I figured out the solution to help me stop feeling overwhelmed….do absolutely nothing productive.
This included watching The Biggest Loser and yes, I am doing a thumbs up….Dolvett and Bob are the only reasons I am still watching the show. I did fall asleep about 15 minutes in and woke up right before the weigh in so I missed all of the drama in between.
Billy was about to leave on his run and I begged him to make me a baked potato (put in the microwave) for me so that I didn’t have to start being a real person and get out of bed until my dinner was ready for me, teaching early morning spin poops me out.
He played a pretty funny joke on me and decided to cook a ‘normal’ person serving size for a potato….I don’t think so honey.
It turned out to be a good thing because for my second ‘Janae’ sized potato I came up with the brilliant idea to top it with salsa. That probably sounds gross to you but I say if you love both foods dearly then combine them into one bite.
Yoga was skipped (at least I wore my yoga clothes, that kind of counts) because I forgot that a certain someone had been counting on us to come to something very important.
Okay, really my nephew but this event is one of my dad’s all-time favorite yearly things. The Pinewood Derby, for scouts they make a car and see who can make the fastest one. My dad just gets a little into this and loves helping his kids and grandkids and doing all of the equations/smart stuff to insure that their car wins. He has never lost until last night, they only lost by 4/100s of a second.
And the reason we really love going to these sorts of things: refreshments.
You still watching the Biggest Loser? Who do you think will win?
Any weird food combinations that you have been loving lately?
What did you have for dinner last night?
Who’s RUNNING today?
Wait why is potato topped with salsa gross….it’s freakin’ delicious! I’m with you on that one! I had such a random but delicious dinner last night: veggie stir fry with prawns & seafood and feta stirred in…all topped with hummus!
Katie @ msfitrunner
I LOVE that mango salsa! and I made salmon burgers last night – I think that’s my favorite dinner. I am the same way when I get overwhelmed – I do nothing instead. a weird phenomenon. Hope you have a great day today:-)
Kaitlyn @ Pain Can Be Fun
The majority of my dinner last night consisted of chocolate cake and ice cream :) I got home late and that was all I wanted. Very satisfying. (I promise, I don’t eat that every night for dinner).
I have been watching the Biggest Loser on and off this season….but I’m really just focused on the BACHELOR and getting Courtney to go away!
Still watching. But just for Dolvette. No strange combinations right now. Dinner was steak and baked potato. And no running. TAPER!
The Kidless Kronicles
I love salsa on my potato. My husband makes the best salsa in the world and it makes everything better. I’m watching Biggest Loser this year, but I have yet to connect with any of the contestants. By this point, I’m usually rooting big time for someone, but this group just seems to be holding back. And the game playing the black team pulled last night makes me sick. As long as Bob and Dolvett are around though, I’ll keep watching. I love those two!
I might need your husbands salsa recipe:) I totally agree…I usually have a favorite but this season I just know who I absolutely DO NOT want to win. Thank goodness for Bob and Dolvett!
The one you don’t want to win…does her name start with a C and rhyme with Honda? :-)
I’m still watching Biggest Loser mainly because I keep waiting for Con
da to go home! I got my 8 miles in this morning and will be hitting up jody pump after work, then my butt will be on the couch for the rest of the evening :)
Okay, I see 8 miles and a comment at 6:07. What time do you get up lady!?!?!
It’s after 8 here in Michigan, I was out the door at 5:30. I’m not that nuts! But I guess to some people that’s still crazy :)
UM…still 5:30…you are incredible Meghan! Way to get in an awesome run! Yep, I will jump up and down when Conda goes home! Enjoy pump tonight!
kari @ Running Ricig
Baked potatoes and salsa is sooo good. I’m thinking about having that for dinner tonight, since it’s Mike’s poker night.
Last night for dinner I made homemade cheese pizza. Delicious.
I’m definitely running today. I was going to run this morning, but that just wasn’t happening.
I love biggest loser. I fell asleep as well though. Last thing I remember is Daphne gaining weight. I’m going to have to google the results. Lately I’ve been putting honey mustard (from Town Spa – a pizza joint) on everything. Eggs, Sweet Potatoes, Salad.
pretty sure i always top my baked potatoes with cottage cheese AND salsa. Nothing wrong with that!
BRILLIANT with the cottage cheese topping idea. Can’t wait to try it!
I LOVE salsa on a baked potato – mix in a little sour cream and … WHAM! Perfection. I’ve also topped mine with sauteed onions, peppers and tomatoes. Delicious.
I can’t believe I’m still watching biggest loser this season. The women on this season are so catty – Conda is the worst. She’s making herself look like an absolutely horrible person. I can’t wait to see her eliminated. Watch, she’ll probably win! Sheesh.
UM YUM….I will have to try your baked potato toppings! I wonder if they are paying her to act extra ridiculous or something because they want more drama…I just don’t get it!
J–I can’t wait to hear about your coupons/comps! Also–try cottage cheese on baked potato. It is my FAVORITE! e
You are the BEST! Thanks Elizabeth and I hope you are having an amazing day!
Deirdre @ Oh Well Whatever
I have not been watching this season at all, used to be super into it. I love bob. Had steamed artichokes and super yummy dip last night. Feels weird since I think of it as such a summer food. Hope to get in 3 miles after work tonight.
I wanted to watch this season but then never did! When I had Fios I would watch it on , OnDemand all the time! But after moving… no fios… sad.
I had a turkey sandwich and put jalapenos on it! And I ate about half a bag of pirate’s booty. It’s soooo good!
I was suppose to run this morning but that didn’t happen. So I’m just moving my running days around :)
HEY GORGEOUS!! Brilliant to add the jalepenos…those things are amazing. Don’t worry about BL…you aren’t missing much this season. Hope you are having a great day!
hannah @ palmbeachrunner
I have been loving baked sweet potatoes with whipped cream cheese on top- I know really weird!
THAT SOUNDS AMAZING HANNAH…I will be trying that!
Salsa on baked potatoes……a definite must!
Last night, made homemade mac and cheese and salads. I love when the peas of my salad or some of the salad dressing makes it into the cheesy goodness. Then for dessert, chopped up a banana and put a scoop of drumstick ice cream on top. I let it get all melty like…….ymmmmmm….those are my two weird combos of yesterday.
Just a 4 miler today. I gave myself a “i don’t feel like running, so I ‘m not” day off on Monday, and it was FANTASTIC. We have to remember to do those once and a while.
AHHH I think I am going to make homemade mac and cheese tonight…girl, we are soul mates. Your dessert sounds amazing, I will be trying that! I am so glad you that you gave yourself a day off….it makes the next run so much better!
Stephanie @ The Travelling Tastebuds
I was feeling SO overwhelmed this morning… China time. But then I realized that I was the problem. I was pushing myself to do more & be more in less time. What I needed was a chillax pill. I settled for chocolate & tea. We need to be more forgiving of ourselves & to realize that it’s OK to not be everything all the time :) Also… life is way more fun this way!
Stephanie, you are so right! I am so glad that you were able to relax and realize that it is okay if we aren’t perfect and everything doesn’t get done on time:) Thank you so much for sharing this with me!
Yellow Haired Girl
I’m still watching BL …. and I don’t care who wins at this point (mostly because I can’t remember anyone’s names to choose a fave), but if Dolvett and Bob continue to show up – I’ll be content ;)
I put cottage cheese on my spaghetti the other day. I liked it, but thought it was a weird choice haha. Have a great day!
Liz @ Tip Top Shape
I haven’t watched Biggest Loser in years, but I used to love that show. Only thing is it would make me really want to eat. Apparently watching people work out to the point of vomiting does that to me, lol.
i’ve never had salsa on my baked potato but i think i’ll need to try it! salsa and sour cream sounds like perfection on a potato :)
i made turkey quinoa meatloaf and roasted honey sweet potatoes last night..good comfort food when i’m sick!
i’m running today, but on the treadmill and taking it easy…still not feeling too hot today :(
I am so sorry that you are still not feeling well! YUM your dinner sounds amazing! Hope you get better ASAP!
Jen Correa @ Mom's Gotta Run
I don’t care who wins BL as long as it’s NOT Conda or Kim. They are like the Mean Girls!
That was the best comparison ever….they really are like the Mean Girls!
Emily @ Sweating Sugar
I am over the Biggest Loser……and by over it! I mean I will continue to watch it religiously. Duh, but I wish the people were more likable this season.
BAHAHAH Your comment made me laugh so hard!
Andrea @ Andrea Out Loud!
You and your baked potatoes!! haha kidding – that actually sounds so good right now!
I havent been watching biggest loser at all this season dangit!
Dinner last night was just some chicken breast, steamed veggies, and mashed potatoes!
I actually DVR’d it, and watched part of it this morning while on the dreadmill. I actually am wondering if Conda was really as bad as they make her out to be? If so, I am wondering if she is watching? I can’t believe she would be proud. I would think her family is appauled.
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat
I tell my salsa loving clients (who are trying to lose weight) to use it on everything – potatoes, omelets, veggies, whatever!
Heather @ run eat play
Mango and peach salsa! Yum! I just got my wisdom tooth out yesterday and it didn’t go as planned and now I have stitches in my gums and lots of pain medicine. So for dinner last night I had a shamrock shake and there will be no running, BodyPump, or yoga :(
HEATHER!!! I hope that you heal quickly and enjoy lots of ice cream and popsicles!! Oh my the shamrock shake is so good. This will be a great time to let your body fully recover and you will be more ready to run than ever!
I just hope Conda doesn’t win. I really don’t like when people make this show all about the game play. You’re there to change your life, people! Do it!
Conda drives me absolutely NUTS!! I feel like she is a 14 year old mentally with all of her drama. You are so right about being there to change your life…not fight with people!
I’ve been trying to get more protein in my diet so on a whim last night I bought … COTTAGE CHEESE and grapes! I ate them with a Salmon burger. Weird, but protein packed. Thanks for the inspiration!
AHHHH EMILY…I am so happy that you tried my favorite combo. Isn’t it incredible!?!?! Way to get so much protein in..keep me updated especially if you find any other delicious cc combos:)
BL made me so mad last pm. I only saw the last hour (I taught aerobics from 4pm-8pm NONSTOP!!!! That’s not counting my morning classes……and teaching school). Point being, I swore to the TV that I was not going to watch another episode this season (yeh right..). BUT the show has completely lost it’s focus and purpose in my opinion.
I acutally didn’t eat din-din last pm. By the time I got home all I wanted to do was shower and gulp water…I can’t drink during classes b/c I have a bladder the size of a nickle…
I make “kitchen sink” salads daily so in most ppl’s opinion all my food choices are weird!
I’m glad you are less stressed than you were last pm.
4-8 straight…HOLY COW!!! It really did lose focus and the only thing I enjoy is watching their workouts! NO DINNER…AHHHH You better get some good eats in today. Thanks so much Colleen! PS are you on Facebook? We should be friends!
I LOVE baked potatoes!! I could eat them every day :) I top my tater w/ salsa sometimes along with black beans, but I love them w/ broccoli, ham and a little cheese.
YUM!! That sounds incredible, I am so going to copy your ham and cheese combo. Thanks Cass!
Have you seen the tips online about wrapping potatoes in foil and “baking” them in a slow-cooker? You can get lots of baked potatoes that way and they come out all fluffy!
WHAT!?!?!?! KAYYYYYYY!!!! You absolutely just made my day. I have never even thought of doing this. How long do you put them in? On low?
Yeah it looks so much easier since you just leave it all day!
Omg I am going to have to try this! Baked potatoes waiting and ready for me after work? Yes please!
YES! You can also do it with sweet potatoes, it is amazing. I just started doing this, I cook 5 sweet potatoes and russets, in whatever combination is available, in my slow cooker and throw them in a tupperware in the fridge. Then I take one to work each day with some toppings for the cheapest, most filling, lunch ever. It barely even gets the crockpot dirty. The microwaved sweet potato that was cooked a week ago in the slow cooker might not be the most beautiful thing you have seen, but just ignore it. The skin peels off easy and it tastes just as good as if you hadn’t been hoarding already cooked potatoes in your refrigerator all week.
You guys are my heroes! Thank you so much for the link Kay and thanks Katie for letting me know about the sweet potatoes too! You guys are brilliant, I can’t wait to try this out TODAY!
I’m apparently really passionate about this topic . . . I just noticed that this method posted above calls for wrapping the potatoes in foil. I’m not sure if this would change the consistency, but I just wash them and then drop them into the slow cooker still wet. You know, cut out the minute and a half that it might take to wrap them in foil. (Oh who am I kidding, really skipping the “have aluminum foil available in your house” part.)
natalie @ southern fit foodie
I love crazy weird food combinations! Pickles and peanut butter? Yes please! I love salsa on baked potatoes!
Dinner last night was fresh flounder (hard to find in west TN, but this was straight from the gulf) and roasted asparagus. SO SO SO good!
Sometimes doing nothing is the best solution to being overwhelmed. :)
Girl, I am totally going to have to try out your pickles and pb combo, that sounds delicious!! YUM, fresh flounder and asparagus, I am drooling!
I’ve been loving eggs with blackberry jelly so good!
Speed work tonight!
YUM….do you eat it with toast or just the egg and jam?!?! I love egg/jam/cheese sandwiches! You are going to rock your speed work tonight!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats
I love BL! I can’t wait until I get a chance to watch it on Hulu! I also deal with being overwhelmed by doing nothing, unfortunately I’ve had zero time to do nothing for way to long – hence my feeling of overwhelmedness (yes, that’s a word…). And I am running today, just a 3 mile run, rest tomorrow and then 13 on Friday! It will be a PDR! Haha I might make it 13.1 just for fun…
Cat @ Breakfast to Bed
I love baked potatoes with salsa and a TON of cilantro. Not weird-amazing.
Would love to run today, but STILL trying to deal with an achy left knee and trying to balance time off versus lost fitness. Sigh.
I attempted to make cheesesteak sandwiches last night. I tried to health them up and they turned out well, but you can definitely tell that they are not the authentic version that you find in Philly. Why does fat have to taste so good? LOL
Salsa on a baked potato is super yummy!!! I watched BL last night and it was okay. I haven’t really enjoyed it since Jillian left. I am running this evening. Yay!!!
Elizabeth @ Southern Color
Great combo! My personal fave is a sweet potato topped with TJ’s salsa verde!
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes
I made a lentil cauliflower stew with sweetpotato for dinner last night :)
TBL has been WAY too drama filled!!! I feel sorry for Bob and Dolvett!!!
The BL is so incredibly frustrating this season. I want to punch 3/4 of the contestants in the face. Love the pinewood derby. So fun!
Last night for dinner I had a Janae sized salad. :)
Ugh….Last night was the first night I didn’t DVR the Biggest Loser. The drama was too much for me this season.
I do love Bob and Dolvet though!!
I love salsa!
I put it in everything! Yes everything. In fact, we go through those Costco Size bottle in a weak. It’s gross, I know it and I still love it. 14 mile treadmill run on the agenda today.
And yes, I don’t know why but I still watch BL. I keep hoping the whiney girls will get voted off eventually.
A WEEK…finally someone that understands me, I do the same thing! WAHOOOOO 14 miles on the treadmill, you’ve got this girl. Yep, those girls need to get out of here!
Pinewood derby! So fun, I remember watching my little brother every year with his car.
I used to love Biggest Loser but now I watch it while I do other things or not watch it at all. Not that into it anymore.
Running this afternoon in the beautiful 60 degree weather :)
60 degree weather…that is awesome. I hope you enjoy every minute of your beautiful run today! I hear you about doing other things while I watch…I used to be so obsessed with that show:(
Brittany @ GOtheXtraMile
Top your potato with salsa AND sour crema (or greek yogurt) sosososo good!
And you are BRILLIANT! Thanks Brittany!
Salsa on baked potatoes is amazing, not weird at all! How long do you cook it in the microwave? The biggest loser is so annoying these days!!
9 minutes because my potatoes are HUGE ha:) Good to know that combo isn’t weird!!
Baked taters and salsa is DELIC! Not gross…
I am watching BL, but soooo tired of the drama this season is bringing. What was the black team thinking last night and I am still so confused about Daphne’s little switcheroo. I didn’t get it.
I made quinoa-zucchini lasagna last night, its one of my fav meals!
Its really nice out, so I might go for a run after work.
I keep watching Biggest Loser but have about decided that I’m done with it. Of the entire case, I think the only one I like is Buddy. Everyone else is so unlikeable. Not nice to say, but it is easy to see why their weight got out of control, their lives seem pretty out of control.
Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon
Black beans and salsa make the BEST potato toppings!!!!!
My newest obsession is baked potatoes topped with salsa and Wholly Guacamole! Serve it alongside a cold glass of chocolate milk after a good run…. HEAVEN! The drama on the Biggest Loser is not exactly making me happy. I miss OLD Biggest Loser. I say we bring Jillian back, keep Dolvett (cause he’s such a cutie!), keep Bob, and eliminate the drama!
Jess @ Blonde Ponytail
I still love Dolvett and Bob (I think Bob is getting better every episode) but the contestants this season are painful to watch–so many excuses even though its the season of NO excuses.
So special to be there for your Dad-family first. My latest obsession is the chocolate protein cake I made–so good!
Brooke @ sweats & sweets
Love Biggest Loser! I was so happy Daphne went home, finally! I was the only person in my house to dislike her, honestly you could tell how shady she was. I really want Emily to win, I don’t know why. I wanted to run longer, but for some reason I ran past my house too early and was like, “hey there is pound cake in there!” so I ended it to eat some cake from work. Still got 3 miles in.
Salsa on baked potatoes isn’t weird- it’s fantastic!
I ate baked potatoes topped with sour cream and salsa for dinner constantly while I was in college.
I decided to try your cottage cheese/grape combo and I am not in love with it yet but I do like it. Although there needs to be a lot of grapes involved. My sister has been obsessed with this food combo and she adds cinnamon!
Of course I’m still watching Biggest Loser, Bob and Dolvett are the reasons I still watch too, the drama is ridiculous, but I can’t miss an episode.
I am rooting for Emily on the black team and she is from NC!
[email protected] Bites
I’m still watching Biggest Loser, but I don’t care for the majority of the contestants. I cannot believe Conda is still on the show. She seem like a manipulative person. I hope it gets better
I love salsa. I can eat it on everything. Yum!!!
I love loaded baked potatoes! On Monday night I topped mine with shredded chicken (that baked in BBQ sauce), cottage cheese, and spicy Country Bob’s sauce (I think its a local sauce). AMAZING! Its even better if you dont eat it all (ok, so if Billy doesnt eat it all) and you can heat it up the next day – the cottage cheese melts into this yummy goodness!!!
Lately I have been totally hooked on baked potatoes with heaps of hummus.
I love baked potatoes with salsa too! I also love them with tons of ketchup, or even BBQ sauce. My favorite potato is a sweet potato with stay butter, cinnamon, a drizzle of maple syrup, and peanut butter! It is soooo good(especially if u bake it. I have been putting my potato in the oven, going for my long run and when I come back my house smells good and after a quick shower, eat!! For new yrs appetizers we made bbq potato skins. It was so easy: bake the potato, scoop out most of the potato part, put Lloyd’s BBQ (already made BBQ of good quality) and heat them back up in oven. U can’t mess up a potato. :)
