Our Favorite Restaurant and Surfing

It is official, Friday’s are my favorite day of the week.  I teach my favorite classes, we get out early and I got to meet up with my cousin for our favorite Yogurtland treat.   Red velvet with cinnamon toast crunch for the win.  I don’t know how that one brownie bit got in there and once I tried it, I don’t know why I didn’t get fifty more.

After doing the dishes (tried to bring my day down but didn’t because I talked with my sis on the phone the whole time) I took a nap and before I knew it we were off to party.

BIlly really loves it when I make him do cool poses with me on a surfboard.   My technique is perfect if you ask me.

We went to The Provo Beach Resort and it was incredible.  There was a rope course, indoor surfing, a miniature croquet course, bowling and a trillion games all in one magical building.  I will be working for extra money this next week so that I can try each and every activity.

Our view on the way to dinner….

We went for sushi at Happy Sumo on a triple date.  They have a special deal after 9 pm on weekends where most of the menu is 50% OFF. Insanity.  It was a sacrifice though because I am used to eating dinner 4 hours earlier and when the edamame got to the table I ate the bowl in a world record time.

I had the Mama Mango roll (tempura shrimp, cream cheese and avocado topped with fresh mango, toasted coconut and a sweet sauce.  Billy had the Firecracker and the Vegas.

For the other half of my meal I had chicken lettuce wraps.  I actually worked at this restaurant for two years and this was one of the things that I got a few times a week, I have missed it dearly and it tasted just as good as it did after a long shift.

Be prepared for many more weekend posts about our sushi adventures.  When a meal is 50% off, it is more than okay to go 1-2 times a week.

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the best big sister in the whole wide world.  Can’t wait to party with you and thanks for being my bestie.

I really have no desire to surf. just one of those things that if I never do it, I won’t be heartbroken.
The next race I’m training for is the Gansett Marathon in April. I don’t think I’m going to do any before that.
Happy happy weekend!!!

That sushi looks fabulous…as does that fro up! The last sushi roll I had (and my fave for that matter) is salmon avocado- I love my fats! I’m going to start training for a 10km from Monday- no race yet but I like having a schedule! Happy birthday to your sissy!

It was funny, I messed up initially and scrolled through the pictures pretty quickly before reading, and I thought they were crepes…I was thinking to myself, oh those crepes look so good, I can’t wait to hear about them. LOL

Don’t mind me, evidently I must be hungry for crepes.

I don’t eat fish/seafood, but I do love lettuce cupss!

I love red velvet fro yo! Definitely one of my favorite flavors :)

I’ve been surfing once when I was like 12? Pretty sure it would much harder now! But it was a ton of fun!

The last sushi I had was at my student center.. it was just okay but I don’t remember what was in it.

Next race? Kansas City: Rock the Parkway half marathon!! Wahoo!

I LOVE sushi. My favorite is the crab/cream cheese/cucumber roll. yummy.

I am training to run more 5ks. Not much, but I don’t think my body is a fan of running distances longer than 4 miles (always get hurt), so 5k seems to be my best option for racing!

Brown rice veggie was my last sushi roll :)

I have never been and it is not on my to-do list. Unless it is some sort of video game.
I don’t eat sushi.
The AZ Half on 2/25.

Hmm I’ve only had those california rolls but what you had looks amazing!!!!! I’ve got a marathon in May.. fingers crossed!

Wow, they must really drop off in business to be able to offer that. My dinner hour would officially be changed if that was available in Orlando. I usually eat dinner at 5, so I’d be really hard to get along with from 5 to 9. :-)

Never been and not sure I want to! I am not a fan of open water – scared of sharks etc ;) When we were in Costa Rica my hubby surfed and the huge waves made me so paranoid I couldn’t watch him! haha I am a wimp.
Last sushi roll was one with shrimp and mango I think. I love sushi!
I have decided to give my body a year off from major races but did sign up for a tri-triathlon, so very MINI – 250m swim, 8km bike and 3km run in May. I am excited to learn how to swim for it – a new adventure is always fun :)

I have tried surfing! It is so so fun!

My next race is the DC Rock n’ Roll half marathon in March!

Random question about spin: I went to my first class on Thursday and my butt really hurt afterwards. Will that happen everytime or will it stop hurting when I’m more used to it??

The indoor surfing is AWESOME!!! I went to a place down in San Diego and did that, it was outside though, and OMG! Every time I see a cruise line commercial with one of those on it I tell my story. It IS sooooo much harder than it looks, but as soon as you get you, you will feel totally B.A!!!
When you and Billy decide to hit the waves, please please please make sure you have the video on, on your camera!

When I went surfing in NC, I understood why some people are obsessed! The feeling you get when the wave is pushing you, its like all the sudden this huge, powerful force is behind you and you’re just along for the ride. It’s a very cool feeling! Philadelphia roll and Cowtown 10K in Fort Worth, TX.

Looks so fun – the only time I’ve had sushi is from a sample at Whole Foods.
There’s this cool 5k that I’m doing with my family in April – The Dash and Dine. Teams of four people run a 5k, then after your cross the finish you race to eat foods from local restaurants, finishing up with a giant ice cream cookie! Yes, I’ll run to eat ice cream and cookies!

Mmmnnnn sushi. My next emeace is Half at Hamptons in NH in Feb.

I went surfing a few times when I was in Hawaii for a semester and it was a blast! I’ve only tried sushi once and wasn’t a huge fan…I didn’t hate it either, but it just didn’t really hold anything for me. My next race is the St. George 1/2 in 2 weeks!

Surfing is my new(ish) favourite sport! I went on a girlie surfing weekend last year and loved it (even though British seas are horribly cold!). I’m rubbish at it, but want to do more in 2012…

And I love sushi too – it’s one of the best meals out, especially when there’s a special offer!

I kind of am training for an event, but keeping it quiet for now… :)

Haha I could not eat that late!! But I have always wanted to try surfing and I’m looking for some races to train for!

I went surfing in Hawaii on my high school senior trip. It was so much fun, and I would love to do it again!

We had sushi last Friday night, and we got a quasimoto roll, garland roll, and a mermaid salad. The mermaid salad is my favorite – it’s chopped raw spicy tuna, white fish, and salmon tossed with avocado, cucumber, and this spicy sauce. SO good!

Reply

I tried surfing once when I was younger (pretty popular in Australia obviously!). It was hard! I might give it another go, but I am more keen to try paddle boarding.

Next race I am training for is NYC Half!

That mango roll thingie looks phenomenal! I want one super bad!

I’m not training for anything super big, just a 5k in February. I got a 20:03 at my last 5k and I’m DYING to get under the 20 minute mark.

I’m using my foam roller that I got for Christmas for the first time today and I remembered you had a video of you using it. I found it but it’s not working… :(

That surfing thing looks fun! We’ll have to try it when we come to Utah in July. Have fun with your St. George Girl’s Retreat! I didn’t know they had that. Is it new? My next race is a 25K on January 28th, so it’s coming up!

That’s it…I’m making the mr. take me somewhere good for lunch. Oh and that surfing pics of u two reminds me of a highschool dance photo. Are you sure you weren’t chaperons?

I have been surfing. My husband taught me when we vacationed in Cocoa Beach, Florida. It was awesome! It’s a hard feeling to describe but once you’re standing up and letting the wave take you, you have such an appreciation for the ocean.

My last sushi roll was an Ultimate Veggie Roll. As a vegan, I don’t have as many creative options as you had (at least at my local restaurant). I should start looking around or maybe start making my own…

I’m training for the Iron Girl Half-Marathon in Clearwater, FL. It’s my first half and I’m super excited! It’s a goal I’ve been waiting to achieve since I started running last year. 3 1/2 more months to go!

Reply

Ha love the surfing pic! I have never been and would maybe try though!

Wow!! What a fun looking place with lots to do inside!

Today is my bestie’s birthday!!! My husband turns 26 today!

Its been ages since I’ve had sushi, probably since college in 2007. Not a lot of sushi places in rural Iowa ;).

I really want to PR in my next race. Its a 5K in May, so I don’t know that I am really training for it yet, but it will be next race. Not too many races around here until Spring time.

My next race is an indoor half marathon in 2 weeks.
Side note: I had a totally random and vivid dream last night that I came out to Utah to visit you and we went to some sort of amazing gym with multiple pools and crazy awesome equipment. Sorry if that’s creepy.

Wow, your guys’ night was WAY more fun than mine! Looks like a really good time.

Have you ever heard of Groupon? It’s an online coupon thing you sign up for (free). They have “NOW” deals that are only good for the day, and a lot of the times they will have frozen yogurt places on there…ex. “$5 for $10 worth of frozen yogurt”. You buy the Groupon and take it into the restaurant. It really is a STEAL.
