Triple x 10 Tangent Tuesday.

Today is Tuesday and that means that I tell you three random tangents but my mind is on overload right now and I can’t stop at 3 so expect more like 30 tangents.  I hope that is okay with you and if not you can stop reading after third one and I won’t be offended.

1.  I can finally feel my legs again and don’t put off sitting down for the fear of never being able to stand up again.

2.  It is raining like crazy today which means that I can spend the remainder of the day cuddling up with the Milky Ways that my students gave me.  Two of my students absolutely hate Milky Ways and so they sorted through all of their candy from last night and gave them to me as I was walking in this morning.  Best suprise I have gotten since Billy gave me a treadmill.

Photo 9 2

2b.  They also brought me that weird candy stick thingee…I am scared, they say it tastes like jello.  They are now added to my gross candy list.

3.  I ran out of tupperware (aka I didn’t feel like washing my tupperware, no dishwasher in our house) so I brought my salad in a ginormous serving bowl and received at least 3 comments from other faculty members about my high vegetable intake.

4.  My neice needs to learn to keep her bag closer to her….Billy and I may have pickpocketed her candy bag.

Photo 10

5.  Some guy drove his golf cart while he was trick-or-treating with his kids….pure genius.

Photo 9

Taking a non-blurry picture is tough work when the object is moving and I am trying to open a sucker wrapper at the same time.

7.  Cars are not made to fit a girl with pinata horns on her head.

Photo 9 copy

8.  I am getting really nervous for New York.  I haven’t been nervous at all until it hit me at exactly 9:18 a.m that I was going to be running 26.2 miles on SUNDAY.

9.  I haven’t run since Saturday because I was so sore after the half and I am itching for my treadmill run in the morning.  3 days without running….I am getting the shakes……how did I survive 6 months without it?

Tell me some tangents about YOU!!!!

Have you always liked vegetables?  Never liked vegetables? Did you start liking them later on in life?

-I fell in love with them when my sister started an eating program in high school where she ate a lot of them….so my veggie love started at the age of 12.

What is the next run you are looking forward too?

no tangents…..just a question. in just about every photo taken, your sister’s hair looks amazing. does she style it daily or is that waive come naturally?

Reply

I know….she actually has naturally curly hair (I have pin straight hair)! Plus she went to hair school so she is really good at doing it.

Reply

Haha..I was going to ask the same thing! Does she use mousse? Gel? It always has perfectly soft curls…my hair is wavy/curly too, but I get more of the frizzy, kinky curls every time!

Oh don’t worry girls…there’s a vlog on the way. Right Janae? ;-)

Reply

I can’t think of any tangents right now. Except that cleanliness seems to make my dogs and cats vomit.

I have always like fruits and veggies. Just lucky that way I guess.

Half marathon is 11/13. I just want to run it already!

Good luck Sunday!!! You are going to rock it out :)

Reply

Don’t be nervous girl!! Your going to ROCK IT!!!

Reply

Hahahah love all of your photos! Ummm and what kid doesn’t like milky way? Oh well, more for you!

You are going to be fantastic on Sunday! I have no doubt! Just remember to ENJOY each and every second!

This weekend I’m running my second half marathon! I’m a little nervous, but if I keep telling myself to enjoy it and just focus on the view, it will be a BLAST!

Hey Janae!!
I have been reading your blog for awhile now (I found you through my buddy, Jenny Campetelli, in Baltimore). I just started running about two months ago. Ran my first race this past weekend (10k…54:28:09). I have loved reading your blog!
I have already signed up for four more races in the next few months, but the one I am really looking forward to is a 10k in Charleston in March. The Cooper Bridge Run–looks like so much fun!
Good luck this weekend in NYC!

Don’t be nervous, you are going to ROCK the NY marathon!! I am so excited for you!! :D

I’m looking forward to my next run on Thursday! Recovering from injury makes you treasure each one. I smile like a nutter the whole time :)

Reply

I am excited for you too! I want to run a marathon in the worst way. I suppose I should run a 5k first though. Baby steps!

I love all the “normal” veggie. But define normal. I def don’t like brussel sprouts. ;)

Reply

I have never tried a milky way! How is that for a tangent!! I am so excited for your race in NYC! You are going to have so much fun!

Reply

Haha I love the tupperware situation- I don’t have a dishwasher either so that is the story of my life!! I am jealous you have your nieces and nephew to trick or treat with! I was sad not to have an excuse to trick or treat last night :( Running/race nerves are tough but New York will be amazing and you’ll be great!

Reply

We always take the candy that is not wanted and give them away to my co-workers.

Veggies have always been a favorite of mine. My mom never made me eat veggies so when I got older I thought of them as a treat.

Reply

I love veggies now. Used to not care for them. Never have had a thing for fruits thought. :\

Reply

I’m running again tomorrow and am looking forward to it. It always makes me feel better.

I thought all those Milky Ways were fun size but one is full size. You’re so lucky to have sharing kids!

I’ve always loved veggies, but grew up with a mom who always doused them in cheese sauce. While tasty, there’s no need to cover the great taste of veggies on their own. I don’t think I’ve had them with cheese sauce since I left my mom’s house 14 years ago!

Reply

Your sis’s hair is always so darn perfect. Jealous.

The older I get, the more I enjoy veggies!

Last run was a week ago. :( I think I’ve got tendonitis in my ankle-my dr. agrees. It hurts and I am frustrated. I’m supposed to do a half marathon up in beautiful Big Sur, CA but it’s looking like that might not happen. I am SO bummed. What exercises did you do to stay in shape when you couldn’t run?

Reply

The only veggie I don’t like is mushrooms .. is that considered a veggie?

I even love brussels .. I’m a weirdo.

Good luck on Sunday!! Not that you’ll need it ;)

Reply

Yessss I love me some vegetables. I love asparagus, white asparagus specifically, which I had in Germany at a farmer’s dinner (tangent success!)
I’m training for the Boston, but since that’s ages away, the race I’m looking forward to is a 4-mile holiday run next month. I volunteer as a Race Buddy so I love being able to help motivate kids to cross the finish line. Anyway, good luck on your race!

Reply

Oh…where are the other 21 tangents???? I was all psyched for triple x 10.

I would have been a vegetarian at age 7 if steak and hamburgers were also vegetables. And coconut cake.

After this weekend’s 23-miler, I’ll be tapering for my 6th marathon, which I’m hoping to PR.

Wish I lived in/near NYC so I could cheer you on (as you go speeding by).

Reply

I love all of your tangents, as always! ;)

Some tangents here: this rainy, cold weather is making me want to do nothing other than stay curled up on the couch watching Netflix all day long; I’m really excited to eat the chili that is in my CrockPot right now making our house smell amazing; I really need to fold the laundry in the dryer, but I really don’t want to – I hate laundry!; you will do amazing in your NYC marathon!! I’m so flippin’ excited for you!

Reply

Good Luck on Sunday! You will do awesome!

Reply

Oh the guy in the golfcart is hilarious!

You will do great on Saturday! Can’t wait to hear all about it. : )

Reply

those pics are hilarious

Reply

I’ve always loved my veggies!!

You are going to do great on Sunday!! I’ll be cheering you on! (In Chicago of course).

Reply

Don’t stress, you are totally going to rock NYC! Maybe you can bring some of those Milky Ways to nosh on during the race instead of GU ;). I can’t wait to hear about how awesome you did next week!
Why don’t we have cool parents that ride around on Halloween on golf carts? I feel like part of my life is missing!
I’m looking forward to my first marathon in 12 days. The nerves are starting to hit me, but not totally yet. That will probably be the next time I run, I am almost free of my tendonitis (knock on wood!) :)

Reply

My tangent is that I don’t understand how my bosses actually want me to work and function with NY on Sunday. I’m seriously in a pre marathon haze of carbs and imagined glory!

Reply

I have always loved vegetables. Broccoli and bell peppers are my favorite. :)

Reply

Front this tangent rant it seems the race adrenaline is already kicking in! It’s the best feeling in. the. world! Stoked for youuuu!

Reply

I always liked certain veggies when I was a kid and now like alot more now :)

Reply

According to my parents, I’ve always loved veggies. As a little girl, I’d just eat cucumber slices and if anyone had olives, I used to like to stick an olive on each of my fingers and eat them off one by one. What I can say? Pitted olives are the perfect size for little girl fingers?

I’ve just now started looking at races for this year (and might have a 2 5ks left in 2011), but I’m really getting excited for whatever half I decide to do next. I’m really trying to train hard so I can do better and finish stronger than my first one!

You’re going to rock NYC! I know you can’t help but be nervous, but just try to focus on all the hard work you’ve put in training. You’re READY for this. Now, just enjoy it! :)

Reply

I didn’t start liking veggies until about my junior or senior year of high school, and the love for them has been growing ever since. I also haven’t run since my half, but I’m looking forward to a run tomorrow!

Reply

I’ve always liked vegetables. I used to not be a big fan of raw tomatoes, but as an adult, I’ve grown to like them in things. Still have a hard time eating them plain. I decided I’m going to do my 2nd run ever, the 1st weekend in December- a Holiday run.

Reply

I moved from Iowa to Maine when I was 16. I called suckers “suckers” because well that is what they are…unfortunately that is not what they call them in Maine. Lollipops is the right word there which I think is something entirely different than the hard candy sucker. How is that for a tangent on your #5?

Reply

You’re going to do amazing!! And even if you don’t, I’ll STILL think you’re awesome!!

Reply

I must say – I believe your Halloween costume was the most creative, awesome costume ever invented.

I……signed up for that 100 miler coming up next weekend. Gulp. I’m holding you to your promise of being the official sign maker.

I may become a teacher if it has the perk of getting lots of Milky Ways. Serious bonus!

Reply

I’ve always loved veggies! Maybe I liked some more than others, but now I love them all. I remember one Halloween when I was younger I was eating dinner at a friends house and her mom said we had to eat all our veggies before we went trick or treating. Both my friends did not want to eat them so they gave them all to me and I had to eat them all. Haha!

Reply

I’m looking forward to my 2-3 mile run tomorrow morning. Since my stress fracture earlier this year, I cherish every run :)

I didn’t always like veggies. I really only started eating them because of the health benefits. They are the first things I eat on my plate – not only to make me full of the “healthy stuff” but so I can get to the good stuff (chicken/pasta/ice cream) afterwards :)

Reply

omg, your post made me car sick. blurry pictures are funny!
1st: Halloween in your world sounds delicious.
2nd: Don’t sweat NY – you are going to do amazing!!!!!!!! Just hold in all your energy until Sunday :)

My randomness:
1. A kid gave me a melted Butterfinger today and told me that it was melted because I melt his heart. I still don’t know how I feel about that.

2. I started to make an Apple Pie but got stuck after I cut up the apples and put cinnamon and sugar on them. I ate them. So now I just have an empty, uncooked crust sitting in our fridge.

3. I haven’t cut my hair since April. Just imagine your little niece’s hair – and having her not cut it for 7 months.

:)

I sometimes prefer a piece of fruit to dessert and people think I do it for weight reasons. Have they not experienced the power of the perfect summer peach, or the perfect fall apple??

I have not ran since Saturday, and it didn’t hit me till 7:36 pm and now i am itching for a TM run.

If you weren’t nervous it wouldn’t be half as cool. NY will be a.M.a.z.i.n.g! excited for you my friend. :)

Reply

I’m with you on the nervousness, but I’m “just” running 13.1!

And for as long as I can remember I have LOVED green beans! Best. veggie. EVER. I went through a phase where I would NOT eat broccoli (got sick after eating broccoli cheese soup… so nasty), but I’ve gotten over that. Still not a fan of tomatoes, but I love tomato soup.

Reply

you are ready! just enjoy the experience and running. that is all friend. HUGS!!

p.s.
who doesn’t like milky ways?

Reply

The only veggies my mom would make is potatoes, corn, and green beans. Do those even count??? Tangent…. I have been up since 4:30 and need to go to bed.

Reply

If you need tupperware come visit me in Wisconsin….I live in an apartment with 3 girls and we have tupperware up the wahzoo! I swear that stuff multiples every week . We have 3 cupboards full which creates many tupperware avalanches, haha!

Reply

Next run I’m looking forward to is a 10 mile race on Sunday! My first 10 mile race…aaaah!

I never used to like vegetables but now I am known for my salad “beasts” (just like you) :)

Reply

Can’t say I loved veggies growing up, but I have grown to like them. As a kid my parents used to pay me a penny per lima bean if I ate all the lima beans on my plate with dinner. That was a big deal as a 9 year old.

Looking forward to the Philadelphia half marathon on November 20!

Reply

I have liked veggies for as long as I can remember. Well, except for peas and mushrooms, I didn’t like those until college.

I can’t wait to be able to run non-pregnant! My next non-pregnant run is the one I am looking forward to most!

Reply

I ate a Milky Way today, and I thought of you. I understand why you like them so much. Deliciousness!

I’ve always liked vegetables, except for peas. I still don’t like peas, but I can’t think of another vegetable I don’t like.

Reply

I’m sitting here, catching up on blogs and eating a Big Salad, which got me to thinking: have you ever had the Champagne Pear Vinaigrette from Trader Joe’s? It’s my current dressing obsession, and pretty much the best thing I’ve ever eaten.

Reply

Good luck on the marathon Sunday!

I never really used to like vegetables, but lately i’m addicted!

Reply

I love veggies! I always have, too. I was the only freak 5 year old who liked eating lima beans and brussels sprouts. lol

Reply

i’m loving these tangents! have to say that golf cart move was pure daddy geniusness!!

i’ve sort of grown into veggies, it’s not so much that i ever disliked them but growing up i hadn’t eaten that many of them. once i started to expand the variety, i’m like u and love em! :)

Reply

1. Obsessed with pepperoncinis right now. Actually almost anything with “pepper” in it… red peppers, green peppers, GROUND PEPPER.
2. Sour patch kids rock my life @ 1am when im supposed to be finishing a paper
3. Planning Jeopardy! around my workouts is working nicely
4. Craving fro yo
5. Trader Joes egg salad is SO GOOD

Started loving veggies definately later in life. I have always loved corn and fruit tho! I just ate my dinner salad out of a mixing bowl :)

Reply

It is allergy season here, sinus headaches, sneezing, sleepiness, grrrr.
I love all fruit and veg.
I am looking forward to the Irongirl 10k.
Good luck on Sunday, you’ll do great.

Reply

Dont be nervous, J- you are going to smash that marathon….it’s NYC baby, that alone will give you the adrenaline you need :)! A tangent of mine: I’m sick in bed which means my taste is slowly going and I can’t run…although I am grateful that I got in a GREAT run on Monday before this damn bug found me!

Reply

Unfortunately, I am not a Milky Way Lover. There is a similar candy here called Bar One and my husband likes it melted, mixed up and put over vanilla ice cream You should try this with Milky Way, I doubt you will be disappointed.

Tangent about veggies. I love red and yellow bell peppers, but I hate the green ones. I also like raw carrots, but not cooked.

I ran with my running club yesterday and its was glorious. I haven’t been for months, so I am looking forward to going again!

Reply

oooh milky ways are my favorite!! the perks of being the teacher everyone likes, haha :-D I love the golf cart driver too, in my neighborhood a bunch of families get together and put their kids and themselves on a wagon attached to a truck…and the kids can run around to a few houses while the parents chill on the wagon! Although if I ever have kids I’m totally going your route and coming with them to the door in case I’m offered candy!

Ahh I’m so looking forward to my next run tooo, even though it’s going to be like ten minutes long (better than nothing though!)…it’s been exactly four months since I was healthy!! totally know what you mean though, once you can run again you’re like “how did I ever live without this??”….I guess that’s how I injured myself a second time hahaha

Reply

Sooo excited for you!! You’re going to do great on Sunday! :) I’ll be rooting for you! Maybe you should wear your pinata hat so I can spot you on T.V.??!! ;)

Looking forward to my LR this a.m. I’m switching my LR to 2day because we are leaving to Vegas for my step-daughter’s wedding this weekend. :)

love ya girl!! xo

Reply

There was a guy by Mike’s old apartment that would drive all of the kids on the street around in a golf cart to trick or treat. It was awesome!

I like fruit WAY more than vegetables, which is tough considering I’m a vegetarian.

Reply

I have always loved veggies! I was a vegetarian from age 9 for about ten years as I hated how overcooked the meat was my mum used to make. Seriously, it was like leather.
I have never taken part in an event/race as tend to run more for the mental side of having a time out from everything. I guess you can get that when racing too, but it always seems like so much effort (!) when everyday I just step out my door and away I go. So the next run I am looking forward to is in 6 hours time :)

Reply

You are sosososososo lucky to be running in NYC. I’ve lived her for 5 years and have yet to win the lottery, but next year they have to accept me and I can’t wait! Good luck this weekend, what a great way to see this amazing city!

Reply

Your posts crack me up!

I tolerated veggies for most of my life but didn’t really begin to value and need them until my mid-twenties. There are more to veggies than just salads. I’m a vegetarian now.

My next race is the Philadelphia Marathon !!!!! My first marathon. So nervous!

Reply

Ive always been a veggie freak! When i was little my skin was a nice orange hue from all the carrots i consumed.

Reply

YAY! Tangent Tuesday is my favorite…but today I’m just going to call it Tangent Thursday, since I”m a bit late reading ;)
Don’t you even stress/ worry one bit about the marathon. I know without a doubt that you are going to ROCK it. I know it might be kind of (or very) intimidating right now, but just wait until you are standing at the start line with a bunch of other runners- you will just get that AWESOME adenaline flowing!! :D & just remember when you get to the finish line there is a TON of food waiting for you…I’m sure you could even request some Swedish Fish waiting for you ;)
