most PERFECT weather – my car read 28C on the way home!! I went home from work at lunchtime and went for a 5 mile run! This evening my hunny & I had beer on the patio waiting for supper to cook (usually this time of year we’re buried under 7,000 feet of snow). Perfection!

We cook a fair bit of ‘Indian food’ (I use quotes because I don’t know if Patak’s sauces count as legit Indian food, but they sure are good!) We eat a lot of Butter Chicken, Mango Curry and Tikka Masala. YUM!

I am taking my daughter to the midnight premiere also! Then she is going back at 715pm Friday to see it again with all her friends. She made t-shirts and everything. Have Fun!!

I’m digging the Bubblegum Oldies station on Pandora right now!!

Sugar-pie honeybunch…. dancing in my chair/cubicle. Good times.

Jealous about the Hunger Games I seriously can’t wait til Sunday!!!

Reply

Ugh, I have to wait till Monday to see Hunger Games. Though I did wear my hair in a side braid today in honor of Katniss. Have a great time, pack lots of snacks!

Reply

I’ll be at the Hunger Games at midnight (central time) tonight!!! Can’t wait!

I fell in love with the 90’s Pandora station! So many songs that I had long forgotten … but actually LOVE!!

That is a nice spread for teacher appreciation day! Last year, we got a few boxes of KCups in the teachers lounge. People definitely just pocketed a bunch because they were gone rather quickly! I wonder what sly gift they have up their sleeve this year…

Jealous you are going to see Hunger Games tonight.. BUT.. I know I wouldn’t make it tomorrow. It is over 2 hours. And my bedtime is roughly 5 hours before the movie gets out.. I’ve got tickets for Sunday though!

Reply

Ahhh so excited. I didn’t think I could stay up that late so we are going in 24 hours and I’m so ready.

I love making homemade blizzards! It takes me right back to my Friendly’s days of making Friend-zies–Friendly’s not-as-good-as-a-blizzard version of the blizzard.
I own a stick and I LOVE it! I don’t think I can go back!
And the only cardio equipment I can read on is the bike or the rotating stairs. The elliptical is too bouncy for me!

Reply

Definitely want a thumbs up or down review on The Hunger Games!!

Ahhhh I’m so jealous that you’re going to see the Hunger Games!!!! I decided it would be insane to try and go in downtown chicago, plus my sister in law wants to see it and she can’t go with work tomorrow and then being out of town! I’ll have to wait!

Reply

I can’t wait to see that movie this weekend! I’m going tomorrow to buy tickets for me and my sister to go to Saturday night’s 9:50 showing. I’m hoping that’s late enough that it’ll be past all the kids’ curfews and there won’t be any obnoxious tweens in there. haha Wishful thinking…

Hunger Games!!!!!

Love Pandora for random songs! Right now I really like the 80’s station.

Indian food is one of my favorites! Anything with tofu, veggies and curry. Yum! And naan! Lots of naan.

My second car was a stick. Learned to drive it very quickly.

Reply

And I’m super jealous you are going to see Hunger Games tonight! I will see it sometime this weekend for sure.

I love, love, love Indian food. This could possibly be related to the fact that I have a boyfriend who was born and raised in India… my favorite dishes to get at a restaurant are dosas (south Indian “crepes” filled with potatoes and paneer) or malai kofta (vegetable and paneer dumplings in a creamy sauce). But when Rahul makes the stuff at home for me, I like his chicken biryani and aloo chaat. I can see you liking Indian food, especially with all the potatoes!!

Reply

Am I the only crazy person who doesn’t like Indian food?? It’s too spicy for me, I think :(

Also, contrary to people thinking I’m the type of person who only listens to bubble-gum pop, my favorite Pandora station is Red. I love loud angry music. (Actually, I love all music, but you forced me to choose!)

Reply

Ought Smashing Pumpkins brings me back to high school. I loved them. Ha!
We religiously listen to Pandora. What station do you listen to? Right now I’ve been tuning into Lady Gags for workouts but at home it’s on Frances England, children’s, for my daughter, a great and calming sound that we both LOVE!!
And Indian food, yes please!! A good friend of mine is married to a man from India, her MIL is visiting them and cooks homemade Indian food every night. Their house smells SO yummy!

Hello, butter chicken! To. Die. For. And naaaaaaaaan bread!

Have fun at Hunger Games tonight :) I’ve got tix for Saturday!

Reply

I’ve never listened to Pandora myself, but I have friends who play it all the time… so I’m not much help at discovering new stations, sorry!

My mom refused to teach me how to drive unless it was on a stick shift. So that’s how I learned!! It has come in VERY handy, even though all my cars have been automatics. I have friends and family who drive stick shifts, so it’s definitely been a life-saver knowing how to drive their cars!!!

Reply

Oh I’m so jealous! I can’t wait to see Hunger Games but I gotta wait til my sister can go with me…which means 2 weeks arghh!!!
I keep seeing previews and it looks amazing!

Reply

So jealous that you are going to see The Hunger Games tonight! Have fun! I loved the book.

I am a little embarrassed to admit that I don’t know how to drive a stick shift car. My husband tried to teach me when we were dating, but we never got past the parking lot.

Reply

I don’t know how to drive a stick shift, but I’ve always wanted to learn! My first boyfriend drove one, but I broke up with him before he could teach me how to drive his car. Darn.

Reply

I never tried Indian food until I was about 18 and now I absolutely love it! So jealous you’ll be seeing Hunger Games at midnight. I didn’t think I could make it that late so I’ll be seeing it tomorrow afternoon! :)

Reply

1. Pandora= JOURNEY music (80s for you young people)

2. Going to see The Hunger Games tomorrow!

3. Learned to drive on a stick shift and I can still do it- I think it is FUN.

4. Love the elliptical- doing it tomorrow- one hour- date with elliptial- Journey Music!

Reply

I’m so excited for you to go see Hunger Games!!! I have to wait until next weekend to go see it. I promised my mom that I would go with her. Waiting is killing me! I read all three books in less than a week. Loved them :)

Reply

Pandora- I switch it up between Dance Cardio, Club/Dance (both of these are preset stations) and the Lady Gaga channel and also the Old School Hip Hop station. But I also just started listening to the Brandy channel for a lot of old 90s R&B!

Haven’t read the Hunger Games and I don’t like Indian food :(

Elliptical earlier this week because I’m fighting an IT band injury!

Reply

Jealous of the Hunger Games fun yall are having! Maybe you have a little Katniss in the oven! ;-)

Reply

Smashing Pumpkins brings back memories for me, too, but mine are more college memories (I’m old). Pandora is great for runs!

Reply

I bet you make an awesome-er blizzard than Dairy Queen! I love huge chunks of goodies in my blizzards! I love the 90’s pop station on pandora for a little old school-ness (in my book) and the Disney station in the morning when I’m getting ready for work…not like Hannah Montana-new-disney or whatever but like songs from Beauty and the Beast and Lion King!

Reply

I love all the Broadway stations on Pandora. Huge musical theater nerd and I love the variety on them!

Reply

We just left the theater and laughed at all the teens in line around the building waiting for Hunger Games. :) At least you look like a teen, they’ll never know you’re a twenty something mom. :) I love the idea of making your own Blizzards to save money. I’d do it too, but I’d probably eat one for every meal until the bucket of ice cream was gone! I just posted another montly teacher gift (I do them for all the teachers). Too bad you’re not one of those teachers. Have fun at your movie. – Jessica

Dang, you haven’t been getting my comments. I had the website entered funky. Hope you enjoy your movie. Just left the theater laughing at all the teens in line, wrapped around the building. Good thing you look like a teen, you’ll blend right in. :) Love the Blizzard idea, I’d never have the self control to eat my fruits and veggies, until the entire bucket was gone. I just posted my montly teacher gifts (I have to make them for all the teachers every month), too bad you don’t teach at my kids school. When are you coming to AZ? and what city?? :) I just left Utah, I’ll have to catch you in the summer, I’ll bet there an entire month…most likely. – Jessica

I love Pandora, although I haven’t listened to it in a long time. I’m so excited to see Hunger Games tomorrow. My husband and I are going to switch off… no babysitter. My first car was a stick shift.

Reply

I use spotify instead of Pandora… My husband and I share an account and I love being able to set my own playlists.

No Indian food for me… I dont like my foods to touch so I dont eat many one dish meals.

Cant drive a stick very well but well enough that I could ICE.

Have you joined http://www.blizzardfanclub.com/ they send you coupons…. not that I’ve ever used any ;)

My car is a stick. I’m going to miss her when I go to Colorado for a few months =( I have a very unhealthy attachment to my car. I bawled when I hit a deer and didn’t think my car would survive, and the thought of not driving it for 3 months, not seeing it for three months, makes me abnormally sad. But I’ll be bringing my running buddy with me, so… I guess it’s an alright trade-off.

And I’m SUPER jealous that you’re going to see the Hunger Games!

I mainly listen to the country stations on Pandora, though I don’t use Pandora too much since I have to use my data for it.

If I read on the elliptical then I have to go waaay slow and don’t really get a descent workout at all. I don’t have the coordination.

And I think I like Indian food, but I’m not really sure.

Reply

I’m going for Hunger Games tonight- I’ve never read the book and have no expectations! As an Indian, I don’t love Indian food at all…not so good when the rest of my household eats it regularly!

Reply

I looove Indian food. Tikki Masala is my fave dish and my favorite restaurant is Bombay House.

How was the movie? I am so jealous!

Elliptical and ripped tomorrow morning :)

Both cars were stick shift until recently when we bought a new car. I have to admit it is easier to eat maverick fro yo and talk on the phone when I donwhave to manually change the gears. Lol.

Reply

When I was going to a globo gym I used to use the elliptical to catch up on my gossip/health/running magazines. I can also read while running on the treadmill – but I have a higher chance or falling so I try not to do that very often.

Reply

I loooooove Pandora, that is, when I can connect to it at the gym. We listen to it all the time at home. My top stations are Adele, Katy Perry (for workouts), Great Big Sea, and the new Athleta station they just set up. I also just found out about “Rock My Run,” which is this site that makes mixes for running (they even tell you the BPM so you can pick one that fits the cadence you’re aiming for).
I’m DYING to see Hunger Games (how bad a pun is that???), but I promised my husband I would wait until I’m done traveling this weekend and that I wouldn’t go see it without him.
Also, I drive a stick shift and love it. I specifically got this year and model (’08 Audi wagon) of car so that I could have a stick shift. It makes me happy every. single. day. =)

Enjoy the heck out of Hunger Games! I am so totally jealous that you’r going, but I’ll be living vicariously through my friends and blog friends who are going, so eat some popcorn for me!

I LOVE Indian food! My favorite restaurant closed, though, so I need to find a new one.

I’m totally seeing Hunger Games this weekend, but not til Saturday :(.

Have a great weekend Janae!

I am not a fan of indian food, at least the dishes I’ve tried. I can’t handle the smell of the curry. Which is weird, because I love thai curry. Hm.

I want to see Hunger Games this weekend, but we’re super booked, so it’ll have to wait :(

I love Pandora, my favorite stations (i’m a nerd) are the “Push It” station, and my “Paula Abdul” station! I’m old school.

Reply

I use Pandora all the time! It’s great on your phone because you can listen to it anywhere! I also use it at the gym!
I love Indian food too! Super good :)
I read when I’m on the elliptical! I’m reading the Hunger Games on my friend’s kindle and it’s the best for elliptical reading!

Reply

I’ve been loving Pandora! Most frequently I’m tuned into “today’s hits” or the “TSwift” station… I’m thinking an hour elliptical workout today and def planning to bring reading material- my magazine pile is starting to gather dust :P

Reply

I used to use Pandora but now I do Spotify. It’s a good way to listen to the rest of the album that an artist has besides the singles. You search by the artist and drag-and-drop the songs into your playlist. I learned to love OK Go and Florence and the Machine, to name only two.

I have only had Indian food a couple times and really enjoyed tikka masala. LOVE Samosas! Stuffed pastries full of vegetables?! I’m in! And basmati rice is the best next to risotto in my book.

I had to drive my husband’s Jeep this week when my car got a flat. I love that I know how to drive stick shift, but I hate driving it in that car. I am constantly on the clutch even though I know I probably don’t need to be even though I’m slowing down. I am just so afraid of stalling out!

Reply

omg please send me some of that Indian Food!!!!

I love the Smashing Pumpkins Pandora station. So good.

Happy teacher appreciation day!!

I love chicken tikka or a good briyani!

i cant read while working out, too hard to focus on the tiny print! I love looking through magazines tho.

Reply

the strokes pandora station is my fave! followed by jack Johnson.

I always read on the elliptical…either us weekly (my usual) or a health mag. instill sweat like a maniac so whoever says you can’t read and work out hard…wrong!
