A Date at the Track

I absolutely positively cannot and will not turn down the B$ when he invites me on a track date.  It is the perfect situation because I feel like we are still running together even though we only run together during his recovery 800s.  I did impress myself with 6 miles with an average pace of 8:18, I felt comfortable and those miles were a full 16 seconds faster per mile than what I have been doing on the treadmill.  Gotta love the sports bra sweat line.

Billy’s workout:

Screen Shot 2012 03 21 at 8 15 23 PM

He is shooting for a 1:25 for our next half on April 21st. He’s got it.

————————————-

After our workout I did really cool things like polish the wood in our house. Sometimes I get in a cleaning mode and it is actually really fun.  I also got to talk to my sister for 49 minutes, on the days that we don’t see each other we ALWAYS talk on the phone for extended amounts of time.

While Billy was finishing up a 15 page paper (thank goodness I am not in school anymore) I picked up some Costa Vida in an extra attractive outfit.

We used up our last free meal coupons and it was beyond delicious…..we both got pork salads.

Great effort with the faster outdoor run. I find it’s always somehow easier in the fresh air. And wow, Billy’s FAAAAST!! He’s going to nail that half!
So jealous of your salads – they always look amazing. We don’t have anywhere that makes them like that in England, do you think they do international orders to go?!

Reply

Thanks Laurie and you are so right about the fresh hair helping. I WILL SEND YOU some delicious salads:)

Reply

Haha I talk to my sister ALOT on Thursday we actually work together but I still call her on the way.. Weird??
Hmm my hardest class was college chemistry! Yuck, it was horrible AND it was on a Saturday :(
I am wearing a white and black shirt right now. Yay for work clothes.

Reply

Not weird at all…that is awesome. I am jealous you get to work together on Thursdays. Chemistry on a Saturday…ouch!

Reply

Gotta love the cleaning modes–too bad it doesn’t hit me more often!
Chemistry had to be the hardest class I ever took, I just don’t understand it.

Awesome job on the run! You look fabulous!
Billy is going to rock that half marathon…he certainly is speedy. I love how he is so technical about it. I have a feeling chemistry wasn’t a problem for him in school.

Reply

Chemistry makes ZERO sense to me. Thanks so much Becky and you are so right….he is a little engineer about everything, even his running!

Reply

Yesterday as a matter of fact. I scrubbed all the floors, cleaned out our laundry room, cleaned out the hall closet. Scrubbed the bathroom. I was on a mission.
My shirt color is black. Still in my pj’s. Getting the kids ready for school.

Reply

Dang….wanna come to our house today?

Reply

Hardest class….Chemistry….ughhhh!!!!

PS….my post about running gear that you helped me with is up today! :) :) THANKS SO MUCH!!!! have a great day!

Reply

OH FUN…I can’t wait to check it out. Have an amazing day Kaitlyn!

Reply

I get in random cleaning modes, but then what happens is I start a project when I’m motivated and then quickly lose interest. Yesterday I decided my shelf of clothes needed to be reorganized, so I dumped all of my clothes on the floor, started folded things, and then got bored. There’s now a mountain of clothes just sitting there in the middle of my apartment.

Reply

BAHAHAHA I totally imagined your room with a mountain of clothes:) I get bored easily too!

Reply

Sometimes when I get into cleaning modes, my hubby feels he has to supervise because I just want to throw everything out.. ok not EVERYTHING but all the things we don’t normally use.
I talk to my sister A LOT on the phone and we also text a lot.

You look so good! That backdrop is just beautiful.. the mountains look so pretty!!

Reply

Thanks Sabrina! HA…teach me how to throw things away!

Reply

Yay I’m wearing green too!!! With a white cardigan (I look like a old librarian… Not that old librarians are bad…). I get into crazy cleaning modes too, out of nowhere. I’ll see a speck on the wall and all of a sudden its three hours later and our apartment is spotless. Usually I just ignore the speck though ;)

Reply

I’d say the person I talk to most on the phone is my boyfriend. Most times I just text people unless I’m in the car then I call… Or if I’m annoyed with texting I call instead.

My least favorite class in school was anything that had I do with science. I think my 6th grade science teacher ruined the subject for me.

I am currently wearing a dress from the maternity department at target. No I am not pregnant! I just really liked the dress! Honestly, this isn’t the first maternity piece of clothing I own… It just fits me well and allows me to eat allot all day and hides the food baby! Haha. Please tell me someone else does this too?!

Reply

Snap- I’m wearing green too…probably should have worn this last Saturday instead ;)! Chemistry was my hardest too…I didn’t mind calculating the equations but beyond that, I had no clue what my teacher was on!

Reply

The mountains are beautiful behind you! Everything’s flat here in Illinois.
My shirt is black, it’s my pajajmas because I just woke up!

Reply

Haha I never get in cleaning mode! :) I’m in purple this morning. I talk to my sister the most too, love sisters!!

Reply

I always have random cleaning streaks! They usually happen in the morning before work or late at night.

Reply

Sounds like you’re nesting, with all of that cleaning! ;)

Hardest class … chemistry. Bleck. Hated it.

And I talk to my mom the most on the phone. She lives in another state, and we probably talk at least 5 times a week. :)

Reply

I have the same slippers on right now! Love them, they are my favorite, I think this is my 4th pair.
I clean every weekend, something about Saturday makes me want to clean – I am crazy I know. Then a few times a year I get in an all out cleaning mode, usually Spring, late Summer and after Christmas.
It was a University math class but I do not remember what it what called, but after not having any math classes for 3 years (none while in College) it sucked even more!
My Mom for sure, we talk every day.
Blue!

Reply

Do you ever get into cleaning modes where you just clean and clean at the most random time?
– Usually the weekend is my time for cleaning, but when I get into cleaning modes it’s always at night when I have to be quiet.

What was/is the hardest class that you ever took? (School wise….or workout wise if you want:)
– Any foreign language class. I took Spanish 1 for 3 years…that’s how bad I was. Then arabic and greek were a toughy.

Who do you talk on the phone with the MOST?
– My sister!!

What color is the shirt you are wearing right now?
– Orange and white pajama tee!

Reply

My sister always. It’s very strange if we don’t talk for a day or so. Email/text/phone and she only lives 10 minutes away. If I am with her and my husband at the same time and my phone rings I get very confused…I am with the 2 people I talk to who could this be?

I could clean anything at any given moment. Issues.

Brown tank with sweat spots – yippie for morning workout.

Reply

Way to go on the track workout!! And go Billy – he’s FAST! That little one of yours is going to have some crazy awesome running genes! I’ll keep an eye out for Janilly at the Olympics in 20 years ;)

Worst class ever = physics. Ridiculous. I was completely lost after the first week!

I’m wearing a teal shirt today.. Love teal :)

Reply

I clean at very random times….especially after watching the show Hoarders. Seriously, my family makes fun of me. I’ll start to watch that show and suddenly get up and start cleaning. I also de-hoard. Last week I filled up 3 black trash bags full of stuff, just because of watching that show.

I talk to my sister the most on the phone….for hours.

Reply

Toughest class – Calc 2 in college. Walked out of the final crying. Then changed my major. :)

Reply

Billy is seriously speedy, cant wait to hear about his races this summer!

i’m an obsessive cleaner…i definitely get into my moods. plus friday nights are reserved for deep cleaning. thank gosh our apartment is small, i dont know what i’m gonna do when we buy a house! (roomba?)

hmmm hardest class in college was Pre-calc..promptly dropped after a month of attempting ;)

i hate talking on the phone, im more of a texter. i guess i’d say my Dad..i could talk to him forever on the phone!

p.s. that salad looks delicious and i want one terribly

Reply

i do get into those cleaning modes and it ry to take advantage of it since cleaning is not my fav haha
love the outfit. I think if you are pregnant you can wear whatever you want to the store. :)
and my shirt right now is grey and pink with some blue swirly things

Reply

Good job to both you and Billy on your runs!!!
The hardest class I ever took was Physics IV in college. Death. Nerd alert……..it was the only B, but I didn’t even care that it killed my perfect GPA.
I do get into random cleaning modes and it’s generally when I arrive home after a great w/out—energy!!Do you ever get into cleaning modes where you just clean and clean at the most random time?
I probably talk to my husband the most on the phone b/c he lives in another state for 1/2 of every month. I, too, am wearing a green top!

Reply

I do go into rare but furious cleaning modes. Mostly when the house is practically bleeding dust, and I can’t see tabletops or carpets underneath the clutter anymore.

The hardest class I’ve ever taken… I’d say either Pre Calc (turns out, when you skip an entire month of class it’s hard to catch up!), Chemistry (especially when taught by a Russian lady with a poor grasp of English) or a poetry class that was ALL ABOUT memorization. Ick.

Reply

You guys are toooo cute!! I love that you meet up for a track run together :)

Reply

I start to clean when I am working from home. I sit down at my computer to respond to emails and then I glance over at the sink and go “oh, there are dishes that need to be done let me just take care of that” and then before I know it I have cleaned the entire apartment and I haven’t even touched my work. haha.

Reply

Some of the hardest classes I ever took were:

Intermediate Microeconomic Theory
Accounting for Measurement and Disclosure
Physics
Ancient Civilizations from Antiquity to 1660

Fun stuff, eh? Currently I’m wearing a turquoise shirt, and I will often get into cleaning modes when I have insomnia or when I don’t want to work. I talk to my mom and dad on the phone the most.

Reply

Um….your classes sound WAY harder than anything I ever took. You are AMAZING! Insomnia always inspires my cleaning craziness too!

Reply

Organic chemistry for sure!! I loved all my other Chem classes but not organic! My husband had to help me every day with the material. I definitely talk to my husband the most on the phone followed by my sister (ever since she had a baby it has been glorious) you look super fabulous as always and GREAT job running!!!! :)

Reply

Sounds FUN!

i LOVE when I get in cleaning moods too! you feel like superwoman!

Reply

I know what you mean about cleaning – sometimes I start and then just get in a mode and get so much done!

Reply

That scenery is amazing!! Do you think that you may be working out too much since you are pregnant? In recent posts you run twice a day (more than 3 miles each time) and then go to a class or work out twice a day in some other fashion. I just wonder if you may be working out too much for your body to handle both a developing baby and the exercise.

Reply

Hey Victoria. Thank you so much for your comment. I have cleared all of my workouts with my Doctor. Since I was coming from a very high fitness level from before my pregnancy he is more than okay with my mileage and workout classes. As long as I am getting in plenty of calories and able to hold a conversation while I am working out, he is says I am totally okay. Thanks!!

Reply

Last night! I made a to do list for today … and just decided to tackle all of the things that weren’t on the list. My place is looking good – and it’s about time.

I want that salad!

Reply

Are those Target slippers?! I have those Love them! I go everywhere in them, probably doesn’t make them the cleanest for my house, but at least we only have one room carpeted. AP physics was ridic hard for me as was Algebra 3 Trig, gross. Probably two of my worst mistakes. Ha that’s when I thought I was going to be an engineer. I get on cleaning tangents all the time, I just can’t keep up with all the hair from our animals and dust and clutter. I try and keep at least one room “tidy.” My husband doesn’t get how on Saturday mornings I can just get up and start cleaning. He’ll be making breakfast and I’ll be cleaning up his mess before he’s even done with it. Whoops….I just feel like I can’t relax until the mess is cleaned up. I can’t relax in clutter.

Reply

They sure are…I live in them, so comfy. You were going to do engineering…WOW! Oh my, I do the same thing on Saturday mornings, I don’t know what comes over me.

Reply

Ha ha, there is something about getting on a cleaning kick isn’t there?!
As far as classes go, science and I NEVER gelled. Even though I was a huge math fan.
My sweatshirt is maroon. :)

Reply

Just curious which half he’s running in April?

Reply

The Salt Lake City Half!! We are both doing it:)

Reply

Great picture of Billy! At first I thought you were calling him BS. Then I realized it was B Money. Haha. My shirt is white. The hardest class I ever took was Logic Theory. It took so much concentration and I hated it. I squeaked through with a B-.

Reply

BAHAHAH next post maybe I will call him BS:) Um…Logic Theory sounds INCREDIBLY hard. Way to get through it!

Reply

You look awesome, Janae! Glad you and Billy got a great run in.

I talk on the phone with my mom the most :) My hardest class was probably Calculus in high school- far more difficult than any of my college classes. Glad school is over for me for sure.

Reply

Thanks Lauren! Yep, I am not a math person either. That is kind of cool that you took such a challenging class in high school!

Reply

Um, shirt question? Little random there Janae. Lookin’ for a new question and couldn’t find one? It actually made me laugh out loud. My shirt colors do not in any way reflect my energy level as my favorite color is black. Therefore I live in black and nearly every shirt I own is black. Except the white ones. Or the gray ones. ;) Gotta mix it up.

Reply

HAHAHA it actually came from when I was looking at the picture at the track thinking how much I love my purple shirt and need more:) There are SO many cute black shirts…I understand your love for them!

Reply

Billy is SO fast. I am so amazed at how quickly he has improved. I only clean when I’m procrastinating doing something else!

Reply

Hey Girl! I am so jealous of where you live! Those mountains are beautiful! It defenitely doesn’t look like that here in Houston :(

I always want to clean right when I wake up.. Like even before I put my contacts in I’ll start picking stuff up and putting it away or folding laundrey… its weird.

Biology SUCKED.

I’m not much of a phone talker sadly because it makes it hard to stay in touch with long distance friends. I probably talk to my mom, and my best friend Meredith the most.

GREEN SHIRT TOO!!

Have a great day!

Reply

I find I clean when I am waiting for something. Like a hot time is before Chris comes home from work, or like if we have dinner plans with friends, I somehow always find myself cleaning before we leave.

I talk on the phone to my friend Becky most. I would talk to my sis more, but she hates chit chatting on the phone.

Brown shirt.

And I am proud of you for being more mature than me. I never do well when Chris is training for something I can’t. I am working on getting better at this!

Reply

Any math class was always super difficult for me!
I do go into cleaning modes! For some reason it’s usually Saturday mornings.
I talk to my parents the most on the phone. I call them every Sunday and we talk for usually an hour or so :)
I’m wearing a white shirt… not that exciting!

Reply

Billy’s training seems to be going great! I am not much of a phone person, but I would say I talk to my sister on the phone the most.

I am wearing a bright blue shirt.

Reply

I have kind of a tribal-ish looking dress on right now. With leggings. I love wearing leggings and dresses to work they are super comfy.

The track workout sounds fun! I am looking fwd to incorporating more track workouts into my routine after I run the Dallas Rock N Roll half this weekend. I always see Billy on daily mile, he is rocking it! I always want to write on there to tell you I said hello but I guess that would be weird. haha

I hope you have a great day today! :-)

Reply

I always get the bra sweat line! Oh well, it just means we WORKED, right?! ;)

I’m currently taking Financial Accounting– and learning that I hate accounting. Too bad I have to take Managerial Accounting after this… ugh!

I only get into “weird cleaning mode” after I’ve been sick. That’s the sign that I’m getting better: when I just have to clean something random! Otherwise, my cleaning schedule is pretty regular.

Keep up the good runs and the great pics!!! :)

Reply

I dispise cleaning so when I am in the mode to do it, it will last for hours.

Chemistry. Ugh. Hated it. Could not wrap my mind around it at all.

I talk to my mom the most on the phone. She’s 1900 miles away. =(

Purple shirt today! Because it matches the strip on my running tights, of course.

Reply

I’m jealous of the mountains too. It looks gorgeous!

I definitely go through cleaning patches. When I am unhappy with something in my life, it feels therapeutic to clean :)

I am wearing a white singlet.

Reply

I am wearing a white race t-shirt. Eventually I will get ready for the day. Most likely 5 minutes before I have to take my daughter to gymnastics. Ha!

My anataomy and physiology classes were the hardest. I loved them and the info wasn’t hard to learn, but I had a professor who made it his goal to try and be the hardest professor at Utah State. You hear me Andy Anderson? You are nutso!

I talk my my mom and my younger sister every day on the phone. Conversations average a 1/2 hr. I talk to my older sister too, but probably 3 times a week (she had a full time job so it miught put a damper on the lengthy phone calls).

Did my mango salsa comment make you want another salad?? ;)

And seriously your work out and running regime has me speechless. How do you do it all? You are amazing! Do you sleep for 12 hrs at night as a result?

Reply

Janae! I read your blog like crazy :)

Come check out mine if you ever want to cook cheesecake for Billy instead of taters–or maybe make him cook if for you! :)

oooh physical science. ouch. took that last semester. i also thought american heritage was crazy. thank heavens i’m done with those classes!!

i’m currently wearing my BYU blue- RISE UP shirt :)

Reply

YAY awesome run, janae! i knew you would get back into the groove :) your baby is pretty fast too. future olympian!?

most of my cleaning is done in the morning, although i DO go through random spurts near midnight where i just want to clean every counter top/surface in sight, and then get down on my hands & knees and start scrubbin’ the floor. not that i actually do that… oops.

the hardest class i ever took was math 12 in highschool. i’m not a numbers person whatsoever. i actually took one level down throughout highschool & took the hardest level in my graduating year because a counselor said it would be more beneficial for post-secondary education. however, i am now in a program that i love where math isn’t a huge issue at all!

i probably talk to my mom & dad on the phone the most, since i am all moved out now! i’m also wearing my boyfriend’s white shirt. it’s still pajama hour (or rather, day?) in the household!

Reply

Ooo track date! Fun! I definitely talk to my mom the most!! Haha. Last year it was my husband when we were in a LDR! So glad we’re married now!! haha.

And I love random cleaning spurts!

Reply

I’m always in cleaning mode. It’s my curse.

I think I probably talk to my mom the most on the phone. Everyone else, I just text.

Reply

i LOVE getting in cleaning mode. it takes me awhile to muster up the motivation to actually clean but once i do… you can’t stop me! I’m wearing green & purple today :)

Reply

Billy is getting so fast. sheesh! I am pacing SLC half you should run with me (2:10). We would have oh so much fun together. :)

Love costa Vida. Yum!!! Have an amazing day. :)

My hubby was a physical science teaching major at BYU. Now he teaches those classes (chemistry, physics, geology, physical science) in high school and thinks I could not get an A in his class. I know I could.

I’m definitely not in cleaning mode today, but that’s because I’ve been keeping up on things lately. The good weather seems to make me want to spring clean.

Reply

those are my favorite kind of dates. and wow, look at those mountains!

Reply

My major is Chemistry, so a lot of my classes have been a pain. The one that takes the cake, though is Physical Chemistry, a class that is a mixture of analytical physics, calculus, and chemistry. Basically, the worst combo ever.

I do get into cleaning modes when I am stressed sometimes. Because, while you can’t control a lot of life situations, you can totally control how clean your apartment is.

My shirt is blue! :)

Reply

1:25 is definitely in the cards for Billy.

The mountains look like its June – there’s hardly any snow! :-) So much different than last year… I’m definitely enjoying being out on the track on these warm afternoons!

Reply

After a terrible run one day (I think I had to cut it in half), I ended up deep-cleaning our stove for 30 minutes… I think it helped me keep my mind off how bad of a run it was!

I talk to my mom a lot on the phone. We talk at least four times a week and I’ll frequently call her on my lunch break and we’ll talk the whole time.

Reply

I wish I had a sister to talk to everyday! My brothers really aren’t into the phone. It’s more like an email every month or so! I do talk to my Mom at least 4-5 times a week.

I go through cleaning spurts. Last night I scrubbed all of our floors by hand! I don’t know what came over me! :)

Reply

Could you guys be any cuter?! A couple that runs together stays together FOREVER :D
I need some more pictures of your cute bump! I seriously can’t even tell that you are pregnant- you look amazing!!!
I seriously want one of those salads…right now. And lately salads have just not been sounding too good…but those look GREAT!

Reply

Are those real mountains in the background? Landscape like this makes me jealous of Utah and other states but I just can’t give up my mass transit subway =)

Reply

I go into crazy cleaning modes when I have school work to do and I wake up in the morning. Rather than start work, I just clean like crazy!

Reply

Last week I went on a cleaning spree. I decided that one of our closets looked horrible, so I hung a bunch of hooks in it and cleaned out out really well. Totally unplanned, but I’m glad I did it!

I don’t talk on the phone a whole lot, but I probably talk to my parents the most. Everyone else just texts me :)

I’m wearing a pink shirt right now.

Your salad looks amazing! I’m so hungry right now!

Janae-
Are still doing 2 workouts a day while pregnant? That seems unsafe

I have two dogs.. my house ALWAYS needs to be cleaned.. Usually I do it when the hair-tumble weeds get out of control (which doesn’t take more than 2 days.. and since I have all wood floors it’s even worse) I’ll be honest.. I don’t clean nearly as much as I should.. but hey I have other more fun things to do which are way more important!
I love that you and Billy have running/track dates.. Adorable!

Reply

Billy I’m rooting for you!!!
My hardest class was sociological theory. I am a science person and all the old philosophy stuff was SO over my head!

Reply

aw Billy is getting so fast!

I don’t know what the hardest class I took was (uh I didn’t understand any of them let’s be honest). But my undergrad was chemical engineering so I had hilariously painful sounding classes.

Best Titles: Kinetics and Reactor Design…. Transport Phenomena. Seriously, what IS that???

Reply

Love seeing the mountains in the background of some of your pictures! You are probably used to seeing them but I would love to have those as a backdrop to my runs. Ohio isn’t the most scenic but my routes are usually pretty flat so I guess I like that :)

Reply

Wow, Billy is FAST! I can’t even imagine seeing how fast that would look!?

Yeah, we do go into a cleaning frenzy but usually it’s because it’s overdo for a cleaning. I hate cleaning but also hate clutter and love a clean house. The hardest class I ever took was AP Physics my junior year of high school. We transferred from Ft. Worth to Sacramento mid-way through sophomore year and with the different schools, I was ahead in sciences and took it because my brother and other senior friends were there. I should have literally stopped while I was ahead. English major and Physics/Math do not match. ;) I talk to my husband the most; he calls everyday on his way home from work. It’s one of the highlights of my day. That probably sounds sad but we are best friends! ;) My memory sucks and I forgot your other question. Have a great day, Janae!

Reply

Wow, great job Billy! With 6:13 miles, I bet even his recovery jogs are fast for me :)

I wish I got in a cleaning mode more often than I do. Sometimes I feel the urge to clean at times that it is not convenient…like right before I should be going to bed. Hardest class ever may have been Calculus in 12th grade, I had to work really hard at it. In college, I enjoyed my Art History (elective) class, and although I have an amazing memory for past events and useless facts, I found it tough to memorize multiple facts about each of the 100 slides we could be tested on each time.

Lately, I feel like I’ve spent the most time on the phone with my friends from my old job in NJ.
