Wedding Presents and The Coolest Bike Set-Up

You guys, this peach thing is getting out of control.  Remember when I used to be absolutely addicted to pears….just take that and times it by a trillion with this fall and peaches.

Billy asked me to look at the camera for the picture but I couldn’t take my eyes off of the peaches just to make sure that no one stole one without me noticing.

I think that I have eaten more burgers this summer than I did for the previous ten years and I am more than okay with that.

As if fruit wasn’t already delicious enough, my grandma always brings cool whip to top it with….. I think she knows me a little too well.

Behind the scenes of how our marriage really works:  Billy does the work while I reap the benefits.  So far, it has worked out really well.

The newlyweds just got back from their honeymoon at an all-inclusive resort in Cabo, they absolutely LOVED it.   We got to watch them open presents which reminded me of our wedding gift opening.  Billy knows how much I love opening presents so he let me open up all of them.  Writing it made me realize how ridiculous I am:)

My biggest baking tip that I will ever give you is to always add chocolate chips to any dessert and it will be that much better, especially if there is at least one per bite.  Second tip:  always ALWAYS without even questioning it, add ice cream.

IMG 9302

Random but I thought I would include my aunt’s sweet bike set up.  The bike is hooked up to the computer so you can watch the course on the computer and it will change the gears etc according to the hills.  Plus the leopard carpet has got to help too.

Married/engaged peeps:  Where did you register for your wedding?

-Bed, Bath and Beyond and Crate and Barrel.  I really wished that costco let you register because I would be set for the rest of my life on broccoli and skittles.  I heard Amazon now lets you register….that is awesome!

Have you ever stayed at an all-inclusive resort?  What did you think of it?

-No, but I really want to try it out now that they talked about how awesome it was.

What are your Labor Day plans?

-LONG bike ride with Billy…..pray for no flats, crashes or bums going numb for us okay?

I agree – chocolate chips in every dessert is absolutely necessary. When we got married (almost been 5 yrs ago… crazy!!) we registered at Bed Bath and Beyond, Target and one other place I cannot remember… is that bad?

Reply

we didn’t register because we didn’t have a wedding…we went to city hall and got married with only my parents at witnesses. After my mom told the entire family we got a bunch of checks in the mail – much better than real gifts. I used that money to go clothes shopping :)

As for the all inclusive question, I personally think it sounds like hell on earth. My favorite part of vacation is trying out all the local restaurants and not eating at the hotel every night.

Ah!! Your eyes are intense in the peach photo :) It seems like you and Billy have a good system..

I am just hanging with the famjam this labour day. That cake looks amazing!

Chocolate chips= a necessity…was there every a doubt of that??

I have stayed at an all-inclusive a few times. It can be a lot of fun if you pick the right place. Open buffets with lots of good food (and dessert) are amazing, especially at this resort I stayed at in Mexico where there was lots of fresh fruit and really tasty pastries!

We registered at JC Penny cause we had people all over the country. It actually kind of sucked. But the internet shopping thing hadn’t taken off yet.
We try to stay at All-Inclusives when we travel. We LOVE Club Med and have also stayed at Sandals, but didn’t like it as much.
We were thinking of going to Ikea, about an hour away. But I just realized that HOUSE HUNTERS is on for TWELVE STRAIGHT HOURS. That might win (not really, I DVR’d it all).

My plans were a long bike ride also, but it is raining here. I am a fair weather biker. No sense battling the rain when I am not training for something.

Bed Bath and Beyond and Macys! I, too, loved opening presents – but I have thing with doing it in front of people. So I made my hubs do half of them :)

We went to an all inclusive resort in Aruba. Nothing better than eating and drinking as much as you want, whenever you want :)

Today’s plans – go for a long run! It is finally below 100 degrees!

We registeref at Bed Bath and Beyond & Pier One. Adam loved registering because he got to hold the gun. We’ve never stayed at an all inclusive resort but Adam’s cousin is getting married in Mexico next summer and we are going to try to go. Not sure what we are going to do today, but the weather is much cooler so hopefully it will be outside.

We registered at Target and Linens and Things (no longer in business). One of my favorite gifts that we got was a mattress pad for the bed. Soooo comfy!

Reply

I’m going to register at Crate and Barrel. I’m torn on BBB or Target as the second place! We’ll see!

Reply

I meant to type registered.

We have registered at Dillards and Bed Bath and Beyond for our March wedding! Boy was that so much fun!! I can’t imagine how it’s going to feel having Christmas over and over until it stops at some point with the gifts! I’m a little too excited. We are looking at going to a Couple resort in Jamiaca for the honeymoon. It’s all-inclusive so that prett much makes me excited for “Christmas morning” for another week! I’ll let you know how we like/loved it! :)

That’s a way SAAweeet bike set up:) I was going to ask you what was your first bike purchase? What would you suggest for someone on a budget? Have a great day!!!!

Reply

we registered at crate and barrel, macys and target,w but we found that for a lot of the C&B stuff, target had a cheaper, comparable item that was just as good quality.
of course i tried to register at Nordstrom but JJ wasn’t having it…

Love it! Those peaches look so delicious–nothing like a fresh, juicy peach! mmm.

Married/engaged peeps: Where did you register for your wedding?
Target & Crate + Barrel

Have you ever stayed at an all-inclusive resort? What did you think of it?
Nope! I would absolutely love to, though!

What are your Labor Day plans?
Our new bed is getting delivered today! And i get to sleep in it all by myself until we get married and Andy moves in! For that purpose, I bought purple sheets!

Have you heard of the new registry…www.foodieregistry.com.

We registered for our honeymoon- it was awesome! We got to stay at 2 different hotels, do a bunch of stuff that normally would have been to expensive, ate a bunch of yummy dinners – it was a great idea! ~~ I have stayed at a an all inclusive – not a fan. ‘Im an explorer and like to eat at different places, etc with an all inclusive you are secluded within the resort….

Those peaches look amazing!

I’m going for a run, then shopping with my mom and sister. Have a great Labor Day!

Whip cream makes anything better… My favorite thing in the world is to spoon some PB onto a banana and shot a bunch of whip cream on the top of that. Then repeat for each bite of banana.
I registered at BBandB and Target… I know boring. All we wanted was $ anyway.
I see a run and some car washing in my Labor Day future. Hopefully, followed by shopping and good food as my reward!! :)
And coolest bike/computer hookup ever!

Reply

Ah yes, peaches…one of my greatest loves also!!

We registered for our wedding at Target and Macy’s.

We went to an all-inclusive resort in Cancun for our honeymoon. Best.decision.ever. It was awesome getting to eat and drink as much as we wanted without having to worry about how much we were spending. Especially perfect for a honeymoon because you don’t feel like you need to leave the resort at all.

Labor Day plans: a run, household chores, and dinner with friends.

Reply

I really need to start keeping chocolate chips in my house! I love them cold from the fridge!

Reply

We registered at the same places you did, plus Macy’s. LOVE Crate & Barrel! We went to a resort for our honeymoon that had all inclusive packages, which we did, and I am soooo glad that we went that way. We never had to worry about anything and spent the week walking around without a purse or wallet. I never do that!
Today we are enjoying Labor Day by sleeping in (we didn’t get up till 8am!) and going to a movie later. Just chilling!
Those peaches look absolutely awesome. Enjoy!

How long is LONG??? Hoping it goes well – and when is your bike race?

Omgoodness is that leopard carpet or just a rug?? I LOVE IT! (You should see my room….I think I have over 20 cheetah/leopard print knick knacks lying around…baha) So obviously I got a little excited when I saw that picture :)

p.s. I live in sweet home alabama around the Birmingham area…..you should SO make a trip down here to Clanton sometime…home of the peach! –they have peach everything there! peach watertower, and the best best best peach ice cream– just sayin’!

Reply

is that red velvet? mmmm!!! Also, I feel you on the peach addiction – they are SO GOOD this year! I must admit though, I thought you had special ordered at first glance, because they were stuffed in two amazon boxes!

Reply

We registered at Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Khols, and a local place that carried our china, crystal, and serving pieces.

We went to an all-inclusive resort for our honeymoon and for our vacation this past summer. It is seriously the BEST way to go. We are already planning our vacation for this summer (back to Mexico!) and our five year anniversary trip (Oct 2012) – both all inclusive! I’m so excited!

I’m running today (for the first time in….way too long), going dove hunting, hanging out with family, going grocery shopping, and cooking!

Happy Labor Day, Janae! We are taking advantage of a gorgeous day here with a bike ride and a picnic. :)

Reply

I’ve never stayed in an all-inclusive resort, but I think it would be fun one day!

Reply

We stayed at an all-inclusive resort in Costa Rica for our honeymoon and I LOVED it. Janae, all-inclusive is totally for you … you can eat whatever you want all day long and not worry about how much it costs! Score! :)

Reply

Do you mind me asking which resort you were at?! I’m dying to go to costa rica!!

Reply

Not at all! :) We stayed at “Lost Suenos Marriott.” It was amazing. Great food, great service. We did zip lining and a hike through the rainforest (to an amazing waterfall) OFF the resort, but everything else we did was on site.

I’m not trying to promote my blog whatsoever, but I did just post about our trip to Costa Rica twice the last couple of weeks. Just type “Costa Rica” into the search box, and you should be able to see some pictures!

Thanks so much Kristen! Your blog is adorable!

Oh man, I just read in our local paper about a couple who had ALL of their wedding gifts/cards stolen from their reception (which they valued at about $10,000) :(
I have never stayed at an all-inclusive, but have been several times to Mexico, and recently to Puerto Rico. I like going outside the resort, and am not much of a drinker, so I have never used an all-inclusive resort. But I have heard people who like them, especially for the food and drink, if they are a bit hesitant about exploring the area, or just want to relax by the pool or beach there.
Our Labor Day plans are going to pick blackberries, grill up some turkey burgers and make a blackberry pie or cobbler. Yum!

Reply

oh yummy peaches! Fruit salad. ahhhh- thats the life. I can live off of fruit and I’d be the happiest person in the world.
Labor Day plans: homework (it never seems to end!)

Have a great bike ride!!

Reply

We registered at REI and got a tent and sleeping pads from our guests!

Reply

I totally agree with reaping the benefits ;)

Reply

I ran this morning and am now spending the afternoon with Luke in Starbucks… obviously reading blogs. But let’s talk about YOUR HAIR. It looks GORGEOUS in those photos. The peaches are makin it all shiny n stuff, for sure.

Reply

Okay, this isn’t an answer to one of your questions, but I noticed you got to eat the remnants of the cake in the pan. Holy schmoly! That’s the best!! :) It’s moist, it’s crumbly, its soooo yummbly! :D

Reply

OMG, so jealous of your peach haul! Have you ever had them grilled on the BBQ? Delicious!

I got married in April, but didn’t register because it was a destination and we didn’t want to seem greedy and more honestly, I really couldn’t stand the idea of doing it!

Reply

We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Macy’s, nothing too exciting. Mike let me open all of the presents too :).

My labor day plans were to race a 20k and then lounge. I did just that :).

Reply

I think you’re right on target with the whole adding chocolate chips to dessert thang. Good choice! Cool whip also makes every fruit better!

Reply

Choc chips ARE amazing in any dessert + ice cream. My kind of idea!!

Love the bike set-up–very cool!

We went to an all-inclusive in Mexico and LOVED it for our honeymoon!!

Reply

I’ve never been a huge peach person but those look awesome!! Also, your hair looks so pretty in those pics, let’s trade, please!!

I’m not engaged yet so I don’t know where I’d register at…seems like Target is always one of the most popular choices!

Reply

never registered….we eloped :)

nope. we rented a beach house in hawaii and it was WAY better

labour day has been great; ran, roasted marshmallows in my backyard and making baked spaghetti YUM

PS: I LOVE your hair in the peach pictures. It has such a beautiful natural wave in it. You are so gorgeous!

Reply

Your family is just so much fun!! Love the bike set up idea, that is just pure genius!

Reply

We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond, Target and JC Penney. I think getting gift cards was my favorite though…so we could get whatever we wanted and hadn’t thought to put on/had been too embarrassed to put on the registry.

We haven’t been to an all inclusive before, but would love to someday!

Reply

I’m not engaged or married, but I would probably register at Bed Bath & Beyond, REI, and Uncommon Goods (seriously awesome stuff there).

I’ve wanted to try an all inclusive resort for years. It sounds like the ultimate relaxation time. As much as I love the hunt, sometimes it’s nice just to have it all laid out for you!

Reply

We just picked up 10 boxes of peaches and 7 boxes of pairs (and a few boxes of tomatoes) to can next week. We love peaches and pears around here too!

Reply

I LOVE THE LEOPARD CARPET!

Reply

I hope your bike ride goes well! I wish I had all those glorious peaches. Ooh I can taste the juicy goodness!

I registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond and William Sonoma. Loved them both! Most of our wedding presents are now in storage, waiting to be used again when we move back to the states in 2 years. Our Caribbean apartment thankfully came with most kitchen stuff so I didn’t have to pack that. I do miss my KitchenAid already though!

No labor day in St. Maarten. Matt went to school and I was running. Still a great day!

Labor Day plans consisted of laying on the beach AND eating my body weight in cereal.. 4 bowls of cheerios, 3 bowls of granola, and 3 of oatmeal squares.. all within an hour..something about running makes my appetite sky rocket…

Reply

We registered for our wedding at Bed Bath and Beyond and Target. Between those 2 stores, they have everything covered!

We stayed at an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica for our honeymoon. Now that we’ve done an all-inclusive, there’s no going back…it was awesome!

Labor day consisted of a bike ride (cut short by a flat tire and no repair kit…fail!), and a quick run. Then baking for our dinner plans and cleaning our basement!

Reply

That bike set-up is amazing! I want something like that!

Reply

Haha, wait a second–did you literally go out and buy 2 boxes of peaches??!! That is AWESOME!!! I have no food but I am too tired from our trip yesterday to go to the grocery store. Shameful, I know.

I’ve stayed at an all=inclusive once and it was amazing! They are awesome and relaxing for a few days but after that, I’m usually ready for something different, away from the hotel :)

Reply

I heard that Costco was starting a wedding department?! Maybe they will let you register then?! I loveee Costco and make a weekly trip out there but I can’t imagine buying my wedding dress there haha :P

Reply

I recognize the china in the photo with the burger and fruit! It is Poppies on Blue from Lenox. I chose that as my casual china for my wedding. (ok, wait…WE chose that china for OUR wedding registry). I love dishes/plates/china so I just had to mention that.
