The amazing BlueEyedBarbie nominated me for the ‘Tell Me About Yourself’ award.  Clearly this is going to be really hard because I don’t really like talking about myself on the blog;)  Basically, you are just supposed to say 7 random things about yourself.  Me=random.  This is going to be fun.

1.  I am the youngest of 5 kiddos.  They are all my best friends and I am stil mad at the ones that moved away from me.

I am absolutely positive that they stole all of the smart genes and there just wasn’t any left for me by the time I came around.

Anderson

2.  I still absolutely love Dashboard Confessionals.  I know that was so ten years ago and I should probably stop listening to ‘Again I go Unnoticed’ (my favorite) on repeat for an hour straight.

B, his bro and I at a Dashboard concert.  Billy, what are you looking at?

N17825363 33969675 3742

3.  I used to have blondish hair.  Because of the fact that I refuse to sit in a salon chair for longer than 8 minutes because I have no patience, it will never be blonde or any other color besides brown again.

N89800085 30447477 5252

4.  People send me pictures of their candy and desserts all of the time.  They even tag me on facebook with their candy pictures. it makes me incredibly happy and I run to the nearest supermarket to get some for myself.

5.  If it wasn’t for Billy and his responsibillness….any extra cent that we make would be spent on traveling and nothing would ever make it into savings.  I count down the hours until our next adventure and would go every weekend if I could.

6.  I am really excited for our upcoming Thanksgiving morning football game in California so I can show off my awesome awkward athleticism.

7.  Although, I am way more excited for tummy time after Thanksgiving dinner with my SIL and MIL.

IMG 1870

I tag EVERYONE that wants to do ‘7 Things’ because it is fun talking about yourself;)

———————————————————————

1.  What do you/would you spend every dime you had on?  Traveling?  Clothes?  Furniture?  Something else?

2.  Have you ever colored your hair somehting that is a lot different than your natural hair color?

3.  Does your family have any Thanksgiving morning traditions?

-Football and I am trying to put together an awesome 5k run/bike ride for everyone!

If I didn’t have to save, I think I’d spend all of my money on new clothes…mostly since I haven’t bought any in years!

I used to highlight my hair to a lighter shade of blonde. Now I just have pink highlights.

Mike and I are starting our own Thanksgiving tradition of running the Turkey Trot every year.

That picture of you catching the football hurts my wrist to look at :)

Travelling and clothes! But my husband is a banker and keeps me “on track”. haha
I have being dying my hair for 15 years and not sure its real color but I think I keep it fairly close now – but used to be blonde too. And I agree too much up keep there!

Reply

I have always had brown hair! I refuse to dye it…to much work! Haha :D

Reply

haha so fun!! I still love Dashboard Confessional too! :-P I would never have the patience to dye my hair either, ugh. so not worth it. although I’m already blonde so I don’t really know what color I’d dye it…and I totally wis my family was one of those families that played football on Thanksgiving!! Ours is too lame for that :( maybe I’ll have to instigate it this year…

Billy and his bro look SO similar, but I’ll be real — you and your sibs look hardly alike. Except you and your sis. Maybe it’s a boy-boy-boy girl-girl thing! My sister and I look soooo alike though it’s cray

Here’s my 7 Things :-)
1) From preschool to third grade I went to a full emersion French School. We only had English for 30 mins a day!
2) I’m an only child
3) I’m pretty bad at cooking, but enjoy cooking… doesn’t really go together…
4) I love sushi. If I had lots of money I would probably eat it at least 3 times a week!
5) I hate humidity with a passion.
6) I don’t have/want a kindle or ipad. I love reading actual books and magazine. Turning a “real” page…
7) I was vegan for a year.

Happy Friday Janae!!!

I used to highlight my hair but it got too annoying so now it is just brown. I like your hair brown :)

Reply

I would spend all of my monies on bike/outdoor/workout gear and coffee…which I come pretty close to doing anyway.

Natural color? What’s that? I’m pretty sure mine is brown, but I’m not confident on the shade. I dye my hair every few months, but always out of the box, so it stays pretty cheap…but not exactly healthy for my hair.

Traveling!!!! Yes!!!! I love traveling…even with my kids :)
I’ve been red and blonde, but I am naturally brown…well, grey at this point :P
We don’t have any Thanksgiving morning family traditions… but I will be running a Turkey Trot!
My husband is the youngest of 5, too. And like you, he is the best-looking in the bunch :)

I am totally with you on spending every cent on traveling. We don’t take nothing with us but our souls, so spend what you can making memories and leave with a rich and weary soul.

Concert and play tickets is my next vice. I am a ticket snob, and need to be up close. 2nd row Wicked, 5th row Rock of Ages, and 1st row, Roger Waters The Wall all recently purchased through advanced sales. I was one click away from 8th row Shrek The Musical but refrained after consulting with ground control who reeled me in.

I was tagged for the Seven things a while back and its still on my ‘to blog list.’ I am not sure I have as many smiling pictures as you do, mine are grim with permanent red eye. In the words of your dashboard buds, I hope you’re as happy as you’re pretending.

By the way, Kit-kats are perfect long run race fuel. Try it.

Traveling. Running shoes. And iPods. Can you have too much of any of that?
I wanted brown once and it came out red. Sorry ginger’s, I HATED it.
Thanksgiving morning I go for a run, the neighbors come over for Bloody Mary’s and we watch the dog show. Then dinner.

You look great as a brunette or blonde which is more than I can say for myself. I did blonde for a few years and aside from it being too expensive of a habit to keep up my jet black eyebrows just made it look horrible. I also went through a phase where I dyed my hair black/brown with a fat bleach strip in the front. I’ve also done a purple strip in the back. I was addicted to the bottle for a while. haha. But now I’m all natural which leaves more money for race entries :) haha.

I would spend every last dime I had on airfare. To visit home mostly.

No real traditions but I want to make a Turkey Trot a tradition. They make eating more at dinner more justifiable.

Reply

I still have all of my dashboard CD’s…I was so cool in college I would drive around listening to the saddest of dashboard songs boo-hooing over some dumb boy! “You have stolen my heart”…haha!

If you do any meet-ups while you’re in SoCal let me know!

Reply

I had hot pink highlights in my (jet black) hair for awhile. I think I was the bane of every parents existence. Little girls would see me and shout “pink hair! Awesome! I want it!” I also had the underside of my hair purple. :)

I would spend every spare dime traveling and seeing all the theatre I could. And traveling to different races! :) I’m doing my first Turkey Trot this year and even though it’s in my city and I’m doing it by myself, Im pretty exciting!

Soft-serve ice cream and traveling all over…or starting my own business..

We do an 8am 5k.

I love that you’re the youngest of 5! I’m the youngest of 3. And I used to listen to Dashboard Confessionals ALL THE TIME. On CD. Yep. I’m old.

and i’m the youngest of 4! all boys too! i knew we all could relate.
:)

Hey Janae! I finished that 100 miler I was telling you about this past weekend. (I put a review at http://www.fastcory.com/2011/11/javelina-jundred-race-review-my-first.html ) .

I’m glad you encouraged me to sign up. And it makes me so happy to know someone who loves candy as much as I do!

i’m so weird, i get sucked into just buying dumb impulse buys all the time. i’ll walk past the $5 movie bin and get sucked in, t-shirts, even walking past the disney store i get hankerings for the stuffed animals. i’d prolly nickel and dime myself to the poor house! :P well, that and my food bills…no joke there.

Reply

Aww I love this post and your 7 things! I colored my hair a really dark brown … almost black one time. I looked gothic. Not a good look for me! ;) But once I added a few highlights and it was a lighter brown, I liked it. I think I might become a brunette again in the upcoming year! :)

Reply

i know this is random…BUT you should create a top posts page…i say this because I bookmarked a couple of your posts that i always turn to for inspiration (why i started running, cookies and self worth, etc.) and find myself looking through archives to find more like it! of course, i don’t know if that would be too difficult to get set up just a suggestion! you are my inspiration

Oh Melissa that is a great idea! Thank you so so much! It will be up this weekend!

1. Most of my money is spent on groceries! We are a family of 5.
2. Used to highlight my hair, and too expensive. Plus I have to feed my hungry hubby and 3 kids.
3. We run the Turkey Trot, which probably equates to a small sliver of pie. Oh well. Better than no workout at all!

Random thing….I HATE wearing rings and rarely wear my wedding ring. Wish they made a Wedding Necklace or Earrings or something.

Reply

I have pink hair as we speak. Volunteering at my daughters school got me this look. Traveling for sure, especially to out of town races. and Turkey Trot in Detroit every year for us!!!!!!!/Users/bainjeffery/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Previews/2011/11/10/20111110-185004/IMG_0064.jpg

That #5 picture… Seattle… I cannot think of the name of the restaurant you’re in but it is above pub called Maggie Bluffs on Elliott Bay… am I right?

I love travelling too… all my money would go there for sure!

I like you as a brunette so much better… a beautiful brunette, actually. :)

Reply

I have actually never colored my hair and probably never will! I have strawberry blonde hair with a lot of natural highlights and I’ve actually been told by complete strangers (typically old women in grocery check out lines) that it would be a crime to color my hair… no pressure.

Reply

lol I am the opposite of you – went dark /w the hair and it was an epic fail. I am growing my highlights out b/c I love my brown natural hair.

I would spend all my money on going to live in hawaii and never return.

Reply

My family does a football game every Thanksgiving Day and of course because we are from Utah it’s called the BEEHIVE BOWL, love your awkward footbal pic…perfect. Tummy time looks miserable, reminds me of how full and gross I feel every year, hopefully not this year. :)

Cheers.

1st things 1st… I miss you!!!

2nd things 2nd… That’s my baby (who’s now 5 years old), and I happened to love the blond and the extensions that you use to have.

3rd things 3rd… Money? Never heard of it, here in Hawaii we still go with the barter system: 7 cows for 1 wife, 2 coconuts for 1 bra.

4th things 4th.. Sorry still virgin hair here, (at least I can say that about something)… Yes, baby #3 is on it’s way through the birth control and all, guess it was really meant to be. For the next 7 months I will live my life vicariously through your blog while I lay in bed barfing my brains out. Please tell your sister that the first thing I thought of when I found out was, “It’s not the end of the world, Janae’s sister has three kids and she’s in awesome shape, I can be like her!” Did a 30k when I was 6 weeks prego (before I realized I was prego), but I’m afraid my December marathon is going to have to be put on hold :-(

5th things 5th… Thanksgiving traditions: Hit the beach!!!

Reply

1. Probably clothes ad traveling!! I just love to shop its a probem
2. This spring my hair war bright blonde… And it’s still a little blonde… But I’m trying to go darker!
3. Turkey trot 4 mile run!!!!!

Reply

I would hire a personal shopper b/c I like wearing new/stylish stuff I just hate the whole “shopping” part of it and I would travel! I’m addicted to traveling but have a hubby that doesn’t necessarily feel the same way. I’ve already told him if my passport is not being stamped for my upcoming 30th, he can expect divorce papers (kidding, kind of) ;)

I am terrible with saving money. Buuuttt I am dying to travel the world so if I could actually save money, I’d love to put it towards that! I used to be bleach blonde and now I’m dark brunette for the first time in my lifeee! I definitely like not having to sit in a chair for hours and spending a ton of money :) I’m doing a 5k on Thanksgiving!

Reply

It’s so crazy to see people with different colored hair. Blond looks good on you!
I once colored mine black and I looked way too goth. Not a good look.

Reply

I completely love dashboard!! Went to a concert in college to fulfill my high school dream :) screaming infidelities takes me back to the emo teen I was hahaha

Reply

In that candy picture, I am drawn to the Swedish fish and the gummy peaches. Yum.
1. We’re pretty good at saving money and living pretty cheaply…getting married when we were both grad students did that to us. I can’t wait for hubby to finish grad school and we will have TWO incomes and can plan some traveling.
2. Only highlighted my hair, never did a full dye. That was over 5 yrs ago though. I know, I’m pretty exciting.
3. No traditions…some years we have seen both of our parents, some years we have boycotted driving in Thanksgiving weekend traffic and done our own thing.

Reply

I love Dashboard Confessional, I need to listen to him.

And my hair has been every color, my favorite was black with green and blue streaks but now I keep it brown.

Reply

I went through a blonde phase a few years back. At the time I thought I was hot sh1t, now I want to cry when i see photos!! Love your Thanksgiving tradition- I can totally see you tearing everyone else down :)

Traveling!!! We take a huge cruise vacay annually, but that just isn’t enough. I also have an addiction to designer jeans…
I actually darken my hair…to blonde. My natural color is practically white it’s so light in color. It’s a process, but it looks bad bring white on a 20-something.
I run a 1/2 marathon every T-Giving then follow it up with some bootcamp moves. I have to do all that before 9am b/c I must watch the Macy’s Parade while I do ALL the cooking!!

Reply

Oh man! Back in my dancing/cheerleading days, they would dye my hair every color under the sun! It totally depended on what was trendy at the time, and by the time I quit dancing pro, my hair was seriously like straw from the constant chemical. I haven’t dyed it since! :)

Reply

Travelling for sure!! Lol The pic looks like it was taken on a royal Caribbean cruise in the restaurant! Is it? If so what cruise did you do?

That candy stash looks amazing!

1. I’d spend a ton of money on an awesome house and save enough so I didn’t have to work ever again!

2. I went blonde before and hated it! The light color just didn’t work well with my skin tone.

3. No Thanksgiving morning traditions yet!

Good luck with the family 5k you’re putting together–sounds like fun!

Reply

Aww, love that picture of you & your siblings :)
I LOVE Dashboard too!!! I have one of their CDs in my car RIGHT now!
I can’t wait for Thanksgiving- especially the Macy’s parade.
If I didn’t have to worry about saving money I would spend WAY too much on clothes..and shoes- Jessica Simpson shoes- those are my favorite.
Hope you have a good weekend!! Xo

I love this idea of a post. I can totally relate to you about the hair salon thing. I attempted to try to lighten my almost natural black hair colour in the salon last week and after sitting for 3.5 hours (are you kidding me?), all that I could think about is “Do you know how far I could run in this time?” :)

Reply

What a fun post!!

I am number 4 of 10 kiddos, and they are all smartie pants too! I try :) I am a travel girl too–totally love it!

Reply

I’ve spend every dime I have on doctors appointments, unfortunately.
Or good peanut butter.

Thanksgiving morning tradition = cook & Thanksgiving Day Parade in my jammies.

Reply

If I didn’t have to save any money I would spend it on traveling for sure. There are so many fun places around the world that I would love to go see for myself and take my family there someday too!

My natural hair color is what you see = black (some people say there is no such thing as black hair and only dark dark brown). Either way I have never done anything drastic just b/c I love being a brunette… although I might should consider it now since I am getting some (ok a lot) of gray hairs.

Thanksgiving morning we just usually chill in our pj’s and all start prepping the feast!

Reply

First of all, you’re totally one of my favorite bloggers. :) I have a pile of candy I wish I could give to you. :( Because I, unlike you, would go into a sugar coma if I ate it all. Sigh.

You are so sweet! I will definitely help you take care of that candy:)

Travel, Travel, Travel!!

Traveling has taught me so much about myself {i’m a little less patient than i thought…. i enjoy spending time alone… I am stronger and more adventurous than I ever imagined… etc.}

Traveling has also shown me the beauty of humanity through the diversity of its cultures and landscapes in which we all live. So amazing! =)

Reply

I would totally spend extra money on travel, and stuff for our house… love playing around with house stuff & my hubby still needs to travel internationally, he hasn’t even been to Canada (he’s seen it, when we’re in Detroit you can see it across the river, but he’s never been there).

I have brown hair that’s similar to yours in color. One time I colored it with highlights & fire-engine RED highlights as well… it was hot! I loved it :)

Last year my hubby & I ran a 5K, and said we’d do it every year, but this year it has to be just me because he has to work the night shift that night before Thanksgiving & probably wont even be home by the time the race is starting. Boo!

Reply

Are you going near the LA area? Anytime you are near Sacramento, let me know.

Reply

I would spend my money on traveling. I absolutely love it, especially visiting places that I’ve never been before. I’ve had almost every color of hair, that is what happens when your older sister is a hair stylist. I always went back and forth between blonde and brunette. About 5 years ago, I stopped highlighting because I have so much hair and it takes forever at the salon and my hair grows really fast (can’t stand roots). So I will remain a brunette until I get older and start to grey. Then I will probably go back to blonde to hide the grey. Thanksgiving is spent watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Then we have lunch and play games the rest of the day.

Reply

I get to meet you soon! SOOOOO excited! Just thought i’d let you know haha
