I don’t know about you, but the idea of going on VACATION and RUNNING while you are there makes me smile so big my face almost explodes.

Runcation Definition:

1.  People building a vacation around a race.

2.  Something that you SHOULD do a few times a year to remain happy.

See synonyms at awesome, the best way to spend money, a guaranteed good time, ridiculously cool and why Janae will file for bankrupcy in a few years.

We are taking another runcation tomorrow to Las Vegas (sorry, this is the first time I brought it up on the blog…I mean I really haven’t talked about it that much;) and it is all I can think about.

There is nothing better to me than traveling to a new city and going to the expo and meeting new friends….

IMG 0510

Eating all of the food that the city has to offer……

IMG 0629

(Crumbs Bakery, I still dream about you every night)

and seeing the whole city by foot……

IMG 0589

(I will miss you Hollister jacket from eighth grade that I donated at the clothes drop off right before the NYCM started, who keeps their clothes from that long ago?)

I was reading DEAN KARNAZES blog the other day and that is where I got today’s topic of Runcations.  He has had some incredible runcations and I love reading about his experiences.

Don’t you hate it when you spend 45 minutes reading through all of the comments on a post and look up at the clock and realize you are now late to something becuase you had to read about strangers runcations……well, that is what happened to me.  I loved reading about where everyone had gone on a vacation that was planned around running.

You can read about a teacher that has already spent over $20,000 on marathon traveling HERE.  Better believe I have a major case of race envy after reading about some of his experiences.

——————————————————

Have you done any RUNCATIONS?  Where did you go?  What RUNCATIONS do you want to go on?  Do you have any runcations coming up?

Do you have clothes that you have kept from high school……junior high?

-I still have a lot of random things from HS (that I never wear but for some reason can’t throw away) but that jacket was my last item from jr. high.

Love Vegas or not so much?  What should I eat while I am there?

Thanks Allie! Have an amazing weekend!

Reply

I’m not a good enough runner for a runcation, but it definitely sounds like a ‘must’ for pros like you!

I am in the same boat with the clothes from school…I have so many Tshirts that even homeless people would refuse to wear, butI just can’t chunk them. They’re so comfy, too!

Reply

Whatever…you are too! BAHAHA let’s keep our old tshirts until we are 90…okay?!?!

Hi Janae! If you guys are driving to Vegas or will have a car- you have to go to Freed’s (http://www.freedsbakery.com/). They sell wedding cake by the slice and none of the overly exotic flavored cupcake bakery stuff, just cake at its finest. And sometimes if you’re extra sweet and smiley to the guy behind the counter he’ll give you free cookies!! :D
Vegas is going to be cray cray this weekend, just from the bloggers alone!

Reply

KRISTEN!! Thanks so so much for your recommendation! That looks incredible….I LOVE wedding cake!! I will be wearing my biggest smile ever. Thanks so much!

Reply

Reply

Nope…the half! The full was full ha! What about you?

Reply

I have some band nerd shirts and volleyball stuff that I still work out in. Some of it may be a little on the ratty end but I can’t bring myself to throw it away if it’s not riddled with holes. I wish I was going to Vegas with you and all of the other lovely bloggy ladies! Next year it’s on!

Reply

I am holding you to this for next year:) Don’t throw them away…such good memories!

Reply

EVERYONE IS GOING TO THE RACE IN VEGAS and I am so freaking jealous!!! please send me some cupcakes. okthanksbyeloveyou.

Katelyn, come on….just fly across the nation and miss all of your classes and come to Vegas:)

Reply

Love this! You make me feel so normal. We did a staycation when we did our first half marathon in Taiwan, lots of our friends came to our town to run it so we were able to show the town to them. My first runcation was the st. George marathon, my parents, SIS, hubs and baby came and we made a weekend out of it and loved it! I think its time I went a little further than a four hour drive though… Good luck in Vegas!

Reply

TAIWAN…okay, I am SO jealous! Can I come visit? What did you think of the St. George marathon…trying to decide if I want to run it next year! PS when are we going to go to froyo together?

Reply

Hopefully we will be moving back to Taiwan in a year and you should do the half with me and the great wall of China marathon. That would be a serious runcation. And awesome. St George was great! I would do it every year for the rest of my life…I say go for it. Let’s get yogart when you get back. Have fun in Vegas… Love that place.

Reply

My co-workers make fun of me for a RUNvacation! Great topic! After I started running/racing, I totally think about how to coordinate travels with races. ;)

Throwaways WILL be needed. It’s gonna be a chilly start at 5:30 p.m.

Reply

THANKS JESS for the throwaway reminder…why so cold Vegas? Didn’t know Jess and I were coming?

Reply

I have not done a runcation per se but my experience at the West Coast Adventure run brought me to a new place. I only moved to the North Island of New Zealand two month ago and have never been to bethells beach . It was immensely beautiful and the surrounding views made the challenge feel like a breeze. At one stage I remember saying “I FEEL LIKE ONE OF THE LOST BOYS FROM PETER PAN” while frolicking through the nature.
I would love to do a 1/2 marathon in California as long as it is on the coast.

I would like you to do a runcation in New Zealand :)

Reply

Seriously, I am coming to do the West Coast Adventure next year with you, the pics were amazing. Let’s do the 1/2 together in Cali too!

Reply

HERE ARE THE DETAILS:

The Speights West Coaster Adventure Run on Saturday November 10th 2012 is one of New Zealand’s most scenic off-road, trail and coastal running events.

There are five distances available: a Full Trail Marathon, 30K, Half Marathon, 13K and 6K with all courses starting and ending at Bethells Beach on Auckland’s West Coast. The marathon can be run as an individual or a 4 person team relay.

Details for 2012 are TBC and we will update them as details become available on the official website.

Lets do a cali 1/2 marathon at the start of the year and finish the year off with this. I really hope I make it home next year sometime if not I will be waiting for you to come visit next November!!!

Reply

All of our vacations are planned around a race, either a running race for me or a cycling race for my husband. That’s the first thing we do when we start talking about a trip, is seeing if there are any races in the area.

I did a runcation to St. George and had a blast.

I want to do a runcation to Paris or Hawaii or something.

Reply

Um….can we go to Paris and Hawaii to run TOGETHER?

Reply

Sure! Just give me 15 years to save up and I’ll be there!

Reply

going on a runcation in april to Boston! I can’t wait!! obviously the race is gonna be awesome but my parents, best friend, and hubby will be there too for a few extra days so it’ll be a fun trip.

vegas is prob the best spot EVER for a runcation :)

Reply

You are going to ROCK BOSTON and I can’t wait to read all about it. You are going to have so much fun with all of your favorite people there with you!

Reply

thanks girl :)

Reply

I did my runcation to Seattle this past weekend. I always visit friends every year near there and I just happened to schedule the visit during the time of the Seattle Marathon. It was great and I plan on doing it again, but to Texas (maybe for the Austin marathon) where I have another friend to spend time with. Have fun in Vegas!

Reply

AHHHH CONGRATS ON YOUR SEATTLE MARATHON!! Seattle is one of my all-time favorite cities. Loved your marathon pictures and good call on getting a massage!

Reply

My first runcation is planned for next September for the Berlin marathon!! I am BEYOND excited.

Reply

WHAT?!?! Okay, I am beyond jealous right now…BERLIN….that is the coolest thing ever. I want to hear all about it!

Reply

I did a runcation to San Diego to do the San Diego RNR Marathon. No clothes from high school. Graduated in ’93 and don’t want to relive those fashion don’ts. Vegas is fun in short spurts. It’s a very ADD type of place. All the noise and lights exhaust me. Have a great race!

Reply

Love runcations. I’d say my fave so far has been D.C. for the Marine Corps Marathon recently. Also Chicago and New Orleans. I love destination races, I think they’re the best way to get the full marathon experience. I’d really like to break the bank and do the Rock n Roll Marathon in Madrid, Spain! Wishful thinking…

Have fun in Vegas…ahh so many good places there to eat. But definitely go to Serendipity and take tons of pics for us to see!!

Reply

I’ve never done a Runcation with friends, but I’d say the best vacations I’ve had were ones that I did nice long training runs on. I went to New Orleans for a weddingt his past spring and squeezed in a 10 mile run and it was a great way to see the city!

Good luck in Vegas! Next year I totally have to jump on that bandwagon!

Reply

Half too!!! Yay! What is ur goal? U R such a speedester! When u off to the expo?

Reply

NYC is my dream runcation!! One day!! :)

Reply

We went on two runcations this year – one to Anaheim for the Disneyland Half Marathon and the other to Banff for a half marathon. I totally love the idea and hope to go on more!
I think I still have some sweatpants for High School… my grad pants.
I wasn’t a huge Vegas fan after we went for New Years in 2008 but this summer we were there for 2 days (passing through) and we had a blast!

Reply

I love runcations. I most recent was this summer to Iceland! have fun in Vegas!!

Reply

haha! all my vacations are suddenly runcations :) shell and i went to the keys in jan. i think that was my all-time fave!

Reply

My family always goes running when we go on vacation. I think my favorite place was in Maui, such a beautiful place to run!

I actually do like Las Vegas a lot but I can’t stay there for more than a few days. It was probably a little more fun when I was single haha :).

Have so much fun!

Reply

I totally want to do runcations!!! Never have, but it would be amazing. :) I have tons of clothes from high school…a few everyday clothes and like old t-shirts/sweatpants. Have a BLAST in Vegas!

Reply

I will be in Vegas the week after your race. Boo! But, I can’t wait to see what the city has to offer! I want a full run down on everywhere you eat so I can get ideas!

Reply

I HAD THAT SWEATSHIRT TOO! I used to love the HCO track jackets. I actually do a few runacations too. I would rather that than a real vacation. lolz.

Reply

I took a runcation to Portland for the marathon and realized why I love runcations so much: No matter how friends you have in the area, you’re totally entitled to rent a room in a fancy hotel the night before your marathon! You need a good night’s rest, you don’t want to inconvenience your hosts by waking up at 3 am, you’ll probably have to pee 5 times during the night, etc. etc. I have a major weakness for nice hotels, so this was an amazing revelation. Runcations scheduled to Napa and San Luis Obispo next spring!
Speaking of fancy hotels, have fun in Vegas!!!

Reply

YOU ARE SO RIGHT!! I love that you pee 5 times during the night too:)

Reply

Have so much fun this weekend!! I wish I was going on a runcation…. would be so FUN!!

Reply

The closes I came was last February. It was the first race John and I ran together. My only second 5k. We went to Myrtle Beach with the family for the weekend. Unfortunately, my family doesn’t get into running/races like I do. All they wanted was a trip to the beach. I hope to run a half marathon in 2012. It would mean alot to have my family really get behind me on that one. It may still be at MB but thats okay. Enjoy your weekend in Vegas.

Reply

When in Vegas, you should definitely check out Serendipity. It’s right in front of Ceasar’s Palace and has the amazing frozen hot chocolate dessert. It’s fabulous!! And there are all different themes on the frozen hot chocolate that I didn’t get to try. AND there are about 400 other desserts on the menu I wanted to try.

GOOD luck in Vegas this weekend!!

Reply

I definitely don’t have any clothes from middle school, but I certainly have some left over from high school, mostly in the form of cardigans… And no runcations for me yet, that would require an income…

Reply

Okay, I totally forgot to mention that you should also try Max Brenner’s Chocolate Restaurant. It’s also at Ceasar’s Palace. The food is amazing and mostly everything comes with something chocolate. The waffle fries had a sprinkle of cayenne pepper and dark chocolate powder. Delicious!!! They also have chocolate in syringes. Just shoot it into your mouth.

Okay, i’ll stop now. Have fun!!

Reply

I have done weekends away that involved races but not more that that. I have never been to Vegas. Hopefully I will be running the Marine Corps marathon next October for my first runcation.
Good Luck this weekend. Have fun!

Reply

That is awesome that you ARE doing Marine Corps next October;) I want to hear all about how your training is going!

Reply

I came to your blog because you always cheer me up….Saturday has left me with an empty space in my heart and I’m thinking a runcation might be a good thing to plan to help me focus on what I love again. Thanks J :-)

Reply

I love runcations. I have two kids ( almost 3), so I try to only go places where they’ll have fun too. So far we’ve taken a long weekend in Park City so I could run the marathon, a long weekend in Pocatello for a half-marathon, St. George for a marathon, and now that we are living in New Zealand we’ve gone lots of places around the country for races – oops I mean sight-seeing.

Reply

WOW!!! Congrats on kid #3 on the way!! That is so exciting. I bet the running in New Zealand is incredible! What did you think of the Park City marathon?

Reply

Thanks for the congrats! Yeah, the scenery in NZ pretty much makes every run incredible( although colder than I like). I loved the Park City marathon. Loads of fun and a great course. Not as many spectators out as the SLC marathon though, and I love running through lots of cheering crowds.

Reply

-Never did a runcation
-I don’t regularly wear any clothes from a long time ago, maybe some old t-shirts that I sleep in. though I did just grab a couple sweaters from my parents’ house from early in college that seem to still fit.
-Never been to Vegas, not a big gambler. Maybe it’s worth seeing a show there?

Reply

I haven’t taken a RUNcation but when I did my half marathon in Philly, I made a list of places I wanted to go on my way home so I’m not sure if that counts or not. Lol.

I do still have some clothing from middle school/elementary school. Limited too <3

Also, my friend bought me a Crumbs cupcake (Pumpkin) during Thanksgiving Break… Teehehheehehe. The day I can swim will be the day it gets devoured. Right now I need calcium. AKA frozen yogurt.

Reply

Since you missed Max Brenners in NY try and get there in Las Vegas for their chocolate pizza. Can relate to the high school clothes–old sports sweats were what I held onto forever, but figured all I need is the yearbook and people need the clothes more.

Reply

Vegas is totally a runcation for me. My husband told me that I should start doing more half marathons in cities other than the one we’re in so that we could travel more. Um, ok, I can totally do that!
I love Vegas, and mostly for the exploring and eating (I’m not much of a gambler). My favorite restaurant there is definitely Craftsteak (which we’ll be going to after the race), but others are Border Grill in Mandalay Bay and any of the places in the Venetian.

Reply

See.you.this.weekend!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! VEGAS IS HERE!!!!!

This is my 3rd runcation :) Looking forward to many more next year! YAY!

Yes I keep clothes fo-eva. I have an issue with that. Could be worse.

Reply

Can you come on Saturday at two to the blogger meet up at the ghirardelli shop?!?

Reply

Yes :) I will be there!! Funnnnnnnn :)

Reply

LOL! I have clothes I wore in the 60’s when I was a kid. But stuff I can still wear now…yes, as far back as the early 80’s! Workout clothes from days long past? You betcha…you saw my award-winning plea for a makeover ;-)

I have never been to Las Vegas. I think I might be overwhelmed!

Reply

My new trainer friend, Mike, has done a marathon in literally every single state in the U.S. And he has made many “runcations” out of his marathons. I want to be like him when I grow up. :)

Reply

I have TONS of soccer tournament shirts from high school still. I can’t part with them, too sentimental :)
I guess I’m on a runcation right now since we’re in FL and I’m running this weekend but when you’re staying with your inlaws I don’t think “vacation” is quite the word…

Reply

How fun! Have fun! Hahah :)

Reply

Have a great time! So jealous that you’re going and running RnRLV. I’ll be in Vegas next weekend – one week too late. Can’t wait to see pics and hear about your adventures.

Oh, and yes, I wore my prom dress recently – 15 years later. Luckily I had good taste and even luckier it still fits!

Reply

I just got back from a Tri-cation! Ironman Cozumel!

My husband and I have been married for 4.5 years, but we called it our Iron-Moon, since it is the first one we have done together!

Enjoy!

Reply

Good luck this weekend! You are going to do great and I hope you have a blast!

Reply

I wish I was awesome enough for a runcation.

And I still have a shirt from when I was, at the oldest, 8. It is waaay oversized (when I first got it, it went below my knees. Now it’s still way too big but, well, not to my knees…), and it is extremely holy, the print on it has worn off (it was a kitten in a hammock with some saying on it), and it’s stained up the wazoo (I believe it has some glitter paint on it). But no way will I be able to get rid of it!

Reply

I LOVE runcations!!! Thus far I have been on runcations to San Francisco, Washington DC, and Virginia Beach. My list of future runcations I will magically find a way to get to on my graduate student stipend includes Big Sur (California), Missoula (Montana), and Mount Desert Island (Maine).

I haven’t been to Vegas before, but I’m sure you will love it and rock the half! Stay healthy and have SO much fun!

Reply

My first marathon was in Rome, Italy. Not only did I have more motivation to train, but I got to see a really amazing city. Runcations are the best way to explore a new place and they give you even more freedom to eat anything that looks delicious while you’re there! I Haven’t been to Vegas myself, but I hope you have a great time! Good luck in the race :)

Reply

Disney races!
I have a ton of old t shirts. I keep saying I am I going to learn how to sew and make a quilt with them.
I have a shirt from 6th grade graduation (1994) I wear it to bed still. It will the centerpiece of the quilt

Reply

Good luck in Vegas!

Reply

Have a great race! I love runcations, or in my case it is usually a trication. :-)
I travel to Cali a lot to race because it’s close and awesome. My first half Ironman was in Henderson NV, it was a good time.
I can’t wait to read all about your trip. I wish I was going, all the bloggers I stalk will be there it would be fun to stalk, um meet them all in person.

Reply

Yeah, it’s the worst when I read comments from my latest post and it takes me 45 minutes…ha ha! I don’t usually keep a lot of old things I absolutely can’t stand clutter so I’m always taking things (even perfectly good things) to the Goodwill. It’s almost a sickness. ;) I do have my old cheer uniform and my drillteam letter jacket, but I’m pretty sure nothing else from highschool. K, have fun in Vegas…keep your nose clean Janae.

Reply

GOOD LUCK!!! I don’t gamble, so vegas isn’t really my scene. I do LOVE the pools!!!

Reply

We went camping in Bryce Canyon, Moab, and then Boston twice for runcations. I love runcations!

Reply

I’m going to win the lottery so I can just runcation 24×7 :)

Reply

I did a runworkcation does that count? I had to go to Toronto for work and extended the weekend so that I could run the half! I wanted to go to Grand Cayman but that did not happen … :(

Reply

… you know college for my daughter is less than a year away, so time to choose where money is spent … hmm education or half marathon – education or half … in one of my favorite places in the world … I guess college won … :( … :)

Reply

I’ve always wanted to do a “runcation”!! I mean, all 3 of the different half marathons I’ve run were in places that required a hotel state, but they were all within like a two hour drive from my school – Richmond, Virginia Beach, and Outer Banks. AND sadly, having been a college kid at the time, there was no sightseeing or beach – going….only speeding back to campus to study for a monday exam or something :( someday I want to run the Big Sur Marathon!! or something on the west coast, I’ve never been farther west than Pittsburgh! (sheltered child, I know)

Reply

I have so many clothes from so long ago that it is ridiculous! I realized that it was getting absurd when I was at the gym the other day, carrying a gym bag that used to be my hs dance bag! Um, that’s like 13 years old….time to move on!

I can handle Vegas in doses–as in a weekend, no more!! I typically love the shows and productions, but the rest of the city isn’t so much my scene :) I am jealous of all you runner gals heading that way though–it’s going to be soooooooooo much fun!!

Reply

I’m so jealous about your weekend- you are going to have a blast! Meeting friends, carbo-loading with ice cream and endorphin high–> what more could you want!

Reply

The farthest I’ve gone for a runcation is the Vegas Ragnar (from UT). One of my friends tried to get me to sign up for a marathon in Washington, but nope- not gonna work. My hubby’s not a runner & doesn’t get the insanity. (Spending $100’s on a trip to run when we can’t afford trips together? Mmmm, nope.)

I still have a shirt from a volleyball camp when I was in high school (21 years ago!!!). My 12-year old now wears it to her volleyball practices. I have NO idea how it’s held up so well.

Reply

youre coming to pick me up in NZ first, right? Haha. Have a blast and hug everyone for me!

Ive never ran on vacations! It sounds like a great idea though!

In 2011, I ran 4 half marathons and all of them were runcations! First I went to Austin where my best friend moved last summer. Then I went to Kansas City to run with my sister in her first half! Then we ran in Fargo, where we have family. Last, I ran in Minneapolis. My parents came to cheer me on and then they, my brother, his girlfriend and myself hit a Twins game before heading up to the lake for a week. Did I mentioned that last on was on the Fourth? Great year for runcations for me!

Reply

I LOVE Las Vegas. The people watching is incredible. They are having a major rodeo there this weekend, so bring your cowboy boots! You should check out Retro Bakery. Their cupcakes are delicious and if you shoot em an email they might send you some over ;)

I am dedicating 2012 to runcationing. So far I have Phoenix in March and Nashville in April. That one is a Rock n Roll and you should come run it!!

Reply

I have not gone on a single runcation, but I DESPERATELY want to do all the Disney running events. I’m really hoping to do the Disneyland Half Marathon in 2012! And by “really hoping” I mean that I’m already planning my outfit for it. It must happen.

Also, I am the worst with clothing. Actually, with most things. I don’t think I would call myself a hoarder, because I don’t keep weird/broken/useless things… but I can’t bear to part with all my high school spirit sweatshirts. Or my stuffed animals. I have the bedroom of a five year old… it’s kind of embarrassing.

Reply

A runcation sounds amazing. Can’t wait to see all your Vegas adventures! :)

Reply

Have a blast! This is my city! I hope you enjoy your time here. There is definitely no shortage of food here that is for sure! The RIO has killer crab legs at their buffet! We love Capos Italian – it is off the strip – but any cab can get you there! Everything is handmade and all the gansters used to eat there – don’t let the outside fool you! YUM

Reply

I have a couple adidas tanks from HS that I can’t throw away. Love them too much.

Food in Vegas? Pancakes from Terrace Point Cafe in the Wynn Hotel. The fluffiest, most delicious pancakes in the whole wide world. There is also a crepe place in the Paris hotel that is mighty generous with the fillings. I had apple pie…so memorable. There is a self-serve fro-yo place in Fashion Show, FYI.

Good Luck!

This is such a fun topic! I’m loving reading about runcations people have done and what they want to do…

This is making me realize I should do one. I have YET to do a race outside NJ. It became apparent to me when hubby says “Does every race you do have to start with the song BORN TO RUN?” And they keep playing it over an over…I guess I never realized it. Yeah, Jersey loves their Bruce…

I’ve never gone somewhere to run and built a vacation around it, but I have gone on vacation and found races to run.

I’ve never been to vegas, but I think I love it anyway.

I usually clean out my closet like twice a year so I don’t even really have any clothes from a few years ago.

Reply

My first Runcation will be in June. There is a 10k on Mackinac Island during Lilac Fest that I made my goal last year (when I started running) to participate in. It’s only about 5 hours from where I live but I wouldn’t be going if it wasn’t for this race so I guess it qualifies as a Runcation!

I have a sweatshirt from my senior year with all the names of the people I graduated with inside the numbers of the year we graduated and I also still have my Varsity jacket. They are both collecting dust in my closet.

I’ve never been to Vegas. I say, eat a little bit of everything! Can’t wait to read all about your weekend!

so fun! My mom and I did a RunCation to Disney World last year to run the Disney Half Marathon – it was her first half marathon ever!! She turned 50 last fall and as a bday present to herself (and an I love my daughter so much present to me) bought us both tickets to Disney and race entries!

Reply

Ha! My friends and I almost always try to incorporate a race into our vacations… Well, more like try to incorporate a vacation into our races. It’s a great way to see new places! I was supposed to run RNR Miami, but decided to pass because of the money. :( But, I have run races in CA, FL, VA, RI, TN and a few others that I can’t remember right now… Good luck in Vegas – You’ll rock it!

Reply

Oh, and when my friends hear I’m going on a trip, they automatically ask “what race are you running?”. Sometimes I have to disappoint them and say we’re just going on vacation, no race.

Reply

I live in New York and traveled home to Oregon for my first marathon. It was great to see my family and friends AND run a marathon!
My next Runaction, as you know :-) is the Red Rock Marathon in March!!!
I like Vegas! It’s fun! I wouldn’t spend more than 5 days there though.

Reply

I soooo want to go on a RUNcation soon!! My last one was back in 2008 when we traveled across the country to run the Disneyland Half Marathon. It was so fun. We did the parks the two days before the race, and then by the time the race came around I was too tired to care about how I did. But it was still super awesome. We should totally do it next year … what are you doing September 1, 2012??? :) :)

Reply

The last runcation I went on was when my bf and I ran the Snow Canyon half, which was amazing and so different from LA! We’re going to Arizona to do the R&R half next month, too. But, even when we just go on normal vacation we always try to run while there. We went on a running tour of Boston over Thanksgiving. Good luck in Vegas!!!!!!!!!! Eat at a few buffets for me :)

My favorite runcation was this time last year, when I went to Hawaii for the XTERRA national trail running championship! It was freaking amazing. I wish I were there right now for this year’s race. Have fun and good luck in Vegas!

I still wear my Docs from 9th grade….they still fit, I keep them nice (and oiled up) and they are great winter boots! nuff said….

Vegas? Fatburger!!! I know it’s a chain, but the only one I’ve been to is the one on the strip in Vegas. Yummo! And the people watching was divine.

I went to Disney and did the Princess Half Marathon. My dream would to be to go to Bermuda and run the Bermuda Half Marathon. Maybe someday:)

I LOVE runcations! My favorites so far have been to Jamaica (Reggae Marathon), Bahamas (Bahamas Marathon), Honolulu (Honolulu Marathon), Colorado (Run Through Time Marathon + skiing) and a cruise where I ran a half marathon on board the ship while it was in the middle of the ocean! Coming up, I am doing the Bermuda Marathon in January :)

I’ve only done a couple of TRI-cations – my first was in Kona, Hawaii for the Lavaman Triathlon – my first Olympic distance triathlon with Team in Training – which was an AMAZING experience – and killer race. My second was the Phuket Triathlon in Thailand, went with a a group of tri-hards and we had another incredible time, sightseeing, training and then racing together – that was longer than an Olympic but shorter than a Half = super humid… I was like the last person to cross the finishline… stands were empty, but at least the ELEPHANT was still there!!! HA!
Loving your time in Vegas — good fun with good peeps! xxxx
