Now that I am getting back into running I refuse to run two days in a row for a while.  It is going to be tough now that I have that wonderful taste in my mouth of how marvelous running is but I know that it is going to be the best thing to prevent future injuries if I build up my mileage and running days SLOWLY.

So, I was sentenced to the elliptical.

I love to have music videos on the tv as I read and glance up every now and then waiting for my favorite song to come on or a new song to play that I could use for spin.

The magnificant Beyonce’s video started playing and she had my 100% attention.  That girl can MOVE!!

As I was plugging along, wondering why I wasn’t hooked up to the treadmill instead of the ellipcaI, I started thinking about what sport (besides running) would be the most fun to really excel in and I came up with my top 3 sports that I would love to be really good at:

1. Biking of course;)

2. Tennis

3. An amazing dancer like Beyonce or the So You Think You Can Dance peeps.

What about YOU…..if you could choose any sport (besides running) to be REALLY REALLY good at…what would it be?

I constantly think of songs in context of spinning as well! I blame it on my mom who does the same thing!
If I could be really good at one sport I think it would be gymnastics!

Dancing has always been one of those “i wish” things for me. I’m horrific. But if it was a real “sport” (sorry if that offends any dancers out there!) I’d say soccer. I played from 4-19 and dreamed of being on the US womens team. That would’ve been pretty cool :)

Gymnastics would be really cool to be good at. I think I’d also like to be good at swimming, mostly since I’m so incredibly terrible at it.

Id love to be really good at badminton! :) also biking because you can travel so far on a bike in a shorter amount of time then if you were running.

Beyonce’s video for run the world is insanely good. She’s so talented!

Badminton… best sport ever! Although I usually get a birdie in the eye at least once… but its better than a tennis ball upside the head or heaven forbid a bigger flying object! Yikes!

I also wish I could learn how to stop while ice skating… that would be really useful.

I’d have to agree with you with tennis. I love to play, but i’m not very good.

I would love to be good at tennis! It’s fun, but I suck at it!

I’d love to surf, but it’s so scary!

Reply

I would love love love to be amazing at climbing (like rock climbing) and at street dancing, like beyonce. She is an absolutely incredible dancer! I already climb, and over winter am gonna practice, practice practice. :-) And dude, you are an incredile biker! You’ve already achieved your number one! :-D xyx

Hmm just three things???
1. Swimming (I used to compete in high school and miss it every single day)
2. Gymnastics
3. Acrobatics (the small taste I’ve gotten makes me only want to do it more and more.. if only I had a partner..)

Tennis. The outfits are awesome.

Reply

Bah I miss dancing sooooooooooooooo much! I would be a ballerina for sure.

Reply

Ooo great question! I would have to say: dancing, surfing, and gymnastics!

Reply

I only run three times a week, and ride twice a week because I enjoy both (though running is my first love). I use the run less run faster plan and although it is a running focused plan I can tell that when I’m doing both I improve a lot in both areas.

I would be a dancer. I was a dancer all through high school, but it’s a ridiculous (and expensive) hobby for a grown up. But I’m always tempted to sign up for a ballet class just to see if I could do it.

Reply

Soccer! (Its running with a ball lol) I’d also love to be good at skiing or snowboarding because it looks like a lot of fun!

I was just discussing this with a friend yesterday. I WISH I was good at running. I’ve always been a pretty good sprinter, but I have no endurance skills!

Reply

YESSS!!! I just posted about this video too, isn’t it so awesome! That would be my sport, being Beyonce, hahahahaha

Reply

I really wish I was good at tennis! Hubs plays it and tries to teach me…he even got me a cool pink Serena racket…but I am SOOOO uncoordinated!

Reply

gymnastics. i have always been fond of the sport and i would die to have a bod like a gymnast but with boobs.

Honestly I wish I was really good at beach volleyball — those players are amazing and I love the idea of playing beach volleyball and then having chips/salsa and a margarita. I’m sure that is not what they do, but that is what I’d do.

Reply

dancer or beach volleyball!

Reply

I wish I could do gymnastics! My friend did college all the way through high school, and her routines were so awesome. Rock climbing would be cool as well. I’ve done it a few times, and watching the hardcore people go upside down is fun.

Reply

Tennis – I’m terrible at tennis and they have such cute outfits!!!!!!

Reply

Figure skating! A sport I never think about except when the Olympics are on, and then I become obsessed.

I struggled with knee injuries and once I learned never to run 2 days in a row, my body has been very happy. I wish you luck in your journey to finding out what it is that your body needs. That’s why I do tri’s, it keeps me healthy for running. Oh, and the cool tri shorts… NOT!

Reply

I think I am going to be like you…..no 2 days in a row and I am not going to lie, I REALLY want to get into tri’s!

Reply

I would love to be able to dance – i can’t dance….i still do but I’m not good at it. I’m trying to be good at surfing but it’s really REALLY hard. Tennis- i would love to rock at that too…

#2 Swimming
#3 Golf

Definately biking! I need to learn to not be afraid of downhills.

Are you registering for Boston this week or next week? I just posted today, I don’t think I’m going to.

Reply

I don’t think so….. I have waisted my savings on spending money on races ha. I think I will just do local races that don’t require traveling etc.

Other than running:

1.) SWIMMING! I would love to be able to fly through the water and cover thousands of metres in mere minutes. Sadly, I haven’t progressed much beyond doggie-paddle. Plus, if I was good at swimming I wouldn’t be so distraught when I can’t run, because 99% of running injuries still allow you to swim.

2.) Tennis: it was the only exercise I got when I was the tubby kid at school, because I had the best doubles partner in the whole year so he compensated for my failings and general crappiness.

3.) Cycling. I am accident prone and consequently a scaredy cat on the bike. Averaging 15mph would be a dream for me. Sad, I know.

Nothing tops running though ;)

either basketball or volleyball. i played both back in the day but never had the focus to really train at it.

I was a dancer :) from age three until a little over a year ago. I did ballet mostly, and danced professionally for two years … It’s never to late, you could take sOme classes. You have an amazing body, determination, and strength! I always wanted to do soccer but I’m scared haha the thought of hard contact, getting kicked, or hurt scares me- I am a big baby:)

Reply

WOW….Lilly, you made my day! Thank you so much. TWO YEARS OF PRO DANCING…um, you are my HERO!!! Are you still dancing?

Reply

1. Running. I wish I was a super runner – like a marathon-every-month kind of runner.

2. Cooking. If I could be Giada for a year, my marriage would be friggin’ awesome (I kid, I kid… it is awesome, but being able to cook like Giada would make it MORE awesome!)

3. Dancing. I dance like a white girl with 4 left feet.

Reply

1. Surfing!!!!
2. Biking
3. Tennis

Reply

good on your janae for only running every other day! i have limited myself to 3 days a week to prevent injury…seems to be working so far (touchwood)

Reply

dance!!!

Reply

i’d want to be a swimmer or a rower. Hard core! Plus I wish I had more upper body strength, haha.

Reply

Any sport would do! I’m uncoordinated and that’s why I run! :) I would love to be good at swimming though. I love swimming but am not speedy!

Reply

I grew up as a dancer and that was literally ALL I did for the first 25 years of my life–dance, compete, perform, coach, teach, and then quit :) Now that I’m on to new things, I’d like to be awesome at cycling, running, and rock climbing. That would be sweet!

Reply

I would love to be great at skiing or snowboarding – I feel like it would be such a fun culture to be a part of! I went to college in Maine and was surrounded by uber-talented skiers. I baked them a lot of goodies while I hung out in the cabin after my 20 minutes on the bunny slope.

Reply

Maybe Billy will go to Harvard and in 2 yrs you won’t have to travel to race Boston!!

Reply

Fun!
Figure skating
Speed skating
Ski jump

Soccer, gymnastics, basketball.
I was lucky enough to not be truly gifted in any sport ;).

Reply

1. Dancing! I love dance shows / movies
2. Surfing. Wish I stuck with it.
3. Soccer. Always played but wish I was stronger at it.

Reply

1) Tennis
2) Volleyball
3) Skiing

That is a really good question!!! I wish I were really really really good at Basketball. It’s my absolute favorite sport to watch, and I love playing it. However, I’m WAY too clumsy to be very good at it. (And by “very good at it” I mean I’m way too clumsy to even attempt to play church ball). I would love to be a dancer as well, but alas, that clumsiness gets in the way of everything!!!

So, running it is.

Reply

Okay, so this is something I actually think about a lot… If I couldn’t be an Olympic track star, I would want to be. . .

1. Dancer (I’m not flexible to do any of the super cool moves)
2. Volley ball Player
3. Tie for Tennis or Soccer

Reply

Swimming! Of the “tri” disciplines, that one is the hardest for me…I have NO GILLS!! :)

Reply

I’d love to be really good at golf. I play it now, but am not very good. I’m jealous of the boys that can hit the bar so far.

Reply

Well, obviously running is #1.

After that I would choose gymnastics. Although I’m too old now. Haha. And maybe next would be soccer. I always thought I would be a good soccer player but never got the chance to play! :)

Reply

Great question Janae!

I’d LOVE to be an amazing dancer or figure skater. Do you see those ice dancers booties? Jeezums!

Reply

Probably gymnastics and ice skating and tennis

Reply

Hook me up with some mad sand volleyball skills and I’d be living the dream! I’ve always dreamed of playing in the summer Olympics with Walsh!

Reply

Surfing! It’s like the most impressive sport that you could say to someone. “Yeah, I’m a surfer.” COME ON.
