Billy’s Big Test and Brain Food

We went to Costco last night with 2 missions to accomplish.

1.  Billy had to get a passport picture for when he takes the LSAT this morning (say a lil’ prayer for him mkay?)

a.)  They wouldn’t let him smile in the photo.  He looks pretty hardcore in his pic.

Photo 4

2.)  More importantly…….to pick up brain food.

Photo 2

The best part about this pizza is you can only fit one slice of it on your plate at a time.  None of this weeksauce thincrust/light cheese/2 pepperonis per slice stuff.  I added on some garden tomatoes that were amazing.

IMG 9958

Somehow I only got a few of those thousand pepperonis.

All she had to say was, ‘Nae my favorite aunt’ to get her treat.

Please note the bbq sauce and ranch:  place them side by side on your plate and dip away.IMG 9960

I feel like over the last few months I have really grown up and maybe even become a little less selfish.  She gave me those puppy dog eyes and I knew I had to share my ice cream.

My mom had to get a picture because she couldn’t actually believe what she was witnessing.  I have yet to share my ice cream with Billy.  Baby steps, baby steps.

IMG 9963

The sis and I are out running.  The leaves are changing and the temps are perfect, I feel pretty good about this.

Wish Billster some good luck por favor!

—————————————————————————

What did you have for dinner last night?

I have a trillion tomatoes that my mom gave me….what should I do with them?  Any good recipes?

What is your Saturday morning workout?  Did you sleep in or wake up early today?

-We are waking up at about 7 to head out so just a little bit more sleep than usual:)

Depending on the size of the tomatoes, you could try making stuffed tomatoes!

I didn’t workout today. I ran 11 hilly miles yesterday and I’m pooped! LOL.

What an Exciting day for Billy!

I had roasted chicken, roasted potatoes, and peas…with pumpkin bread and vanilla ice cream for dessert. YUM!

I’m about to head out on the first long run of my 10mile training plan!! I’m excited but it looks awfully stormy out right now so I hope I’m not about to get soaked.

Hope you have a good run with your sister!!

Gooood luck Billster :)! I had a great dinner last night! My friend and I went to Le Pain Quotidien for dinner and shared an Asian salad with smoked Salmon and a pumpkin, green bean and chevre salad! Before you think we’re all holy and shiz, you KNOW there was a lot of warm, crusty bread and hazelnut chocolate spread involved :)!—> my idea of a balanced meal!

My workout was great this morning: 2.5 speedy miles followed by ab work! I wanted to run for longer but I’m trying to ‘obey’ my schedule so I stopped! Hope you’re run is fab!

Oh and as for tomatoes: you can’t beat marinara sauce….in fact make a boat load and then freeze it for future use!

Praying for Billy this morning!!!

Woke up early – hubby is still sleeping! That’s a 1st! Went to see Contagion last night – SO GOOD! Y’all gotta go see it! You so have to roast some of those tomatoes…with this recipe….its SO good…yu can mix them up with pasta, smear them on bread, eat them just as they are and blend them up after for a pasta sauce.

Costco pizza is AWESOME, and it’s way cheaper than takeout!
Last night I felt guilty do having so much produce and not eating it that I made a sweet potato, ‘grilled’ eggplant, cut up watermelon, and had some pasta. Weirdest meal ever. Haha.

Ah, I’m so glad you’re out for a run. The weather is SO beautiful today!!! I’m currently in bed trying to decide if I should get up..ehhhhhh, maybe maybe not, ha.

Oh and random, but did you know that in celebration of the first day of October, Dairy Queen now had PUMPKIN PIE BLIZZARDS. Post-run celebratory treat? Yes.

Mmm, I love take and bake pizzas because I put all the pepperoni’s on Andy’s side, add tomatoes, broccoli, onions, and red peppers to my side, and bake! So good!

Your hair is super cute all wavy like that!

Dinner last night was random: eggs with cheese, an apple, and popcorn. It was a night spent on the couch watching Netflix!

Make homemade spaghetti sauce with your tomatoes!

Saturday morning workout isn’t happening because I woke up late, baked pumpkin muffins, and now we’re going cake tasting for wedding cakes! However, Andy and I are going on a bike ride later tonight!

Good luck to Billy, not that he needs it because he comes across as super-intelligent anyway!

I had a conservatively-paced run this morning – tight/sore right hamstring and I don’t want it to act up even more! It’s scorchio (or our version of it) in the UK though.

Definitely good luck. I remember when I took the MCAT – I was like shaking. I hate standardized tests. I am sure it will be the same way with the USMLE just hopefully I can feel more confident. Billy seems smart though and very diligent about studying – I’m sure he will ace it.

GOOD LUCK, BILLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
QUESTION: why do you have to take a passport picture for the LSATs?

1. My in-laws are in town visiting so we went out to discover a new place to eat. YUM! I had a shrimp po’boy on the patio overlooking the lake….awesome.

2. tomato sauce is my go-to thing to make when i have extra tomatoes. OR you can make your own salsa…. super easy. check out some recipes on pintrest.com … you are sure to find something on there.

3. I treated myself and slept in :)

Happy weekend and I can’t wait to hear how B-dawg did on his test!

GOOD LUCK TO BILLY!!!!

I love the changing leaves too! It really gives you something to look at as you are running. Today, I actually let myself sleep in, wake up, get some coffee, eat some toasted one buns, read some blogs, and then go for my run. I know, weird right? It’s just that kind of day!

I went tomato crazy in August! I had SO many I didn’t know what to do with them. I ended up making these delicious meals:

Good luck B! My favorite marinara sauce is super easy, you just saute an onion and garlic in some olive oil til clear, add in some basil, rosemary and oregano (1T ea) and then throw in whole tomatoes, 1t salt and a 1/2 c water. Cook for about 20 mins and then mash tomatoes a bit with a fork or potato masher and cook for another hour. After its nice and cooked down let it cool then throw in a blender and pulse til a little blended but chunks remain. Freezes well too.

Reply

Good luck Billy! (I’m sure you’ll rock it!) I wanted pizza so bad yesterday, but I settled on some pasta smothered in tomato sauce, because that’s the only way to do it. ;)
I got up early and ran! This weather is wonderful!

My husband and I had a gift card to Applebees, so that was dinner last night. Then we went to Lion King 3D, AMAZING!!! It is my favorite Disney movie and yes I cried again last night during the movie.

CHILI would be amazing for your tomatoes!!! I came up with my new favorite chili recipe ever AND it’s super healthy and would be good for you and Billster and your active selves :) I used Wilson’s chili seasoning, 2lbs of ground turkey, you could put like 3 or 4 tomatoes in it, a can of tomato sauce, I added a large zucchini, 2c of mushrooms and a diced onion. It would also be amazing to add some of your whole grains in there or a can of beans! Just let it simmer and your bellies will be happy for a long time :)

I just started following you, you are such an insiration! I ran 10 miles down Provo Canyon this morning. It was my longest run so far and I got runners high for the first time. I couldn’t stop smiling I wanted to hug my running partner but I refrained:)

I woke up at 4:50 a for my 5:30 long run. I should have know it wasn’t going to be my day when I faceplanted at mile 11. I gave up at mile 17 and called the sag wag (was supposed to go 20). Cardiowise I was great but my legs and hips were dying. Sitting in my ice bath now trying to distract myself from freezing.

This morning we woke up around 6:45 and did a BodyRock workout, and then I did a 30-min Interval Training treadmill workout I saw off Fit Sugar. ;)

The temps in Houston are FINALLY strting to cool off. So excited! This is the time of year where we’re always outside. ;) Have a wonderful weekend, Janae!

Good luck Billy!!! We all know he will rock the LSAT :)

Last night I had a sushi roll because cooking sounded about as hard as running a marathon at the time…

I haven’t worked out yet, I had to do a work thing first thing this morning, then I had to run errands, then I find out that my husband;s friend he invited over invited other people to our house to hang out. I wasn’t in the mood to be a hostess to people I never plan on seeing again in my life, so I am in my office now. How sad is that?

Good luck Billy!!! I know he is going to kill it. Love your sharing spirit today :-) I hope it lasts through Halloween (my most selfish holiday haha)

We had Sonic, I lost a bet with the kids, blech.
You should make some bruschetta, yummo!
I only ran about 4.5 miles so I slept in and didn’t head out until 7am. I paid for it in sweat, it is hot here today….again. Please send fall to AZ.
Good luck to your husband, how exciting.

i headed out to the bike trail and did a run this morning…thankfully the weather is cooling down here in NorCal finally! :)

okay, sorry in advance for my little Costco random tribute. when i FIRST starting running, the little tradition my parents started was that after each practice i could choose whatever i wanted to get for dinner that night. my choice was always the two mondo costco pizza slices. :)

I”m sure I have already posted it somewhere in webworld, but yesterday I sat and read many of your early blog entries. I have been trying hard to get motivated to gym and yesterday, you did that! So thank you!

I had homemade pizza ;)

And goodluck to your hub!

Good Luck to Billy! I’m sure he’ll be relieved when its over (he’s probably done by now, but you know what I mean)! :)

We had pizza last night too. I tried making deep dish and it ended up having the biggest crust (probably 2 1/2 high and wide)…a little bit of a fail, but it still tasted good! :)

phil and i had fajitas last night……mmmmm! our fave! And we slept in this morning……and had a lazy day too! And right now, we’re continuing with the theme of the day and sitting on our lazy butts in front of the tv :-) (i did squeeze in a 7 mile run but the rest of the day was a lot less mobile!). Tomatoes…..hmmm……ooh howz about a tomato chutney or salsa to add to your salad beasts? or you could make up a huge batch of pizza sauce and freeze for future pizza making sessions :-)

Go Billy!! Hope he kicked some LSAT butt!

I was watching TV with my fahter when he came across a station that was starting a new movie. We waited to see what the movie was and when my fahter saw that it was Billy Jack , he kept it on that channel and told me to get ready for a damn good time . I was not sure what he meant until Tom’s first scene. I stopped breathing. I was awestruck. It was love at first sight. I was 10 (28 now). I sat and watched the movie with my dad hating the commercials. I not only fell in love with Tom but also Delores. She became my secret mentor/idol. I loved her passion for a cause. I loved her non violent heart. I bought my fahter the Billy Jack DVD’s for Christmas this past year. I borrowed them the day after I had given them to him and have yet to return them. I watch them all the time. I don’t watch one. I watch all in a row. Thank you to your parents for setting me on a course that would make my life worth living. I help who I can, I teach who I can, I love who I can, and I pass it on every single day.Current score: 0(Please enable JavaScript to vote.)a0a0(vote for this entry)

I know lots of people who make tomatoe sauce and freeze it. I tend to make Salsa or this last week I made the most amazing Taco STOUP with brown rice using my fresh tomatoes instead of canned. There is always chili too, but Im not sure chili season has hit your neck of the woods!
