Okay, this is getting a little ridiculous.  Did I really take a picture of myself while receiving laughing gas as my eyes are starting to cross and the dreams of unicorns running through skittle fields are about to begin?

Photo 2 copy

Pretty sure that is drool on my chin and I am okay with that.

Remember how my dentist office has a TV on the ceiling?  Well, today they casually asked if I wanted them to turn on the massage chair……..a massage chair built into the dentist chair?  Not gonna lie, the first half of the day kind of felt like a vacation:  No work, a massage, laying down, laughing gas (okay, not all vacations involve that) and watching The Price is Right.

Long story short, not everything was ‘normal’ (when is anything ever normal with me) during the root canal and I have to go back again for more stuff to be done…….aka if my posts are even more strange and there are even MORE grammatical errors than normal, I can and I will blame it on the Lortab.

You know how people tell you over and over again to not use food as a reward or to help you get over a hard day.  They are crazy sauce.  I think the last time I didn’t use food as a reward was when I wanted a polly pocket instead of an ice cream cone after winning a soccer game twenty years ago.

Photo

So, I went on a hunt for some of my favorite ‘soft foods’ that I am allowed to eat right now.  My favorite noodle and vegetable soup (yes, I ate two cans of it for lunch) and my latest favorite McDonald’s lemonade (they really have perfected their lemonade blend) there was also a delicious greek yogurt that went unpictured….I only have two hands people.

I felt much better after.  Now I just need to hunt down some ice cream, mashed potatoes with ketchup and creamies.

How was YOUR day so far?

Laughing gas fan?  Any funny laughing gas stories?

-Yep, I just need that stuff for every situation that causes me high anxiety.  I am kidding Mom, don’t worry.

Favorite game show?  (If you like them)

-It is a toss up between Wheel of Fortune and Price is Right.   Do you remember the game show ‘Press Your Luck’? Hilarious…no whammies, no whammies, no whammies.  I secretly loved it when they got a whammy.

Where was the last vacation you took?

-California.

Haha, yes my clients do know that rewarding yourself with food is not always the best option…..but I guess to each her own, right? ;) I am a HUGE fan of milkshakes and soft serve after teeth work–you better go find yourself some!

Last vacation : to Breckenridge, Colorado–BEAUTifUL there :)

First, how I am the first to comment on your post?
And second, how in the world did I pull the right answer to the cereal question out of nowhere? Seriously, I didn’t look that up. I just figured it has been around so long and STILL people don’t eat it, so it must be historic or something.
Day is fine, no laughing gas stories. Favorite game show of the past: Press Your Luck. Now its Jeopardy. Or Cash Cab.

The Kidless Kronicles
Wag More, Bark….

I think I OD’ed on laughing gas once because my dentist turned into a cartoon character and his eyeballs were on his chin…….no lie.

I already decided my food rewards for my weekend with the in-laws. Not because they are bad people, but her personality just allows for Z-E-R-O alone time. Do you see a problem with hiding in a closet at midnight with a bowl of cereal ? :)

I loved press your luck as a kid!! I used to watch it with my grandma, lol! I also loved super market sweep!

I am going on vacay to Hawaii next week. I can’t wait!

Reply

janae,
did you know that they still air “press your luck” on game show network, only now it is called “whammy.” exact same show, and i still love it just as much as i did when i was a kid! and “the price is right” is awesome, though i refuse to watch it without bob :(

Laughing gas is fantastic! I love how nothing matters when you are on it.

My last vacation was in April for my honeymoon. But we’re going to San Diego next week for five days. I cannot wait! Already researching restaurants.

Reply

I love that soup! I eat it a lot at work during the winter. Oh yes, I love laughing gas too…haha :)

Reply

Funny, I’ve recently had to spend too many dr’s appts at the lady dr. and I told them they should offer the laughing gas there. It would certainly make that appointment tolerable.

Reply

I love that you took a picture of yourself getting drugged. Nice. Food is always the best reward. I got knocked out for my wisdom teeth and don’t remember this, but apparently argued with the doctor for a full 10 minutes over how many days I would need to take off running.
I ended up sitting on my butt on the couch for the whole week, eating nothing but ice cream and yogurt. So, I guess the doctor won.

mashed potatoes are delish!!!!!!!

Last Vacation: Miami to see the BF’s parents.. and was attacked by a school of jelly fish eeeek! :-D

Feel better soon – I hate hate oral surgery :(

I had laughing gas when I got my wisdom teeth out. I started hysterically crying before it really took effect so I think they gave me extra to shut me up. Apparently I talked about my wonderful trip to Disney for the rest of my time there. :-p

Reply

BAHAHAH I wish you had it on tape….I would love to see you talking all about Disney (except for the crying part:)

Reply

Wow that’s a major VIP dentist office! Ice cream is for sure the best part about dental work!

I love you for taking that first picture! Laughing gas is the best. :)

Question about laughing gas… when you have it are you still aware of the grinding noise/feeling?!

I’m needing to get some work done and I am completely terrified of the grinding sound and feeling – to the point I know I’ll have tears rolling down my cheers the whole time. However, I don’t want to spend the extra money on laughing gas if it doesn’t help with the grinding part…worth it?!

Reply

OH girl…..I am so sorry that you are going to be having to get work done, no fun! For me, laughing gas helps a lot. I feel super calm and relaxed and I keep saying in my head, ‘it’s all good.’ You still hear the grinding etc but you just feel super relaxed! Let me know how it goes!

My favorite game show is Family Feud. I have a great time guessing the right answers and a laugh at some of the crazy responses during Fast Money!!

Why are your pictures always SO hilarious?? :):)

My one and only laughing gas experience (actually I don’t think it even WAS laughing gas but close enough!) = getting my wisdom teeth out when I was 17.

I woke up after the surgery. My dad was there. First thing I ask him? “Should I cry???”. He’s like “Umm I dunno. Do you WANT to cry?” Me: “I don’t know. Maybe I should just cry anyway, just in case.” Dad: “uhhh.. okay…” Me: *bursts into hysterical sobbing*

Then the nurse came in and asked if I wanted some juice. Through my tears, I spluttered ‘y-y-y-y-ye-eeeessss’. She asked if I wanted orange or apple.
“I HATE ORANGE JUICE!!!!!!!!!!! *more tears* DONT YOU PEOPLE KNOW I HATE ORANGE JUICE?!?!?”

… she hands over the apples juice and gets out of there as fast as she could. I try to take a sip and dribble it all down my chin. Which leads to more SOBBING and WAILING.

My dad was finally just like: “remember when you asked if you should be crying??? what i meant to say was NO.”

And I was like “oh. okay.” and stopped. HAHAHAHAH what the hell.

Ok, I’ve been avoiding going to the dentist for like 6 years now (horrible, I know), and now that I have dental insurance, I am trying to get up the courage to just pick a dentist and go. Do you mind sharing who your’s is? It sounds nice. I hope all this stuff ends soon for you!! Get lots of ice cream!

Reply

Oh Jessica, I totally understand! I completely recommend my dentist…..it is Springville Dentistry. Let me know if you need their number?

Reply

Thank you!!! I’ll have to see if they are on my insurance…

Hah, that first picture is ridiculous! My sister got her wisdom teeth out this summer, and my mom brought her to the car and ran back inside for something. When my mom came back to the car, she was wearing sunglasses & asking strangers in the parking lot to come to Mexico with her. She was obviously still silly on laughing gas.

Reply

Never had any laughing gas but they put me out when i had my wisdom teeth removed. I actually woke up in the middle of the surgery. All i remember is the doc saying “she’s awake, do something!” Our last vacation was to Leakey, Tx. All of my family on my dad’s side get together and rent a large piece of property and have family fun for a week. This is the second year we have done this and it has become a bit of tradition. We hike the small mountains near by, play volleyball, golf, tennus, basketball, and have a campfire each night. Of course we eat delicious food as well.

Reply

Btw, my fav all te game show is the newlywed game, but i think the older version is better.

Reply

I thought I was the only person who puts ketchup on mashed potoates. I knew we were meant to be.

Reply

ohh…you’re not supposed to reward yourself with food…..

…oops :P Didn’t get that memo!

My day today was so long. 2 classes, creeped on by too many weirdos and it was just plain mind numbing.
Last vacay: HAWAII- PLEASE TAKE ME BACK@

Reply

I never get the laughing gas, they just always give me pain pills afterwords. The soup looks yummy, and lemonade, even better! I always reward myself with food-hey if you like it and you work hard enough, why not!!
Last vaca was to Costa Rica, my finance is in Vegas for a bachelor party right now and I am soooo jealous!!

Reply

Ah Lortab. And seriously – a TV on the ceiling and a massage chair? Where is that at? Ima break in there at night – that sounds more like a spa instead of a dentist office.

Reply

I must find a dentist that has massage chairs.

Reply

you poor thing. I wish I could bring you a pudding snack. Those always made me feel better. Or banana pudding! Or anything you want. I have been there. Rest up sweet friend.

Our last vacation was to Destin, FL. A summer beach trip. And a great one!! I need some fresh seafood in my life, stat!

My Day: Awesome.

Laughing Gas story: When I got my wisdom teeth out I couldn’t stop asking for chocolate chip cookies. (Seems reasonable to me!)

Last vacay: Our honeymoon. Toured Italy and a few days in Barcelona (which smells like pee).

Reply

I’ve never had laughing gas, but it looks hilarious!

I absolutely LERRRVE Price is Right! I also loved Press Your Luck! I used to watch all the game shows during summertime when school was out! Food as a reward is the best!

Reply

Great day. No laughing gas but I went to my doctor today and asked for some valium for my upcoming flight (I have major flight anxiety since the last time I flew and they had to return to the airport due to what smelled like fire). Anyway, I am going to take a trial pill just so I know how I’ll react to it.
The Price Is Right. Is there any other game show? I really want my own Plinko board.

Reply

I loved Polly Pockets! My mom used to let me pick out a new one if I had a good report card! My favorite one was the hair salon.

Reply

hahaha, laughing gas is the best ever and that pictures is amazeballs.
Fave game show is definitely a toss up between Wheel Of Fortune and Jeopardy! Love them both. Suck at Jeopardy.

Reply

I had to get a root canal last year – not fun! I hate dental work of all kinds. Well, I actually like getting my teeth cleaned. Last vacation – NYC. I used to LOVE the Price is Right!

Reply

This post made me laugh out loud in the middle of an airport. Gosh I love reading your updates!!!

Reply

The Price is Right reminds me of when I was a kid; we always used to watch it up at my cabin in Island Park, ID. In fact, I used to think it was only aired in Idaho. When I first saw it on my TV at home I was shocked!

Loved meeting you today! Favorite part of my day, by far. You girls are a- mazing.

Reply

WHEEL OF FORTUNE! By far the. best. game show. I will be on it some day.

Do they still make Polly Pocket?

Last vacation was to Colorado.

Reply

A massage chair? I need to put that one in the suggestion box! I hope your mouth is “normal” again soon.

Laughing gas? Dislike. I had some for wisdom teeth removal and I absolutely hated the woozy feeling it gave me. I ended up more anxious than I would have been without it. I panicked and my BP shot up super high. Such a good day!

Game show – I grew up watching Price is Right with my grandmother every single day until I started school. My roommate has recently duped me into watching Wipeout and Minute to Win it. Those people are nutso.

I went to the local (by local I mean 3+ hour drive) to the ocean for vacation (..3 days) during labor day weekend. My last for-reals vacation was to Boston in May.

Reply

Oooo yuck. But I’m glad you got a massage out of the deal.
My favorite game show is definitely jeopardy!!!!!!!!!!! But I’m not really smart enough for it!!!! The last vacation I took was my honeymoon! In Wisconsin! lol :)

You have the worlds greatest dentist. It’s like a dentist you see on tv, but never in real life. Amazing. It’s really sad how jealous I am of your dentist visits…

OMG mashed potatoes with ketchup is the best! My family thinks I’m totally weird cause I mix the ketchup into the potatoes and make red mashed potatoes…weird, perhaps…but delicious, yes!

How was YOUR day so far?
-Busy, busy, busy. I am ready for the weekend.

Laughing gas fan? Any funny laughing gas stories?
-Nah. I don’t like it.

Favorite game show? (If you like them)
-There used to be a show called, “The Newlywed Game” when I was a kid. For whatever reason, I loved it.

Where was the last vacation you took?
-Last “major” vacation was two months in South Africa summer of 2010. Since then, several little trips: Seattle, Joshua Tree, San Francisco, LA, Phoenix.

Reply

hahah you’re the best.. i love that you took a picture of yourself with the mask on!!!! PS: What did your dentist say? lol

Reply

My first ever laughing gas experience was in dental school and it was purely for practice/fun! I loved me some nitrous oxide (aka laughing gas)! Hope the root canal is going well, even if you do have to go back for another visit, but think of it this way, you are getting your money’s worth!

Reply

Oh, Creamies. Want want want want.

I use food as a reward, um, DAILY.

Reply

omg, definitely jeopardy. my family gets so intense…and it was my mima’s fave (bless her soul :) but when we were kids, it was totally ‘the whammy game’ as we called it. loved it!
i’ve never had laughing gas bc i’ve never had a cavity. although i havent been to the dentist for 10+ years…no insurance for a long time, then no money, and now, no excuses!

Reply

I went to the dentist too on Thursday & was super jealous to read about the massage chairs – that sounds awesome. Ice cream was definitely dinner (though honestly, I can always find an excuse for that!)
