College Reunion and Hydration

Once upon a time during college I just wanted to get away for a sememter.  Hmmmmm….where to go, where to go?  I know….Hawaii!!

I went all by myself and on the first day being there I met my bff in the cafeteria.  She came by herself also and we hung out (AND ASHTON) everyday for the rest of the semester.  Then we lived together once we got back to the mainland and did everything together.  Then she got too cool for me and decided to get a real person job and become responsible and move away from me.  Rude.

Good thing her family moved here so I can hunt her down whenever she is visiting.  Her first marathon is in November and she is going to ROCK IT!

Um, thank you Yogurtland for adding my new favorite flavor in the whole wide world.  Oatmeal Cookie fro-yo.  Don’t ever leave me and if you do, you will regret it.

IMG 9339

I told Billy I would be home an hour later.  He knows me better than that and wasn’t surprised one bit when I walked in the door three hours later.

Welcome to my salad bar, which would you choose: Whole Foods Bar or my salad bar?  You better say mine.

So, I am kind of in a food rut.  We have been eating out like crazy but anytime I am eating at home the only thing I want is salad.

IMG 9343Key to salad bar sucess:  Whip out every last piece of produce you have and combine.  In case you were wondering, I did not use that cereal in the picture as croutons, this time at least.

What a great wife I am?  Mac and Cheese for the man and salad for me.  PS that is not a hair in the mac and cheese bowl, stupid bed bath and beyond bowl broke after me dropping it on our awesome linoleum floor for the sixth time….come on, what happened to durability?

IMG 9349

I am not feeling motivated to wake up for an early morning spin class so I texted a friend to go with so that I HAVE to get up and go……this better work because once I start spinning I know I will be happy I am there.

If you could go back to school right now would you choose the same major that you did the first time?

-I think I would do the same major again!

Why did you go to the college that you did?

-Cheap, close to family, great education and it is where all my siblings went:)

Do you keep track how many ounces of water you drink a day?  How much do you think you drink on average?

-I have never tracked it but I am going to today!

Anyone else in a food rut?

I would most definitely major in something else. Looking back I wish I had studied science so that I could have gone on to be a dietition or maybe even a doctor!

I went to a school close to home so I could live with my parents and save $. Then I moved out on my own anyway!

I try to drink 3 litres of water a day. Its tough but I am getting better at it.

Oatmeal cookie fro you???? HOLY MOTHER I want some! I don’t track my water intake but considering the number of times I hit up the bathroom, I think I’m good…with the price of toilet paper, I probably can’t afford to drink any more water ;)! I’m in a food rut-all my meals are either mexican/salsa-based or sesame-oil based….obsessed with both!

Reply

You make me laugh so hard. I think it is more than okay when all meals are salsa or sesame-oil based…can I come over for dinner?

Reply

I would NOT be the same major I was (Broadcast Communications and History). I would do Finance or Computer Science.
I went where I did because it was far enough to be “away” and close enough to go home for holidays. And it was beautiful! Elon College (now University).
I try to keep track of my water but I am bad at it. I would say I get about 60 ounces a day. I probably need more and am going to check out that link.
I wouldn’t say I am in a rut. I eat a lot of egg beaters, soup, cereal (but we are out of milk).

If I could go back and change majors, I probably would have went to school for something more athletic oriented like physical therapy or sports recreation type degrees.

I find it amazing how many of your friends are marathon runners! Is this a Utah phenomenon?? I’m jealous, but at the same time I’m glad none of my friends run marathons…I think I would feel too much pressure to keep up with them :)

Reply

Ha…I am not sure about that? Maybe I just make friends with runners easier:)

Reply

If I could go back and change majors I probably would! I studied languages because I loved them but if I had known how interested I would be in sports and nutrition then I would have stuck at science and followed that path!

Reply

I am always in a food rut! Haha I go to the Univeristy I go to because its close to home, and cheapp :)

Reply

are you at McMaster??

Reply

U of Windsor :)

Reply

oh cool. I thought b/c you are from Oakville (I am from Burlington originally) lol….but Windsor is close too!

Reply

i wouldn’t change my major, even though i have a love hate relationship with music education! I went to the college I went to because my high school band director went there and that was what I wanted to be. I SHOULD track how much water i drink, but i am too scared for the real answer! And I always eat the same things…bad, i know!

Reply

I definitely do not drink enough water…I try to…I read that if your pee is yellow – you’re dehydrated…. (sorry to be specific) My pee is normally yellow… I’m working on it….

xoxo from Trinidad

Reply

One of my nutrition teachers in school would always say “Pale yellow Post-It note” as a comparison of what urine should look like when someone is properly hydrated.

Reply

I was in a pretty big food rut about a week ago, but I think I may be branching out. Salads are my fave :)
If I could go back I would NOT change majors. Journalism was perfect for me and I owe my big girl job to everything I learned. Annnnd I also went to the college I did because it was cheap, close to family, and a good school. Worked out!

I have never tracked my water, but I drink a ton of it, and if what Corey says about yellow pee is true I think I’m good!

Reply

I think I would have specialized in kinesiology or physical education! I majored in sociology, then went to teacher’s college, and THEN got my physical education certification. It would have made things a lot easier if I had know what I wanted from the start!

I definitely don’t drink enough water. I get dehydration headaches all the time. I’ve made it a goal to start keeping track though. It takes forever for those headaches to go away!

Reply

I always crave salads if I eat out a ton too!! I loved my major and would return to do it all over again–my job is THE best :)

Reply

oatmeal cookie sounds just so delicious!! they don’t have cool flavors like that at my froyo place!

Reply

Ohhh I have been in SUCH a food rut… only eating big salads topped with veggie burgers for dinner. I mean, they’re yummy but I’m getting a little bored. Maybe I’ll make a loaded baked potato tonight… I have been craving those but I’ve also been to lazy to do anything other than my norm haha

I have mixed feelings of the do-over question. I got my degree in classical vocal performance and loved every minute of it. Though, I technically do nothing with that degree now. I started taking tons and tons of biology classes after I graduated because after taking some my senior year of college I found out that I had an aptitude and a passion for something I had never explored before. Now I am almost 30 and wish I had done something with science/biology. Right now sports nutrition is very high on the list. maybe someday!

I went to UMass Dartmouth because they gave me the most money haha

I drink negative amount of water… it’s awful. I just don;t like it…weird, right? I usually buy sparkling water but I have heard it’s not very good for hydration. I know my water habits are AWFUL.

Reply

can they please build a yogurtland around me bc i am super jealous!!!
In lieu of yogurtland, I just tend to keep like, 4 different tubs of Edys Slow churned around at all times :)

I’m really not sure if i’d choose the same major…I really enjoyed studying history and political science, but now i’m doing nothing with it. I work in a cubicle at a big company and recently feel a little freaked out that I still dont know what I wanna do with myself careerwise :(

I went to the college I did because it was a good school and the most affordable option for me…plus my dad offered to pay for dorming if I went to Rutgers so there you go. best decision I ever made!!! I’m glad i’m not paying off over 100,000 of school loans now!

I dont track my water but I drink ALOT of it…i’m always better at keeping up with it while i’m at work cause when i’m at home i’m lazy to keep refilling my water cup, haha. I also pee about every 2 minutes.

I’ve been trying to change up my food cycle, but I definitely get stuck in food ruts…i honestly eat some foods until I cant stand it anymore, then switch…glad i’m not the only one!

Reply

anytime I see the word Hawaii I want to cry….I miss it there. I wish to live there and I enjoyed the schools I went to but I don’t have a real career to show for it, so yes….if I could go back I’d change it!

I love your salad bar and yes, I am in a food rut.

Reply

I’m totally in a food rut right now. I can’t decide on anything. Boo.

I found a white chocolate fro-yo near me. It tastes like marshmellows! Awesome!

I don’t think I would choose my major now just because I don’t use it. I did Political Science and it interests me still, but I had plans on going to law school after and didn’t, so it ended up as a useless major.

Reply

White chocolate fro-yo….HEAVEN!!!

Reply

I really liked the college I went to. It was a community college where I live. I would change my major for sure because I never decided on one. I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. :) But I wouldn’t change anything!!

Good idea on tracking your water. I’m suppose to drink about 100oz. but I hardly ever make that. But I am going to start trying.

Reply

I had an “everything in the fridge” salad for dinner last night too! Mixed greens, apples, grapes, carrots, cucumber, fresh grated parmesan, a crumbled up hard boiled egg, sliced almonds and TJs balsamic vinagrette. It’s good salad dressing! Not their fat-free kind, but the regular. TJs never disappoints, i also love the raspberry vinagrette.

If I could go back to school, hmm I dunno. I’d choose the same degree probably since it got me where I am job wise, but I’d like to be rich and not have to work so I could just keep going to college to do fun frivolous things like Art and philosophy..
I’m from Ireland and there was just one university in my city, and it was only a mile or so from home so I could walk there. Plus of course, in Ireland uni is free so I didn’t have to pay anything!

Now i live in USA I can’t even think about ever going back to school since it costs a bajillion dollars here ha! My future kids better get scholarships or somethin’!

I do not count my water but I pee a lot so I figure I must be well hydrated…

Reply

Um, can I come over for one of your salads? You are making me drool! You are from Ireland…that is SO cool. I had no idea that US schools were so much more expensive. I lucked out and the college I went to was private but way cheaper than most universities wahoo!

Reply

I would NOT choose the same major. Though I LOVED my major, I had my “career epiphany” 4 years after I graduated and now I’m trying to do the make up work….
I chose the school I went to because it was 1. close to home 2. best school ever (go Nittany Lions!) 3. a good education

I’ve never actually tracked how much water I drink in a day, but I never go without filling up my Nalgene at least 3 times in any given day.

ps. IS THAT A BREAD MACHINE on your salad table???? You are a girl after my own heart!

Reply

IT IS!!! Do you have any good bread recipes for me? I am GLAD you LOVED your college!

Reply

I’m in a food rut! After a run/work out I just eat pasta. So boring! I need to go grocery shopping and make my own salad bar like you!
I try and drink about 5-6 water bottles at work and more at home. This also means I’m going to the bathroom a lot. People at work might think I’m strange…
I went to my college because I wanted to try something different. All my friends were going to go to U of O and I think I just needed to go off on my own and grow up a little bit. Get out of the “bubble”. So I went to New York!
Honestly, I don’t know if I would do it again if I could go back. I miss my family and friends a lot. Oregon is just the best!

Reply

I would probably keep my major(s) but would have done a bunch more internships! And probably would have postponed graduate school.

I chose the college that I did because it’s the BEST in the state of Virginia! Go Hokies! Our campus was gorgeous. Plus there is such a sense of community there and everyone is so supportive and really really loves the school. I miss college.

I try to keep track of my water intake. I always feel better when I drink over 100 ounces a day!

Reply

BRANDI!! Will you save me…..my comment on your blog must have gone to spam or something!! I am so happy you had such an amazing college experience!

Reply

oatmeal cookie fro-yo!?!? oh my- I want some!! :P
114 ounces is a lot, and so is 200 ounces. I’m guessing the most I’ve drank is 200 ounces- I’m always so thirsty!
I’m in college now, and my major is Graphic Design. I just started but I’m LOVING it. I love computers and learning all the design programs is so much fun.
The reason I’m going to the college I’m going to now is because: 1.) close to home (at most, its 15 minutes away!), and I have a full scholarship there!

Reply

i am in a food rut too :/ i ate out every night for 2 weeks and felt aweful, so I have been on a major veggies, smoothies, salad binge lately!

BTW that is the coolest story about your roommate from college! I miss my roomie terribly, but she travels a lot now and every time she is in the city, I am going away somewhere – we have bad timing I guess!

Reply

YUM! check out that mac n cheese! Oh and that delicious looking salad!

Reply

I’d probably chose the same major that I had, but maybe minor in kineseology or something fun like that.

I went to my school because i was a legacy, they gave me tons of money, and my parents said I could take my car with me if I went :).

Reply

I should want to major in something else, because English is getting me about nowhere in life… but I LOVED it. It’s probably the easiest major at the school I went to, I hardly had to do anything but read books I liked and talk about them with friends… it was like a sweet book club!
I chose my school when I was like 3 years old. Everyone in my family went there. Luckily, they also had a killer xc/track program (won nationals in 97, 99, 01, 02) and the best coach in the world.
All I know is I don’t drink enough water and I want to steal your oatmeal cookie froyo!

Reply

Fun hydrating website! I only need 74 oz but I probably don’t even drink that. Water here I come!

Reply

Hey girl…..I tried to leave a comment on your blog but it must have gone to spam…SAVE ME!

Reply

SAVED :) Thanks for the heads up babe!

Reply

I drink a TON of water! I drink two full Nalgene bottles just during the work day alone. So, that’s 64 oz. right there. I would probably guess that I drink about 150 oz. on an average day. I just always have to have water close by!

Reply

I tried to leave a comment on your blog but it went to SPAM:(

Oh no! I went and saved it from the spam file :) thanks for the comment!!

I would go back to be a nutritionist. I went to my college bc I have always been a fan, it’s close to home & I love their traditions. I definitely keep track of my water. I drink atleast 2 liters of water a day. I’m not in a food rut currently but I have been in the past.

Reply

I’d stick with the sciences, but not sure which ones.
I chose my college based on what kind of scholarships I could get and proximity to home.
I haven’t tracked it since I did weight watchers.
I eat the same thing for every breakfast and lunch sooooo yeah.

Reply

I would definitely choose psych again! I love it! EVen if I will be in school forever and finally get a real job when I am like 30!
I choose NYU because I got to live in Italy for a year and I wanted to live in NYC! However sometimes I miss the real big school football team environment that I lost by choosing NYU!
I usually refill my 24 oz cup or camelbak about 4 times in a day! More in the summer!
Also HOW GOOD IS THE OATMEAL FLAVOR? sory Ijust got really excited, couldnt contain myself there hahaha! i wrote about it yesterday… bahh soo o delish

Reply

ITALY FOR A YEAR….um, I am incredibly jealous! Seriously, the oatmeal flavor is the best thing ever invented!

Reply

If you could go back to school right now would you choose the same major that you did the first time?
While I loved my major, it didn’t really help in my grown up working world. I should have been a teacher!

Why did you go to the college that you did?
Cheap, close and my BFF was going there.

Do you keep track how many ounces of water you drink a day? How much do you think you drink on average?
No idea, but it’s alot. I refill my 24oz bottle at work at least four times and I drink water at lunch, dinner and take a big cp to bed every night. Yes, I pee – ALOT!

Anyone else in a food rut?
Totally! Dying for the new Trader Joes to open in my hood. I have been waiting a year!!!

Reply

You are so lucky you are getting a TJ’s….Utah has ZERO! Girl, you are so good at drinking water! Come be a teacher with me;)

Reply

LOL. When they open, I can mail you TJ care packages from Staten Island. :)

Reply

I am not sure I would change my degree given the choice over again, but I would have definately taken up some sort of sport, that was a big mistake stopping most exercise after sixth form/high school.

I needed a change of scene so chose a university about 100 miles away (in England that is pretty far away but not so bad that you can’t just catch a train home)

I track my water intake per day by using my Camelbak bottle (as recommended by you actually Janae!!! It’s so good so thank you!!) I take it everywhere even to work. It seems to make me drink more and I fill it up about twice throughout the day and once at home when I get back. I get a bit moody if I don’t have enough water and this (really) works.

Bit time food rut! I need to read the many of cookery books I buy (I work for a publisher which one dept specialises in food books) I have no excuse really!

xx

Reply

Oh girl, I am so happy you like that water bottle! It is my favorite and good for you to take it EVERYWHERE!!! I am going to try your moody trick:)

Reply

Is it weird that whenever I have a monster salad I think of you? It happens quite frequently. If I ever make it down your way we must go for a salad lunch together!

Reply

AHHH That makes my day!! Um, pretty please can we go for salads and fro-yo…PLEASE!

Reply

i’d choose a different major…i didnt realize how much i’d love health/fitness until i was way into my current profession (which i do enjoy thoroughly, but IF i could go back, ya know).

stayed in state at our largest state school (cheapest) and loved every minute of it. so fun, saved money, and was close enough to home. i wanna go back!

always in a food rut…i live by myself so its easy to eat the same BLD every day. i basically change up dinner, but rotate between like 5 meals. oh well, i’m satisfied and full : )

Reply

haha… no i am not pregnant… well then 75 ounces – 112 ounces of water a day it is! ;) Your salads always look amazing and so does billy’s mac and cheese… i prolly would’ve eaten both ;) lol

Reply

What dressing do you use? Do you have a homemade recipe? I would like to eat more salad (I dont eat enough veggies!) but apart from my homemade caesar dressing, I don’t usually like other dressings.

Reply

HEY YOU!!! I stocked up on TJ’s Pear vinaigrette and use it on every single salad…it is like heaven!! I also like just doing oil and vinegar sometimes too!

Reply

I love that you went to Hawaii! What a fun experience. I think I’d probably choose the same major again, but I would love to go to Grad school, too – I still think about it even though I’m old! Ha. And I’m in a food rut this week – I’m sick and nothing tastes great so it’s been very boring and bland around here…

Reply

typed out a nice comment and then the damn computer froze . If I could go back and change my major i probably would have changed from english to business as I ended up in sales.

Cool site on the water intake I will have to check that out. I am good with water during my workout but throughout the day I am way too dependent on coffee

Reply

wahooo! shout out to the hawaii days. i wish i could have met up with you two! i miss you! i wish i ate as well as you did… if i lived closer i’d turn into a total stalker to try to be like you.

i don’t know why the heck i chose education. i loved it though, so i’d probably do it again, even though it has nothing to do with what i do now! yay for teachers :)

Reply

ASHTON!!! I will be in vegas the first week of December. Can you pencil me in?

Reply

I chose Carolina because I grew up LOVING Dean Smith and Tarheel basketball. I loved all four years (majored in Health Administration) and met Travis there. Wouldn’t trade it for the world, but I think I would have majored in something different. Maybe Sports Exercise (which is what I do know).

Reply

Always in a food rut it seems. Need to drink way MORE water. Love your apron girl! Went to college where I did because of running and academic scholarships. Um, would surely major in the same thing! Loved college but I like myself way better now! :) Happy Wednesday girl!

Reply

I do not drink enough water, it doesn’t dance on my palate the way a diet mountain dew does.

If I am eating the same things but am HAPPY about it, I do not consider it a food rut. If I am eating things I am BORED with, or just out of ROUTINE……then I need to get out of my food rut. (my bedtime snack is in a major rut) Actually your blog has been very helpful to remind me of yummy meals and snacks to shake it up.

Reply

You help ME with my food rut….especially letting me know that it is more than okay to eat cereal multiple times a day! Hope you are having an amazing day gorgeous girl!

Reply

I would do something different, definitely! Nursing instead of Communications. and i’m in a total food rut… no desire to go to the grocery store. it’s baddddd.

Reply

IN SUCH A FOOD RUT OVER HEREEEEEEE ahhh it needs to change NOWWW
yayy um on that website now AND I TOTALLY and gonna see how much my water intake matches how much i am supposed to haveeee
yayy for spinning i am about to get my spin on nowww!

Reply

I went to the college I did b/c it was close, cheap and I had a SKOLLERship. Sa sa savings.

My major was communications and I’d probably stick pick it if I went back. Although I think something like creative writing or literature would’ve been more adventurous.

I am kind of in a food rut. GET ME OUTTA THIS FOOD RUT. HOW DID I GET INTO THIS FOOD RUT?

kthanks. k bye.

Reply

Um that fro-yo flavor sounds amazing!! What time does YL open? I may have to fake sick at work to go get some. he he

I am still working on that degree. lol College is way too expensive and I would obviously much rather spend my money on running. :) My goal is to get that peice of paper by the time I’m 30!

Reply

I’m definitely in a food rut….as in I don’t have any!!! My fridge is seriously empty and I’m starving, yet obviously not starving enough to go to the store. It’s on the list for today but ugh. Requires such motivation. How can I love food so much yet completely hate to go to the grocery store?!

Reply

Um, you better go to the store TODAY!!! I can also send you food;)

Reply

Yay!!! I’d like 4 boxes of peaches and a few cups of Yogurtland please. You can choose the flavors– I’m not picky :)

Reply

I am going to Hawaii for the FIRST TIME EVER next week! Yahooo! I cannot wait!!! :) :) :)

I wouldn’t change my major but I think I would have double majored. Maybe. Or am I looking for an excuse to be a student again?! MAYBE!! I really want to be a teacher. I was a journalism major so I don’t think it would be too difficult to go back and get my credential. The only bummer is right now going into teaching is difficult. Sadly our teachers continue to get laid off here in So Cal. Not good!

Ok, I am going to Yogurtland today to get oatmeal raisin fro-yo. If they don’t have it here I am going to have to launch a serious complaint!

Reply

You went to Hawaii by yourself? You’re totally fearless!

I’m in a food rut, too. Unfortunately mine isn’t so much ‘salad for dinner’ as it is ‘brownies and pies’ for dinner. Feel very lucky. :-)

Reply

I would do ANYTHING to live in Hawaii for a semester! That sounds amazing. I wish I’d studied abroad but I felt like I was in such a rush to finish in 4 years because student loans are crazy expensive.

I was in a food rut too and going to subway about 78463x a week, but I bought some whole wheat tortillas and started making wraps out of whatever i could find in the fridge. Today I have chicken with pesto sauce, mozzarella cheese and salad fillings.

Reply

I would not choose the same thing again in college. Which is why I decided to go back to school and get another bachelors degree! I wish I knew this, when I was 18, but life would be so different.

This time around, I picked the second best school in the country for what I’m studying. (I wasn’t qualified for Number One, it would put my schooling off by at least three years to get qualified.) The first time around, I wanted a Christian college that made me feel happy. After a couple of college visits, I found it! And it doesn’t help that they gave me a hearty scholarship.

Reply

blahblahlblahblaha OATMEAL COOKIE FROYO!!!! OMG it’s taking all my restraint to not run there right now I’m sooo excited it’s back!

Can we go to Hawaii sometime on a bff vacay? I’ll make the arrangements.

Reply

Same major? No, I’m much more mercenary these days (you know, now that I’m in the real world with real bills). I’d go business all the way. Why that college? I WAS mercenary there — they gave me a full scholarship. Yay for very little in student loans (my amount is impressively small in light of my private undergrad degree and two masters)! Track water? I don’t keep track, but considering I was the weird kid who ordered a water with her Happy Meal in kindergarten, I’ve never been too concerned. Anyone else in a food rut? I eat the same breakfast and lunch combos (spinach smoothies, then soup, crackers and applesauce), but have lately been mixing dinner up. I’ve moved to a before-work workout, which has freed up so much evening time! I’ve loved having time to cook, and have been working my way through cookbooks.

Reply

If I could go back to school I would probably go into some type of Sports Nutrition or exercise Science. I love teaching, but my passion is with being healthy and exercise.
I know I should drink more water, but they have so many other options out there…powerade zero, crystal light, propel….I am having a difficult time just filling my bottle with plain water.
Food rut, yeah a little…but I solved it by just going to Costco and picking up several new items to try…chicken hot dogs, salmon burgers and some new Enchildia sauce. Just a little variety helps me out!

Reply

The oatmeal cookie flavor is awesome! I went there this weekend and was really disappointed that YL didn’t have nutter butter anymore, but the oatmeal cookies was incredible. Good save.

I would totally do the same major again (Marketing), but would focus more on the social media aspect of it. I want to make a change now from what I’m doing, but am likely going to face a lot of competition from those who have it as a focus.

Reply

I’m a business major and I think I would do it again. With my degree I can kind of do anything…maybe :) I’m not even using it at my current job! I didn’t want to go to college, so I went to a community college instead of the others I applied to.

I do track my water. I have a phone app that helps me track it and reminds me to drink water. I’m not good at drinking water so I need the reminder!

And, I’m not so much in a food rut as I am a “no-inspiration-or-desire-to-cook-anything” rut! :)
Anyone else in a food rut?

Reply

I need to try that oatmeal cookie flavor!

I’m about to graduate (TOMORROW!), and I love my major. I’m going back to school next fall though (if I get into the programs I applied to), and I’m switchin’ it up…so we shall see how that goes!

Reply

I would major in the same thing I did, print journalism. I just would hope that there was a department dedicated to magazine and online writing and kept on a separate track from news. I didn’t love spending so much time writing/studying “hard-hitting” news. Boring!

I knew I was going to BYU from the moment I was born, pretty much. Then when I started running, I developed a new dream and reason for going there: to run for BYU. Still pinch myself that it actually happened!

I drink so much water. Carry my water bottle around EVERYWHERE. Not sure what the total per day would be though? I’ve had to increase it since moving to the Caribbean. The heat and humidity are intense!

Reply

College Major: My major was journalism and I absolutely love to write. Would never change my major. It allowed me to come here to NYC in college and work at a magazine. All of my fave classes were my magazine classes. I LOVED my major :-)

Why I Went to College: I went to school at Northwestern. Born in Chicago, but raised in Nebraska, I’d always had a pull back to the city. I wanted to go back there and also attend a school with a reputable journalism program. Oh and the campus is breath-taking :-)

I don’t keep track of water I drink…does soda count?

Reply

I went to a local college. Sadly, I never finished.

I do track my water. I aim for a minimum 80 ozs. daily but usually drink more. Especially when it is hot out.

Everytime you post about the magical place known as Yogurtland I get a little tear in my eye as we have nothing as fabulous as that close to where I live.

This summer I went to Pinkberry everyday of our vacation. I seriously craved it for weeks after. I still have the pic I snapped with my phone of my cup of yogurt as my background on the phone.

But I’ve got plans to visit 16 Handles in NYC in January. Multiple times. I don’t care that it will probably be 0 degrees out. :) Momma needs some fro-yo.

Reply

Okay, Lisa….you NEED to come visit me in Utah and I will take you to Yogurtland every day of your life! You may need to send me your cup of yogurt picture…love that is your background, you made my day!

Reply

I sent it to you! LOL!

You will yell at me because I didn’t get any toppings that visit. Only coconut and watermelon swirled.

I know how you love to load up your cups with goodies. :)

I used to be o.b.s.e.s.s.e.d with how much water I drank. If I didn’t drink an entire gallon a day I would feel incomplete. I have since then taken it down a notch. I was afraid I would turn into a water monster and be featured in a Marvel Comics movie. Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my keyboard, oatmeal cookie fro-yo? I have now seen everything.

Hi Janae, I’ve been reading your blog for awhile and am totally addicted to it but haven’t ever commented. I actually live right near you, and used to go to your gym! Whenever I go to YL I wonder what I would do if I ran into you there, you’re totally like a celebrity, Haha…I’m not a stalker, I swear! Anyways, I love reading your blog you’re such a huge motivation to me and always have the best advice and attitude!
I did the whole semester in Hawaii thing too and it was the best thing ever! Like you I went totally alone and made great friends and just had a blast!

I’m still in school but if I could re-start I would do the same major AS WELL as do a minor on the side. Something with nutrition, most likely. Or sociology. Considering I’m a math major, these are both pretty random but I would have liked to just have something tiny on the side. Especially since right now, I think having nutritional education would be beneficial for me!

I drink SO much water. I get up atleast 4 times a night to pee. It’s really frustrating because I never EVER used to have to get up during the night but once I broke the seal, there was no turning back. I get really pissy when I wake up at like 3 AM and it’s cold to walk to the bathroom but I can’t fall asleep unless I go. UGH. I need diapers.

Food rut? I pretty much have been eating huge salads, oatmeal, and pancakes… With sides of corn on the cob and peaches. Am I complaining? Not really. But I should probably expand my horizons. Haha.

I’m in a food rut, too! I thought to myself this week before I had to go food shopping, “I really have to cook for myself… forever?” LOL. I’m in for it..

I would have majored in advertising. I went to MSU because I have been a Spartan since birth and really didn’t have a choice (I never wanted to go anywhere else). I kind of pay attention to how much water I drink because I use a water bottle for the gym and then take it to work with me. I always have water with me. Definitely in a food rut – salads all summer long – but trying to break out now that the weather is turning cooler.
Glad you had such a great time with your bff!

I am in a dinner salad rut too! If you can call it that – I am perfectly content eating my delicious spinach, cherry tomato, cucumber, spicy chickpea, mozzarella cube salad with turkey/shrimp/chicken/salmon and honey dijon dressing every night of the week. I also eat the same breakfast and lunch every day and haven’t been able to break the habit for a few months now. Hey, a girl knows what she likes! At least I add variety with my snacks and desserts :)

If I went back to school I would do something completely different. I got into public relations because a teacher told me I’d be good at it. I liked it (I just moved to the US so I’m not allowed to work yet until I’m married – rude!) but if I had it back I would have gone to school to be an RD.

I went to Humber College and University of Guelph (in Canada) because of their PR program and proximity to my house.

I don’t drink enough water – I used to drink tons but couldn’t stand getting up every night 3 times. I really need to figure it out though because I don’t want to get dehydrated!

Have a fab Thursday Janae!!
